multi window!? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I know this has already been brought up and the person how brought it up was pretty much laughed at, I want to port over the multi window feature to our t989's and I know that the screen is small compaired to the note 2 but, I would like it still. I know that it has been ported over for the s2 i9100 and it works great. I also know that the roms for that phone are not compatable with our phones and people have bricked their devicesby flashing those roms, so I will not try and brick My phone!!! I just want to know if there is anyone that can port this over maby from the I900? I would gladly pay for it. Or can someone atleast point me to a link. So that I can teach my self and test on some other phones before flashing to this one. I love the features of the note 2 but I love the size and feel of my s2 so I do not want to swich. I just want to get a few of the features. Any help would be great. Please any hard core devs out there, please help I dont want to just use the stuff you make I know it takes time and skill, but I am more than willing to pay for it. Thanks Kevin

So first you say YOU want to port it over, then go into why you want someone else to do it...I mean, help you.
Ok.
I know it's being worked on. Maybe you can wait patiently

Thanks smart ass! I do want to port it but I dont know where to start. Im also willing to brick a few other phones to learn, I also was asking if someone could do it for me and Ill pay them. The only reason I said both is because I want to learn and I also did not know if someone else was working on it or not. Because all the threads Iv read all people did was down the idea because of the s2 screen size. So I figured I would offer to pay someone to do it because of my lack off knowledge in porting and if nobody wanted to at least they could point me in the right direction to start. Was that really that hard to grasp?

If there is anyone out there who can ether port it and Ill pay for it !!!!!!!!!OR!!!!!!!!! help me in learning by sending me a link to a how to so I can try myself and test on a few other phones while learning. If so that would be great and please only people interested in helping need reply. I know I dont know how and I dont know if anyone is working on this and it is not a patience issue I would just like to learn and do it myself if nobody else is doing so. I would have thought that a person willing to learn and or pay for and not just rushing people so they can just get it for free would not get crap from people who have nothing better to do. So please save that for someone who cares and lets grow up, all I want is help not stupidity. Thanks

Ididnt mean any disrespect and im sorry for the way i responded but if you read his post it was kind of uncalled for i just was asking for help. Im trying to learn and it seems like most of the time there is some one who has something smart to say. I mean what good is a question and answer thread if the answers are like that? Its almost like some people just think that every one should know what their doing and if they dont they jump on the oppertunity to make them feel stupid. Im sorry for the way i handled it, i was childish in that and it was wrong. I will just brush it off next time. All i wanted was some help and i went about that situation the wrong way.

Bro it happens. Dont worry about it. Nothing wrong with wanting to learn or wanting what you want when u want it. I think you handled it well. Thats just my opinion.

Hiya. I need some expert advice

Soo.... I have had android phones for about year. Now I have the epic and I love it a lot.., but I'm hearing about rooting and ROM'S and all this other stuff... What is it? And by doing these things will I damage my device.? I need to be clued in big time.
well before you get dinged for posting this let me try and give a link that may shed some light
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700
Well... that guide on what everything was helped a little bit but it was all kinda confusing seeing as I'm new to the terms and whatnot. It basically sounds dangerous though and if I accidentally "brick" my phone I am going to die what are the positives of rooting my phone? And also, why would I get dinged fo posting this???
Cuz is posted 1000 times and u need to do your homework and start reading starting with 1click root is your best bet. And don't be afraid this phone is almost impossible to brick like I said almost and good luck.

Because technically this is supposed to be a developers board. They want you to learn the basics elsewhere and come here to develop new software.
And also we have people asking "what are root and roms" pretty much every other day. And then new people come and don't bother to read the threads that already answer their questions or use the search to find answers. Instead, they expect someone to start giving them the answers from scratch all over again.

If you can't afford to be without your phone for a day or can't afford to replace the phone if it becomes damaged, then do NOT mess with it.
Most circumstances all this is harmless/recoverable, but if the phone is a necessity (or not yours, ie parents), I wouldn't mess with it.
The only thing more annoying that seeing 50 post threads consisting of 48 people commenting on "wrong section" is threads from people that just messed up their parents phone and -now- it's an emergency.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798067
That should cover pretty much everything you need to know to get started and research stuff on your own.
Ummm thanks to everyone? I appreciate the advice and I'll try to figure this out. I'm just a newbie here (obviously) and I didn't know the ropes about how to find out "basic" info... Thanks for the links that were posted as well. Also, for the person who said something about this being my parents phone...? This is my phone.... and I paid a lot to get it and I don't want to damage it
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Ohh... and also I just believe I'm going to leave my phone as it is... I don't see the positive benefits of rooting it. Plus I don't want to damage anything
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That's probably a good idea. You shouldn't make any major changes to your phone if you don't understand what you are changing.
Oh yeah, no benefits whatsoever
WHY SHOULD I ROOT MY PHONE?
Rooting offers several great things including, but certainly not limited to, access to hidden features, total customization, better battery life, and overclocking. It gives you control over the device that you paid money for in the first place. The devs here are great at finding features that the manufacturers left out or disabled and making them work.

people in this forum are really starting to piss me off. XDA is a place for developers and users alike. This way devs can do there work and we can be there little guinea pigs and give them user feedback. But then people like you come in here and when someone ask a simple question you dont direct him where to go, tell him hes in the wrong forum, or help him at all in any little way. you just question his intelligence. why cant people in this forum just start helping people the way forums are supposed to? in the time you wrote tht negative comment you surely could of just told him you dont know or something. The thread i posted above should have enough info for you to make your own, all i know about bootanimations is that there just a collection on .png files streaming together to make moving picture (video! (duh)) and they usually contain a desc.txt file (in the folder filled with all the .png's) the desc.txt file is where you can customize the resolution you want the .pngs to run at. Im sure with the help of google and 10 minutes or so on XDA and you'll have you very own, self-made, bootanimation. Im sorry i cant get into specifics as that im not even sure how to make a bootanimation and never have. but after seeing how easy it is i might try one myself!
I couldn't agree with you more Kevin!!!! I'm new to this stuff but I have learned an IMMENSE amount of knowledge from XDA and the CM forums. It really pisses me off when someone like me asks a question and then gets railed by all the "experts"! Ya, I know that they may be "stupid" questions to some of you guys, but when I or some other "noob" asks it's because we don't know, not all of us are ADB programmers! Don't get me wrong I absolutely love that you devs are out there doing what you do and that you make it accessible to "noobs" like me, but an honest question deserves an honest answer not humiliation.
Remember, there was a time when even you guys that "know it all" were "noobs" and had to ask "stupid" questions
I made a request on CM for a bootanimation, and then I found this post here, now thanks to Kevin, I have the info to make my own animation and all it took was him pointing to a helpful link.
I'm not an idiot and am pretty damn good at doing things for myself, give me some how-to's or a walk-thru or point me in the right direction and I will learn, probably the same for most "noobs" out there, but first we gotta ask some questions!
Thanks again Kevin for your comment AND the very helpful link!

Watch...
Read - Why you get short/one word answers! (The Long Answer)
Been through all that stuff already...
As I have said before... why go to all the bother of posting the same stuff again and again?
I have spent the last 3 weeks looking around from site to site picking up bits here and there then eventually back to where I have started... albeit a little bit wiser...
I'm obviously missing something here...
Replying with this is as bad as spam.!... I have seen it on umpteen posts, over and over again, like a broken record.
If I had spent more time on the zx spectrum and the bbc which we had in 5th year before i left school I would not need to come on to this site..ha ha. but as we were not as lucky as you lot help is something that is greatly appreciated!
Rather than gloating how good I was, I would be coming on here to help rather than to belittle... otherwise what is the point of being a senior member with all this knowledge.
But this is something that comes with age... As we get older we realise....
Some day you will look back at yourself and think to yourself.
You will remember this post or some other that someone will surely post when frustrated with replys like this.
Read why you get short answers, because your lengthy reply clearly shows you haven't, and give the video another watch too, then you might understand why your thread about an existing thread is highly annoying.

Now you see how short a life you have had, when you have to use other peoples words...
And as for grasping things...The point...
Follow a simple thing and get so far and thats it..
Point.. We are here to learn, not just to have a phone... better than everyone else!!!
I, believe it or not am trying to learn but that is why we ask questions, albeit, stupid ones to you lot in the know!
Even the best of us will have to eventually ask a stupid question... It comes to us all... you will remember this!
You are so much in the know, then answer the question that I started with...
As most of the people that get through this initial test seem to be more helpful..
Maybe one day I will be able to help someone new as there will always be
And be a bit more constructive.
Try putting the same energy in to re reading the guide as you do with these argumentative posts and you might get somewhere.

Looking at these posts I can see and have learnt quite a lot actually...
It dosent take a lot to work out that if one neewbe gives you 10 thanks, as I have, for thinking and being polite that somebody actually replied,
do a bit of multiplication and you soon realise... 900 thanks doesnt actually say a lot....
especially if what you are sending people work done by somebody else....
I, after 3 weeks could go from page to page looking for newbees and feed them this stuff... the same stuff over and over again.
Since all you are doing is this, can, as I see, you never seem to answer any questions directly.

Anyone want to test my rom?

hey guys, i just modified the liquid smooth rom cause i was bored.
all credits go to the liquid team...i really didnt do anything hard, and i dont consider myself to be a real developer now.
just wondering if anyone wants to test it out to see if it works, and give some feedback.
http://www.mediafire.com/?zj1dfa69nmyewzn
Changes made:
-removal/replacement of a few apps
-build.prop changes
-changes to updater-script
-changed boot animation
Like I said, I didn't make this to make a more optimized version of liquid smooth. It's more of an experiment/attempt to learn a bit.
Thanks.
btw gapps arent included.

im not really trying to promote it to everyone. i just did this as an experiment, and i just want to know if its booting ok, not force closing apps, etc. so that i know whether or not to change something.
How about you test it out yourself before asking others to risk trying it. Just a simple piece of advice.

Feedback:
Who'd want to "Test" a rom from a non-developer, when there are many that are from DEVELOPERS, not to mention the Liquid Smooth was developed by a full team. This to me infers that you are better than a team? Oh well, if you want to try peeps, go for it, but remember, it was done by someone who says he was not a developer.

i clearly said in my original post, that i take no credit for this, and that all credit goes to the liquid smooth team.
By test i didnt mean to go through the whole rom and check if every single thing works. Im just asking that you flash it
and let me know if it boots fine and doenst have any major issues.
like i said, im not trying to promote this as the best rom for the s3 that everyone should start using.
no need to get all pissed...it was just a simple question. If you dont want to try it, why even post?
i understand your concern guys, but blind development happens all around XDA. if this guy today had a "Recognized Developer" tag, i bet many of you would try it out. don't underestimate the OP.
that said, make sure you do understand that there is a risk since this is a blind development, although i doubt anything would go wrong since this is just something the OP took from an already working ROM for the TMO Galaxy S III and tweaked it a bit...

Thanks. Like you said I doubt flashing this would cause any harm. All I really did was change a couple apps and replace some pics in systemui and frameworkres.
Just make a nandroid, flash the rom, let me know if it installs/boots properly, and then just restore your nandroid.
My apologies go out to the op. He did make an effort to further improve an already outstanding rom and asking for testers is KEY. It's a great start for experimenting while increasing your knowledge on the more advanced aspects of android. Will give this a try once my S3 is fully charged!

Considering that its possible to modify firmware images and inject custom malicious code, I don't see anything wrong with questioning someone's motives for putting up a ROM that they admit they don't even remember what changes were done to it. I can understand if you think you've improved upon something but without a change log or anything there isn't really any reason to test it. Being cautious is not the same as being an ass.

Anything to propose? Is there any kind of trusty companies out there where I might be able to have a deal?
Any help will be appreciated.
Sorry for my poor English.
Regards

Btw...
I am pretty sure that this idea will sell or it will be used by millions people.
I might be looking very sure about it but believe me there is nothing like that on Web right now and for sure it will make people of all ages to have fun with it.
So if you know any trustful companies to point... Please do it.
Thank you in advance

First, wrong section. This forum is only for those that have something to contribute to development, ROMS, kernels, tutorials and what not. Questions belong in [email protected]
Edit, looks like it got moved.
Look on XDA tv.. There are tutorials on how to make an app..

I can tell you with certainty that no developer will make this for you without significant money up front.
Your only good option is to make it yourself. Learn the language.
Also, wrong forum.
I am not looking for a developer!
I didn't asked for free help!!!
I already mentioned that I wasn't sure if this is the right section!
And for sure I am not going to learn on this age how to make apps lol.
I only asked if anyone knows a trusty company for such things.
Thank you.

1. He is just saying that it will cost cash, not that you want it for free.
2. You are
3. Use your common sense. Better yet, read the damned rules.
Never make the excuse you don't know where to post. If we could learn where to post, you could also learn. And you most definitely not going to find a company who does not develop but also help you make this app. I'm guessing since of your slightly off english you want an app, you have an idea, yes? If you don't know how to make an app, you must request for the services of someone else to make it for you. So you ARE asking for a dev, or a company of the sorts who develop and market apps. Also, you might not be asking for free help if you want someone to make an app, maybe you do want to pay them. He is just pointing it out. Its like paying a construction company to build a successful resort but not paying them. And make it yourself its not extremely difficult to learn coding and application making (except when it comes to more complex examples, i.e. an app with A.I. or a game which rivals the likes of shadowgun). If it is simple, make it yourself. If the idea is complex, well make sure you got some serious cash before asking a company to do it for you.

Also, you are very very oooffff on the forums. A normal newb or even a n00b would post in general or general q and a. But you are the idiot that posts in a device forum, which has nothing to do with your idea? That's just straight up pathetic.

I would like to let you know that if an idea is good enough, then even construction companies investing on samples etc.

First of all isnt a simple app, and therefore i dont have the necessary skills to create an app. Is like i am asking "you" to buld a production line for coca cola bottles which for me its easy....

At least there are smart people like you. Afterall we cant be all the same right?
For the end, I didnt want to be mean or something with my previous reply. I just wanted to make clear what i am looking for.
Best I could tell you aside from what's already been mentioned is to look for a prominent developer (one known for quality and good support) on one of the app stores, who has similar apps or seems to deal with the type of stuff people who would like yours already use.
Once you've found one or a few, research them, check their website, and if comfortable with them, initiate contact and ask to be put in touch with someone about an app idea you have that they may like to hear about.
If you make it that far it's up to you to sell them on yourself and your ideas.
Good luck with it.

Try contacting a company as they said. We could suggest you some if you give us the broad topic of it, not exact idea, since you know how things like this could play out.
