which one would you recommend? any other case that are good?

Really depends on the level of protection you need. I've used just phone skins for looks, to bumpers, to silicone cases, to otterboxes. Depends on what you need and want to look at.

Third one looks great but I prefer case that cover screen too. Just to be safe side. On my first s3 I got hairline crack without even knowing what and where happened.

YOu might check out amazon. I paid like $19 for an otterbox defender which comes with a screen cover built in and has superb protection

I'm with Pennycake on this. It depends on your level of protection. Me personally, I care more for heavy protection, so I got a Trident Kraken case. At $28.99 plus free shipping on Ebay, it was a great buy.

Yes, as others have said it depends on your usage / preference / risk factor. I'm perfectly happy with my Otterbox Commuter other than it being a little slick. If you don't want the bulk of a hybrid (jelly & hard) case, then I'd probably go with a jelly case over the hard case for the shock protection vs. scratch protection with the hard case.
Of those you suggested, I'd pick the third one because its a "hybrid" and does wrap the edge corners which is pretty important pro wise. That, and it just looks cool

I'm using the UAG case right now (the third link). I think it's a pretty nice case, it doesn't add too much bulk like the otterbox and it gives decent protection. I dropped my phone a couple times with the case on and there are no damages on the phone or the case. Pretty good case in my opinion.

Im looking for a thin case with no design or pattern. Just white or black color
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

I use the ballistic maxx case I think this is the best case out....it's not bulky like the defender case it's slim and also comes with a holster like the otterbox does it has raised edges that when the phone is dropped it flips the phone in a way it's hard to crack the screen and also comes with a screen protector not the film kind amazon has em for around $15

I'm using SGP neo hybrid case and it feels good and looks good also...

What case do fellow Captivated people recommend?

I am looking for a new case for my captivate and seem to be at a stand still. I had the Incipio Edge clear case cause when I got my phone that's all they had at AT&T. I also didn't know the case comes directly from hell! Seriously, don't get this case no matter what. Your phone is better off naked then with the Edge. Anyway, I am wanting something that isn't to expensive, cool looking, and that will protect the phone well. I have looked at the Amzer Silicone color cases but was wondering if anyone had and liked it. Also have looked at Body Glove, but still unsure of what to get. Please whatever case you have drop a response and tell me what it is and if you like it. I would appreciate all the help I can get finding the right case that I know other people have and like. Thanks fellow Captivated Android fans!

I have the Body Glove Silicone case. I like it because it adds nice protection without much extra heft.

+1 It's a very nice case. Doesn't grip my pocket lining like most silicone cases. I usually prefer my phone naked, but after destroying my iphone 3g I figured I'd better be safer lol.
yes Body Glove FTW!!!
btw check the thread 'other source of Body Glove case' for cheaper deal than att.
I'm personally using the Amzer Jelly Case (which actually feels fairly solid) http://www.amzer.com/Amzer-Silicone-Skin-Jelly-Case-Black-P88806.htm
available in a ton of colors and I like the elongated-X shape on the back. I'm not sure how it is with the other colors, but the white one shows it as being very opaque when it is partially translucent (I can still read the Galaxy S on the back)
haha yea trust me DO NOT get the stock cases that are 19.99...i hate it lol
I'm using the amzer crystal snap on case its great and for the price it's worth. Great look and feel with out adding much to the phone.

Bodyglove
I just got the Body Glove Mirage case also. I originally bought the OEM Carbon Fiber case directly from Samsung but returned it because it wouldn't snap closed completely. I liked the material because it felt sturdy with a nice grip but was concerned about the noticeable gap from the 2 pieces not closing properly.
The Body Glove is the best one I've seen so far although I'm not that fond of the design on the back. But it protects my phone so it's good until I find something else.
SeidioOnline has the Innocase II Surface that's "Coming Soon" which looks pretty decent. It actually looks similar to the Samsung Carbon Fiber but instead of 2 front and back pieces snapping together, it looks like a top and bottom piece kind of slides onto the phone.
Another one for Body Glove. Nice looking case and it does its job with not alot of bulk. I am looking forward to the Otterbox cases but its doubtful anything will impress me. Just too bulky but I like the protection they offer so we shall see
I am very happy with the zagg invisishield. I like that you really can't see it.
So far I have the Zagg Shield and the Body Glove Skin. But I think I'm going to get the new Body glove snap on case with the kickstand built into the clip. I find myself watching video more and more so the kickstand will come in handy.
And yeah I also made the mistake of getting the Incipio Edge case. That thing was awful. It took me 20 MINUTES to get the case off of the phone. I promptly returned it.
I currently have 3 cases. A clear plastic one from amazon. (pretty cheap and hard to get off, but a decent case for 3.99) then a clear smoke grey silicon jelly case from mr. hit (good case, add grip and looks nice too while adding protection for only 5.99!.) And the amzer luxe argyle tpu case. Which is a really nice case! A bit more pricey but worth every penny (14.99) I think. And I am a freak about protection, so underneath it all I have phantomskinz chromatic white carbon fiber stick on skin (for the days I don't wasn't to have a case on. And a plus is it looks really cool underneath the amzer luxe argyle case (and the clear smoke grey silicon one as well.)
I walked into an at&t store and a lady that worked there was amazed at my phone and showed it off to all of her co-workers.
All in all its really up to you and your taste. But IMO AMZER for the win. (or body glove tpu, as they are both tpu)!

argyle
i have the amzer argyle case (the whitish clear one) bought it from amazon and is like 2$ cheaper than the ones sold from main amzer.com. its great, the galaxy s on the back is very visible and offers protection just as good as the rubber body glove from att. way cheaper too.
I just got the body glove snap on case, with the belt clip. dosnt add alot of bulk to the phone, gives it a nice grip. good fit, all buttons and plugs easy to get to. also, found it on ebay for 17 bucks.
Body Glove Mirage case FTW!

Body Glove - real world test
Luckily, I bought the Body Glove (Mirage) last week because I dropped my phone today from about 4 or 5 feet high and it landed on asphalt. It simply bounced once and stopped. No screen scratches and not even a nick (sp?) on the case. Good stuff!
Thanks to everyone for their recommendations. I ended up going with the Amzer Jelly case in green. Awesome case that really protects my phone. Highly recommend it!

I definitely recommend the Body Glove Mirage as well. I have had the saladin captivate for only a short time but the moment I put this case on my phone felt thee times more secure in my hand. The back of the mirage case is like no other rubberized case I have ever used. It has a wonderful texture that gives the back of the phone a lot more grip. I highly recommend this case to anyone, get one while they're in stock. Almost every store that carries it in my area has been out of stock.

[Q] Best thin case for Captivate

What is the best thinnest case for the samsung captivate!
Don't know what your parameter for "thin" is but I found the TPU cases from ebay to be the best. I had tried a BodyGlove case and a generic silicone case but found them too thick (the silicone case looked ugly too IMO - dull & attracted too much lint). The TPU case I got from ebay has been great - glossy yet grippy. Adds about a mm top & bottom.
I have tried three different cases and found that thr "Body Glove" seems to be the one I end up using the most. It is very thin, tight fitting and feels good while holding the phone. There are really several good choices around. This is of course IMHO.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
i use the bodyglove case with the diagonal lines on the back. my brother uses the sedio one that snaps in 2 and has the smooth body. the body glove is a little thinner and looks more stylish. both are around 15-20 dollars. i prefer the body glove one because of the back actually, just adds a little touch to an otherwise plain looking phone. both are nice because they dont pick up dust and lint like the cheapo 2 dollar ones. you can tell quality by the seams of the rubber and smell. you get what you pay for. if your phone is worth 400, why spend 2 dollars on a case right?

How much protection are you wanting exactly?
Just picked up the Body Glove yesterday. Really like it, doesn't collect dust and very thin. Good fit also.

Cheap, looks good (can't really see the pattern except at a certain angle), protects great, and is the thinnest protective case I've seen.
Check these out. They are not as sticky as regular silicone skins and they are fairly thin + cheap.

Body Glove is pretty darn thin. I have one but I replaced it with the Otterbox Commuter, just to change things up. Commuter is a bit thicker but I don't mind it at all so I am sticking with it. I do recommend the Body Glove though. Good sleeve.
Plus one for body glove.
Its perfect. Smooth enough that it comes out of pocket easy, but grippy enuff that I can throw it on dashboard without it flying off with the first turn I make.
I also think it looks great, fits perfectly, and I can hold the phone without dropping it-which is the reason I wanted it in the first place
are you looking for a hard case or skin? body glove or a tpu skin is your best bet for the thinnest protection but if you want a hard case then check out Seidio innocase surface
I just got a Xmatrix case (I think its a knock off as its not rubberized anywhere) but the fit is great and gives you a near naked feel. Covers the back and adds a bit to the front edge so the screen does not touch a flat surface if you lay it face down.

Looks just like a TPU case which if you don't mind having a not as fancy case you can get the Amzer one on amazon for $5 shipped and the knockoff ones on ebay for about $3-4 shipped. But the case you linked to is one very nice looking case.

+1
That Amzer case does it's job very well. It protects, looks good, thin and is subtle in a good way. The fact that it is now ~$6.00 makes it an absolute steal. I usually don't buy cheap stuff for my phone (or for anything for that matter) but this case performs like a $20 case.
Only issue I have with it is that mine seem to be less snug than it was when I first got it. I only take off my case when I have to do a battery pull so it's a bit surprising that it got loose so easily. I recently bought a Otterbox Commuter to replace this case because I was getting bored with it but I wouldn't say I changed because it was necessary; it was just cause I was bored and I found a good deal for it.
+1 for the xmatrix case. It's a hard case but very slim and is a good fit without any movement or shuffling. Plus, there is a minor lip on the front so you can rest it face down.
It snaps on in the back...just one piece.
Body glove for sure best slim streamline case

My Case Collection

So I'm that type of person who has a case for every day of the week. Lol
I have here in order from left to right on the picture
Case logic pouch (For Android/Windows Phones is what it said on the packaging)
Otterbox Defender
Otterbox Commuter
Generic Black TPU Case from ebay
Generic blue hard snap on case.
The leather pouch is awesome! It fits the phone naked or with any of my cases with the exception of the otterbox defender. I had a Seidio spring loaded holster for use with the Captivate+Innocase and it had a very snug fit for the Atrix+any of the other cases aside from the Defender.
The defender is actually really nice on this phone! I had it on the Captivate and it was wayyy to bulky and it made it extremely frustrating whenever you tried to touch the capacitive buttons on the bottom. With the Atrix, it doesn't add too much bulk and I can feel safe whenever I have it on my phone. I usually use this one when I know I'm going somewhere where they'll be potential damage to my phone like the beach.
The commuter is my personal favorite case! It looks real nice with the fancy design on the back. It doesn't add too much bulk, but does add a good ammount of protection. I find it strange that all the Captivate otterbox cases make the phone twice as big, but that's not the same case for the Atrix. It's even stranger that a naked Atrix is bulkier than a naked Captivate.
The generic black TPU is also pretty nice. It doesn't add much bulk at all, but TPU usually offers good protection. Mine specifically has that stupid common Argyle pattern, but it's in the inside so it's not shown on the back of my phone! The only problem I have with this case is the fact that it attracts fingerprints like no tomorrow.
The generic blue snap on case was an impulse buy when I got my phone. I just wanted to make sure it was protected out of the box. I don't really like this case too much as I'm not a big fan of hard cases to begin with.
I'm still waiting on the Candyshell, and other cases to come out. I'll update asap!
If anyone has any detailed questions about any of the cases, let me know!!!

You are not alone I couldn't decide btwn the defender or commuter so I got both to test out in person. I ended up liking.g the commuter mainly BC I had trouble plugging in some headphone jack devices because the defender is slightly bulkier

I just ordered the black tpu with the argyle pattern on the inside off Amazon. I have a question for you, the buttons for volume look molded in, how hard is it to push the buttons with the case on?
How much bulk does the commuter add? I'm thinking of picking it up but I don't want it to be fat
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I didn't find it harder to press at all with the tpu case. Then again that might just be me not paying full attention to it. I'm not very picky... lol
The commuter does add a bit of bulk, but I don't think its bad at all especially for the ammount of protection it adds. I do also really dig the design on the back! I heard that it won't fit with any docks though to give you an idea. I was able to dock my phone with the TPU case though.

That was my biggest concern because I didnt really want a case but didn't want a broken phone. So I got the commuter and love that it doesn't make it that much bigger but makes it feel a ton safer.

I just got the TPU case... dropped it from my lap getting out of the car in a parking garage.. unscathed. great case.. doesnt look as fancy as others but it does the job and its a pretty good price.
yeah, i bought a few of those snap on hard cases just for the sake of protection, however, they are a ***** to get off! And i use my vehicle dock often, so thats a no go. I bought a clear skin (like a zaag), and havent looked back since. It actually makes the back of the phone shinny and the CF weave pattern really POP...looks more like real CF
After checked a cpl of cases for my new Atrix, I found one in HK and its dirt cheap too ($6!!). Dual material PC + TPU with transparent back, flame, scratch resistant, very light and thin, washable too. The fact I disliked about otterbox and similar heavy armed cases (aside of being very bulky) is a lack of heat dissipation.
My suggestion goes for Momax iCasePro:

Top notch.

never really saw the need for a case it makes a good phone look ugly and doesnt really protect i prefer invisible shields
Until it slips out of your hands and hits the ground and ends up looking worse than with a case..... I like the look of the commuter otter box case

Question for anyone that does not mind answering. I currently have the otterbox defender which I have to say I enjoy having it while I am out running around etc. Like that feeling of safety with the "hefty" case since I have large hands does not bother me to much. BUT, I was thinking of getting another case to use just around the house and thinking about the feather case or something small and minimal. I tend to set my phone face down most of the time. Any suggestions? also to expound upon that if anyone else has tried or done this before if I did that i would look into getting a adhesive screen protector. If I did that would it work with the otterbox defender and its built in screen protector would I maybe have to cut that out? Which I am not totally opposed to just seems almost like a waste. I know gorilla glass is tough stuff I am just the meticulous kind of person that if i saw the scratch on my screen I would not be able to let it go and it would drive me crazy.
Ryan,
I would suggest either the otterbox commuter (still kinda bulky, but not as bad as the defender), or the body glove mirage (nice and thin).
As far as the screen protector, I've used the matte/anti glare from att with the defender. I do kinda notice its not as responsive when I'm typing and etc, but thar might just be a mental thing.

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

Mind posting some pics of this? Thanks!
I don't know if they have one for nexus but case-mate barely there series of cases are cool because they are the thinnest but are still shatter proof. I have never liked adding bulk to my phone with a case so it works for me.

They may be shatter proof, but they only protect the better cover and rear sides of the phone. It's a half-solution at best. Waiting on Rearth and will report back.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.

I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ga...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

Went with a casemate pop over my usual Otterbox commuter choice. And am completely satisfied with its impact protection. Adds bulk but most do. Also grabbed a few TPU's off ebay for some variety. Coupled with some Carbon Fiber Ghost Armor. Im loving my (GSM) SGN

Torn between a few cases. Can you help me decide?

Hey guys,
I am looking into buying a case now, and after looking through some threads here, I think I will pick one of these three:
Diztronic TPU case: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Flexible-Protector-International-Packaging/dp/B0089F49P0/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO
Ringke Slim Lite: http://www.rearthusa.com/galaxy_s3_slim_lite_kit
Incipio Silicrylic: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-302-Silicrylic-Silicone-Samsung/dp/B0085VAP38/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1342098764&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+incipio
The most important thing for a case to me is drop protection, followed by thinness.
I have heard good things about all these cases, so I feel that I can't go wrong, but I'm having a hard time choosing.
Also, if you know of any other cases that you really like and offer good drop protection.. let me know
Edit: Looks like I'll go with the Incipio.. Thanks for the replies

If drop protection is top on you list then take the Rearth off the list. TPU is quite hard when compared to silicone, in a drop test the Silicrylic case will not doubt be much better.

+1 I currently use the Ringke but only because it's thin and provides enough protection to prevent scratches while still preserving the beauty of the device. I also have the Diztronic tpu and it should provide enough protection for low drops.

My silicrylic and my gs3 both showed up yesterday.
The case is very nice and definitely offers drop protection. The silicone doesn't seem to attract dust and lint like I thought it would.
I used to have a seidio active on my evo 3d which is the same type of case, so I thought I knew what to expect. I have to say though the incipio case is much nicer than the seidio case was. It is very sleek for what it is and the silicone isn't at all tacky like the seidio case was. It is very smooth and slides in and out of a pocket very nicely.
The all black looks nice on my blue gs3 too which is great.
I basically bought this case for times I may want a little extra protection, but I am so happy with it I think I will use it as my primary case. Fyi I ordered from Amazon and it only cost me $17 shipped.
I'm liking that incipio
I have this casemate one because it was all I could find the second day I had the phone. They come in all black now
Definitely buy the Incipio Silicrylic.
I have actually bought all 3 types of cases for my S3 that you listed in your OP, so my opinion matters more than these other guys! j/k -- 1) TPU (Cruzerlite ($10); similar to Diztronic and $1 versions on ebay); 2) Hard polycarb shell (Rock Quicksand ($10); similar to rinke); 3) Hybrid (Incipio ($18)).
After trying all the cases on, I can only recommend the Incipio if you care anything at all about protecting your phone, while looking good, and without adding as much bulk as an otterbox. The Incipio's Silicone sides and the hard case itself is also grippier than the others, and doesn't attract lint at all like my $0.99 silicone lint magnet on my old Captivate.
(Throw the screen protector that comes with the Incipio away, though. Crap quality)
I have the incipio and like it a lot...tried a letterbox commuter but took it back because I liked the incipio that much better...

Another vote for incipio :good:
I dunno, if thinness is number 2 you should stay far away from the incipio. It is definitely a fatty.
I say just suck it up and get the ringke or diztronic and just be more careful.
Look no further!!!
Seriously... you should +1 this ish.

The Incipio is an excellent choice. I bought all three and find the Incipio to be far superior, mostly due to protection capabilities.

I love my Incipio Silicrylic White/Gray case, but I just ordered an Otterbox Defender for the times when I feel I need a little added protection.
The only thing I don't like about the Incipio Silicrylic is that it doesn't have quite as much grip on the hard shell as I expected it to. Otherwise, it looks great, seems to protect well (though I haven't dropped it yet, and don't plan to), and doesn't gather lint.
If I wasn't so afraid of the phone slipping out of my pocket, like my iPod does all the time, I wouldn't even use a case.
But, a good case is a lot cheaper than total protection insurance. It costs more over the course of 2 years with deductible than I originally paid for the phone with contract. An an Otterbox Defender only costs $30-$50.
My vote is for the incipio
If you don't mind the extra bulk and want the peace of mind stick with the defender. The bulk is not bad, and it makes the phone feel like it's made of more premium material, I own it and it's great!

Get the Incipio. The Otterbox and Trident cases can withstand more torture but let's be honest here. Going with one of them turns a beautiful phone into one ugly ass crack whore.
