N7100 vs N7105 HSDPA+ - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not sure if I misread something last time that HSDPA+ on N7100 is slower than that on the N7105 ? Is this true? I can't seem to find info on google...

I believe it's called DC-HSPA+ Here's evidence from my device:

And if you're from the UK, hardly anywhere has LTE signal yet. Ridiculously over-priced, capped data. Three(3)s DC-HSDPA+ network is incredible like the guy says above this post. I strongly recommend it. I regularly get 8Mbs which is faster than many home broadband connections....
Don't be sold by adverts - do your research and save yourself a lot of money

yeah I bought an N7105 from orange network... £499 it comes with a free decent headphone... then I unlocked it and now using 3UK with unlimited internet... the signal is all over the place though, and I used to get a maximum 6mbps... but after I upgraded to 4.1.2, the data download went up to as high as 12mbps but its sporadic... still observing everything for now
edit: I bought the LTE version for future proofing, as I intend to keep the phone for at least 3 years...... that is if I don't get "upgrade-itis" because I am a sufferer...

I also have the 7105 LTE. Without LTE activated, my speed earlier today was:
That was my fastest to date with any device (Dell Venue, several different Blackberries, Samsung Jack, and Galaxy S III).

Yes, it's true. The N7105 supports 42Mbps Dual Carrier HSPA+ (As well as LTE), whereas the N7100 only supports HSPA+ up to 21Mbps.

Im in Montreal but in not on videotron. .. But im impress with their hspa speed.

Wow that's pretty awesome
Way better than rogers/telus/bell
Can't wait till Mobilicity has these speeds, they run the same frequencies

I'm not allowed to post an image yet, but my fastest download speed was 6712 kbps and 3518 kbps upload.
This was tested with full signal bars in Montreal. The test was made using the UGKL1 baseband. I did a previous test with the XXKK6 baseband and results were quite the same.
I noticed you're using a different baseband. How is your reception overall? How about in the south shore? I get a very poor to none signal in the south shore and even inside basement in the Montréal area.
UGKK7 is doing well... give it a try... Maybe you should call Videotron to explain the poor reception in the south shore?

i flashed the new UGLA4. speed still the same.
whoa!
whoa! Impressive I'm on the fido network and the most I've ever gotten is 9Mbps but then a gain it makes perfect sense the more people on the network the lower the speeds. My data speed on fido is faster than on the bell network and videotron smokes both... but then again it has the least subscribers, my guess is, correct me if I'm wrong, the have their own antennas as well.

Straight Talk + GNex.. coverage?

Hey guys. I just got my GNex up and running and I had a question for those using ST. I am currently running on AT&T post paid.
First off, this picture sucks. It is way too small and hard to tell where coverage is... do you know where I can find a bigger map?? If not, I'll try to get in touch with ST support...

Second, should I be looking at "Android Coverage"? I assume I should since... ya know... it's an android, but it seems like they are calling "non-android" voice only and "android coverage" data + voice. Is this correct? If so, I probably will not be able to use ST because many states I travel in will not have data service (which means no google nav).
On the webpage, if you click on the "bring your own phone" program, you get yet another coverage map which appears to be the "non-android" map above...
Thanks for the help guys.. :good:
the android coverage is sprint coverage. straighttalk does sell android phones that run on sprint's network only.
you should look at the map on the left which uses att's coverage.

Ah, that clears that up. Thanks for that. I assume the coverage is HSPA+? I'm not expecting LTE (especially with my non-LTE GSM GNex..).
its whatever att has in the area you are in.

AT&T H931 gets fake 5G icon

New January update adds fake 5G icon to AT&T H931 V30 -- to fool customers into thinking they have a 5G phone. It's the HSPA "4G" scam all over again, which AT&T and T-Mobile perpetuated on their users.

Yeah, so you can brag about your fake "5G" to all your friends.
In other countries, 4G icon means 4G. And 4G means LTE. LTE is the only 4G currently available widespread (rest in peace Wi-Max). Only in the U.S. do people refer to HSPSA as "4G" -- which is due to marketing lies from AT&T and T-mobile because they had not deployed LTE nationwide yet like Verizon had done. HSPA+ is 3G on steroids, but is NOT 4G. Which forced Verizon to then call theirs "4G LTE". That's like saying I drive a "car automobile". It's redundant. 4G = LTE.
In other countries, carriers were not allowed to lie like that, and their 4G icons simply meant they had LTE... There was no need to say "LTE" -- it simply said "4G". Whereas, HSPA was indicated by "H" as it's not 4G! There was no confusion, because it was the truth.
Now, AT&T is trying the same thing all over again with 5G.

LTE Speed

Hello guys. I have the 64GB/4GB variant of this phone and I think there is an issue regarding the LTE Speed. GSMArena says that the phone supports LTE-A (2CA) Cat6 300/50 Mbps. My operator is Cosmote Greece which provides LTE-A (4G+) speeds but my phone seems to be getting only the "simple" 4G speeds, meaning up to 100/50 Mbps. I have verified it through the engineering mode of the phone (*#*#4636#*#*) where the results are in the screenshot below. Has anyone with our phone achived higher speeds than 100 Mbps? (In multiple speedtests, I never got over 50 Mbps while other phones get 120+ Mbps). Thanks!

Mine was rapid on oreo, i suspect speeds have been limited in pie, thats all i can think of why bandwidth not as fast.

Question 5G Network

I have the Google Pixel 6 Pro by Verizon and I have a 5G tower about 1.5 miles from my house. I get really good speeds or so I thought. When I run the speedtest app I get around 75mb of download and about 50 of upload. My neighbor using his Samsung S21 Ultra get at least double my speeds. Now we both have about 3 bars of cell service when we are at our houses, but when we go to where the tower is we have 5 bars of service. He gets 330mb of dl and about 70 upload. I get about 150 dl and 50 up. His speedtest app reads 5G Verizon Network and mine reads LTE Verizon Network. I went to Verizon and got a new sim card, I have rebooted the phone several times and reset the network in the settings but no luck.
I read an article here on this but I'm still confused why the S21 would show 5G Verizon where the GP6Pro shows LTE Verizon. I am attaching pics below. We are both standing at the same place using the same network. His reads 5G mine reads LTE... Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

Ensure that you are indeed on 5G and not LTE in settings
I finally got 5g and got 634mb download which was surprising and was indoors too and still get LTE on my Speedtest app also.
