me too... i found partial solution for that... go in keyboard settings, tap English (download suggestions if needed), set up no autocomplete and no cap. first letter. it works...

I saw your post in wp8 forum and it worked but is very annoying writing everything in lower case. As I understand this is a problem in windows. Am I right?

I found this happen. The solution for me was to go to settings > network+ > SMS character set > Full.
When it was set to 'reduced' it only allowed for the 70 character messaging limit.
I have a Nokia Lumia 820, but I hope the setting is there for you too.

You are using a non ASCII character or character set. To avoid it use standard characters from a to z and numbers and use a reduced character set from settings

Disable predictive typing: Menu - Settings - Keyboard - click on English (or any other that you use) and untick the "Suggest text" option. For me it worked (Telekom Slovakia - HTC 8S).

Try to restart your phone, maybe it needs to clean some caches.

I have 8s branded by orange slovakia and there is no sms character set setting. It only allows 160 chars if it's connected on fb.

Open menu, go to Settings - Keyboard - click on the keyboard you use (in best case use English U.S. keyboard) and disable (untick) "Suggest text". Then reboot your phone. Worked well on the same device, but from Telekom Slovakia .

I don't use text suggestion. But i tried enable and disable it and that does not work too.

When I using suggestions my sms can use only 70 text and then begin next one.
Normally should be 160 characters? Right?

Sms special characters

Hy folks, I used to have an option in sms settings to change special characters(ş, ţ, î) to normal ones to reduce the cost of the sms... The problem is I flashed a new stock firmware (a UK one) and that option is gone. How can I get it back? Is there any app that could help?

It costs more to use them?
And do you have an option if you go to settings>keyboard>keyboard language>english or whatever
Or is that the option you don't have?

It costs more becouse with special characters i can send only 60 characters in an sms. And if I put the keyboard in English I can't use swipe and predictions in my language(romanian)...

Google Now Commands
Google Now works with network (and GPS) on all the time. To activate, long press home button and 'G' point (the middle button), use menu and parameter, here you can active google now. You must also activate Search history in your google account or google now parameter.
After you activate google now, on parameter you have new entry for what to use.
Google now is a sort of assistant, he can show you the wheater based on your location, the next appointment based on the calendar, the next show, based on your internet search, and so on.
But there is no widget, so it's as useful as it's intend to be.
When i want to send email,,nothing,,google now just open google search with text ..send email etc...So how to send emails with voice?
Tnx
In fact for me works only google search with voice and weather card.

Just curious, do you have a Sprint Airave or Airvana in your home?
Do you have Handcent or any custom messaging app? Also does the split messages have more than 160 characters?

You can only send a maximum of 160 characters in each text. If it has one character more, it will not send. Go to the settings of your messaging app and see if you can make it send a max of 160 characters in each text.

This is so not true. You can send more than 160 characters. The phone will split it up for you in however many pieces it needs to and there's no setting for it, its done automatically. I text more than 160 characters all the time. My phone always sends and its a feature that I've experienced on many phones for years now, way before Android. So to OP something is definitely wrong with your phone.

Here's an example
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
This is something that towers handle. Some towers on the CDMA network handle >160 character SMS messages. Some do not and require the text messaging application to split messages >160 into multiple smaller messages.
It sounds like the messaging app isn't working for you. I would backup /system/app/MMS.apk somewhere and push a new one (Perhaps a CM based one) to /system/app.
Thanks

Smh, you just contradicted yourself. The towers will not accept a text with more than 160 characters in it. Obviously, it will be separated but the OP said he had more than 160 characters in each text.
For the OP, get handcent or some other messaging app. Go into the settings and there will be an option that tells you how many characters per text before it splits up. Mess with that to make it work.

[Q] Offline Speech Recognition

Hi all,
Is there any way of setting up offline speech recognition on the One V? I am using Pacman, and the option to download the pack is not on Google Now's menu as it should be.
There's no need to "download" the voice recognition pack. You just need jellybean, voila! You have offline voice recognition. Just tap the mic button on the keyboard and you are good to go...

App to auto insert email address or password

Is there an app that will insert one's email address into a field? I used to have a Cydia app on my iPhone that was named "Double At". If you hit @@, it would insert your email address.
If there is no app to do this, is there some way to add typing shortcuts ( "brb" for "be right back") that will allow an easier way to insert long strings of characters? I went into the settings for the LG keyboard but i didn't see anything that allows shortcuts.
Under Languages & Input there is Personal Dictionary that will allow you to add words and create a shortcut. But, I just tryed with be right back[brb] and it wouldn't allow me to save it... because of the Space.
However, I haven't used shortcuts and I'm not quite sure how it works...

Are you saying that there is a separate shortcuts screen that is different than the one in the dictionary?

Same here... maybe once bootloader unblocked, devs would be able to tweak that and make it more functional.

No. Az I type I get the word suggestions and pick from the list if I want. Now I saved the "brb" to give me berightback [no spaces] but it doesn't. I get it as a suggestion once I type "ber"... that's weird... I thought that saving words in the dictionary will override the learning or at least give the dic 1st priority... I guess not
