I have this question, in ICS when i install the facebook app, its ask me to sync my contacts in with facebook (the existing, i mean the contacts in my phone to update with fb photo, info, etc) but in jellybean i cant, i see the account there, i turned on the sync option, but it doesnt do anything.
Someone know what to do?
The functionality has been deliberately disabled by Facebook. There was something of a controversy about it back when it happened. So, yeah. Not happening anymore.

Contact sync for facebook in the play store. Try that out.

I use Friendcaster and it syncs the contacts pretty well. I started using it when Facebook upgraded to 2.0 and kept having network errors. The contact sync was just a plus.

Hey guys,
Is anyone else experiencing Facebook status updates not automatically updating within the People app?
I'm displaying my Google Contacts but have linked the contacts with their FB profile within the app. It shows a status update they've made but doesnt update anymore to their latest status.
This seems to have only cropped up since I did a factory reset on the HOX.
I've gone through Accounts & Sync & manually sync'd but no change.
Trivial issue I know, but just wanted to know if anyone else experiencing the same?

Yes. I have the same setup as you it seems. Just done a hard reset due to other reasons and tried from the stock FB app and then via the latest FB app with no luck - some feeds/updates are not updating,
I'm experiencing a lot of frustration with FB and syncing. The sync works ok after some manual linking and I receive updated photo's for most of my contacts however, what I don't like is, if you have any of the two sync options selected when you create the FB sync account ('sync all' or sync with existing contacts') then ALL your facebook contacts appear in your phone list/dialler and messages drop down, regardless if you have FB shown as an active/viewable account under 'People' or not. The only way to get rid of this it seems is to delete the FB app or use a Android dialler (which has the ability to filter which accounts/contacts you can see) instead of the HTC dialler.
To me this isetup is frustrating and I cannot seem to find a simple workaround. Someone did mention on another forum to uninstall the FB app, clear the app data/cache then reinstall the app selecting 'don't sync' and then use a third party app to get the photos, such as SyncMyPix however this obviously won't sync the updates/feeds that some people like.
For the time being I am not going to be syncing FB contacts until I find a workaround.

Appreciate you can get alternative 3rd party apps however this shouldn't be required. The Facebook/Google integration needs to be a lot sleeker so there isn't a need to download and use additional apps...
It used to be a lot sleeker but I think google & facebook had an argument over data rights and google just stopped syncing data with facebook.
For whatever reason the photos from facebook are not syncing with my contacts. Prior to upgrading to ICS it was working fine through Samsung Social Hub. Now no one in my phone has a photo next to them.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have sync'd all through the facebook app and there's now no option to sync contacts through social hub app. Any help is appreciated.

Im having the same issue
I used to do it through the Social Hub, and when i'd actually install the official facebook app, I'd select "Don't sync contacts" b/c Social Hub did it fine, and the facebook app would always distort the pics a little bit
but now I had this problem like you do
I tried to sync through the facebook app itself, but that doesn't seem to be working either oddly enough
somehow both have stopped working

I had this problem with stock ICS but I flashed darkside today and it seems to be resolved.
mjg688 - which darkside ROM did you flash?
try ds3 v1
I have the latest darkside ics and syncs just fine after installing FB cleanly and turning on the sync as well

To fix this:delete facebook accounts from phone and restart, then re add account. Worked great for me

Not sure if this is ROM related, OS related, App related or otherwise, but my twitter contacts are not syncing to the phone and people app.
I used to see twitter contacts with their own card in the people app that I could connect/join to their google/facebook etc entry and get them all available in one entry.
For full infos sake I'm using BugglessBeast 4.1.1, and have the latest twitter app installed but just want to get a consensus and see if how its working for everyone else.
A) Anyone know what I'm talking about?
B) Anyone used to see this and doesnt on Jelly bean?
C) Anyone know how to fix it if possible?

I noticed that in Accounts and Sync, where there used to be a box for contact sync, the only thing there is "sync twitter" was that always the case? anyone have an old twitter version i can test against?

Yeah, after looking around this afternoon, I realized that since it wasnt working, they simply took it out isntead of fixing it.
So now I'm wondering if theres an app out there that will sync my twitter contacts to the people app with statuses similar to how HAXSYNC does.

what i like in TW contacts apk is that i could link the contacts from gmail/yahoo/facebook and other to one single contact.
how can we do this in the cm10/10.1 contacts apk? or we should use other contacts/massaging app?

You should be able to press and hold on a contact and link/join them

it doesnt sync any contact from fb, thats the problem, in ics detect the contacts and join them without any problem
I googled this some time ago too.
If I remember rightly, this is caused by the fb-app which does not support syncing in JB.

Facebook was working like crap on my phone, so I went back to Friendcaster and it syncs just fine with my contacts on CM10.1.
My Facebook events speed syncing with the stock calendar and I cannot figure out how to get it back. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and checked all the settings is anyone else having this issue? What am I missing?
If you haven't already try going to settings and under accounts and sync make sure Facebook is checked along with calendar with Facebook.

When I go to the sync option in the Facebook account settings it only had an option for contacts and says last synced date and time.
Then you can't sync calendar if its not an option. Has it ever worked before?

It did, it was great. Everything showed up on the widget too.
Maybe its an app issue with a recent update. Maybe the devs for the app can help you. [email protected]
Are you on a tablet ROM? For whatever reason, when I ran a multi dpi ROM in tablet mode, the FB didn't sync my calendar. There was no option for it. I didn't run the ROM all that long, never found a solution.
