I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the Nexus 10! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs. A MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!
MCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:
Based on the 4.2.2 / JDQ39 release, updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.
For this MCR we've used the latest available shipping ROM, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

De-odexed... re-odexable.
Our ROMs are de-odedex, giving you the ability to flash other mods over the top, tweak the system and generally get the system set up as you want it without worrying about odex issues. We also include the 'OdexMe' application, which lets you odex your system when you're ready, saving valuable space on your data partition.

Pre-rooted
All MCR ROMs are pre-rooted with SuperSU preinstalled. In addition, the kitchen allows you to choose between secure, insecure and secure with patched ADB boot images.

Enhanced Quick Settings
The quick settings in Android 4.2 are cool, but limited. MCR builds include a customised version of the excellent 'Quick Settings' mod by kevdlui, allowing you to customise your toggles by holding the Settings button down. The WiFi and Bluetooth buttons are also changed to toggles - long press to access the settings menus.

The enhanced power menu (the one that appears when you hold down the power button) has additional options to allow you to reboot and reboot to recovery.

Apps aren't disabled on boot
Jelly Bean added a feature to disable apps on boot that aren't intended for your region (Wallet, Ears, Magazines etc.). I think we're smart enough to make that decision ourselves right? So that doesn't happen in a MCR.

Legacy Play Store
Isn't it frustrating how Google removed the ability in the Play Store to see which apps you'd bought in a nice simple list? I thought so... so I created 'Legacy Play Store', which has this feature.

Legacy browser and Flash
Google might be ditching the stock browser for Chrome and Adobe might have canned Flash, but we still need to use it sometimes... so it's included in a MCR.

Alternative UI options (clickable when hidden menu keys with alternate locations, search button)
A number of different UI options are included - the default option makes the legacy menu button available on both sides of the screen for easy reach and also keeps them active when invisible, handy if there's a pesky menu button at the top right that you can't quite get too! You can also bring back the good old search button. In stock Android the navigation bar always stays at the bottom - in the kitchen you can choose to have this move to the right. Finally, percentage battery meters are also included in stock style and round style.

Brilliant exactly what I needed, I couldn't install a custom ROM without losing the 2 additional users I had set up. This ROM maintained then as I didn't have to Factory Reset. So far, so good.

No GPS Lock
I'm unable to get a GPS lock in either "GPS Test" or Google Maps. Installed the ROM after a full wipe and restored those two program's with TiBU, Apps Only. I cleared Data and Cache from both apps as well, but no dice.

[ROM] [4.3.1] [11/10/2013] AOSP JLS36I KALO Galaxy Nexus GSM/HSPA+

Hello people!
This is a clean ROM for Galaxy Nexus built from the AOSP source code.
Why this is a different AOSP-based ROM
The main goal is to reach a perfect configuration maintaining the stock interface and the stock kernel without compromising the stability of the pure Google AOSP ROM.
For this reason I deleted a lot of files which I repute not necessary for a smartphone like the Galaxy Nexus.
Less apps are loaded by Android system, more battery is available for you!
This is the main/daily ROM for my smartphone and its purpose is to be stable and to not drain battery.
I recommend to use the stock kernel for this reason and to maintain the same configuration.
If you want a more customized ROM, please look for CyanogenMod or AOKP based ROMs, they are the best and safe way to obtain the best usage from the Android System.
But if you agreed with me, if you want to really use a smartphone for working purpose, if you want to use the Galaxy Nexus to call people and if you don't need to "amaze" your Apple-funboys with Live Wallpapers, Swipe gestures on keyboard, Photosphere and other stuffs (please let me kid a little), then you are welcome to my work.
Features
- Compiled against Android 4.3.1 AOSP branch android-4.3.1_r1 (JLS36I);
- Fully disabled bugreports in kernel and ramdisk;
- Persistent root with su binary;
- Added the rotation toggle in Quick Settings;
- Disabled the Select Input Method notification when the keyboard is on;
- Minimal set of Google Apps;
- Flash Player support;
- Enabled Location Provider support;
- Blocked ads with custom hosts file;
- Busybox;
- init.d folder;
- Compiled with new binary files;
- Optimized audio quality;
- Added compatibility for TouchControl PGM (slide to unlock gesture);
- Added the Clear All button on recent apps;

Will it stay that way? I would love to have a pure ROM to run which is kept up to date with AOSP. Most of the OTA apps, etc aren't available in my country, so this makes more sense to me.
It is rooted though, right?

Yes, the compilation of AOSP source code has been inizialized with the "full maguro userdebug", that is to say that the ROM is rooted.

At the moment my Galaxy Nexus is in warranty for repair.
When I will get it, I'll try to help you.
Since I cannot test/install my build, is someone so gentle to express a feedback?
Is the ROM working fine? Any issue at the moment?
Please write here your feedback.
Thank you always for collaboration.

I keep getting FCs with Skype and Gtalk, but those are the only issues I can find. SuperSU binaries update fine for me.
Flash ROM, the gapps, then SuperSU zip, reboot, update binaries and install busybox for good measure and it should work fine.

Thank You for your post!
The AOSP code is the stock one of the repo, the ROM is original, not modded.
I hope to solve the FCs as soon as possible.

No worries at all man, other than that it's certainly super fast, but I use both of those regularly, so can't run it until they're fixed, but once they are I'll definitely give it another go. (I did clear their data, etc)
Love the idea of just clean AOSP.

Do you think that is a problem of Skype and Google Talk or a ROM issue?
NEWS: I'm uploading a new release, stay tuned!
I can only assume it's a ROM issue, bizarre as it seems because they work fine on everything else I've run.
When I have a chance I'll restore the backup I made and grab some logs/dmesgs and we can try figure it out.

Welcome to SentinelROM for Nexus 10. Based on CM10.2. Android 4.3
This ROM is based on CyanogenMod 10.2 with all the features you get in a CM10.2 ROM, plus the following features.
Compiled with Linaro toolchain for enhanced performance.
Aroma Installer for additional tweaks and options
Zip Aligned
Compiled from latest CyanogenMod 10.2 source
Improved Web Browsing performance
Improved 3D gaming performance
Improved battery life
Additional theming and UI customisation
FAST support via this page and our Facebook Page
________________________
This ROM has been built to enhance the CyanogenMod 10.2 experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!).
Countless hours have been spent making tweaks to settings to squeeze the most performance I can find out of this ROM while still providing excellent battery life and without the dangers of overclocking and kernel level tweaking.
I compile this ROM and Kernel from the latest CyanogenMod source code, add my various tweaks and adjustments, then test for stability, so you get all the benefits of CyanogenMod 10.2, plus my tweaks and extras, all without the instability and inconvenience of flashing CyanogenMod nightlies (which are not designed specifically for the Nexus 10 like my ROM is.
The kernel source is available from the CyanogenMod's GitHub.

None that I am aware of. Please report any issues in this thread or on the Facebook page.
Note: On CM10.1 ROMs, to access the internal SD card on your device via USB on your PC, please go to "Settings" - "About Tablet" and tap on "Build Number" repeatedly to unlock "Developer Options". Now go to "Developer Options" and enable "Android Debugging".
________________________
If installing for the first time:
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM). If you haven't yet unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom recovery, I recommend downloading and installing the Nexus 10 Toolkit.
Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
Boot into your custom recovery
Back up your stock ROM
Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe System Partition
Install the ROM
Install GAPPS
Reboot. First boot can take up to 5 minutes.
Important: CyanogenMod statics is switched off by default in this ROM. After installation you will be asked if you want to turn it on, please leave it off.
Note: Use of titanium backup to restore apps and data from another ROM is not recommended, and is the source of 90% of user issues, especially when it comes to battery life. Do so at your own risk.
You may flash other kernels as you wish via recovery. Remember to also flash the correct libraries for any 3rd party kernels.Instructions will be given by the Kernel author. NOTE: Updating the ROM via OTA will also overwrite any custom Kernels you have installed.
________________________
Thanks very much to all those who have answered my questions through the process of creating my own ROM, you know who you are.
CyanogenMod for their outstanding work. Full credit to them for the bulk of this ROM.
The Linaro team for their amazing toolchain.

For extreme performance, give KTManta Kernel by ktoonsez a go. It improves gaming performance significantly, but your device will get quite hot.

Is there a tabletUI option for this release?
I looked at Tablet UI as an option, but the consensus is that it's depreciated and support will become less and less over time, so I decided to leave it out with this ROM.
Re: [ROM] [28/01/13] - SentinelROM v3.00 - CM10.1 Base - Fast, Stable, Themed
What does he mean by that is he talking about the action bar or the menu button that appears on the right?
Anyhow I had an idea that maybe I could work on some modifications that I would like on this ROM without having to ask you for it, but I am very new at it and all of the guides I have found are either out of date or are poorly written so I didn't understand how to do it. Do you think you could direct me in the right direction to get started? I would really appreciate it, thank you very much.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
Yeah he means moving the navigation bar at the bottom so that the Back, Home and Running buttons are off to the left hand side.
I figured out how to move them and it works perfectly in SentinelROM AOSP, but it seems that CM10.1 is using some weird scaling in the systemUI to fit the large screen of the N10. Even when I modify the XML to adjust the alignment to the far left, it sits about 3 quarters of the way across. From what I can tell, as far as the systemUI knows, this is the edge of the screen and the rest of the area is deadzone. I'll spend some more time later in the week working on it.
Anyone else is always welcome to make mods and tweaks (anything that works with this ROM should also work with other CM10 based ROMS). I welcome and encourage it in the spirit of open source! Hey this whole ROM is pretty much a CyanogenMod Kang.
You just need to package them up as flash-able zips that can be flashed via recovery. If I like them, I'll include them in future builds with your permission
To make mods you will need 7-ZIP, Notepad++ and APKTool. You just need to extract the APK you want to edit using APKTool, then make your modifications using Notepad++, then compile using APKTool and merge your modded resources with the original APK in 7-Zip. Then you just need to push the modified APK to your device (I use Android Commander for that). Compiling into a flash-able zip is a little more tricky but there are plenty of guides around.

Why is the size so different?

Re: [ROM] [28/01/13] - SentinelROM v3.00 - CM10.1 Base - Fast, Stable, Themed
Thanks for the nice little simple guide at the hell of a lot easier to understand than all the other ones I found. If I have any problems with making it it flash able, even with looking at the different guides out there. I know I can come to you, thank you. My goal is to incorporate be modifications that allow me to modify the bottom bar, the Quick Settings bar with the message settings app, the notification LEDs, and to be able to make my ROM updatable over the air. I bet this will be a very difficult thing to achieve but nothing easy is worth doing.

Hi mate,
EQS is completely configurable from Settings - System - Quick Settings Panel
I'm not sure why the GAPPS package is smaller, but it's the one CyanogenMod recommend with any CyanogenMod based ROMs and I haven't had any problems. with it.

I'm working on this. Again this seems to be a "feature" of CyanogenMod at the moment and has to do with how the screen is scaled on the N10 to fit the larger screen. You'll notice that the icons remain the exact same width when you rotate to portrait. I believe there is some missing code somewhere in the launcher and systemUI which stretches to fit the screen.

Any lag on the home screen and menus when using Nova? I always found it to lag my other devices, but haven't used it much on the N10.

All the code for the bottom bar is in SystemUI.APK, it also ties in with code in Settings.APK which allows you to configure it's buttons.
As for OTA, I don't think you'll be able to do that because you need a server which you can poll and check updates against. At the moment most of the original CyanogenMod code is still there, I've just deleted references in the layout.xml for settings.apk so they do not show up in the menus. I'll have a look at some stage to see if I can modify the code to simply point to my own server, but I doubt it will be that straight forward.
I got an invite yesterday to list my ROM on RomManager, so I'll look into that as an option for now. I don't rank it high on the list of things to do though as it does not affect ROM functionality at all. I'd rather work on improving other things

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the Galaxy Nexus! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
About MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROMs
MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROMs are based on CyanogenMod nightly ROMs. While a MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience and the aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device, a MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROM blends the great tweaks and features of CyanogenMod with the goodness of a MCR to hopefully create a 'best of both worlds'.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!
MCMCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:
Based on CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies (the aim is to update the ROM every Friday), updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.
For this MCR we've compiled a CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly build, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

Apps aren't disabled on boot
Jelly Bean added a feature to disable apps on boot that aren't intended for your region (Wallet, Ears, Magazines etc.). I think we're smart enough to make that decision ourselves right? So that doesn't happen in a MCR.

Running M1, will flash this tonight when I get home!
PD: Installed R4 prebake, compared with default kitchen settings and although ThinkFree is in the zip file, it is not showing up in my installed list.
Otherwise, noticed very few differences with the CM 10.1 release, for MoDaCo to really be worth it, I'll have to become a paid subscriber and cook the ROM in the kitchen with all the beefy extras (which I am considering).. I just hope MoDaCo ROM and kitchen makes it to the final release of 10.1
Otherwise, keep up the good work, its nice to see optimized versions of an already great ROM.
PS: Tried the Play Magazines, but cannot get anything since Im based in Spain... :s
I'm uploading r5, based on the latest code, now. Watch this space!
P
I've just done the Friday update in the kitchen, which brings it up to the latest nightly and Superuser is also updated.
Once a few members have baked and confirmed all is well i'll issue the updated prebake!

Yes, of course!

r5 release (including prebake) is now available!
P
Kitchen updated!
As always, will refresh prebake when kitchen bakers confirm all is well. No wipe required, back up before flashing!
P
Changelog
11th Feb
Update to the latest nightly (JOP40G)
Updated all included apps
The r6 prebake is now online!
The next update will probably come as 4.2.2 is merged into CM.
P
r7, based on the JDQ39 / 4.2.2 release, is now in the kitchen!
Since this is a COMPLETE rebase, it'd be great if kitchen users could test it before I create the prebake. As always, once everything is confirmed OK, i'll put up the prebake.
Enjoy!
P
Changelog
22nd Feb
Completely rebased on JDQ39 (4.2.2) nightly with all MCR features and updates merged in.
What a throw back to the days of me flashing my Sidekick 4G. It's nice to see you working on the Nexus, Paul.
The r7 prebake is now online. Enjoy!
P
I've just made a small update to the kitchen - this fixes a FC issue with Play Store services and also adds the Ovivo Mobile APN.
Would anyone be interested in a kitchen option to fix AdBlock again for 4.2.2? This is technically a security hole, but i've had at least one request.
P
Will this be switching over to "Koush's new Superuser app"

Extract the package to an accessible location. You should have three *.zip files.
Copy all three *.zip files to the SD Card or internal memory.

Wipe /system (mounts & storage > format /system > Yes)
Flash the nook_1337rom_xx.zip and reboot.
Follow through normal B&N setup, then boot back into recovery.
Flash Nooter-Part1.zip and reboot back into the OS.
You should be brought to ReLaunch instead of the B&N homescreen.
Open YouTube. Hit Menu -> My channel. At the prompt that appears, tap Add Account.
Sign in with your Google credentials (Gmail and password) and close YouTube.
Open Gmail. Tap menu -> Sync. Gmail will promptly crash (straight to home; no FC or "unfortunate" stop)
Reboot back to CWM again. This time, flash Nooter-Part2.zip.
Reboot again and enjoy!
Upgrade Instructions for coming up from previous versions of the ROM
Download the latest *.zip file and extract it somewhere safe. As a reminder: THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE FILE
Copy the three contained *.zip files to your SD card.

FAQ
Q: "What home launcher does this ROM use?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: It uses the ReLaunch launcher.
Q: "Where are the downloadable files?" - @kwyrt
A: Since this thread is a DevDB project, the downloads are in a separate page, which is accessible through a link in the ribbon above the OP.
Q: "Does this project use Android 2.3?" - @dorfd1
A: No, it doesn't - the only reason the 1st OP says it does is because 2.3.x is the lowest Android version allowed in the DevDB system. This ROM uses Android 2.1.
Q: "Will multiple languages be added to this ROM?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: No, they won't, because, believe it or not, it's already a stock feature - you just need root to access it! Here's how:
1. Install the app Termimal Emulator from the Market.
2. Open it, and enter the command
Code:
su
The line should now have a "#" on the far left.
3. Enter the command
Code:
am start -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings
...which launches a hidden settings menu.
4. Tap "Locale Picker[English (United States)]".
5. Choose your language, and enjoy!
Q: "Is this ROM rooted?" - @youxiaojie
A: Yes, it is.
Q: "Are you guys working on an updated ROM that uses 2.3?" - @frap129
A: No, because as of now nobody has been able to update the Android version on the Nook Touch device. 2.1 is the version we are developing for. UPDATE - It's looking like Gingerbread and beyond may be possible for the NST, so the new answer to your question is YES.
Can you post some screenshots?
Which homeapp is used? I'm asking as the one in [NST/NSTG][ROM] Tweaked Modded ROM [Feb16] is restarting / falling into refresh loop with some of my books, which is a bit annoying

It uses ReLaunch. Give me about an hour and I can throw together some screenies.
Edit: they're up now! Sorry for the delay. Check up top.

No, it's not - the DevDB options just don't allow any Android version below 2.3.x. It's really Android 2.1, just like every other Nook thing.
Sorry about that.

Just flashed and already like it from the start. New, nice pre-boot and shutdown screens and boot animation. Home is just what I searched for. Let me test it for a day or two. I'll let you know about ups and downs, pros and cons... Review comes afterwards
1st question, is there a way to make app drawer to just display icons in 4 columns (with labels or not) instead of 2-column short-list?
2nd are you going to include additional languages similar to HERE?

Glad you're enjoying the ROM!
Answer to 1st question - I bet there is, but I don't know for sure - try messing around with the ReLaunch settings a bit.

Hmm. Well, I don't think we're planning on adding that, but I'll talk to @yattaro and see what he says.

Would be nice, but that's not a show stopper.
Rom still did not crash, launcher resterted only once, but it can be my fault. Works smooth and fast. Good job!
Yet I have not opened even one book :silly: lol
In the mean time I've added some, in my opinion, bugs.
I'm going to die now... See you tomorrow

I might look into swapping the settings.apk and merging the functionality in framework-res.apk in that mod you posted. You might be able to flash that mod straight over this, but you'll lose a lot of the theming that @thenookieforlife3 originally added, notably the status bar.
does it be rooted , support init.d and app2sd?

It is rooted.
It does not support init.d yet, but we're working on it.
If App2SD works on any other regular rooted Nook, it works just fine for this ROM, too.
By the way, next time, please don't quote the OP, and save all of us from ESD (Excessive Scrolling Disorder). Also, please edit your post and delete the [quote][/quote] tags and everything in between them.

Are you guys working on compiling an updated ROM? I noticed all the changed files are included in the source other than the device tree, so I may try compiling 2.3, and if that works, higher.
