Downloading now! Android 4.2!! Thank you! Been waiting for this!

Looks good! Thank You

Please report any crazy bugs, like doesnt boot, no data, stuff like that. Most other things we are aware of, thanks.

I'm glad to see Slim is back and up with 4.2. I am curious as to the stability of this, and if GPS works. Every time I check the bugs list I only see the 2 bugs. Just curious if this is good for a daily driver yet. I am currently on CM 10.1 nightlies.

Been a fan Still a fan
I can't wait to give this a spin, I love the sleekness of Slim Roms!

im sure this is because its a beta rom but the settings list is missing a lot of stuff like developers option and such?
....edit....been on this rom for about an hour no problems whatsoever and its seems like great battery life

developer options were hidden in the 4.2 update so noobs didnt mess their phones up. If you got to settings>about phone and you tap/hold the build number( i think it was build number) it should enable developer options

P A C man ALL IN 1
Description
After months of work, the long awaited PACman 4.2 rom is ready for public released. This is still work in progress WIP and there are many missing parts. Though the rom is rock stable for average users. We are working on it daily to fill the missing parts.
Now what is PACman? The idea was to remove the need for a hunt of rom and cure flasholicsm by providing everything xda has in rom development in a single bloat free rock stable rom. This is the FIRST rom of its kind with a hybrid framework consisting on cm10.1, AOKP and AOSPA. What makes PACman unique is this perfect blend of all of these. Be informed PACman is not a "git cherry-pick blahblah yeee i am a dev donatezzz me" rom. It took a LOT of work of thinking behind to merge the frameworks in the right order.

It's a shame about PA prefs and shows the sad state of xda today. Everyone wants a piece of the pie and forgot it's the whole open source thing that got it all started. We have to respect their wishes but it's a shame considering how much effort was put into getting working. It seems that if you don't belong to a certain click then you are cast out. Well we will not be pinned down as this is xda and we are doing our bit to bring new and exciting stuff to a device near you!

read the op guys, the pa team requested that the dev remove the pa preference apk from his rom since it was theirs.. you can pull the apk from a pa rom and push it system/app
---------- Post added at 08:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:11 AM ----------
googled the instructions if anyone wants them...
ashclepdia said:
Now how to do this:
1.When you download an application it usually comes in an .apk format.
2.Using root explorer navigate to the .apk you have downloaded or extracted from a .zip file.
3.Long press the .apk file and choose "MOVE"
4. navigate to /system/app
5. Press the gray button on top of the window you are now viewing that says "Mount R/W"((it will be next to where root explorer shows how much space you have available for the partition you are viewing))
6. Press paste.
7. ::VERY IMPORTANT::you cannot skip this step. Go to the .apk you just pasted and long press it.
Now choose "Permissions"
change the permissions to be rw-r--r--....it will look like this in the boxes
(X=a checked box. _=empty box)
Owner:X X _
Group: X _ _
Others:X _ _
8. now simply reboot your phone and presto it is now a system app. and it wont be wiped away if you perform a data wipe.

absolutely smooth and awesome. What would you recommend for wifi calling since no TW? I haven't played with google voice enough and skype is harder since not all my contacts also have skype accounts. This will probably be my final adopted ROM for my s2 until the s4 hits and I switch carriers.

Could you possibly add flashing instructions to the OP. I've had several of my friends blowing up my phone with texts and I am kinda tired of telling them lol.
Also I have a question on nightlies? Can I flash a nightly dirty or should at least wipe cache before?

Please keep on topic. People don't need to be flipping through pages of off-topic discussion. If it's a comment added to a post that at least has some content relating to the topic, that's fine. No need to start throwing jabs at one another over this either. Just enjoy the ROM and offer some feedback about it to others.

As this takes off there will surely be more themes designed for ChaOS. Most elements in MIUI themes apply but not all. Eventually people will start converting MIUI themes over so that all elements theme correctly since it just takes a little work to do.
People can even create themes that just have specific elements in them, like icon sets, fonts, or boot animations. The theme engine offers a great deal of flexibility for people to create their custom look.
If you know someone that does themes, let them know about ChameleonOS and see if we can get some good themes going.

Let's at least keep the first 10 pages on topic?
Let people get help flashing and report any issues before that

Make sure you are flashing the latest gapps for 4.2.2. I've heard of people having issues when flashing the wrong one. Might also be wise to flash without gapps, make sure it all works and then proceed with flashing gapps. This way the problem can be isolated and others can be made aware of what the real problem is.

4.3 build with bugs atm .. i will fix it soon
Some Clarification for Slim Bean:
! Always full wipe if you came from 4.2.2 or any other 4.3 ROM
! "format /system" in addition to "wipe data factory reset" is needed, some restore scripts could mess up your pretty new installation
! Root access works in another way in 4.3 then it was before. It is disabled by default. If you want to have root access go into your Superuser application or in Settings->Developer options and enable it. Please note as well that currently some third party kernels are around which may break root.
! If you use TitaniumBackup you need to change in settings you backup/restore path to "legacy"

Thanks, I'll rework the data structure tomorrow if I get time, it isn't made that brilliant for multiple devices. I just made a quick solution because @ak asked for Nexus 4 support, and of course it should be available to everyone
Any way to parse the md5s to show in-app for those that have them? Would be so handy.
Edit: Having issues with Carbon downloads too. It just downloads a 23kB html file instead.

I'll take a look at it, I've noticed some trouble with Carbon's download page before.
Still reworking the data structure, it's taking a bit longer than expected.
As soon as it's done and I've created a management interface I'll add a lot more roms/kernels to all the nexus devices
The new version is now live (data restructured, more devices)
The following devices is supported: flo, grouper, hammerhead, maguro, mako, toro, toroplus
I've added the "big guys" ..but let me know if your missing any roms/kernels/gapps
I'm looking into getting the md5-sum - but it's a bit tricky because everyone locate it different places
Carbon ROM support went bye bye?

For now. I haven't found a solution to it yet, and I'd rather leave it out than have broken links as you spotted (23kb html files)
I can give you a quick example, if you select the first download in the list it works:
https://carbon-rom.com/downloads/?device=maguro&type=nightly
But if you refer directly to the download it doesn't work
https://us1.dl.carbon-rom.com/files/maguro/nightly/CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140320-0442-maguro.zip
It has something to do with either host header or referral.
If it should work I have to parse all download links through and "cheat" the host - right now I'm just linking directly to the downloads.
I'll of course look into it

I was at least using it to easily check for nightlies but I definitely get not wanting something broken included.
Thanks! Awesome work!
P.S. What about not spoofing at all, and just opening a browser frame to the Carbon downloads page so that the followed links are still in the browser and therefore from their site?

The only thing in the pipeline is to get Carbon to work. I won't add more roms/devices unless it's requested.. would take ages to go through all the device threads and what good would it do if no one is using the downloads anyway
@osm0sis CarbonRom is now added to all supported devices
New Category "Recovery" has been added, a quick and easy way to download the latest TWRP (looking into adding CWM also)

That's fine with me [emoji4], ROM is still pretty new, hopefully it becomes more worth wild soon. I honestly have a few other favorites myself.
Nice to know its working okay though.

Very smooth so far! I would love to see this ROM go further and more features added!
The only problem I ran into was the quick toggles not working properly.
Not a huge issue for it being in Beta though!
---------- Post added at 06:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:06 PM ----------
Oh I know for most this goes without saying on an Omni based ROM, but you may want to add the step of flashing 4.4.4 gapps in the download instructions
