Debrand or Convert T-Mobile Note II to AT&T Note II - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

ok my question is this,
I am trading up an old iPhone 4s for a T-Mobile Galaxy Note II, is it possable to debrand or install AT&T rom on this phone to make it an AT&T phone?
or any kind of work around to get it running on AT&T LTE network

Thanks
P.S. i do not have the phone in hand yet so i am asking if it is worth the trade

I know the tmobile note 2 is capable of lte but.it's not enabled in the default firmware, and I'm not sure if the frequencies will be the same as tmo hasn't even started rolling out their lte. My guess is it's the same hardware, but I would do as much searching as possible before doing the trade. If it's possible, I'm sure someone here at xda will get it working if it's possible, but it hasn't been out long enough for any definitive info. (At least nothing I've seen)

It should run on the AT&T HSPA+ (3.5G) network with no problems (as long as it's carrier/SIM unlocked) as the phone should have the 850/1900 GSM bands that AT&T uses. I'm not sure about LTE...but I don't think it will work.

Buy T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 to use on AT&T?

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 5 on AT&T and am not happy with the small screen size after coming from a GNex. Thinking about getting a GN2, like the phablet idea since I really don't talk much on my cell. I know I can wait until next week to get the 4G LTE AT&T version at full price($649) or I could buy the unlocked international version without LTE. I don't live in an area that has LTE or will get LTE soon. What do you guys think about my buying the GN2 from Tmobile at their no-contract price($649), unlocking via ebay to use on AT&T? This way seems easier to return in case I change my mind(considering the Nexus 4 and 10 for the same price) than buying online, plus the resale should be better right? Will the TMobile version work with AT&T LTE(if I move in the future)?
Thanks

It wont work with LTE since it doesn't have that band. If you intend to use AT&T I would just wait it out honestly.

wait it out, get the AT&T version, U will want LTE when it comes to your city and AT&T is expanding quite often
Actually the T-Mobile Note II does support LTE on the 1700/2100 bands. It's just not enabled right now. I agree with the others, wait out the AT&T verson.
...and I can't get the LTE to work on my unlocked TMOB

So, wait... You're planning to spend $650 on the AT&T Note 2, and you don't have LTE in your area, nor is it planned any time soon? If LTE isn't an issue for you, and you're in a position where you're going to be forced to pay full price anyway, why not just buy the international unlocked N7100 instead? It's available for less than $650 now if you shop around, and on top of that, you'll benefit from better development support, and you won't be missing features.
i'm having this same problem!!!! i have a 2 year plan with ATT. i don't get LTE in my area, should i just buy the unlocked n7100 right now off amazon? how do i activate it with ATT? idk wtf to do! i'm worried i'll get real slow data on it in my area
It's being released this week. Just wait. At least that way you'll have the AT&T LTE bands available if needed. You can always unlock the AT&T GN2.

There are many T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2's on craigslist in my area for around $500. Does anyone know if these will work on AT&T at all? I know the LTE won't work but just wondering if they're unlocked or stuck on T-Mobile only?

The most stupid comment i had read in a while. Dont flash different carrier modems if you do not want to brick your phone. Great advice you give to users ropqir.
Unlock the T-Mobile Note 2 and you will get HSPA on AT&T's network.
No Flashing required.

You apparently don't know anything about flashing..So if you were educated you would know that it does work and in fact confirmed method to work on other (t-mobile) carriers..
Flashing a different rom will cause bricking not modems. Learn to research..This is all in AT&T section..
At the time t-mobile didn't have the galaxy note so people bought the att version and flashed the modems and changed the apn to make it work on there network...Now that you want a t-mobile device to work on AT&T its the same process just use the att modem and att apns...

[Q] ATT Note 2 on tmobile

Hi guys,
I'm planning to get an att note 2. However I have a question: if the note 2 is unlocked this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34995743&posted=1#post34995743, what kind of connection will it get from tmobile? 3G? 4G?
Does anyone have an experience?
Thanks,

I`m not sure on the bands but I do know the T-Mobile Version works on AT&T And I would assume it would be the same vice versa but need someone to confirm. Also T-mobile does not have 4G they have 3G/HSPA+

Thanks hyelton. Why not making note 2 penta band? It already costs 600 to 700, I think it's reasonable to ask this functionality. I think samsung is one of the companies who likes to make as many models as possible.
In case you weren't aware, as I wasn't at first, there is a forum dedicated to AT&T galaxy note 2. The threads there may help, as I know I've seen tmobile mentioned a lot in thread topics.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

i think the carriers have a lot to say about that too. It seems they all want their versions to be different. I'm really surprised that Samsung was able to pull off giving the carriers virtually identical S3's and Notes. Seems like Samsung is growing some Apple sized balls.
T-Mobile's thirteen Android phones, the myTouch 4G, T-Mobile G2 and the Samsung Vibrant are the most impressive. If high speed 4G connectivity is important the myTouch 4G is brilliant. If you need a physical keyboard go with the G2. And if size is important the Samsung Vibrant is a neat little phone.

[Q] Looking to purchase a Note II and had some questions

((( I moved this post from General to Q&A ))
I'm looking a purchasing a Samsung Note II that will be used on AT&T network. Since my upgrade is a year away, I have a Skyrocket that's only a year old, this phone will be a full price for me. I'm trying to find out some specific questions on the different Note II phone types, euro vs North America and what preloaded software differences are between them.
* the Note II that I purchase MUST have 4G LTE (AT&T FINALLY turned on 4G LTE in North East OKLA about 4 weeks ago! ..LOVEING IT).
* 10 minutes after I purchase the phone and verifying that everything is in working order it gets rooted.
I can purchase the phone from AT&T for full retail for 649. Best Buy said they would match that price (we'll see if they really do). When at Best Buy I asked about the preloaded software on the Note II (sense they do not have a working model on the floor) I was told in a blunt tone that it was an AT&T phone so it would work on AT&T's network.
Question---
1. Is the AT&T Note II phone that Best Buy sells have the same preloaded junk that comes on the one at the AT&T store?
2. Is the AT&T Note II phone that Best Buy sells been stripped of some of the Note II futures like the one at the AT&T store?
-- I read on an Amazon review the following http://www.amazon.com/review/R2Q2WM4I4VO8J7/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R2Q2WM4I4VO8J7
Be aware that the AT&T version of the Galaxy Note II is currently missing various standard functionality that Samsung is marketing and the other major carriers provide- missing functionality include:
~Multiview
~Group Shot Camera mode - with the ability to change faces
~Mobile data toggle
~Blocking mode toggle
~Screen Recorder
Since I am trying to get the most bang for my buck (a lot of bucks) which Note II phone that will work on AT&T that has 4G LTE should I be looking at?
(note- I suffered waiting on an ICS update from AT&T, so not having to depended on AT&T for my Android updates is a big plus)
Any advise or pointers is appreciated
Thanks
1.yes
2.yes
I will never buy a phone with a att stamp on it.
This PSA was Swyped out on my Paranoid Note 2 N7100
non carrier branded
So if I go with an unlocked phone- non carrier branded, which model number should I get that will work on AT&T and have LTE?
I saw this on another review-
Update: LTE! There are many people commenting about this. Apparently there's a version of the international Note 2 (not the N7100) that sports LTE, the model number is N7105 and it comes with "LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100" (Sources: GSM Arena, Engadget and XDA forums). If you have a N7100 the LTE radio is simply not there. However this is not guarantee that the N7105 will work with AT&T's or Tmo's LTE, it all depends if those frequencies are compilant with those carriers' respective LTE signals. As LTE network compatibility can be a deal breaker for many people within the US, I suggest you to research very well before buying it. If someone can squeeze any info out of AT&T or Tmo, please comment. To shed more light on this issue, you can Google the xda thread 1917383. (Geez, all this makes me feel kinda happy I don't have to worry about LTE compatibility yet).
The only way to get lte with a note on att is with their model. If you can live with out lte the get N7100.in San Diego I get around 8mb down and around 2 up.
This PSA was Swyped out on my Paranoid Note 2 N7100
If you get the N7105, it will have LTE, but in the wrong bands for AT&T.
GT-N7105 (International Note 2): 800/1800/2600
SGH-i317 (AT&T Note 2): 700/850/AWS/1900
See how those don't line up?
I'd just get the 7100. You'll get 21mbps with that on AT&T with HSPA+ and you won't have any carrier BS. HSPA+ is pretty dang quick.
Might want to check this site too http://www.dailysteals.com/ got a good deal on note 2's today.
I am running the 7100 on AT&T in Phoenix. The lack of LTE does not bug me too often as the HSPA+ is good enough for my needs.
However, the OP stated that they would be rooting the phone. As such a clean bloat-free ROM for the AT&T phone would work on LTE. I have not been in the AT&T forums, but I assume there are bloat-free ROMs with all the missing features turned on.

Yes I plan on rooting the phone and installing a clean bloat free ROM. (rant) I just wanted to buy a phone with all the futures the EU version has and without the silly branding/bloat that carriers do, all they do is muck up the phone.

[Q] Using a T-Mobile Note 2 on AT&T?

Hello,
I have the ability to purchase a T-Mobile Note 2 right now. The problem is my carrier is AT&T. I'm not interested in getting LTE to work only HSPA+, but will that even work? To do it, would I have to unlock it, how would I do that? Also once it is unlocked and working with AT&T, would I flash AT&T Note 2 ROMs or the T-Mobile Note 2?
Thanks,
Chughes13x
Man, how many of these TMobile on ATT posts do there have to be? Search before posting!
Yes it works, I get 8Mbps down on good days, worst I have seen is 2 Mbps. You will have to unlock your phone, SEARCH for the free unlock. I've seen it posted here, in the N7100 forums and S3 forums. You should be able to find easily. For roms, stick with the TMobile roms on a TMobile phone.
If you don't have plans on going to TMobile or LTE, I would suggest the N7100 international version. More rom development, faster firmware leaks and releases. I also got better battery life out of my N7100. I kind of wish I would not have traded my N7100 for the TMobile Note2. The TMobile version is easier to hack if you want to put it on an ATT dumb phone plan.

Verizon Note 8 on AT&T - Current Status?

Dear Friends,
Hope everyone is well. As a side effect of having wealth of knowledge, reading through the forums here I believe the answer to my question is still, "yes" however, I would still like to confirm and make sure:
If I buy a Verizon Note 8 today, whether it's from Ebay, Swappa, Craigslist and etc and whether the user did or did NOT update to the latest Bootloader version and firmware version (Oreo)... Is it still possible to use some combination of firmware, Bootloader, CSC and etc to convert the Verizon Note to an AT&T Note or the unbranded US Note 8 and still have unrestricted, full functionality on AT&T?
If, yes, indeed, can you please point me to the right guide and files so that I can go through my purchase?
Appreciate your help in advance!
Any input, friends? Trying to buy a Note 8 based on your expert opinions ?... Thanks!
I converted my VZW note 8 to AT&T and used it flawlessly for a few months. This was before Oreo was released. I've since switched it back to VZW.
While on AT&T, volte & wifi calling worked as well.

It is always best to get the carrier brand you intend to be on....
But if you can't pass on a deal, yes you can follow switching carrier guide to turn a Verizon Note into an ATT Note....
On the one hand if you need to move between carriers or around the world, it be better to get the Verizon phone even for the AT&T network because it gives you CDMA + Quad-Band GSM. If you are going to stick with one carrier, if you get a newer phone, it will probably support 100% of their current and soon-to-be bands while the Verizon might only support 90%. That might make a difference in aggregation. Depending on the company, they might not allow you to use aggregation or VOLTE or Wi-Fi calling without their branded phone, although ajent above has had luck with at least 2 out of 3 of those by using a Verizon phone on an AT&T network.
