is there an app that customizes your ringtones/textones to each of your contacts? - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

as the title states
is there such an app?
ot: and is there an iOS app that saves your contact list to a file, then i email that file to my android phone so i have my contacts to my nexus4?
basically saving contacts from the iphone to android phone

when I switched from iOS to Android a while ago, I just added Google Sync to my iPhone and saved everything there. When I got my Android, first thing it asked my was, of course, my Google account... click, and BAM! All my contacts were there, right away.

You can assign ringtones to individual contacts with the built in people app.

Now I can't select my ringtones.notifications. anymore... it doesn't give me option esfile explorer. Only shows media storage and zedge?

You can try Group Ringtones (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appventive.groupring&feature=search_result). It lets you change the ringtone for a group of people, which is quicker and easier to do than contact by contact.

i went with ringo PRO! nice app

[Q] App or mod for Contacts to Hide peeps?

Was wondering if it could be possible to add a function or a app to Hide people listed in contacts. I used to own a Samsung Rant and it had a setting to put people listed in "hide contact."
Anyone? =/

If you sync with Google, you can assign them to a certain group, then not show that group.
Awesome =) thankyou sir.
Sent from my Epic 4G using XDA App
Like previous post said, just assign them to a different group in Google Contacts and choose not to display/sync that group.
Personally I just made an "Android" group and strictly monitor that group as it's the only group I sync from Google Contacts. Adding a new contact requires I go to the Google Contacts website and add them to that group manually if I want them on my sync list. After spending 3 hours cleaning up "My Contacts" when I first got my Epic, this step is nothing compared to having loads of erroneous contacts on my phone.
Also, selecting the option to only display contacts with phone numbers helps out with Facebook syncing if you happened to select sync all FB friends, rather than manually adding specific friends.

Facebook (Accounts & Sync)

Morning all!
if I go into accounts & sync, add account, Facebook
nothing happens, it goes back to the list which has Google & Twitter in it. I have Facebook installed
any ideas?
cheers
The Facebook App needs an update to use the API and sync the contacts i guess.

We believe it is very important that users are able to control their data. So in the over-the-air update for Nexus S, we have a small change to how Facebook contacts appear on the device. For Nexus S users who downloaded the Facebook app from Android Market, Facebook contacts will no longer appear to be integrated with the Android Contacts app. Since Facebook contacts cannot be exported from the device, the appearance of integration created a false sense of data portability. Facebook contact data will continue to appear within the Facebook app. Like all developers on Android, Facebook is free to use the Android contacts API to truly integrate contacts on the device, which would allow users to have more control over their data. We are removing the special-case handling of Facebook contacts on Nexus S and future lead devices. We continue to believe that reciprocity (the expectation that if information can be imported into a service it should be able to be exported) is an important step toward creating a world of true data liberation --and encourage other websites and app developers to allow users to export their contacts as well.

My bigger problem with the facebook app is that the menu button is not accessible in ICS. As a result, you can't change the defaults for how often the app refreshes (I like to disable auto refreshing).

[WORKING] Facebook Sync on Galaxy Nexus (Tested 4.0.3) Hi Res Pictures, updates, more!

NOTE: I am not the developer of this app, I have simply decided to create a thread about this on XDA.
NOTE 2: Using this app will get you all of your facebook contacts, regardless of whether you have a matching name in your contacts or not.
EDIT: Working fix (UNTESTED BY ME) found by droppedd and Ovalteenies:

NOTE 3: This app does not sync phone numbers, only hi res pics, RECENT updates (not all of them will have status updates) and allows you to view their wall from the contact app.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey everyone,
I stumbled upon an app called HaxSync which basically makes facebook sync for devices with Ice Cream Sandwich possible. I have tested this myself with this rom and this kernel. Not only does this app give you hi-res pictures from facebook, it also gives you recent status updates, and a quick link on each contact for viewing their facebook wall.
The app can be found here
Yes, it costs a dollar but trust me, in the end its worth having these hi-res pics on the amazing Galaxy Nexus screen
How to use the app:
1.) Install official Facebook App.
2.) Go to System Settings => Accounts & Sync (Android Settings, not Facebook App Settings).
3.) Click "Add Account" => HaxSync.
4.) Click "Authorize HaxSync".
5.) Confirm Authorization
6.) Wait for HaxSync to finish syncing.
7.) You should now see your Facebook contacts in the Android "People"-App.
NOTE: The one thing that doesn't work yet, is syncing the phone number of each contact but it can be added manually(scroll down to the second part).
Alternatively, you can add facebook pictures manually if you wish to do so, but it is fairly cumbersome, especially if you have many contacts
NOTE 2 : I am in no way affiliated with the creator of the app, I'm simply trying to help my fellow XDA members by providing them with the best experience possible.
ISSUES/PROBLEMS WITH APP
-Phone numbers don't sync
-Can't see current status of contact (e.g. available, away, busy, etc - probably not meant to be implemented in this app as of yet, so not really a defect.)
HOW TO SYNC FACEBOOK PICTURES WITH EXISTING APPS MANUALLY
1.) Open the facebook app
2.) Click the menu button located on the top right of the facebook app, and search for the appropriate contact.
3.) Find a picture of them
4.) Click menu, set as, and contact icon
5.) Navigate to the appropriate contact, or if necessary create a new one.
Thats it! Pretty simple, but with the app above, you get facebook status updates, hi res pics and a quick link in each contact to view their profile on facebook
HOW TO SYNC FACEBOOK NUMBERS WITH CONTACTS
1.) Open the facebook app
2.) Search for the appropriate contact
3.) Click send a text message
4.) Long press the number
5.) Copy it
6.) Open the people app
7.) Click create a contact
8.) Long press the space in the phone slot provided
9.) Paste the number
Im already using it since yesterday, and it works.
The thing is that i had to link the profiles it manually for around 90% of my contacts. Probably would have the same problem with the official, so it's ok.
Also, after the work doing all this merge work, I'd lost everything after update the app by market. Not cool.
Still, I reccomend it.
Anyone know how to restore which contacts are merged past a data wipe? This is by far the most time consuming part of flashing new roms for me.

If your existing contacts were synced with your gmail account you can select "contacts to display" in the people app and choose to show only your gmail contacts. The ones with a facebook account should automatically link to your gmail contact, otherwise you can manually link them.

In the People app: Overflow menu (the two dots) -> Contacts to display -> Customize -> HaxSync: Uncheck "All Contacts." You'll only see HaxSync contacts that exist in one of your other contact providers after that; just make sure you've manually joined any people the app couldn't autojoin beforehand (for example, if they had their name spelled differently on GMail and Facebook).

Facebook pictures for contacts?

I tried searching this forum as well as Google and cannot find the answer to this question.
How do I sync my Facebook contacts pictures with my contacts? I'm coming from an HTC EVO which was very simple to do. I can't figure it out on the S2 though. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!
App syncmypix. Free in the market.
From Facebook app go to settings scroll all the way down and sync contacts. Or set up your fb thru social hub and check off the option to sync contacts.

I had the same problem. HTC adds notes to each contact. Once your in your contacts list, hold each contact till the edit shows. Once in edit, see if their Facebook account shows. If it does, just delete your original pic and save. Facebook pix well take over. Hope this helps.
BTW, don't use social hub!

Tried syncing contacts with Facebook already. Doesn't bring the pictures. Sucks that we would need an external app for this...
For syncmypix, do I have to keep updating it whenever my contacts change their pictures?

What's wrong with social hub? Social hub does a better job at displaying the pictures. The FB app shows the pictures like if they were zoomed in. I like the way social hub displays them better than the FB app.

My FB app wasn't syncing either after I started restoring with titanium backup. It would always have the old pics while my media hub showed the updated pics. Then I just logged out of the app recently and logged back in. It syncs after that. So try logging out and see if that helps..

Mornin' Ray,
Gave it a shot and nope - photos still don't sync like they used to. One of the free apps on market did sync them, so I was assured it is still possible. Removed the app and it reverted to the placeholder images.
Seconded for Syncmypix. It is quick easy and you can schedule it.
To set the FB profile pic as the contact pic I had to go into each contact, hit menu and then mark as default. The first option is for what to use for the caller ID. Chose FB and saved. A lot more complex than my Evo 3D that just did it on it's own, but whatever this method worked. Before I did that it was showing each contact with the default pic saved in my Gmail contacts.

Hmm that's weird. I just checked mine and saw that one of my friends who recently updated her pic it still shows the old pic thru the FB app sync but its updated on the social hub sync. I guess that's why I'm not really having an issue this phone chooses the pics on social hub by default. I would say try a third party app if you don't feel like setting up social hub..

OK, so I tried manually syncing contacts, I tried logging out and logging back in, all with no results. I even tried uninstalling the app, then downloading it again. This did not fix any of the pictures, however now when I edit my contacts I can see that they are linked with them on facebook, this wasn't there before. There is also a phone and facebook tab on top when I edit them, so this must be some kind of progress. Under the facebook tab, there is an error that reads: "Unable to edit SNS contact on phone" what does this mean?
Lastly, I tried using syncmypix, but it only works for some contacts. For the others it says "contact is read only"
Anyone with any ideas?
Go to your setting from phone home screen...look for accounts and sync. From there look for facebook. tap on facebook and sync all contacts. That should work.

For all of those people whos picture does not show, when I click on edit contact and then go to the Facebook tab, there is an error that reads, "Unable to edit SNS contact on phone" Does anyone know what this error means, and how I can go about correcting it?

Once contacts are joined click on the contact hit menu and select mark as default. There should be a list right at the top with a circle to select for whatever account you want as default. Like i've been saying media hub by default when accounts are linked it makes your FB pics the default unless you have one saved under the contacts main contact profile. The FB app syncs the contacts but it won't make the pics default unless you manually choose it...
To be perfectly honest the FB app's syncing sucks really bad. Once it syncs for the first time it will never update again. And when some people put full body shots their heads are cut off. This is why I rely on media hub for my FB syncing needs..

Haxsync / Contacts -People help

Ok so I realize facebook won't sync with ICS so I get Haxsync that was recommended and its ok. However, I don't like this People app that ICS uses compared to the old simple Contacts. When I need to manually merge contacts I used to longpress and choose join contacts and now I cant . But I've seen posts where people say they manually join them, so there must be another way I'm not seeing. Menu options don't bring up merge or join either.
Thanks in advance for any help.

it is a bit annoying managing contacts in ics...i haven't figured how to automatically join contacts but I have been able to do it manually...for example...let's say your friend's name is "Michael B. Jordan" in facebook and simply "Michael Jordan" in your normal contacts...you have to change the name to "Michael B. Jordan" in contacts facebook and press "space" after the name change..you should see the "facebook name" be suggested right under the contact being edit..click it and it should say "join"..it is pretty annoying way to join contacts (maybe there is a better way, I don't know)...
it took almost an hour to properly sync my 70 contacts and their pictures with haxsync...sorry for the horrrible grammar and I hope it helped..

Just made an already tedious process even longer. Damn girls and their stupid fb names. That's the only crappy part of wiping during ROM changes for me. Apps, data, ringtones, wallpapers, etc are all easy but damn having to manually rejoin contacts. Now even worse that's it's not native in ICS.
I'm at the point now where I think I'm just going to manually assign pictures to my contacts. Maybe download them from facebook assign them thru my contacts in google. This way the pix will stick from now on. Anytime I flash a rom, I won't need to go thru this tedious process any longer. I've given up lol.

You know I think this would make sense, but I just tried an import and the only option is to import a single vCard file from bluetooth or email.
This used to work out nicely in the 2.x.x days. You sync your google contacts and then facebook contacts. Join a few that the names don't match (ie John Doe and John D). Now with ICS, it won't even try to join John Doe with John D. Doe or Johnathan Doe, even though they are the same person.
The other thing is that haxsync only does photos. I have friends that I don't have saved in my google contacts because their info is on their facebook. Guess I could go through them and manually save a duplicate contact and number to my google contacts, but that's something I didn't have to do in the past. Taking steps backward is not what integration is about.

Well I got friendcaster then used it to sync and it copied over with crappy low res pictures, so that pissed me off. The haxsync ones looked decent at least. I'll be fine for now until there is stock integration built into to CM9. I know the OTA ICS guys have figured it out.

Haxsync does have an option "Additional friends to sync" under "Sync Preferences" - the help text says "These friends will be synced even if they don't match any contacts on your phone". Does this do what you want?
I think he means their contact info from facebook. The main app syncs not only a contacts photo, but any contact info they have on their profile.

For those who have multiple accounts and want to join them in a few easy steps:
Log into you Gmail account and go under Contacts.
Right above your contacts list, right in the middle, there is a button you click and have some settings come down. One of them is a "join multiple contacts". Hit it and it will automatically join all of them together. A lot easier if u have LOTS of multiple contacts and dnt want to merge them manually

what is to be done??
In the options their is a setting which by default only syncs people already in your contacts. You can change it sync all your friends from facebook.
Also to some of the people earlier in this thread, the latest version of Haxsync lets you write HTC tags to the notes section of your contacts so at least you won't have to do it all again manually when you change roms
