[Q] PACMAN ROM + reboot randomly shows fresh installation - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everyone, i have this problem:
I have installed PACMAN 2.54 ROM few days back and suddenly today with 70% battery i saw that it is switched off. Pressing the power button won't start it and hence i made a cold reboot (power button + trackball + volume down keys) and the phone started. But it showed a fresh installation of paranoid rather than starting with my existin installation and launcher, apps, etc. Any suggested solution how to restore to my previous installation?

Power Button Issues

Hello everyone, first time posting but I have been on the forums for some time now.
I have searched, but now my issue is more specific so I wanted to post about it.
I am running Cyanogen Mod 11 from around december time 2013.
Tonight out of the blue my device has been restarting and staying turned off, no indications previous and no new apps or recent changes etc. I looked up these issues and it points to the power button being stuck.
-I replaced the battery with a different one
-Booted into clockwork mod, trying to navigate to wipe cache etc and it would reboot the device before I made it there (did this many times)
-Trying to boot it normal and it wouldn't make it far without a reboot
-Took the device apart and cleaned up etc, took out the battery and held power and tried again (many times). No avail.
-Looked online for replacement buttons and saw what I would need to do, so I tried to unsolder the power button but to no avail.
This is where things looked up!
-Turned the device on and booted into CWM and did a backup successfully!
-Wiped devilk cache and normal cache (mind my spelling please), and rebooted.
-Made it to the starting up the apps (from the devilk wipe), and to the main screen to see "shutting down" as if the power button was still being pressed.
-Tried again many times, but still the same result.
-Did a key test in CWM and it doesn't show the power button being pressed, unless I press it (all other buttons worked fine).
So that is where I am at, I tried to do a reinstall of cyanogenmod with the windows installer but it wont detect it as before. Any suggestions? Thanks!
What bootloader are you on? I would restore to stock for your current version of bootloader or newer by ODINing the stock tar. Then try the CM process again.

[Q] Soft-bricked phone after installing custom kernel

Hi Everyone! I'm pretty new to Android stuff in general, and it looks like I soft-bricked my phone while trying to install a custom kernel.
Currently, my phone is running the latest beta of PA (pa_m8-4.6-BETA1-20140902).
I was trying to install custom kernel franco.kernel. Quick googling told me this is possible and the process was to boot into recovery (I'm using TWRP), make a backup, clear cache and dalvik cache, reboot into bootloader and then use fastboot to flash the new boot.img. Was this process correct, or was I already destined for failure?
After doing that whole process, the phone no longer boots properly. When powering on the phone, I see the initial HTC screen popup, and then the screen goes black. This stays this way forever unless I hold power + vol up, which will just restart the phone and the same thing happens. No other keys or key combinations do anything. Holding power or power + vol down does nothing. Holding power + both volume is the same as holding power + vol up. I have also tried holding the power button while holding the phone under a bright light; this has had no effect.
Unfortunately, I can't take a video of this behavior, however it appears this youtube video shows the same behavior:
CPCVecKSPAA (sorry can't post links because I'm new)
The only differences between my behavior and the youtube video are:
1. I am using AT&T instead of international version
2. At the initial screen, I see the red warning text.
Currently, my plan is to wait for the battery to die and then plug it in and try to boot into recovery with power + vol down. Does anyone know anything else worth trying?
Thanks !
Just refresh the rom... That will restore the PA kernel.
I was able to get my phone into bootloader via the following:
1. Plug phone into PC.
2. Press power + vol up + vol down.
3. As soon as charge LED turns off, release vol up.
Once I was in bootloader, I got my phone working by going into recovery and then restoring my backup.

Soft Bricked i never seen!

Hello, I was attempting to install CM 12.1 on my M8 and while trying to change the kernel to SkyDragon it started to go into a bootloop. While not really thinking i wiped everything (i seriously mean everything) with TWRP. So i rebooted my phone and now its been on the White HTC logo screen with the build warning at the bottom. I attempted to shutdown the phone and go back into TWRP but no luck. Any help? Thanks! :good:
Hold power + vol up to force a reboot (could take up to 20 seconds). AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK slide from vol up to vol down. This will take you to your bootloader, where you can enter recovery (choose hboot, the option is in there) and restore a backup.

Stuck !!

I flashed my backup Phoenix rom v2.0 using twrp
And after going through regular procedures its been on this screen for more than 30 minutes now
It also makes a weird triple vibration when i press volume down home and power

The device is starting with MIUI RECOVERY MODE 5.0 every time.

Hi there, So I rooted my Device Poco M2 Pro without TWRP watching some random Youtuber (This Video). But After a few weeks, I got bored and tried to Unroot it by Completely uninstalling Magisk. So after pressing the uninstall button it rebooted my phone and my phone started with MIUI RECOVERY 5.0 I tried several methods to exit that recovery mode but none of them worked, finally after 15 min of struggle and anxiety "Long press (power button + Vol - key)" saved my life, but now every time I reboot my device or power it on that MIUI RECOVERY 5.0 shows up and I've to repeat the same step again and again. It's frustrating . I know I messed up so can you please help me to remove that RECOVERY MODE 5.0. I'm totally new to this android stuff so please save my life.
