[Q] Why Does my Korean N7100 think I'm roaming and not connect to mobile internet?

I bought my n7100 on taobao here in China, and it's a Korean version. I put my China Mobile sim card in, and it makes and receives calls, and text messages and can use wifi with no problem.
The only thing is the mobile data doesn't work. I rooted and tried tweakker, and HiNet, to reset my APN and MMS settings, but that didn't work. My phone still thinks I'm roaming.. it displays
this message "Data Roaming, You have lost data connectivity because you let your home network with data roaming turned off".
I've also tried updating the APN and MMS settings manualy with information i've found on the web.
I've googled and searched this forum and I can't find much. I thought it would be an easy APN settings fix but it seems not to be...
I took my phone in to the local China Mobile store they couldn't fix it. I took it to a local android expert here and they didn't know what to do.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
If you bought a Korean Note 2, you don't (shouldn't) have an N7100. I also purchased one through Taobao.
You should have an SHV-E250S, E250L, or E250K. Which one do you have? Check the baseband version under Settings > About device page.
No matter what, you're going to be limited to 2G only with China Mobile.
You're right, It's SHV-E250S, and I'm fine using the 2g in China on China mobile, but I'd just like to know how..any help?
Baseband Version is E-250SKSVLJK
Try removing all modifications to your APN settings.
Next, go into Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode and change it to GSM only. Also make sure that Data roaming is not selected. Run a new scan for network operators while you're in there to refresh your APN settings to the right ones.
In data network mode I only have 2 options "3g only" or "LTE Preferred" I have it on 3g only. I have now unchecked data roaming, but I don't see any place to scan for network operators. I have included a few screenshots here, sorry i don't know how to insert them.. http://tinypic.com/r/2198djn/6 http://tinypic.com/r/24dhfmx/6 http://tinypic.com/r/2zof98w/6
Now it's obvious why you don't have data. Is this the stock Korean ROM? Are you rooted?
I can point you to a decent ROM that will fix all of this, provided you have the patience to fix it. It's relatively easy.
Yes it seems to be the stock Korean ROM. I am rooted using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2 I'm more than willing to flash another rom. I've put about 20 hours into this so far, I imagine I can muster enough patience to finish it
Once they give us a damn Korean Note II section, this kind of information will be a lot easier to find.
Try this ROM for now, it's the one I've been using for a few weeks and I love it.

Thanks a lot the rom (715mb) is downloading now, I have tried to flash ROM's on my old galaxy nexus, and on this note II, but I never succeeded, can you please link me to a good guide, on how to flash this rom? thanks.
Odin is included in the download. If you're using Windows 7 you may or may not have the drivers for the phone, and can grab them out of the All-in-one Toolkit. Just installing the toolkit should install the drivers necessary.

The ROM you're downloading has two files and two pictures, as well. Open the pictures and follow along. All you have to do is click two buttons, select two files, then hit start. It WILL wipe your phone.
I installed that rom you suggested, I went into settings and did GSM only, and had it automatically find my network (china mobile) selected it, rebooted, and still it says i'm roaming so there is no connectivity... any more ideas?
Can you try somebody else's SIM?
There's no reason you should not be getting service unless something is not right with your SIM or phone.
I installed the rom you suggested, i went into settings and made it GSM only, also had it automatically correctly locate my network (china mobile) and it said "registered on network".. but it still isn't working, same problem, it says no connectivity cus i'm roaming.. any ideas now?
my gf will be home from work in a couple hours, I can try her sim card then.. my sim card was cut by me for my old iPhone.. is it possible or likely that the phone can still make and receive calls, but that somehow data connectivity was affected by me cutting the card? also one guy at the phone fixing store tried his sim card (from another company) and internet worked fine he said..

China mobile have various sim plans, from local to province to national. Are you using the sim in the same city in which you bought it? If not and you don't have a national plan, it could be why the phone is showing roaming. In China going from one province to another is already considered roaming unless you have a national plan. This is from my experience back 2 years ago. Also, you best check at a China mobile shop if you have data activated, gprs/edge is not activated by default, you need to ask them to do it.
I would advise you to switch to China unicom as they have 3g/hspa which is much faster than china mobile.

For clarfication, I am in Hainan, and the card is from hainan. I use the same sim card in my galaxy nexus without any problem. I tried my gf's card just now, it didn't say any problem with connectivity, and did not display roaming.. And it shows the G symbol (for 2 or 3 G I assume), and has up and down arrows next to it.. but it doesn't actually work for browsing the web or using apps over the data network.. I even reset all the APN settings and let it automatically find the China Mobile network, but it didn't help.. what if I try to set the APN settings manualy? and any other ideas??
Showing the G symbol is GPRS, which is 2G. You will not get 3G on the N7100, N7105, or Korean model Note 2 on China Mobile.
Sounds like you need a new SIM card. You can try to set the APN manually to make the data work with hers. I've never had to set an APN manually and I've used many phones here with all 3 carriers, so it's a bit odd to me. No clue why your card doesn't work, but since hers is working fine, it's definitely not your phone.
For the record, her card displayed G, but even after messing with settings, I couldn't get it to have working data network..
Today I bought a new card, and had it officially cut to size, put it in the note II and it's still telling me no data connectivity due to i'm roaming.. i'm so frustrated
edit: after restarting a few times and trying to automatically make it register on china mobile .. it worked on the 4th attempt.. it still displays data roaming, and I had to enable data roaming... but now it works, even though it says i'm roaming?? wtf
Ive the same problem with my Korean galaxy note 2 all voice service work perfect but when I tried to turn on data it says insert Usim Card to access network please help

[Q] Flash Phone No Data!

Hi, last night i flashed my sprint lg g2 stock/rooted phone to cricket using DFS, called up cricket and had them switch to the new flashed phone, and since i have not been able to get data 3g or even 1x on the phone.
I have flashed several phones and never encountered this problem, but this is my first LG phone, Rest were samsung and HTC
Texting and Calls work Great
It constantly lets me know "Mip 67" "Mip 111" and "Unable to Establish a wireless data connection" .
I have searched everywhere and although i can similar people with the problem, all are on sprint.
I have gone through DFS settings many times, reflashing, and nothing is seeming to work or stick
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated, an andorid phone without any internet might as well be a flip phone
Have you tried updating your profile while on WiFi?
A lot of ROMs for the g2 require this
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
update the data profile? i do click update when the mip error pops up, but it always fails..
ive done *228 multiple times, but doesnt get the 3g going
Are you connected to WiFi. I'm on sprint so I'm guessing. What band does cricket use?
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
yes, whether im connected to wifi or nothing it gives error.. this is normal with sprint optimized apps when on a flashed cricket phone though.. sprint connection optimizer wont work for all the right reasons... ok i made progress, got 3g, reflashed with simple ip only, no mobile ip. and i get 3g, but not consistant.. but its about progress not perfection! still open to help and advice to solidify this rocky connection
edit: anyone know how to edit the apn settings?? I go to settings and all, i can see yhe apn settings but cannot edit them... first time ever for me on that one

i wish it was that simple. He has a cricket sim card and somehow able to edit his apn settings.
on mine, its a sprint ls980, still has a sprint sim card in it..
update on whats ive notice over the day.. Itll randomly connect to '3g', but when you go to settings and status, its only really 1x.. mobile state is usually saying its 'connecting', once it does connect data drops out..
from what i believe, its still trying to connect to spring network for 3g, but will use cricket for 1x. might have something to do with the sim card, but i have popped it out to see what happens and it still as sketchy as before.

Yet another problem .... :/

So , A few weeks back there was a lightning storm . it shut off my phone service and home internet. Both came back on a few hours later .
Ever since then my phone hasnt been able to send MMS . I called Tmo and we went through my APN . Everything is correct . I can get on the internet with data but MMS fails.
I have no idea what to do .
Internet is confirmed working. Tmo apn is greyed out and doesnt let me edit anything.
Ok , Incoming MMS works.
Outgoing MMS fails and says Error:network error occured
Another phone same network confirmed working so the problem is with the Note 2 only and is outgoing MMS only . SMS works fine both ways .
Ok seems google play store fails too .
Internet , incoming MMS and every other app works fine
What was the last time you wiped your device?

what rom are you on
Well , I was wondering if it was a rom or wipe specific issue myself and I've been wanting to upgrade to 4.3 anyways so did all necessary steps to use 4.3.
Flashed Jedi X2 same problem .
Saw a touch whiz 4.4.2 rom on ATT forum that said it works with T-mobile just have to flash a modem . So I did .... same problem .
Just now I tried to send a MMS to myself and it went through . BUT , I had a H+ icon .
So then I started thinking . What if its a 4g network problem .
Ok so I just tried GSM only and on the E edge icon MMS works.
Then I tried WCDMA only and it goes from 3g to H+ and works
Then GSM/WCDMA auto connect which switches between both MMS works.
Then tried LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto connect and had a 4G icon and it failed and had the endless status circle
So the LTE 4g network is apparently the problem but I dont know why . I've entered official LTE Tmo apn from both online I found and directly from Tmo tech support so I know the APN is correct.
Did you ever mess with service mode or Sim unlock the device? There is an LTE frequency menu that I was never brave enough to fool with

No sir , before that thunderstorm I never had any problems . Service tech said when I'd originally called about the problem there was a service ticket open in my area with several people in my neighborhood not able to send out MMS as well. After several more calls the ticket had been closed as engineers had fixed whatever was going on ( so they say ) .
In that menu is there any kind of reset for the LTE network modules or any similar anything. Id def be willing to go in that hidden menu and have a gander.
ok some people get the MMS I send after the message is confirmed sent on my end and some dont .
Ok ...... POSSIBLE problem identified .
I've been reading Tmo US LTE uses IPV6 supposedly confirmed by Tmo tech support ( I guess false considering ipv4 is selected APN protocol and greyd on a stock official note 3 and not able to be edited ?? )
back to square one . A unrooted stock official note 3 has the same apn setting ipv4 and is also greyed out and mms works over data. :/ sum ***** .
Well I guess not square one... I have atleast isolated the problem to the 4g/LTE network being the only network not able to send MMS
On EZkat 4.4.2 ATT TW rom with Tmo modem . Although this problem has occured through 4.1.2 ( Jedi X20 ) , 4.3 ( Sammobile stock official ) 4.3 ( Jedi X2 ) and 4.4.2 ( ATT EZkat )which led me to think it made be a device hardware problem but the hardware responsible for outgoing MMS are responsible for incoming ( which again works on 4g/LTE ) ... ??
tmo apn is correct , incoming MMS work on 4g/lte and all other. , outgoing MMS only work on wcdma and gsm .
Internet works on any network . And also google play store doesnt work on 4g/LTE but works also on gsm or wcdma
Very strange and bizarre problem .
I had the same problem with MMS a while ago and what worked for me was turning off wifi calling. Somehow wifi calling was interfering with MMS. Once I turned off wifi calling, magically all the MMSs started coming in and sending out.

No internet while on a phone call

I have an unlocked at&t note 4 being used with t-mobile. Recently the internet connection drops as soon as a call comes in and comes right back when done. i checked with t-mobile and they say on their end their service supports talk and surf at the same time.
Is there an update or setting that got switched on? running stock 5.1.1

Galaxy Nexus, Android 7.1.2 and internet access on AT&T

I recently lost internet access on my Galaxy Nexus running Android 7.1.2 (Lineage 14), possibly in connection with removing an international dialing cost plan on my AT&T account using their website on a desktop computer. Since then the previous APN setting wap.cingular no longer works. I have spoken with AT&T support three times without getting this resolved. Today we tried the APN nxtgenphone, phone and wap.cingular, none worked. Wifi works fine and I have not done any update of the system software.
Is anyone using their GN phone on the AT&T network, if so, what are your APN settings?
