Anyone else notice... - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Not that this thread helps with the clutter, but has anyone else noticed the dramatic increase of repeat threads? Does anyone ever read anymore? I've came across multiple imei threads, wayyyy to many threads about people complaining about losing root, and numerous other repeat threads, what gives? Forget Kies, and flash a pre-rooted stock rom via odin. Pretty darn simple if you ask me. I'm not the brightest, but after my debacle with CM7 on my captivate, I learned to figure things out myself, or keep reading until I was comfortable with going through the process. I just don't get it. If you need to ask a question, I'm sure there is already a thread going on the topic, ASK THERE. Ok I'm done.

Any one have root for ota

My dinc2 came with 2.3 update looking for root

Nope and probably wont be for a couple weeks.
Really? Not to be a **** but this has been questioned and answered a ton of times. A little searching would have yielded great results. And if there was a root method, there wouldn't be a sticky saying not to OTA.

To be blunt you are a **** I've been around long enough that I wouldn't post the question if I hadn't searched these forums as well as google search and just found more dicks saying if you had just searched but no posting a link or anything helpful just wasting time and space with replies that are not helpful nor productive such as yours

So after searching the forums and Googling, what conclusion did you come up with? I would think that after being around long enough, if you search and don't find anything about as big of a topic as root for Gingerbread, then root hasn't been achieved yet.
Also, as I answered your question, "And if there was a root method, there wouldn't be a sticky saying not to OTA."

People are forgetting that XDA is a developer forum. This isn't androidforums.com, where beginner questions belong. And they throw a hissy whenever someone treats them as such.
And before you say I'm not a developer, so why I am I here; you're right, I'm not a developer. But I also don't start threads asking obvious questions.
Good day, sir

I mean more along the lines where devs can let us know what is going on and how far they are. I think the reason there are so many threads is because slot of us have no idea what's going on with it. I am not as smart as all of are gifted devs but I would like to still know. That's just imo

I understand people replying that it has been posted not to do the ota if you want s-off, I had s off and was rocking cm7, however I dropped my phone it hit a rock and screen was no more, insurance claim done I now have my new phone and it already had 2.3.3, so this question is valid, people just want to know is there any work or progress towards getting s-off on 2.3.3 via software.

either way, if you were unlucky enough, as some of us were, to recieve inc2's with GB already, then we are screwed. temporary though it might be. Someone somewhere is no doubtedly working on a GB exploit.
Patience my good people. its works wonders.
that or go throw away money on a clip from china to perm root.
personally, i'd rather give my money to these devs here, but thats just my double dose of penny.

All that you have to do is use the search button here on XDA or Google it....But since it looks like you are a newer member of XDA, I will try to help you out. Here on XDA, you can find an answer to just about any question you can think of by using search. If you go to the development section of your phone make, there should be a thread on how to root and add roms to your device. I also like the galaxys3root.com website for video tutorials and rom reviews. Also YouTube has a lot of videos. Just make sure that the rooting method is for your specific phone/carrier or you could do bad things to your expensive phone. That goes for any type of modding you do. Take your time with each step of rooting and you will be fine. It's easier than it looks. Hope this helps. Any questions, just message me.
There are so many threads started for this exact question. So obviously you have done no reading and shouldn't touch your phone until you do. This is how we get the "OMG I BRICKED MY PHONE HELLLPPPP" threads.

Thanks. I can't dev but I help where I can. You can use this tool to do the same:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andromo.dev80417.app176212 or just use the website. It's fun for a bit of light hearted sarcasm.

but than people wont get to ask the same repetitive question 10 posts in a row or heaven forbid they have to page surf for an answer
I've found that a lit of searching has to do with using the right keywords

Yes, but look at the general and q&a, you will see 2-3 which rom for my wife/gf threads near the top. If you are a member and can post, simply looking first would answer the question. I was a noob once too. Still not a pro by any means. I just encourage people to try first, as the forum itself asks the same. Often a search will answer a question quicker than asking and waiting for replies.

If that was directed at me, am I to assume sarcasm is lost? Because if you can't find it, I would direct you to the first post in this thread. It's right there.
Also, if you check the threads I referred to, I did give my opinion. That was my point. I and several people had answered the question already, more than once, yet people still insist on starting another thread.

Noob needs help rooting Gs4

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Read, read, read and search and then search again and read again and you will be just fine
Thank you very very much!!!
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I really was not trying to come off rude, if I did I do appologize. For you to really be able to do it and do it right you need to read up in the threads, I know there are a lot of pages but you will find a lot of information about things that worked and did not work.
If you did not do the update when you got your phone go to the motochopper root thread in the general section and follow the instructions. I have been rooting phone for about 4 yrs, since the G1 was released and I never decided to even join XDA until about a year later. I did all on my own by just reading and searching the forums.
Again was not trying to be rude, just passing on how I did it and most of the people here also did it.
Use the motochop method if you didnt update your device to MDL. Its super easy and fast.

Thanks guys I got it rooted I appreciate your help.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Please read up on rooting before you actually root it. You could brick your device and If you're a noob it will be hard to recover it.

Why reply to posts if your not going to help. Maybe the devs should make a room for ignorant ppl to go to and complain about someone trying to accomplish a tweek. Isn't that the whole idea behind technology? If your not going to help, don't post. Anyway I have a s4 on its way. Will see if I can't port the app for you. Anything else you like in the s4 software?
