Cm MMS.apk - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

Does anyone know where I can find the MMS.apk from cm with the quick reply feature that I can flash/install on stock 4.2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

You can probably just extract it from one of the CM10 based ROMs.

Hello,
This apk work fine but I prefer the stock version for the white background ... is there a way to add just the quick reply options without altering the original application? Or the same apk but with the stock theme ?
In all cases, thanks!

Just download the CM10 zip and pull the MMS.apk out, it'll be white.
I really wish someone would build a third-party MMS app with the CM10 features that could be installed normally/without root. Seems like a great baseline for an awesome SMS app.

Okay, so here is the Mms apk from TouchWiz4 with the following modifications:

+ Unlimited recipients
+ Sent time instead of received time. If you turn off your phone, messages you get whilst it's off will have the right time!
To install:
Simply rename the included apk to 'mms.apk' then copy to /system/app/
MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR CURRENT Mms.apk!!
Things to be sure of:
+ You are using a Deodexed ROM

Aweseome! I've been waiting for this for Gingerbread!
Though one question,
Why is Touchwiz 4 required for this? I'm currently using Darkys RC6 which has TW3.
Even if I upgrade to TW4 for your mod, Do I need to be using TW4, or just installed is fine?
thanks, trying it now!

You need to be using TW4 because it uses a different framework for this apk.
If you aren't going to be using TW4 then download the mms MOD that is a couple of threads below mine by mintymontypie. He has modified the TW3 messaging app.
You will most likely get FC's if you try this mms.apk while still running TW3
Thanks. Wiill check both out. Is there a functional difference between the apps? Or are they same feature-wise?

Same feature wise. The TW4 one has a slightly different colour scheme with the text bubbles and a different icon.
Other than that, they are the same. Apart from being built on different TW versions.
I have used this on TW3. Seems to work fine. No force closes.

haha, fair enough.
Colour should be a little different too.
Just updated the apk to include the Time Fix. Re-uploaded to first post.
EDIT : deleted
Seems fine on JVK (Darky 10 RC6)
I have just tested this on Darky's 10.1 Final which is JVH and this works perfectly.
I'm on JVB but using Launcher Pro and GO SMS Pro for SMS
will the time fix work for me if I use your MOD but keep GO SMS as a default SMS app ?
Thanks
You won't be able to use it with goSms as I modded the actual stock messaging apk. I don't know if you can do this with goSms.... might be possible but I haven't looked into it as I only use the stock app.
So I guess in short, the answer is no. This will only work if you use the stock SMS app.

And I'm using Go SMS as I mentioned before..
Your time MOD is working on stock SMS now like a charm! AND with GO SMS too! I havent altered anything in GOsms but it seems that GOsms depends on stock SMS.
One thing more.. I don't even have TW 3 or 4 on my system.. I uninstalled it via SGS tools long time ago..

[APP] Galaxy Tab Email.apk Gingerbread [DOWNLOAD]

Hi guys,
I was searching for this for a while and finally managed to find it.
This is the deodexed Email.apk from the Galaxy Tab Gingerbread ROM.
I just tried it on JVQ and it works. It should also work on the Galaxy S 2.3.3 ROMs.
To install it you should delete the Email.* from /system/app, then copy this Email.apk over to that location. I prefer to do this from CWM recovery.
After you replace the Galaxy S Email.* with this one, you probably need to Clear Data from the Email app if you were previously using it.
EDIT: Looks like REPLY, FORWARD or COMPOSE will cause the App to FC on stock JVQ rom.
Hardcore. It works on standard jvq.
Tnx

Do you know if the Gingerbread version adds new functionality or any other improvements in comparison to the Froyo version?

I don't know, but this version just works (so far) as a drop-in replacement for the stock email app. It's pretty fast and smooth too.
I this different from the one that Nitrality app installs - Nitrality might be the easier way to do it?
Does this have the bug where the bottom items get cut off?
Could anyone make an odexed version? Deodexed JVQ breaks browser, that's why I'm on odexed ROM... Thanks.
I'm using it with odexed JVQ.
But I just found that it will FC when replying or forwarding messages. Oh well... time to look for another version.

Install Stock ICS Messaging app? (mms.apk?)

So I tried looking for a solution and so far havent found anything
I like stock touchwiz (so far) mostly because of the Motion options Samsung introduced (AOKP and CM9 have yet to implement these)
I really liked the stock messaging app from ICS (coming from a Galaxy Nexus) and was wondering if there is a way of getting it on the S3
I tried pushing the stock "mms.apk" to the /system/app folder but it keep saying there is a conflict and cannot install (installing the stock gallery.apk worked though)
The S3 messaging app is called "Secmms.apk" , but even if i rename that and try installing the stock mms.apk it just said the install failed
Does anyone have any clue on how to install the stock ICS messaging app?
Thanks in advance!

Contacts is part of the dialler so you'll get into a mess if you try to change that, I did. I also changed the keyboard by putting in the latinIME.apk and then switching to it as the default input method. I find the stock keyboard quite unreliable.
If you use the CM gallery, as already posted, you can set the background screen image to be scrollable at the right resolution.

thanks for tweeting suroot!
I'm referring to the big circle with the sms icon that appears on the right center of the lockscreen that we used to get then a new sms arrives - then we drag it from the left to the right to open the sms application, that way we don't have to sacrifice one of the 4 shortcut slots for sms app
that's the one I was referring to, and it's gone now!

Do you have to have a deoxed ROM to replace the Email app for the stock one?

[Q] Possible to install AOSP Messaging app on TouchWiz ROM?

Hi all,
After trying out CM10.1, I've found it to be a little too unstable at this early stage and have flashed back to Wanamlite. I can live with TouchWiz for now, but the one app on TouchWiz I really can't stand is the Messaging/SMS app.
Is it possible to flash an AOSP/vanilla version of the Android messaging app onto my phone?
Would it need to replace the TouchWiz one, or would it work side-by-side with it?
Where could I get an up to date AOSP SMS app?
Any help would be great!

Its possible. It replaces the tw version. There is one in themes/apps section for the sprint s3. You have to push the file to system/app. Rename it and set perm.

Works a treat. A little bit different to the steps they advised though; putting mms.apk in the system/app folder with the correct permissions wouldn't work - I could put it in there, but the application wouldn't actually load when rebooted.
I then tried installing it as an APK, but no go; Android said there was another system app installed. So I moved secmms up one level, rebooted into recovery, fixed permissions, and now it's fine.

possible to make a single .apk out of this?
So the problem is that I lost root after the 4.3 update and I'm waiting for the root to pop up on the forum. But in the mean time wouldn't it be better to just make a .apk so that we all can install it like a regular app. Kinda like an update apk of the mms. What I mean is that you know how Google maps are preinstalled in the system and when an update comes up on play store, it just disables the built in maps and uses the newer maps when we open maps. That new maps apk sits outside the ROM and can be removed or installed anytime without needing root and at the same time adds new features.

Regular app (/data/app) requires its own signature and the way of the update as you say needs the congruence of the signatures.
