[Q] Power Bank - Which ? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

hey guys, just wondering which battery bank you guys would recommend?
I want a small one but a powerful one. I noticed a few which were 12000mAh and also some even 18000 and 20000, but not sure if they are any good and such.
Can anyone recommend a good brand/quality one?

I have one from anker, 12000 I believe. Works very well. Charge is not as fast as wall unit but charges, which is all that matters.

Thanks
I shall take a look into it.. there is also an iSounds one that I found which is 16,000mAh, but it seems a bit big in physical size
Anyone know of any others?

Been using a New trent 5500mAh version for a year and love it. Much better than a huge extended battery that only works on the phone.
I might move up in size down the road but quality wise, the new trent is nice, and priced right.

UNU Electronics make one called The Vault. It's 11000. I used it here in NY during hurricane Sandy when I had no power for a few hours. Works great. Take a look for it on Amazon.

Thanks man But I am looking for something bigger in mAh, 5500 seems too little, I want to be able to use it when I need it and maybe even with multiple devices. 5500 is not bad, but I am looking for something over 10,000mAh

I might buy one of these http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/85820/amazon.com-ravpower-dynamoonthego-10000mah-external-battery-pack-w-2x-usb-ports-rppb07-w-usb-wall-charger-pouch Just because of the price.

thanks for posting, maybe i will buy this one too, i mean afterall, its only $30 bucks, so you cant go wrong, i just hope it actually uses the samsung charging cells as it states, 10,000mAh isnt bad, but I was looking for a few which are 18,000mAh the the price was also $30, and it was pretty small in size, but quality looked pretty cheap so i dont know how legit it was, i didnt want to get that if they are not actually 18,000mAh or just sh!tty quality as the cheap china batteries which are like 7800mAh lol

Have you ever used one of these? Just saying because 18000 mah is a lot. 12k and I can charge my phone 5-6 times without charging the external battery. I've even charged my tablet a couple of times with it.

We have a 3100mah battery, a 12000mah charger can't possibly charge the battery more than 4 times (actually slightly less than 4), it's just mathematically impossible.

You are correct, my mistake still stuck on my GS3, just got my Note last week or so. Even so, that's still lot of charging. I've yet to need anywhere near that. Just saying. Obviously you know better what you need.

Or something along the lines of this maybe haha

I still didnt bite the bullet on that deal for the RavPower one, still debating, and still have 2 weeks until the deal expires lol

My suggestion is give the ravpower a try before the sale ends, and test the heck out of it to see if it is to your liking.

Thanks! Any links/model numbers I should look for?
Also do these batteries have to be wall charged like some I've heard of?
Check out http://batteryboss.org/. There are some 2000mAhs out there that are actually 1100s.
These are the batteries that I use. I have a few, and I have bought them for my friends. I have found them to be the best battery that fits under the stock door. They do last a fair amount longer than the stock batteries.

I'm glad to hear that. I just ordered those yesterday. I wasn't too sure about getting those Chinese batteries, but I figured I couldn't really go wrong at 16 bucks for 2 batteries and an external charger.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G with Tapatalk
So if it comes with a quick charger, does that mean the battery shouldn't be charged while inside the phone or is it just a convenience thing?
It's much more convenient to use that charger, and plus it FULLY charges the battery. I never plug my phone in, I just swap fully charged batteries every morning.
Somehow when I see a $16 price tag for 2x2000Mah batteries + charger, a mental image of an exploded shrapnel piercing a Chinese man's carotid artery comes to mind.

Somehow when I see a $70 dollar price tag for a battery i see a greedy little monopoly man wiping his ass with $100 bills. Batteries are dirt cheap to manufacture, we only pay exorbitant amounts for them because Americans are stupid. Same reason why companies like Monster Cable are still in business. "If it costs more it MUST be better!"

Yep. If you don't already have a wall charger I recommend getting the set I linked. That charger is key.
The stock battery as far as I'm aware of is the best battery for the size. All those higher rated ones, are liez.
the best battery that doesn't require you to change the cover is the stock red oem battery the phone comes with. check batteryboss.org for proof. if you could get more juice out of the same size htc would of done that.

Sorry to say, but you're wrong. The galilio batteries that I linked last noticeably longer than the stock red batteries. I have 2 of the stock ones and I don't use them at all because the galilios are better. Check this thread out, dude tested them and the 1800mah ones from galilio tested higher capacity than the oem batteries, over 100mah more. Sure they aren't true 1800 and the 2000s arent true 2000 but who cares? They are dirt cheap and DO perform better than the stock battery.

Anker 1750mAh battery for SGH-T989

So I found this 1750mAh Anker battery for the T989 and I'm wondering:
The standard OEM battery is 1850mAh.
This Anker battery is 1750mAh.
Anker is known to make higher capacity batteries that don't require a separate back cover. (I've had an HTC Sensation and an Anker battery was like heaven on it)
So is this Anker battery really 1750mAh? It would seem kind of pointless since the OEM battery is 1850mAh ... Has anyone ever bought this before? There are no reviews
Yeah, I saw that as well. I don't think it's worth getting since it's a bit worse in mah compared to the stock...
I knew that the Ankers were reasonably better than stock EVO 3D batteries, but this does not seem to be the case here.

I'm wondering if anyone got it. Its not even so expensive. I suppose Anker made it 1750mAh but did some tweaks to make it last longer than stock, if that's possible at all. Just a guess.
Any other batteries anyone would recommend? I only prefer one that barely adds much thickness with a new cover.

There's a 95% chance I will be ordering this soon, so I'll keep this updated when I receive it. I have good hopes for it because of my previous experiences with Anker batteries. They work wonders.
keep us posted of your impression
Just ordered the battery
I'll post my results.
Edit:
My results with the 2050mah battery are noticeably better than stock. I would go as far as to say that I'm getting 2 or more extra hours out of each charge. For $10 on Amazon, you are definitely getting your money's worth.
I was going to insert some screenshots and the Amazon link, but apparently I have to post 8 times to the forums before I can post links..... so, you'll have to take my word for it and do your own Amazon search for the Anker 2050.

knowing anker, this will probably have less juice than the oem samsung battery. This might equal to 1900ah and you lose NFC
Just ordered one, hopefully it really is 2200ah because definitely need it to last just as long as the oem. Great Price if it is. I don't think I really need nfc that much so I'm good.
But is there any good charger docks people have used that can charge the phone and the spare battery st the same time?

I have had the Anker for almost 2 weeks now and it seems like it last a little longer than OEM battery and it doesn't get warm at all no matter how heavy you use your phone.
I'm able to get 15+ hrs easily with 2-3 1/2 hrs screen on time at least 30 mins talk time etc etc. For $8.99 not bad at all and yea in the states NFC isn't that important yet.

Android Beam and S Beam use NFC.
It's short distance (< 1 inch) always-on communication.
With these batteries you cannot tap 2 android phones to share website links and information, or tap 2 samsung phones together to share files/pictures.
And you can't use Google Wallet, which you get free $10 if you sign up for (free). Wallet works anywhere that has those MasterCard PayPass readers.

It's mAh (milliamps) not "ah." At 2200Ah, you're talking automobile batteries.
Tell you what, instead of of butt-meter claims such as " it seems like it last a little longer than OEM battery" or "They are pretty good. And when they say 2200ah, its no bs! This brand is trusted!", why don't you do a true capacity discharge test and let us know the rating.

to give you a heads up http://www.amazon.com/Anker®1900mAh...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
Anker batteries performed better than my Vibrant OEM battery, my MT4G OEM battery, my Sensation OEM battery & my GS2 OEM battery. All results based on the "butt-meter" method. The batteries may not live up to the marketing hype but were always better than what came in the original box. I have 2 GS3s in the house so I need/want NFC but will order anyway.
I have Anker for the S2. Pretty good. I should be getting my 2 pack shortly. Too bad they don't include the universal charger like they did with the S2 double pack.
Hahaha...saw the review on Amazon..."The nfc is working half the time." Hahaha... It's funny how people buy things online without reading anything.
With spare batteries...you should worry less about how you manage the battery life now...if it dies...just swap! :good:
People that haven't bought these Anker batteries and talk crap don't really know what they are talking about. I had these before for 3 of my other phones and they perform just as well as the OEM minus the NFC. Thanks for the heads up civic! You can't beat $16 for two shipped to your door

Great Batteries for Epic 4G Touch?

Hey guys!
I just laid down some cash for a Virgin Mobile Epic 4G Touch and as we all know, there's almost no difference between their version and Sprint's.
Now, I've been looking around and reading as much as I possibly can about this phone, but it has varied so much around the subject of battery life. I was curious, since I am a bit of a heavy user (Plus, it's my first time having an android phone; so I'm going to be playing around with it a lot), I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to buy a battery or a specific battery that would fit my needs?
My preference is anything(or highest) above 2000mAh without sacrificing dimensions; like I see with the 3800mAh batteries that come with the custom back door plate, AND it's reliable!
I've run across Ebay and Amazon, but the sellers and reviews are quite a mixed bunch with tips and tricks to make the batteries work. However, I just want a battery that performs like it's supposed to.
Any helpful answers will, of course, be thanked! :good:

Some even report that the batteries perform WORSE than the OEM battery afterwards. I know this could be a cause of over-charging, but sometimes it can also be the build qualities. It's a conundrum.
Are there any batteries that are guaranteed to work?... I really don't want to lay down $60 for a decent battery...
I know these things can be a "you get what you pay for", but surely there's something out there that contradicts this...

:good:

Like you, I did a lot of research and there was no aftermarket battery I felt comfortable about, regardless of the various price points. So in the end, I just purchased 3 OEM Samsung batteries so I can carry one or two around with me if I know I'll gone for a while from home. I also purchased a PowerGen 9000mah portable battery charger that I really like. It's not that bulky nor heavy and it's good to have around when there is no outlet and you don't want to power off your phone. It's also useful to have when playing games.

Where did you get the 3 OEM Samsung batteries from? And for how much?
My batteries pretty bloated, I've been looking just like you guys but the safest bet for me would only be a OEM battery.

Yeah, I pretty much came to this conclusion last night. Just going to stick with the long-lasting, reliable, OEM batteries.
Where did you purchase these? Know anywhere I can get it cheap?

I purchased mine from a seller on Amazon, as well as the PowerGen unit. I'll see if I can dig up the seller's name.

The around $30 ones aren't OEM. Except the one with a charger stand combo but that's $40.
For comparison that same charger stand combo is $45 at Samsung and $55 at Sprint, so it's a good deal if I wanted it.
I just purchased an OEM battery from android central with the coupon code for a total of $26. I'm happy.

The Amazon seller's name is: DependableResource. For the 3 OEM batteries, my cost was ~$57.

Edit: Actually, I couldn't find any OEM battery in his listings.
I guess he no longer sells them?

Crap, you're right. My mistake I thought I saw they had them, but I forgot I was thinking of my other phone.
Btw, does anyone have a general idea, from personal use, how long those Anker batteries actually last for before they start not holding a good charge? My battery is fine for now, but I just want to get a spare battery, and external charger for the hell of it.

Anker has an 18 month warranty and ive never had an issue with then. The one I bought for my et4g before I sold it was 1950mah instead of 1800 and I was getting ~7hrs screen on with it on AOKP

Mugen 1950 mAh for Epic 4G Touch. I hear great reviews about it. A bit expensive, but I would rather than buying the ebay 3 pack for $12. I personally am going thru that now.
And if you ebay it then make sure they are the mAh that is listed when you receive them.

I bought a new Samsung battery from eBay for $11 last week. It doesn't hold a charge as long as the battery that came with my phone.
It's been fine, but I definitely prefer the battery that came with my phone.

External battery or just another batterie?

What should I go for? I know the question is kinda vague but all I see in retail is $100 battery cases which is way too expensive...

It depends on what you carry around with you. I usually just go from home to work and back home, so i can charge either at home or at the office. But when I go on business trips I usually have my laptop bag, so I use a portable battery pack.
I've been using this one for a few weeks and it works really well, it'll charge your phone at least twice.

What phone do you have? Does it have a built-in battery (like iPhone) or a changeable battery(e.g. Samsung)?
If your phone has changeable battery, you can actually have another one if you like. It costs less than $15 from a third party.
If you own an iPhone type, an external battery charger or a battery case would be the only way. I personally prefer an external one since the battery case adds too much weight and destroy the sensational design the phone has. And as you said, they charge a lot due to an exquisite workmanship. Otterbox is the leading brand in this type of case, they provide waterproof, dustproof cases which is awesome if you are a backpacker. Their price is therefore pretty high(over $70).
Another option is to get an external battery charger, which is what I'm doing. I have an iPhone 4S and I have a RavPower 14000mAh external battery charger. I choose this brand because they have a reasonable price and a few of my friends has introduced it to me.
There're some other high-end brands in this like Mophie, Mipow, they sell $15 more than the one I have. So if you prefer a luxury one, you may consider theirs.
I think you can get all of those batteries from amazon.

I'm really happy with that rom.
Very smooth and stabel and the battery life is just awesome
Unfortunately my camera is not working but it seems like i'm the only one.
I purchased a replacement battery from a BatteriesPlus store. Great life out of it, comes with 1-yr warranty (bring it back to to the store with any trouble for replacement).
Also, Groupon runs all kinds of deals on accessories. My wife just picked up a Mophie S3 battery case for me for $40!!! In conparrison, BestBuy has them for $99.
