[Q] Desire S-OFF ROOTED RunnyRom 6.1.1 screen orientation problems - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I already searched the forum for my problem, I didn't find it. I have rooted desire with S-OFF. The problem is that the screen orientation changing doesn't work for almost everything. I am sure that the sensor is functional because the landscape mode works only for the camera and youtube app Can anyone help please, I'ts really annoying... If not a solution, maybe some idea where is the problem coming from, some brainstorm session on this post...

Settings/display and check auto-rotate screen (if thats what u mean)

[Q] GEP zoom bug

Heya Guys,
been enjoying the desire HD for some weeks now, really loving it. has anyone come up with an solution for the GEP zoom bug?
temp solution is; type about:debug, goto settings, select enable GEP zoom.
this works, for the current session, if android calls proces.finished it's forgotten even though it stays checked in the settings.
i found this thread for desire, but it seems to be dedicated to some of the desire builds, or cyoagen mod. [APP-HACK][SENSE] No text reflow on pinch-to-zoom in browser
would love to have this fix for the desire HD without the need of root or S-off.

You probably will need root for it, but no s-off.

ok, missed my exam today cause of this bug. has anyone come up with a solution yet?
I have ported it for Desire Z, it might be compatible with HD as well, you can try after a full backup. If not, I can port it to HD when I have time.

OK, I ported it to Desire HD as well, try and let me know. I tried it with a Desire HD build on my HD2, hope it works

Isn't there a fix for multi-touch axis flipping

Now Google maps 5 is out and rotation dosent work, I was wondering about it and remembered that a website had said a member of cyanogen had fixed the axis flipping on the nexus I don't know if this was true, any idea ???

I seem to also remember something about this...?
Jesus, Google says that his beloved N1 doesn't support it and you want a fix. Here+s a fix : sell the Desire and get a phone with the full multitouch capable panel.
A colleague of mine has a Desire with a rooted ROM (a Sense 2 one) and the rotation works.
So yes, there is a fix.
I hope that HTC will officially release a (Sense 2) upgrade for the Desire, and that will contain the fix, I don't feel like rooting.
O rly.
FYI Sense 2 is the version that shipped with Desire. If you mean the newer Sense, that's on the Desire HD, that's Sense 3.
Which ROM is that again ? And please let him install http://www.appbrain.com/app/multitouch-visualizer-2/org.metalev.multitouch.visualizer2 and make a vid of the "fix".

Maybe Google maps thinks the phone supports multitouch as its a dhd rom and activates the option to use rotate. Rotate should still work...but because of the dual touch 'bug' it will get it wrong some of the time.
Yeah, I remember reading about a fix included in the core, but it was disabled. How would I enable it?
Can't we get the apk which is getting installed on the DHD?
I've read about this after some issues with Nova, which I guess is why it isn't supported anyway. The screen itself is not multi-touch and is apparently dubbed "double-touch" and the axis switching is hardware related, however there is a setting buried somewhere in the Android SDK that was designed to only be enabled for a certain device. Enabling it on the Desire, however, was supposed to alleviate some of the issues with axis-switching, although not a total fix. It was mentioned that CM had this setting enabled on their ROMs for Desire, but whether that is still the case I cannot say. This is just from memory, I'll have to do a bit more digging to refresh my memory.
EDIT: Asked around on the CM IRC and that particular 'feature' was indeed pulled, however was reinstated a few days ago, so probably only on the nightlies for the moment.
EDIT 2: Flashed a CM nightly and it doesn't appear to have made matters any better
Yes the multitouch is indeed enabled in maps on dhd roms, but the problem is not fixed. You can easily see, when your cross the axis with your fingers, and it definately still doesn't work well.
Yes, this issue is very irritating when playing games like SliceIt as well.
The touchscreen hardware is only capable of determining the rectanlge containing the 2 touched points.
If the desire screen is capable of detecting two fingers as long as they don't cross on the y and x axis, two finger rotation should be more than possible on google maps just as long as you keep the rotation no larger that 90 degrees between the y and x axis and even then it should only cause a "hickup" in the rotation so although it won't be great, if active, it should be ok for use!
The two touches is not what bothers me it is the axis flipping that's annoying I will try to flash a nightly and will see what happens.

In nexus one development section.
Desire is the source of all suffering.
Has anyone found a fix for multitouch on the desire yet?
i found a link(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767654&page=4) to another post on fixing multitouch on an acer liquid sharing drivers for developers, so can people please take a look and see if something can be done for the desire?
thanks in advance
Have you read the lasts posts in the thread you quote ?

Accelerometer thingy Wont work.

So, hello there XDA, I'm Moon and that Topic Title isn't very informative i know.
But yes, Let me get this straight. I got an Used DHD running CM10.1 until last night on a lan after recording two hours 720p Video with flash i when i wanted to show a friend a youtube video noticed my auto rotation not working,
And well. i thought it was off? so i dont know for how long it didn't work, so after a huge hangover and a long day sleep i tried to Reflash cm10.1 versions without Luck, neither JB Miui roms. though sense gb and ics sense roms do work just fine? I didn't get an solution so right now i run Blackouts rom with sense 3,6 based of 4.0.4, but for sure i know having the accelerometer working on cm10 sometime. Would anybody tell me (if they know) how to fix this?
I'd be super thankful.

Dot view case Problems on roms

Hi all,
I have successfully managed to root and s-off a UK sim free HTC M8, however since then the dot view case does not function properly. On insertcoin I have noticed the dot view only works on the double tap motion gesture, all the other motion gestures do not seem to work. I can only speak for this rom which is my favourite, has anyone experienced this
My question is. Is this a problem on all roms or is it the device or something else that I can fix maybe?

Personally I can not say whether it is S-off or not because I am not lucky enough to have the S-off at this stage....but I think it may be ROM issue. I am currently using the Viper ROM, and have no issue at all the with the dot view case and all the motion gestures :good: (I cant comment on insert coin because I have not try them.....but at this stage I am super happy and always love the ViperROM..:good

Me too I used to love Viper and it was my daily driver on all my devices from the HTC desire. I might switch over if I cant find a solution I love my dot view.
I've flashed Viper rom it works same as Insertcoin but the swipe down gesture that activates the voice activated calls does not work on insertcoin or viper, can anyone shed any light on this??

I think it's the s-off issue. I have HTC One m8 GPE and converted to Sense using ViperOne ROM. The case does not work except for double tap.

Case auto screen lock unlock

Hi. Everyone I'm a newbie to this forum. Although I've flashed Many other HTCs in the past.
Sorry if this seems trivial
I have flashed my HTC m8 to the latest venom image as I liked the look of it. However now my new case that on the stock Rom would turn the screen on when opens and off when closed. No longer works. Can anyone tell me a fix please.
Thank you in advance
