[APP][4.1+] Notif - Feb 27 - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

So I won't be keeping up with this thread anymore... Easier just to do one.
New thread here
Hey guys, I hope everyone is enjoying their Nexus 4. I know I am! I just thought I would promote my app to users who recently purchased the N4.
It is an app for Jelly Bean that allows you to create rich notifications for your device. 4.1 introduced expandable notifications, which I'm sure you all know about already. Notif leverages that and blends your own content with rich notifications to create sort of a note/reminder/list app for your notification shade. There are four types of notifications you can create: default text, big text, big picture, and a list. See what you can do with Notif for yourself!
Notif requires Android 4.1 or above.

Thanks

I just released an update to the free version that includes a lot of fixes. You can see the full change log here as always. I even update it with what I'm currently working on. Consider buying Notif Pro as it includes all the good features. Happy holidays!!

Just bought the paid app. Great app. Is there any way to put an alarm to a certain notif? Eg. I set myself a notif to recharge my prepaid mobile but need to set Al alarm to remind me later...

This is a highly requested feature and I'm definitely going to do it in the future. I have tons of ideas and I'm working on a few other things right now

Great work! Loving this app so far, bought Pro right away! Can't wait to spend some time with it and check out all the uses...right now I like being able to have a pull down picture of my kids Is there any reason to believe this will take up noticeable amounts of battery? I haven't had it long enough to tell...
Suggestion; Any way to choose any picture for the icon, such as other icon packs or just choose from gallery or file explorer?
Thanks, and again very nice work.

Nice app getting pro version

It shouldn't hurt the battery at all.
Right now the 20 icons in the free version and the 200 in Notif Pro are the only icons you can set. Maybe I'll add a feature to get an icon from the gallery in the future.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the response. There has been NO noticeable battery drain whatsoever since I've been using it. The included icons are great, just a thought that being able to use icon packs from the play store or gallery images would be a really great feature!
Looking forward to an update to fix the reset on reboot...other than that still loving this app.

There's 200 icons in Notif Pro, and more coming Only 20 in the free version. I've been thinking of ways to allow other sources for the icons, but I've got other things I need to work on first.
The reboot fix is being worked on now. It works, I just need to fix any bugs and test it a lot before pushing out an update. Hopefully by next week!

Ya pretty please include reminders for the notifications asap as I take medication to live it would very helpful. Will buy once included! Thank you!

Launch Now is a Google Now shortcut replacement app which can be launched in the same way as the Google Now app. By swiping upwards from the home button you can launch the app and it will allow you to launch any app that you like. When launched the app prompts the user with a dialog containing customizable apps which can be launched. A possible use case scenario would be if you use Twitter alot you can put your favourite Twitter app in one of the slots and access it at any time by simply swiping up from the home button or the lockscreen. The app is very fast and fluid and is in active development so more is to come soon. I've attached a free test version with 2 app slots that you guys can try out. Enjoy!
Here's the play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simon.LaunchNow
The youtube video shows the functionality pretty good:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XohEHWGrFHI
Just so you know; you can still access Google Now with this app installed, just add it as one of the launch options.
If you have any questions or requests whatsoever I'll be sure to answer them here

That's correct. Read the rules before posting, OP, specifically rule 11 in this case.
Also, I wouldn't consider this a Google Now replacement, it's more of an app launcher. Google Now does so much more than just launch apps, or provide shortcuts to apps.
Anyway, can't call it a Google Now replacement, maybe a Google Now shortcut replacement. To be considered a Google Now replacement it needs to be some kind of voice search service.
Anyway, cool idea but I don't think I would pay for this app, specially running a custom ROM such as AOKP which allows users to add shortcuts to the navbar ring, so you can have Google Now and any other app you need/want to on that ring.

What sort of funcionality do you think would make you (and other people too of course) buy it? Do you think perhaps toggles would be a god idea?
I downloaded and testing right now. Thank you.

Really like this app but are you planning to make the transition from the Launch Now menu to the chosen app smoother? Is it possible to incorporate the transition animation from jb into this? It'd b great to see the selected app come flying in from the top of the screen.
Also, the icon could use some work; it's hard to see it against white backgrounds.

I'll most definitevely try and make a JB animation, I've done it before in my other app so it shouldn't be all that hard. You're right about the icon, I'll make some changes later.
Thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: Animation added and some grapical bugs fixed, update has been released.

In my opinion, it's missing just the option to add just one app, like Swipe Launcher offers. Other than that it's faster than the other (2) alternatives available.

Not quite the animation I expected but cool nonetheless and also real smooth. It adds some variety into the mix and that's always a good thing.
All that's left is the icon. Looking forward to what you come up with.

Performence has been a huge focus during development. I'll create a option to just launch one app, look for it in the next update.

I tried the icon on a white wallpaper and it didn't look to bad at all. The icon you liked isn't avavible in 512x512 which is a requirement for app icons so I can't use that. I added a arrow to the existing icon and it looked pretty good, it'll be in the next version. For now I'm sticking to the animation, it's pretty cool i think.
Like I wrote in my review on the Store: It's fast
Though I purchased all the other alternatives available, I found this to be the fastest. Thanks for the option to launch just one app. Please don't sacrifice the speed in favor of more options.
Keeping my eye on this...

You can't add apps and it FCs all the time. Not to mention the weird code in the menu.

Yep this is the Nikk setup.
I ask him for PSD but no answer, I only found a link he gave to download the 3 different wallpapers in jpg.
So I opened my Photoshop and decided to realize these fresh icons (and uccw) from scratch as I wanted to set this on my girlfriend's GNex (freshly rooted XenonDH, Nova Prime) ... since I love her so much
So finally I made the icons I needed for her setup. But then I think to myself that maybe some of you here are interested , so decided to raise the number of icons in the set and then just upload psd and pngs here. (And increase your pupils life by preventing them from a too long exposure in front of an LCD screen
No Play Store stuff. As I don't have time to make the apk for each launcher. I just opened 1 go theme apk and well ... it's not so complicated. I barely got the idea on how to do it. The thing is, from what I've seen in the Go apk opened, when you turn an iconset into an apk you have to bind all activities and applications to the wanted icon, in severals XML files ... well, I've made this set 323 pieces large ... got my point lol ?

Oh man, don't even worry about it, the cart is fine I just overlooked it a million times.
I really want his wallpapers without the built in icons and widget. I might tackle it myself for personal use.
EDIT: Eghhh, there's no way to really replicate the exact layout without using Nikks method of having everything as part of the wallpaper.
I just can't get the icons close enough, plus they're too small (not complaining just stating haha).
Oh well, I still love everything that has been put into this. Thanks man.

If I were you here is what I will do.
I'm on GNex so assuming you're on Photoshop :
- new doc (720x1280),
- pick the starting and ending colors on nikk wallpaper.
- apply radial background,
- add noise filter,
- apply wallpaper to your phone.
- set it fixed.
- done.

Thanks, I actually already made the wallpaper, which turned out fine. I was stating that even with a 7x7 grid I can't replicate the placement of everything. Which is fine, I'm happy with what I achieved.

I'm also on a 7x7 grid (nova prime) with vertical and horizontal margin set to none. I've also set the swipe up move to hide/show the dock. Nikk says he uses ss launcher. Since you can place widget and icon wherever you want without grid restriction/auto align..

Sweet ROM man. I love seeing something new in the GNex forums. I seem to be getting a lot of lag in the notification pull down on the 4/9 build. Other than that great work.
Yeah we are still trying to figure that issue out..Only seems to happen when somehthing is downloading to me.. Also it doesnt seem to happen much with the bottom scroll toggles as opposed to the page toggles.. Let me know if you see it without it downloading something. Also check out our site theme threads.. seems some theme developers are starting work..

Can you be more specific. The download page on our site?
Laggy, half items aren't themed, notification bar has graphical issues (ad if I need to turn vsync on). No way to import theme properly, I have to copy/paste then kill them app to get it to recognize a theme.
Nice start, but needs a lot of work

Only see actually one big issue with what you have mentioned which is the grapical issue with notifications... (laggy) I dont get lag at all nor has many others. Import themes properly? If it is a bother to go out of ur way to copy a theme from ur download folder to the chaos theme folder then i dont know what to tell u... half items arent themed well then either you havent found a full theme yet or you didnt read that a miui.mtz onlly applies some items.. Poor review. Sorry if this seems harsh but i speak from the heart. leeech

If it is a bother to go out of ur way to copy a theme from ur download folder to the chaos theme folder then i dont know what to tell u... half items arent themed well then either you havent found a full theme yet or you didnt read that a miui.mtz onlly applies some items.. Poor review. Sorry if this seems harsh but i speak from the heart. leeech

Laggy, half items aren't themed, notification bar has graphical issues (ad if I need to turn vsync on). No way to import theme properly, I have to copy/paste then kill them app to get it to recognize a theme.
Nice start, but needs a lot of work

I have run the 4-7 and 4-8 nightly with AK kernels under clocked and under bolted without any lag. The more complete theming will come with time. I also have the notification bar chopiness, but it functions.

I tried this rom the other night. Good start. It was missing a few things that I like (but I don't expect everyone to try to meet my preferences). I still like the old style power widget and so far only carbon has it from what I have tried. And the stock launcher is nice, but could you add infinite scroll? No biggie, I normally use nova. Overall though it's nice, I like that something like this with all theme options. Thanks for the work.

One question, does it have the pop up sms like miui? (or can it be added)

I really like this ROM so far and I'm trying to stick with it but I've noticed some peculiarities with its performance using Franco, and as well as the drop down best graphical glitches which others have mentioned . I am a very heavy user and I like its functionality and look and feel.

[Can't wait!!!!!! ^o^]
I gave this a run for a while yesterday and I have to say that once the little "glitches" are ironed out, I would use it for sure! I think my only feature gripe was I dislike the CM style nav bar controls. You can't change the brightness or the highlight quickness or the color. Oh and I miss just the plain text battery icons. Otherwise, I think it's a great job and please keep it up! I will def give it a go again in the future!

Hello XDA friends,
How many apps on Play Store that sync your notes with Google Task? Many!
But since I didn t feel confortable with any of them I decided to make mine, with an alternative Holo UI, that take inspiration from Google Now, Google Keep, and made it more intuitive.
The app is mainly designed to make you feel all the features in your hands, even using a smartphone (tested on my 4.3" Galaxy S2 display) and offer simultaneusly 2 type of navigation: dropdown (useful to skip from a list to another when number of lists is huge) and swype.
This app as stated before lets you sync your current task with Google Task, so everything is synced to every device you got, with your PC and tablet, android, iOS and Windows!
Isn t it great?
Support to Dashclock (4.2), Password, Reminders, Due Date, all your lists are available and you ll never lose a meeting anymore thanks to notification feature (expanded notification for android 4.1+ users).
A touch of color to help you highlight your actions, nice animations and a complete settings menu to customize your app, your sincs, your passwords, your notifications.
You can even count on configurable widgets, with every size support and tons of customizations; and what about shortcuts?
Some screenshot following
And to always feel all under control and ready to use we can use widgets and shortcuts!
Shortcut may be used to open a selected list or to add a nu task in a selected list.. or both!
You can set an illimitate numeber of shortcuts obviously.
Widgets are fully customizable, you can set the order sorting, set if display as checklist or as simple notes, choose if display the content of the notes, the max lines of the title, every widget is fully resizable and got built in 3 buttons to open the list, add a nu task or simply reconfigure the widget.
So said that the word to you, hoping all Google Task users will enjoy!
For any kind of requests, bug tracking, feedbacks I' m here, just shout!
Cheers
Note: there are 2 versions, one for free and one donate that differs from free version for only 2 features: passwords and shortcuts.
You can use free version anyway, it s pretty complete and has dashclock integration too, has widgets, reminders, all the rest.
If u want to support just buy donate version, if don t want just enjoy, share and give some feedback for free version
It's looks great, Thanks!

Looks really nice, but in my opinion the size of the font is too big.. I've got only 3/4 Events on the screen, that is too little for me.. I think if the font-size is smaller it could be a really productive Application for me.. But with the big size it looks, in the app, really nice but the widget is useless for me until the size of the letters is smaller ..
But still thank you for the Application !

Minimal is best, I'll wait for updates.
If you want I can help with the translation of missing strings into Hebrew.
Send me PM with the XML file of the existing Hebrew translation. (Even my English is not so good, my Hebrew is excellent, so I can translate without problems)

[APP] [Android 4.4] Screen Brightness Filter covering bottom Navigation Bar

Hi guys.
Since the update to 4.4, which introduced the transparent nav buttons background + status bar, most screen filter (brightness overlay) applications on the market have problem of covering the bottom transparent navigation buttons.
If you have a Nexus 4, Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 with 4.4 and stock launcher or new Nova beta launcher, turn on the filter make them look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So I made my own overlay filter app to fix the bottom nav bar not being covered.
Download: Play Store: Brightness Filter
KNOWN ISSUE: All overlay filter interfere with manual apk installation via a File Manager. The work around is to disable brightness filter when you need to install an apk using a File Manager.
Changelogs:
v2.2 2014-02-07
- new application icon
v2.1 2013-12-11
- changed notification icon to Android notification style
v2 2013-11-26
- added opacity control when the app is launched.
- fix bug that sometimes the filter is restarted by Android system.
- remove support for older versions of Android (now support 4.1 and up) --> app is now much smaller in size
v1 2013-11-23
- initial release
Enjoy if this helps you. Tell me if you have any problem.

Nice. But how come you just don't turn the brightness down? Just wondering.
I have power toggles app and gives me the option to adjust custom brightness by toggle button

Thx I was waiting for this! This was a problem for me even b4 4.4 because of the ips display the black navbar was very bright. And always applying a new color profile with Francos FKU was annoying

Just tested and the actuall buttons are still bright but the navbar is dark:thumbup: i think this is rom related or would need root?

Go into preferences>toggle settings>brightness, add custom level of brightness, I believe lowest setting is 1(0%) still visible.
I just tried it and I'm missing something, I swear there was a setting for pitch black screen, I'll look into it in a bit. Unless they removed that option on recent update.

The nav buttons can't be dimmed by the system overlay.
And yes, changing the navigation buttons requires root.
Some roms allow you to modify the navigation buttons like: Cataclysm allows you to fade nav buttons, and I think AOKP, Cyanogen allow you to change the color of nav buttons.
Perfect
Been looking for such app since long. Finally search ends here ! Excellent work. Hope to see features like screen filter in your app. :good:
Thanks! Even on level 0; Nexus 4 is way too bright. I will try this.

On my Moto X (stock 4.2, root) after applying the filter, opening the app drawer causes the entire screen to go black. This also happens in most apps, Chrome being an exception.

I'm sorry, I don't have Moto X so I have no idea. I'll research into it and find out.
Are you planning on update to newer version of Android ? 4.3, 4.4
As requested I updated the app: Changed notification icon to fit with the Android notification style.
You should see the new update from Google Play soon.
Enjoy.

Absolutely, but I'm on Republic Wireless and they're not pushing 4.4 until February. Since they have some necessary proprietary software, I can't easily load up a 4.4 image.
This is awesome dude! Could you also update the logo of the app drawer? Maybe skipping the gray background and increasing its resolution so it looks great on GEL... just a couple of suggestions. Thanks for your hard work!

I'm glad you like it. But I'm not a graphic designer. I'll try to clear it up. If you or someone can provide me with the logo design, that would be great.
Would you consider making implementing a Tasker plugin, so we can start the app with a given opacity setting? Maybe also with a way to turn off the app via the Task plugin too? I found that very useful with Screen Filter, since I only had it on during certain hours.

Tasker plugin or no, just being able to start the app at a given opacity without the slider showing up would be great.
