Reboot Mid-call? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Has anyone had their phone reboot mid-call? Mine has done it once a day... for the past weekish.
I'm rooted and am running Perseus alpha 27 kernel... I have a few minor cosmetic mods too like toggles, some CSM edits, but nothing else different.
Could this be caused by the kernel? I'm not sure what to do to troubleshoot this issue... it is hard to reproduce the problem so, I'm not really sure if there's a specific line of events that trigger it. All I'm sure of is that it always happens while in a call.... no other times.

Load a different kernel and test to see if that is it. Have you overclocked or messed with voltages?

I loaded the newest version of it... im hoping that does the trick. I set the voltages to stock. It was overclocked. If it still occurs, I'll post back.

Newest version of the kernel with normal voltages and over clocked to 1800 and it happened again. Any suggestions on what to do next?

try not overclocking for starters and bring the phone as baseline as possible to eliminate variables in trying to identify the cause of the problem.

Well, I have been trying to use Tegrak since they said it was updated for this phone. I kept getting error messages but I think they did another update. You can overclock to 1.452. Anything above and you need the paid version. I am on the stock kernel now. If this is already known, I apologize. I haven't seen it mentioned. I can imagine what 1.6 would look like. Time to push it up a bit..

What voltages are you using? I have no problems at 1.56 at 1.375V. I didn't touch internal voltage. I haven't tried to go any higher. I was basically just playing around with it for a few minutes.

yup. Although this thing is such a beast I dont see a need to OC it, UV to save battery, yes I actually have mine underclocked to 1.1ghz and undervolted -50 across the board and I notice no dip in performance so far, this thing is still buttery smooth and fast

to chime in, I know most kernels with UV built in usually do -50, so if you did a -50 across the board you should be ok. Some speeds you can get away with more but if you UV too much it will lock up. I think the higher speeds you can actually UV a **little** more than -50, maybe -75 but it really depends on your chip
I really wonder how they do this on the stock kernel. It's the first I've seen that will allow you to OC/UV without a custom kernel..
Oh and OP: I think you should add more to the thread title.. like "Tegrak - Overclock/Undervolt on stock kernel!!!" I think it would get a lot more hits

Yeah, underclocking can help on the already great battery life and if you are a speed demon, this app does that as well. I usually just test to see if I got a strong phone or not.

hehe like I said in on of the other posts. If you change the thread title I'm sure it will get a lot more hits. If people see "Tegrak: Overclock/Undervolt stock kernel" They would click faster than if they just see "Tegrak" just a suggestion though
root?
I apologize in advanced if this has commented anywhere else.
My guess is this requires root, and that the comments about stock kernel are in regards to root + stock kernel.
Just to keep the doubts out, does this require root?
Again, I apologize if this is said in advanced. Probably checking the app reqs would answer this question. Just commenting it as it may prove useful for me and for others as well.

I would LOVE to give this Tegrak thingy a try but I am somewhat confused on what needs to be downloaded and installed.
I am currently on the following:
ROM = midNIGHT 2.0
Kernel = Bubby's [ACS][KERNEL] CWM 5.0.2.3 with sd/internal storage mounted
Mods = Crawrj's AIO mod
Now, when I search for Tegrak on the market, I get the following:
Tegrak Kernel - Free
Tegrak Overclock - Free
Tegrak Overclock Ultimate - $2.34
Tegrak Kernel Donation - $3.73
Which files do I need to download and install? Is it an app? Do I need to flash anything via Odin/CWM?
The apps on the Market really don't say much as to how to properly go about installing this.
I just need to know what I need to do so I can overclock and mess around with the voltages. Thanks in advance.

To mess with the voltages you need the paid version. I have Tegrak Overclock Ultimate. you dont need to flash anything but it says it wont work with a custom kernel, only the stock kernel.

Hey Zedomax.. I need a video on how to wipe my ass. I figured you would have one since you have a video for everything else.
@zedomax, I installed Tegrak Overclock and after installing and giving it root privileges, I get a "Failed to run insmod!" error everytime I try to load the overclock module. I guess midNIGHT ROM is not compatible with Tegrak? I will be forced to flash a stock, rooted ROM like the one supplied by crawrj with his Stock EG30 Deodexed with Root/Busybox 1.18.4 ROM?

[Q] swapper for swapfile in EH17

I was made to undersatnd that running a swapfile in GB ROMs (such as EH17) would eliminate the random reboots etc that plauge GB right now.
Does anyone know how to make the swapper program work wth those GB roms out there?
Bump.
I think it has to do with partitioning the SD card.
I know there is a way to do it. I'll post when I get it figured out
Next time, dont bump. But I think we've pretty much established it wasn't a ram/low memory issue. It's a low voltage issue.

if its voltage related perhaps the reason for success is that i use set_cpu to underclock

That is only kernel source, not a full tar release. The closest you can get is the nandroid dump. Restore that, root, flash an EXT4 kernel.

Why don't you Odin to EC05 stock, accept the OTA, then follow the steps on rooting it which includes flashing an EXT4 kernel?
---------- Post added at 09:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:54 AM ----------
Here is supposed to be a clean GB. You will probably still need to flash an EXT4 compatible kernel, and may have to run RFS2EXT4 if you are set on EXT4. It also helps you set up to use Heimdall instead of Odin.

How is the ROM you are running now? If you are seeing some wierd things at 1400 Mhz, you may want to try toning it down to 1200.

I have that one too. Noobl has a point with the gps being fine. With the fix everyone is doing to get 9 sat locks is over kill and does drain battery if you leave it on all the time. with out the gps fix I get better battery life and locks as fast and as accurate. And that's from my own personal observation.
But I'm running acs v5 with sumarai colonel at 1.49 ghz. Runs almost perfect boot will reboot at least one time daily at those speeds. If I leave out at 1ghz, the reboots does NOT go away. Still get it. But 1 reboot ain't bad. I think its red headed step child gingerbread running out of ram.

Your phone will kill itself above 1.2... you will get to the point that you will get reboots even on stock at 1.0 ghz from abusing the processor previously. This is why I never overclock at all. I never have issues on any rom with reboots.

I am glad im not the only one. I have tried ACS v5, and Legendary Rom with both the nuberal and samurai kernels and still get random reboots. I have tried running it overclocked at 1.1 ghz, 1.2ghz, 1.3ghz, 1.4ghz, same results. All overclocked speeds last the same amount of time before I get a random reboot.
All the custom roms are very, very similar in terms of bugs and random reboots.
I am trying starskyRom at the moment, and so far, its flawless...well...flawless when the phone is on. The only bug I can report is my battery screen does not show up when I try to charge the phone when the power is off. Nothing very big, but still annoying knowing there is always something. In the end im willing to take it in the nuts a few times to get a good final product in the end. Lots of good developers around here, and they do great work.
Stock ei22 would be a very, VERY stable rom if they would just fix the damn GPS, Keyboard Lag, and Screen Rotation lag.
Given time all these roms will become perfect, but until then, we are just BETA testers.

Not RAM. It was proven on the leaks that it was voltage and speed causing the reboots. We fixed it with Tegrak and SetCPU combo. RAM does not leak out. Lots of apps suck it dry and the stock task manager sucks and does not see a LOT of apps that are stealing RAM. Have not seen anyone mention a reboot on Legendary. As for the GPS with the fix I never lose lock, without the fix I lose lock every 15 minutes on a trip and would occasionally require a reboot to get it back...not the best situation when driving. Give me 9 out of 9 locks any day and a car charger and I am good to go.

Yup, typical response. Every device behaves different with these mods. I find stock ie22 to be the best stable room. Once you go deodex, you remove stability for some reason. That's from my observation of being a addicted flashing crack hor.

Quick question about a new kernel

So the other day I installed an unofficial version of cm9 on my Evo. As many of you know, cm comes with options to over clock out of the box. Sadly, with the stock kernel you can only go so far. I found a new kernel online, and flashed it onto my phone, only to find out it ruined the rom, forcing me to reflash cm9. I was wondering if there are any kernels that I can install to overclock my phone further? Pics included

May I ask why you have the desire to.overclock so violently? Most the time, underclocking will even show no loss In performance and save battery. All times I have overclocked, I've never noticed a major difference.. it may be slight but not enough for me to care..
why is your min/max the same?
The rom I downloaded is a little laggy, just wishing to speed things up a bit.

One more thing.. pegging your CPU at max ghz will eventually destroy your device. The EVO is made with a single core 1 GHz snapdragon and so anything really over 1GHz will really put a strain on your processor. Best advice would be to either flash a new kernel, ROM, or find some tweaks to decrease lag. 1.2GHz isn't healthy for your phone...

That seems kinda low for an overclock gn2. What ROM are you running? If you are custom right now try stock without any mods to it and see what you get. You also may want to try and undervolt it. Also check what CPU settings you are running using setcpu or nofrills. Change the setting to performance and see if that helps.

If it were me, I'd focus on getting my imei back and starting with a fully functional phone. Playing with unsupported (for our device) roms (such as the TW 4.3) or modems is a typical way to lose the imei. I am referring to the other request for support thread you posted.
Lag sucks. Not being able to use your phone as a phone is worse. Focus on one problem at a time.

Given the status of my phone. Being on custom clean rom didnt really need to OC or anything. OC tends to make my note 2 unstable and bring the battery life down a little. Think the cons out weighs the pros really.
