Samsung drivers - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Got an s3 for the better half and it came in today.. Will my drivers I installed for my note do the trick or will I have to mess with them and reinstall? I figured I should prob be good but wanted to check.. Mine were installed per the tool kit. And I plan on using the s3 tool kit for her root..

I've had nothing but problems on 2 different Galaxy Note 2 phones since I installed the drivers from the SPH-L900 toolbox.
I have trouble believing that this is normal. Mine was fine until I rooted it with the toolbox. Now, I don't want to take anything away from the developers that created the toolbox...If it wasn't for them and their immense generosity, then I wouldn't have a rooted phone. I just fail to see what has happened between having the phone stock without root and it having zero issues with hardware id missing and being able to be recognized by my pc, to the quick toolbox root and the same troubles with 2 different phones in 2 weeks.

I don't say for certain, but it looks like they use the same software: USB GS3: ver 1.5.14 versus GN2 USB ver 1.5.14. Thus, you'll probably be ok.

Are you using the usb cord that came with the phone? If you are throw it away, its worthless. Had that problem with my s1

Actually no. I'm using the cheapy i keep always attached to my pc. I have to use the one that came with the phone with the mhl adapter because the cheapy cord has too much resistance and not enough power goes through which causes excessive battery drain

Phone wont charge

It says
Your phone is using more current than the charger can supply.
It happened out of nowhere too. Its weird. Any suggestions. I've tried reverting back to old Rome I had backed up. No luck. I've also tried a 3rd party extended battery. No luck there either. I originally rooted with the revolutionary root tool. How can I unroot and go to stock in case I need to have Verizon look at it ?

That could possibly be it. It seems the charging port was built poorly

I just held down the USB cord down with my hand and was able to charge the phone without the message popping up. Now I just need help unrooting. It seems there are two ways of unrooting depending on the way u originally rooted. I rooted with the revolutionary tool and can't find out how to unroot. I could only find instructions on how to unroot if u rooted using alpha revx

it is the same way, you just need to flash the stock hboot and thats it.
also seems like the usb ports on these phones are constantly goning out it's happened twice to me on brand new dinc 2's
So I got back to the stock 2.2.1 Rom with s off by following the alpha revx unroot procedure. I want able to change my hboot though. Tomorrow I'm gonna see if I can get a replacement. Wish me luck lol

you can change hboot by flashing cwm and root files to the phone then using adb over wifi and use the unroot guide then update to gb, i did it 2 days ago

What should i do?

By a blackberry cable for it. Bad cables imo are the only real cause of true bricks.

Send the epic to me.. pay for shipping back and forth and youll have a rooted epic.
I've recently tested my newest laptop to ensure my cable is not faulty in anyway... just odined back to stock not too long ago will do it again just in case anythings changed.. so i know i wont brick it oh and it wont cost 100$ #ripped-off.
asurion charges 100 bucks for a new one.....and how long do you think you would take for a service like that? would be interested.....

Not sure could be the drivers if you have any other mobile drivers unistall them and only install the drivers found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Also could be you need a new cable or need to use a different usb port if you haven't tried that. Clean the usb ports on the pc and the epic. There are some variables that can cause it not to detect.

i'm using my samsung moment cable with no problems. I got my 5th epic and thought I bricked it 3 times so far. but I popped the battery out plugged the phone into the pc and bam dl mode. but qbking has awesome videos I would try re installing the drivers. dont give up.

The computer makes all the difference in the world, believe it or not. I thought I had bricked my phone on one computer then successfully odined it on another using the same exact files I used on the first one, copied files over through my home network from one comp to the other not new downloads, and the same USB cable. Worked like a charm like it always does on that computer.

What kind of puter? You got the right samsung drivers?
I tried on my laptop (Mac) and desktop (windows) and yes they have the right drivers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well your mac laptop won't need drivers. If it's plugged in and your phone has the settings box checked for "MTP" then it'll be recognized. Did you download Android File Transfer? You'll need it to transfer files.
Is USB debugging checked? If so, uncheck it and try to install the drivers again. If you can't, shoot me your Gmail and I'll help you through G Talk.
Custom kernel? Make sure USB fast charge is off.
Ok! I tried the new cable that came with the replacement and it works just fine... its weird that the cable I have is not working anymore..

"Made in Korea" means it was manufactured by Samsung directly and not outsourced to some factory in China.
If you're unhappy with the signal drops you can try to get another replacement, or look at the threads here on signal drops for solutions
Yeah! I'm looking for ways to fix it.. but the one I had was made in china and was brilliant no drops nor anything. I curse the day I dropped and cracked the screen.. do you think I can just go to the Verizon store and ask them for a replacement

If you're within the return period, they will replace your device no questions asked. If you're over it, it would depend on the store you go to but more likely than not you have a good chance.
Just make sure you're stock and not rooted
I called yesterday and after a couple of minutes well an hour to be exactly they're going to send me a new device. That's what she said. But since today is 4th of July the phone should be here by tomorrow..

Phone not charging with Samsung chargers

So a few days ago my 2 month old s3 stopped charging, but only with Samsung chargers. I have tried 3 different ones so far. It seems to charge just fine with any other charger, htc, Motorola, ect. I used an air gun and cleaned out the charging port, but to no avail. I am stock except rooted. Haven't really installed anything recently. My question, do I bother sending it in for repair, or should I live with it? I don't want to have to unroot and backup everything to send it in if its only going to do it again in a few months. Anyone else have this problem?

Did you try a different Samsung charger with the same cord? Or even a different Samsung charger with a different cord?
I have tried 3 different chargers and cords. 2 at home, and one at work. The whole issue is extremely odd to me.

Might be the USB port.... in which case you should ask for a replacement phone.
Don't bother with all the drama. It's an easy fix. Go on ebay, find an s3 charging port and replace it yourself. You just remove the battery, unscrew the back panel, and then port just snaps on and off. Take it off and snap the new one in place.
And I'd make a nandroid and then flash a custom rom.. See if it's software related.. If not, that means it's hardware.. But if you really want, talk to sprint, they have to give you a new one if manufacturer defect like that.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Sounds pretty easy to fix. Not sure if I want to void the warranty yet though.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
You wouldn't be voiding the warranty I don't think. Not to mention there's no way for them to know. Where the port is located, doesn't have any warranty seals or anything. I don't think any of the phone does besides maybe along the antenna. Check out some YouTube videos and you'll see how simple it is. No saudering drama. Just simple clip on and off kinda like a button

I have a similar problem: I have the same model phone, and I found that I can only charge using a data cord, not a generic charging cord. I can't imagine the reason, but I have found that unless a charger utilizes a true data cord, charging won't happen.

[Q] Can't connect to PC :S

I just bought a LGOG from a friend and just noticed that it's impossible for my win8 laptop to recognize the device... I tried using my wife's ol' Win7 powered netbook without luck.
As anyone been through this and found a solution for this issue? I've tried all the versions available and none of them work. I'm running an AMD powered 64 bit Win8 laptop (my wife's netbook runs on an Intel processor.)
Thanks in advance for the help.

This happened to me on my first lgog. Turned out it was a broken pin. Best thing to do now, if you have insurance, is to get it replaced. I know you probably don't want to hear this but trust me I know how you feel.
idk how I got here...
