Yes, if the phone is SIM unlocked, that will work.

Does rooting a custom rom unlock sim?

Hi my friend just won a Samsung galaxy s3 from Telus but he is on the fido network. Does rooting and flashing a custom rom unlock the phone so that he can use a fido sim card in the Telus phone?

Did you find an answer to your question? I am wondering about the same thing

Moving to england from america.

I have an att note 2. And I will be moving to the united kingdom in a few months. Is it possible to use a carrier there with my i317? With some software and a sim card? Or will I have to get a new phone?
If so what carriers will work?

Your speeds wont be as good considering they run on different bands. I suggest trading for an n7100 or n7105 before you go

If it only has 3g your good. From my latest experience with an n7105 and i317 having the n7105 here gives you a gb2 with 3g and having an i317 gives you 3g in England

I'd recommended orange UK or everything everywhere

Yes, it will work.
You're actually better off getting the T-Mobile S4 as the new batch of AT&T S4s have their bootloader locked and can only achieve root, no custom recovery or ROMs.

My dad got a galaxy s 3 from AT&T and he wants to use it with a T-Mobile sim card. Should he have AT&T unlock it or will installing cyanogenmod 10.2 work?
Try this..... did it to my S3 & S4

I'm also on MF3 w/ SafeStrap using STOCK ROM (SGH-i337) and this "Region Lock" by chainfire unlocked my SIM. I can now use a T-Mobile SIM and its recognized fine.

Follow this guide. It's free and easy. You do have to be on a Touchwiz based Rom.
