Long home press doesn't bring up open apps - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have a weird bug that comes and goes and can't figure out why or how to fix it. Long pressing home should bring up all open apps and let you get to task manager. Most the times it works, but every once in awhile it will completely stop working. A reset fixes it or if i just wait awhile it will come back.
Anyone else get this or know of a fix? Home button still works, just not the long press

I get this now and then. Only solution I've found is a reboot

This happens to me sometimes right after or during watching an online video through the browser, it doesn't work until the video player or the system UI force closes(takes around a minute)

Pressing messaging gives me another app?

I've seen this with Google Music. I've force stopped and cleared data but the problem randomly comes back and I dont know whats triggering it

For me, the best working solution is to press multitasking button and swipe away all the apps.

Thats what i did too
At first i tried to open my music, it opened my google voice instead :/ but thats the temporarily solution i suppose :/
This has not gone away. Even if I try to access messaging from the app drawer or recent app list it doesn't work. Hitting back cycles through other apps, does not help. The only way to access messaging is through the people app or through a notification.

Try rebooting it?
Like someone said, swipe away all the recent apps.

Dev options. Window, transitions, and animator scales to .5. And turn off double tap home button for svoice. Worked well for me
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Sorry misread.
If I helped or you like what I said thank me
The real way to fix the home button lag is to go into svoice and disable home button in the settings .......its 100% faster try it and see
try it all guys nothing works ive turn off svoice and all that to .5 still nothing.

I agree, there's still a delay when waking up the phone. It's not that bad.

Seems like it is a ROM issue.
If you install a N705 ROM (like this one), you won't have this problem.

Music cutting out

Hey guys. Just solved an issue with Pandora and not being able to create stations on the newest Pandora and being rooted. Now the only issue I'm having is my music being cut out whenever I open an app or really any button that isn't the main home button. It cuts out for like half a second. It's really annoying is anyone having or have had the same issue and any solutions? I thought it was just cyanogen mood but I've installed different roms and no go.

Are you on 4.2.2? Those roms are still a little buggy, so make sure you acknowledge that when you're using one
I had this issue using the BMS kernel. I switch to ktoonsez and it fixed the issue.

Check your IMEI
it just happened to me today too (although on a very stable aosp rom)
The power button could be stuck...
Just started happening to mine....
Time to flash back to stock and call the warranty in!
Your CPU speed might be too high.
I haven't overclocked, My power button isn't stuck, and what would the IMEI have to do with it?

So I dont know if you are rooted or not, but regardless of, I have had bad luck with the touchwiz luncher. Why do I think it is touchwiz launcher??? Everytime I install a new ROM based off stock ROM my phone starts rebooting like crazy. I would said try a different launcher. I use Nova launcher, but Apex launcher seems to be the same thing. Try to unistall or disable touchwiz too after you installed another launcher.

Play store bug?

Does anyone else have an issue when tapping on apps? When I tap on apps in the play store they often highlight and doesn't actually take me to info about the app. Like this
