I need a stable Rom - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey, i tried out JellyBam and i keep getting weird things like internet connection problems and sometimes it will go into safe mode. Can someone tell me which roms will be good for a daily driver with the least amounts of bugs?

The People's Rom....good day

Every single ROM for this phone is great one way or another.

I personally got freegs3.... Love the stock look and very stable.

I love using Team Sonic-FreeGS3. I started using them from their JBv1 and currently on v3. I have yet to have any major issues with it.

I'll second that for TPR. You can't go wrong with TPR and Morpholgy! Sooo many options!!!!

Well it depends, most roms will be fine if they are <= the version of the current Samsung release, but if they are higher, than you can expect things like 4G and some other misc things not working because these things have to be built from source and its harder to get working when there is no foundation to work off of. Just a general tip for any Android phone
Sent from my PG06100

ROMs are very personal preference oriented. I could tell you that FreeGS3 is awesome, but you could find things that you don't like about it.
Everyone has their own preference.
The idea is to either find the one that you like JUST ABOUT everything in and everything that YOU do works in it and stick with it or eventually just make your own. I'm going to guess that you're not quite that informed on the topic of cooking ROMs. Don't take that the wrong way, I'm not saying you're incompetent in any way, just drawing the conclusion that if you were attuned to it, you'd probably not be asking here and already be making it the way you like Besides, it's no easy feat, I know.
So, instead of taking someone else's word... I would suggest simply getting a good Titanium Backup of your stuff and start swapping out ROMs here and there and just trying them out for a day or two, see how it works out.
If it's not quite what you want, just try another one.
Now if you care for my opinion, personally, I've found that FreeGS3 works for me because it has a nice mix of the Stock Look and Feel with all the extra added feature sets.

I recommend team shotgun! The best rom it has all the Google apps stocked!

Above is the link to the 7100 ROM it looks amazing.... What does it take to make this flash-able onto our T Mobile devices... If it doesn't include a radio couldn't we just flash it? I am too scared to flash and try...its less scary to post a new thread ask you to try...haha. If a devo could shed some light or a brave soul could "test" it that would be great.

You can flash it. If you want to lose your radio. Unfortunately even if the 7100 rom does not include radio we have significant differences in our hardware that causes the radio not to work. Most likely something in the ril or kernel I believe (I could be wrong about the reasons). We dont have an AOSP kernel for the 7105 or tmo version.
Thank you sir... man, I really want that ROM. Was using XquiziT's ROM but the was having a couple problems with it and now the future for it looks bleak. (What I liked so much was the AOSP parts added in) Going to give Saurom a go now I guess.

I am TRUSTING you!!! Don't let me down.... LOL (Ref: "..but we will catch up..")
we need some devs solely working on what needs to be done for porting from one device to another. the fact that the ROM even functions on our device without modification should be a decent indicator of how close we are.
look in the US SGS3 section, 4 variants all with small differences and porting roms between those 4 is a piece of cake.
if someone could make a stand alone CWM.zip that we flash after a N7100 ROM that gave us back the radio it would be perfect. then we could just run any N7100 rom we wanted, no porting needed.

well as much as i love the note 2 if we don't get any aosp love soon ill probably swap devices with my wife. at least her sg3 has cm10/aokp. again not complaining, i just hope development picks up. i was thinking about getting a nexus 4 to tide me over but i hate lg. if anything i still hope the note 2 see's android 4.2.
I am curious. I have had CM/AOKP for years with my other phones. With this one seems a lot of the features I really love are here. What do you feel is missing from TW that AOKP/CM gives you. I am not a fan of TW colors but overall it is good (and I xan theme colors away). Only thing I really miss from AOKP is the wigets popup from nav bar.
Aosp is lighter and for me runs better.

I would agree on most older phones....this one I have not had any slowdowns. ....that I did not cause (changing files in system causes FCs sometimes lol)
Im not saying options are bad or that I would not flash AOSP but just wondering why people feel they need it.

Personally I really look forward to having a ROM with mass storage support. Since Google removed it from Android, I am no longer able to connect my phone to Linux for easy transfer of files and have to use all kinds of alternatives.
Not sure it can't be done on a TW based ROM, but CM/AOKP ROMs seem to more commonly introduce it like the one mentioned in this thread.

I second the motion for USB mass storage functions. Maybe wi-fi direct or other technology will supersede it, but it would be nice to have the capabilities meantime.

This I can understand I really wish google made ums/mass storage an option. I understand why they went with ums but options are always nice.
Reasons why I think they went UMS
1) ability to keep sdcard mounted while connected to computer
2) ability to mount /sdcard on /data/media making the internal sdcard the same as the internal data memory
3) most people people use windows
4) the option to turn it on/off may confise some people.
The only one I disagree with is number 4. Stupidd people will find a way to be stupid no matter how much you coddle them.

[Q] Yet another what's the best rom thread: ICS and stable?

Greetings everyone,
I would like to start off by apologizing for bothering you folks with yet another "what's the best ROM for having X and doing Y" thread, although I felt that after searching I had a rather specific criteria, which I'm hoping someone may be able to address.
I have been using Virtuous Affinity for awhile now, and frankly I'm starting to feel old It seems like ICS has been out forever while I'm still on gingerbread. I am a little unclear on what the official status is of ICS support though; I thought I remembered hearing some talk about HTC potentially having an ICS based update in the works, although past that I know nothing. Browsing around, I'm a little discouraged by some of the known issues ICS roms may have; no camera support, broken audio/bluetooth, things like that.
What I would optimally like to have is a fully functioning ICS ROM. Stable, good performance, nice on the battery, etc. etc. UI wise, I have become accustomed to HTC's Sense UI, but even then I'm very foggy on what the differences are between their major versions (I've been hearing of 2.0 and 3.0). To be honest though, I wouldn't mind trying a new UI. I've liked the one Samsung puts on their Galaxy SIII.
Above all, stability is my goal. I'm not too comfortable with the trailblazing "nightly" builds and testing ROMs; having a working phone is pretty important to me. Now you might say, "Well, why even root to begin with?" Okay, I like to experiment a little bit
But I digress. What is there in the wonderful and magical world of ROMs?
P.S. I think it would be really useful if there was a sticky going something like "State of the ROM", which pulls together a list of ROMs and highlights their features and issues in an easy to compare manner (so a step up from the currently stickied ROM compilation thread)
Right now chillybean's paranoidPAC
And preludedrew's Evervolv I can recommend
Viper and MIUI are both ICS and have everything working so far

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I suppose I might want to give Evervolv a shot (Wifi is fixed I hope?) although I'm a little unclear about installing it. Most OPs post a tutorial for flashing ROMs, and while I would feel a little more comfortable flashing Evervolv on my own, it seems like there a new hoops you have to jump through for flashing ICS/JB roms. Could anyone guide me through the steps?
If you are rooted and have installed a custom recovery, go ahead and download the ROM of your choice, then install it from the recovery using install zip from SD card, then install the correct Google apps whether 4.2 gapps or 4.1 gapps
After that you restart and wait for the room to boot.
I highly recommend installing crossbreeder after the first boot, and then you are done!!!

Why would you start by apologizing. You are acknowledging that this is redundant. Read the threads that are already there. You aren't asking anything new. And even if you were, you could ask in an existing thread. And if the rom doesn't give specific instructions it means you flash it the same way as any other. Read the op in the thread for each rom and try usually state what works and doesn't.

I'm not trying to be a butt head. I'm still learning too. But if you already know the question has been asked (and answered) multiple times... Read the answers that are there.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
I think you might be misunderstanding my OP... Yes, I am aware that the general form of the question has been asked, although I wanted to see how the community felt about the priorities I put forth in looking for a ROM (hence why I later suggested that a sticky stacking the ROMs against each other with their features and flops would be useful). I realize now that a lot of the ICS roms don't exactly meet what I was looking for anyways, and that I would have to take some relatively larger risks. Alas, I am going forth with trying one of the suggested ones.
And I believe asking in another thread would be considered hijacking by most forums? I see it's not explicitly mentioned in the rules, although I would expect people to keep questions to their own threads as a matter of courtesy.
I sometimes forget people can't hear the tone my tone of voice when I type. I meant laying down the law in a good way.
To the OP. Perhaps you would like to work on your suggested project of comparing the roms and once then we can all add our input to your list?

I didn't take it negatively. And your suggestion is spot on with what I was about to reply. Something my pastor says when people come to him with new ministry ideas, "that sounds great, I'm putting you in charge of that committee." Usually people want stuff done but want someone else to do it.
People don't generally make those threads because like this one they get redundant. The features are listed in the rom thread. Questions pertaining to the rom are asked in that thread. If someone wants to make a thread like you suggest that's fine, but what happens is someone comes in and instead of reading the rom thread they start asking questions in the new thread that have been answered already and the op constantly has to refer people to go read that thread.

SG3 Rookie...help me piece together a ROM

Was only on stock for less than a day, rooted, installed a couple renditions of goodness and a random other and just haven't found what I want to be my daily. I've been on goodness 9.0.4 for quite some time but the headaches I've experienced just aren't what I'm used to. Before anyone asks, I always fully wipe phone sometimes twice before I sample. Did the same in my HTC Evo days. Which brings up were I'm going with this. On my original Evo I ran swagged out stock.....beautiful, and my Evo LTE, worse phone I've ever paid $200 for, I ran MeanBean...another great ROM to my suiting. For anyone unfamiliar with those 2 they are mostly stock ROMs with just the right amount of extras, custom boot animation, maybe a slightly tweaked drop down menu with a couple popular apps or settings added, the must have Super User and WiFi Tethering, and one of my favorites the ability to reboot into recovery from the power off menu, not sure what that's called but its priceless. So I begin by offering up my willingness to try other ROMs out there based on suggestions you, the experienced, throw out. But I can't help but wonder if all I really need is stock with a few extras. That's where I'm lost, I couldn't find a gs3 mod that would work for me and stopped before I broke something. Open for suggestions, and appreciate everyone's time. As well I am greatfull for all the hard work that the details s have put into the Roms I've tried, your incredibly talented people and your time and knowledge are above and beyond.

Any AOSP ROM you have to flash the Sprint vvm if you want it separately, or use Google Voice.
Edit: Clean bean is not AOSP but you can still load the Sprint vvm apk on any ROM that does not have it. I always keep the most updated version on my external card for any AOSP ROM that I flash. Try one of the ROMs I posted earlier in the thread.

*WORKING group text messaging!!!!!!!!!

Tweaked FTW!! Definitely worth a peak.

one other thing i might add to why i like tweaked over Jedi, low battery notification disable. this is especially usefull when you have a 9300mah ZeroLemon battery, where you can stay at 5% for 8 hours..that beep and nag starting at 15% can lasts for hours on end!!
Yes, go tweaked. The dev is an actual Dev, not just someone who dumps a bunch of random mods on the rom. He actually knows what he is doing. Try it out!

Hey guys, Tweaked is the truth abs by far the best ROM for our phones, but be careful. Some especially this last post are coming off pretty disrespectful to our devs. pmtr3 does some amazing work and a lot of original work. Just don't want this to stay making devs want to quit supporting a community because they feel like it's disrespectful.
By the way xamindar, give it a shot just "dumping random mods" and let me know how stable that turns out. A lot of work goes into even the "basic" ROMs.

If i sounded like i was being disrespectful, I apologize. No way did i mean it to come off that way. I appreciate what YOU Developers do for us. I know i cant do what you guys do. Jedi/pmtr3 roms and kernals are great thats why i use it as a reference standard to compare to.
I should have chose my words better since i didnt think that it would offend someone else. sorry
Tweaked is the business. The dev is super mature, very amazing attitude and personality and his work matches these qualities, bar none. It's also a joy to see a community very, very active. It means that this ROM gets a lot of dialogue in its thread, which leads to great ideas, trials, progress and advancement. I came from another ROM that just went stale. No dialogue. And I've tried other ROMs on XDA which are pretty ingenious and brilliant, but the smoothness of Tweaked, the vision it projects and employs and support it has is amazing. And nothing ever feels broken. More and more conversations are about progression than fixing something that's legitimately broken in the ROM. The Dev is also extremely approachable....if you have ideas, just Private Message (the preferred method) the Dev and you'll see how engaging he becomes. Very, very professional feel to this community. Check it out.

You didn't offend me and I'm no Dev. I'm just trying to learn. My comment was more directed at the other guy who came off very disrespectful (whether meant or not). I don't want people like pmtr3 or the other real devs to get offended. I mean tweaked is the best, but you can never have to many options.

To me, Tweaked is the best fit for my tastes. It's rock solid, and like others have already said here, Dwitherell is amazing and his OCD leads to a very polished final product for us to enjoy. the degree of customization you have is
Unparalleled. Not only options you set when you flash, but also through TSM parts. The initial Lure for me was the ability to hide that damn annoying persistent notification for Smart stay and blocking mode... Etc.
I could go on and on... But really... Flashing is easy and fun... I recommend trying as many as you want and decide for yourself.
Plus... Tweaked had something no other ROM does.... ALEXIA!

Well said. Jedi ROMS are awesome as well. Ptmr3 is one hell of a nice guy as well. I'm grateful for all of our devs here, but those two gentlemen are awesome dudes.

WHAO dude. No need to get offended as I was not directing that towards anyone. I don't think it is very nice of you to throw out other devs names as of trying to defend them for something that wasn't meant towards them either. This can make them look bad.
And your second paragraph is what I am talking about. People who throw random mods together and call it a new rom usually end up creating something very unstable. Point is, tweaked is NOT this.

Again, I'm not offended I just didn't want it to go there of insulting the hard work or devs do. I may have took your quote wrong as saying that's what the other devs do. So I was just thinking of the biggest ROM and dev we had and said that's not what he does. So for the misunderstanding I'm sorry.
All our devs do great work, but I do agree dwitherell is on another level! He originates mods and has been since the DROID charge!

Most stable ROM for long term?

I have CR ATT SE 3.0 and it really has quite a few annoying issues. I'd like to switch ROMs. I don't care if it's AOSP or modified stock ROM. I just want it to be relatively bug free and good for at least a couple months without having to do another big ROM switch.
Also if it's AOSP someone will have to bring me up to speed on how to get over to it from stock 4.1.2. I don't think it's just a simple wipe and flash.

If you're on Clean Rom then you might want to stick to a TW based Rom. You can just move to the most recent Clean Romthat's out..
That way you shouldn't run into any issues with it.
But there are also a lot of good AOSP Rom out there if you really have to install one. Just check the one stop shop for your Rom needs!!
Edit: just noticed the title of your thread. I'm using Skynote which is great for long term use.. haven't flashed anything else since

I don't think the one stop shop has been updated in months. If it has, whoever is editing it is doing a bad job.

FYI, it's me that's doing the updating. And it's time consuming and I do have a life, family, work, outside of XDA!!
THANX for the compliment, since I was just trying to help out.. WOW
And there's always Google SEARCH TO find most things your looking for.. type in what your looking for, hit enter button done!!

Well it's not like I'm just trying to be a ****... but it doesn't really have a lot of info on it. You have some really old ROMs still on there and some relatively new ROMs not on there.
Someone is trying to help you on a thread that will be closed anyway and your getting mad? Read the different threads of roms that interest you, or at least the last couple of pages to see what issues people are having. What you may think is a bug, someone else may never have a problem. And it's not difficult to try a rom and see if you like it. Hope this helps before the thread is closed.

If you'd quit stuffing your fat face with bacon and Heinekeins, you would have more time to take care of un-appriciative people on XDA...
