[Q] screen protector - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Do we still have to use screen protector for this device? The only information I got is that it's oleophobic, but is it scratch resistant as well? Bought this device 2nd hand and it has a screen protector but it's cheap and getting scratches already, I want to remove it but I'm hesitating haha
Stock ROM, custom user.

Yes you need one.
Screen is not scratch resistant

Haven't bothered with a screen protector. Just get a case with a nice lip and place the phone in a pocket that doesn't also have keys and lose change.
If you did get a screen protector, a tempered glass one would pry be the best.

Best screen protector to fill in scratches?

What's the best screen protector to fill in scratches that also is very clear and doesn't have an orange peel effect?

Zagg is good also for filling in scratches. Most liquid/solution based screen protectors are your best bet.

Yeah all wet apply will fill in the scratches but all wet ones have to orange peel to a certain extent

I recently replaced my (no-name) matte screen protector with a ghost armor skin on the display. There was a scratch there from my first weekend with the phone that's completely invisible now. There's no orange peel effect with the ghost armor either.
xoskin and sgp flex you should try out. xoskin is almost without orange peel. sgp flex has slight orange peel but it is slightly smoother and less rubbery than the xoskin
I've never tried the solution-based protectors. Are they difficult to apply?
No just follow the included instructions.

Dinc2 screen

Hi everyone
Does dinc2 has a gorilla glass?
I searched the web and gsm arena hasn't mentioned it.
And some other sites says no.
But then I went to corning gorilla glass official site, there under devices with gorilla inc2 and incs are listed.
And also wikipedia says so too.
So has any one been able to get a scratch on your screen?
I'm looking forward to remove screen protector but don't want to get my screen scratched.
Thanks

I am also thinking about that..any one please confirm...

No scratches here in almost a year with no protector. Same with my girlfriend's dinc2. Be somewhat careful and you should be fine. Scratches are possible even with gorilla glass though.

I have a scratch on mine. It's gorilla glass, but it's not impervious to damage. Basically they add metal (aluminum, I think) to the molecular structure of the glass, but it's not unbreakable/scratch-free.

I've had mine with no case or screen protector for about a year. There is one slight nick on it that you can only see if you really try. I've found it is not worth having a screen protector.
I've had mine for well over a year with no screen protector and no scratches. I have a TPU case on it and treat it reasonably gently, like putting it in a pocket by itself or with non-scratching things like tissues, but have gone to no extraordinary lengths to protect it.

Whos using with no screen protector

So I was wondering if Amy of you use this phone with no screen protector and how the screen looks after x amount of time with normal use?

I have had my phone for about 8 months and never had a screen protector on it.. I can't detect one single scratch..
Same here. I don't like screen protectors. I've had this phone 7-12 months now and while my silver rim has scuffs on it, my screen is immaculate. No hairline scratches. It's absolutely mint. I have an OCD with my device screens though. There's always an LCD screen cleaner and microfiber cloth within arms reach of me. I really, really hate dirty mucked up screens lol

Everyone enjoys not having a screen protector..
Until they drop their phone and it gets scratched
I always use one. They cost 3 dollars on ebay for 6 with free shipping. Its worthed
I dropped my phone plenty...
No screen scratches, bezel is all torn up though.

same here, ive had mine just about a year now. the bezel has some nicks in it.. but even a screen protector wont prevent that. I even ditched my case after about a week or so.. its much less bulky then
Yea my silver part is wearing down a little from the case I'm using. I've been debating not using a screen protector. I have one left, i just get tired of them scratching up and dulling the screen. Then on look at my kindle (I know it has gorrila glass) with no case or screen protection and its amazingly clean. And clear. I'm always on the fence about it

I have used screen protectors before for this phone and been without for a while too. And to tell you the truth only when I have a screen protector you can see scratches from everyday use and from my jeans pockets. And when its without I dont see one single scratch
Not bad
I used mine for about a month without a screen protector. I just got Zagg, and I like the feel a lot better.

I've had my Hercules without a protector for near a year. The screen is pristine, no scratches! I love the glass used on this phone. It can get oily but nothing a microfiber cloth can't wipe clean.
I've had the phone since February with no screen protector. Finally dropped it 2 weeks ago, went skidding face down about 3 feet across an asphalt lot. The bezel is scratched up pretty good, but the glass has no scratches at all.
I generally don't use a screen protector but with this phone I decided to. My HTC Glacier I didn't use one and after a year it had no scratches. The reason I did use one with this phone is to retain its value so I can resell and get a better phone when I get sick of it.
Sand scratches the glass so don't think its 100% safe to go without one.
I just put my last screen protector on here. I got a hair scratch down where the hardware keys are. I used to use those cut to fit ones and they would never cover those buttons. Now the one I have is fitted. I probably won't buy any more

I have had mine for 9 or 10 months and the screen looks great, my bezel was dented and such so I tapped of my screen, took a dremel to it and took off the outer coating, now I have an all white s2 with a matte black bezel, with an awesome screen... Pretty bad ass

No screen protector since February. I take excellent care of my phones but just discovered a few horizontal scratches on it that's barely noticeable but still surprised me. Kept in a tpu case

Screen Protectors! Why do you use them?

s3s have gorilla glass screens I thought and they have protection to scratches but I see lots of people using these screen protectors. Why do people buying it? OR may I wrong?
Scratch resistant isn't the same as scratch proof.
I've always used protection on my touchscreen devices and don't encounter any functional differences.
All it takes...
My last daily driver had gorilla glass, as does my new S3. I'll be using a protector on my new one as soon as I can get one. I went without for the second half of my last phone's life. Granted, I had no shattering, cracking, or other screen failure, but I definitely acquired a few scratches.
After that first scratch, you'll never look at that screen the same again. All it takes is one fall or one coin or key in a pocket. I like having Gorilla Glass as an extra layer of protection, but it doesn't negate the necessity of redundancy when it comes to protection.
There's a huge thread on this. Can't remember the title tho

I have a Zaggshield dry install never opened. It was a replacement from my original Zagg I took off when I had to give my s3 back to Sprint. Shoot me a PM if your interested...

I honestly love my screen to be naked. I just take extremely good care of my phone. The scratches on my screen are very minimal. They are small from sand in my pocket and such. Never dropped the phone since I got it about 6 months ago.
Phone always has a dedicated pocket and I don't put anything else in there. I occasionally use a case, but not too often, though when I use my ZeroLemon 7000mah the case is of course on. Still no Screen Protector. Nothing beats the feel of glass.

I use a glass screen protector. It was 30 bucks, but it looks and feels like its naked. Worth it imo.

What brand is it? I tried one a while ago and it made the screen not recognize half of my touches, do you have any issues like that with yours?
I had one of the glass screen protectors and loved it but I broke it. You can get them on eBay for less than $10 now and they are well worth it. I repair phones and happened to have a replacement glass for a s3 and put it on top of the my phone and everything worked except the proximity sensor. I think because of the protective film. I ordered another replacement glass ($6) and I am going to try to use it as a screen protector. Just have to figure out how to get it to stick.

It's a Holy Grail from Sir Lancelot's Armor. It registers everything exactly as it would naked, it's just a couple of millimeters thicker.

I personally use a Zagg Invisishield, but plan to buy a Sir Lancelots Holy Grail soon. I use them just because I prefer not to have a scratched screen. I have seen many S3's just covered in scratches. Granted, they were owned by people who were prone to dropping their phone, but it does happen. The S3 screen is scratch resistant and tempered, but that still means it can scratch and break.
I've had a screen protector on my s3 since the first day I got it. Just a week ago, I got pretty much fed up with the screen protectors always scratching and getting really oily. Took it off and omg the screen is so smooth. So far my screen has no scratches.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Despite what they say about Gorilla Glass, its still possible to scratch it! Have some bad experience of it myself.
I've been using the same skin from xoskins.com for my s3 since the release day. No scratches, no orange peel look to it, no curling edges. Love it. Gorilla glass might be tough but scratches can happen, and this skin prevents it.
I use screen protector cuz i honestly feel like it helps support the glass from shattering

Like a car windshield... except for your phone
My idea of using a replacement glass as a screen protector worked! Just used adhesive strips to secure the glass to the phone and everything works like it should. Now my amber brown s3 is pebble blue.
