Leather case on ebay - Galaxy Note 10.1 Accessories

Has anyone got this case on ebay? Just asking because I might get it and a bit worried about it staying closed say when I drop it?

I'm using this case on my Note 10.1, in fact I've used IVSO cases on my previous tabs also.
My OG Tab 7 was knocked off tables, couches, etc onto laminate floor/tiled flooring a few times, the only time it came out of the case was when it was knocked out of my hands as I was actually using it. Luckily, landed on a carpeted floor.
In these IVSO case's it is pretty safe from knocks or drops.

Better off getting a case that has a fastener on it or a clip than a magnet one, after viewing the online manual for the 10.1 it clearly says stay away from magnets.
I never use mine while in the case, not only does it attract dust it also has poorer reception with the s pen.
Going to get a better one when find a case without a magnet

The "Official" case uses magnets Why would they say that then sell one with? Then again, it is Samsung

Budget metal bumper

I'm on a REALLY tight budget, and I've found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminum-Bu...VG/ref=sr_1_67?ie=UTF8&qid=1352551327&sr=8-67
Has somebody tried it before? Do the cover-buttons have a good response (is much more force needed to make them "click")? Any suggestions?
while it might provide a unique look to your phone, i'm not sure how much 'protection' a metal bumper will give.
once that aluminum meets concrete, it'll scratch/dent and it wont look as pretty.
I had an Element Case Vapor AR15-V when it was released for the iP4. I loved the look but it killed my reception..
I don't think/know if the S3 would fall victim to such an issue..

The aesthetic side of it is of no importance for me. On the reception issue, it was reportedly due to the antenna being linked to a section of the metal frame the iPhones had, so no problem here regarding the S3 i pressume.

Edit: I've seen these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Urban-Armor...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352595740&sr=1-3) around, and although they seem quite nice, they surpass my budget right now. Any cheaper version of sorts? I think composite could do the trick just as fine.
Does anybody know something similar to the Urban Armor Gear (cheaper and less fancy) that could be of use?
i've always wondered if those slide on thing in the front actually stays on properly or not... I kinda prefer to have the screw on type... i think it's kinda cool.. the only thing I worry about is I don't know if the camera lens would get scratched when i place it on the back.

Finally received my case for my Note 10.1 :)

Hey everyone, so I finally received a case that I ordered (from DX.com) for my Note 10.1. It took about 2 weeks to get it and that's actually faster than I expected. So yea, I don't really like buying cases for like $30+, so I just searched on DX and found 2 cases that looked decent (to me). Came out to $21, I believe. Anyways, here are some pictures of one of them!
http://imgur.com/a/KTnqz#0
Like I said, I got another case, but it's just a soft TPU case. There's nothing really special about it
Here are the links to the cases I got if anyone is interested:
Protective PC + Fiber Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 - Black
Protective TPU Soft Back Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 - Black
look nice is it good with fiber case
i have tried 3 times now to order from dx but out of stock everytime

Is it a good case? Also, is it slim? I'm using the Poetic right now, but it's kind of.. bulky. I like it somewhat, but now I can't see how pretty my white Samsung is.. :/

Yep, it's very slim. I'll take some pictures of its profile tomorrow and upload them.
Well, it deemed pretty difficult taking pictures with the lighting that I had, so I decided to whip out the good ol' ruler. So the Note 10.1 itself seems to be about 0.9cm. With the case and the cover covering the screen, it's about 1.3cm. Without the cover covering the case, it's about 1.1cm. So yea, all in all, it adds a little less than 0.5cm.
This case looks nice and clean but one big question. Do the cover stay close? and if it does by what means. By looking at the photos it seems that it doesn't stay close and it just flaps over.

So far, I haven't had any issues. From what I've heard, the official Samsung case for the Note 10.1 uses magnets as well, so I don't think they'd use magnets if there were serious negative effects.

I ordered one of these and it just arrived today. For $14 it's ok. I don't know what it's made out of but it kind of stinks, hopefully that goes away. For $14 it's an ok case. It's not as nice as the Moko case I had for my Nexus 7 though, which was only about $10 more. Anyway, thanks to the OP for brining the case to my attention, it will server me well for now.

Thin Cover Like iPad

Looking for some help. I've looked in many many places but haven't found a cover like the magnetic cover iPad users have. Is there such a cover for the Note 10.1? Looking for the thinnest cover I can find.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The thinnest cover will still be thicker than the iPad because we don't have the magnetic hinge that would allow only the front cover..
The Samsung cover is remarkably thin, but doesn't stay closed.
There are several trifold covers that have a back that then clips onto the corners of the table with a cut out for the pen., several ship from Hong Kong. Some on eBay, some on Amazon.com the stock is constantly changing.
I ended up getting one that is advertised ads unless thin by mistake. It uses an adhesive to stick to the back of the pad. I really DON'T like that. It also makes removing the pen difficult. Plus it doesn't have a slot to charge the tab without opening the cover. I had to cut one.
It has a fold over flap so that it doesn't open accidentally, but the cover is very floppy. I've only been using it a few weeks, but it just doesn't feel that solid.
In the end I'll probably go with a knockoff Samsung if I can find one that stays closed.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
Agree with the above...the thinnest and sexiest is probably the Samsung magnetic book cover. I wasn't fond of it at first, but I've been using it over my i-Blason lately (which is also very nice but is no where near as thin). Lack of magnet to hold cover closed is really not an issue for me. If I am holding it it stays shut.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Guess I'll go for the Samsung cover .. hope it stays closed.
If you're going to buy a magnetic cover you should get the samsung one. Most other ones will probably cause problems with your wacom digitizer if the magnets get too close while you're using it.
I bought the Samsung white cover for £31 on Amazon, it just finishes the look of my tablet, love it. Jim
Samsung white cover with magnets works for me, I think that it can't have a magnetic closer option because it would interfere with the Wacom digitizer.

I have also ordered one online. The "vip" model. I am expecting it to arrive tomorrow together with the GNote 10.1. I will post pictures with the Note with the case on and off so you can evalutate if this one is ok for you or not
My Note should arrive tomorrow and i'll pretty soon get a cover for it. I really dislike Samsungs build quality, i could scratch the whole back of it in one day i guess .. Like many did with the S3. My Motorola razr i doesn't even show a scratch even if it has been dropped by my girlfriend once and i don't handle it too careful.
I think i'll go with the Samsung Diary cover. I don't want my tablet to be bulky just because the manufacturer can't use proper materials and i'm too afraid of scratching it. But the fact that it won't stay closed is a major drawback, seems like i won't get the allround case i need. I think i'll have a look if i can get the Anymode I-Band case in Germany, at least this one looks good in my opinion.

As in update: I received a very cheap trifold magnetic cover that I ordered off of eBay similar to this. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=200899933118&index=6&nav=SEARCH&nid=87359384600
So far it is working fine. It has magnets to keep closed and my pen works fine for drawing.
It has volume, power and charging ports and buttons exposed and you can easily remove your pen. The only thing I wanted exposed was the headphone jack, but a simple hole punch fixed that. Certainly cheap enough.
Now for the warning. The stick on cases are much worse than I expected. They are stuck on pretty much permanently, so switching cases for different activities was not possible. I do that to have a keyboard sometimes. Now the really bad part, the adhesive is strong enough that you can separate the back from the tablet if you are not careful.
I did just that. Nothing breaks, the back of the tablet it's very flexible, but it is a real bear to get back together. Let's just say I know more about the inside off the tab than I would want to this stage in the warranty.

I am no expert but the magnet cases dont affect my devices at all..... All I can think of is that on my old pc monitors if you put a magnet near the screen it would go all rainbowy lol. But magnet cases are used verrrrrry often like on some galaxies and ipads, the magnet in the case usually unlocks the phone when you open the lid of the case. I :fingers-crossed:shouldnt think you need to worry lol

Your average, everyday magnet is not going to cause trouble. As mentioned plenty of cases use them.
Where you will have issues is the larger, more powerful magnets. I work with some really powerful ones that will most assuredly cause you issues.

Magnets DO affect touchscreens. I had a magnetic closure case on my Note N7000 and found a dead spot on the screen that wouldn't register the S Pen. I cut the magnet out but the problem remained.
I bought a Note 3 recently and bought a magnetic closure case as they we're the only ones with the wallet/stand style that I like. The magnet was only near the screen for a few seconds whilst I got my knife to cut it out. I thought that it would be fine. It isn't! I have another touch screen S Pen dead spot.
I don't know if it will have any effect on phones without an S Pen, I just thought I'd pass on the warning.

Anyone worried about magnet ruining digitizer?

I just received the Moko case and it has a magnet that turns our device on and off. But I've heard talks of the magnets ruining the digitizers.
I don't understand how this can happen if the Samsung covers have magnets in addition to our tablets having a setting to interact with magnets. Perhaps it depends on what the magnet is rated at?
Could anyone share or educate me on any risk I have using the Moko case that has a magnet?

Uh... I just ordered a Moko case with that feature and now I'm beginning to worry... Hopefully someone will post saying, "No, it won't affect the digitizer at all because (insert reliable information)."
they say it can, but won't if properly shielded. I don't know who "they" are but they lurk around these here internets. I haven't had any problems yet on my note 8 with a poetic case.

Place the tablet upside-down? Ahh! I see now. You just blew my mind! So there's not supposed to be a magnet on the upper left corner? I feel a indentation there, and it would probably help hold the cover closed, but nothings there. Thanks for the help. As simple as flipping the tablet over is, I might not have realized it for days.

I was afraid of this problem as well and I also just received the Moko case. The first thing I did once I got the case was remove the magnets using an exacto knife. There are 5 in total. There are 4 rectangular magnets where the case flap and the case touch (2 on the edge of the case flap and 2 on the edge of the case itself). I presume they are there for keeping the case closed. Then in the center of the case flap there is a round magnet which I assume is used for the actual wake/sleep feature.
I understand removing the magnets was a little extreme but I only plan to use this case until there is an otterbox defender case made available for it.

I'll probably wind up doing this too. I'm waiting for the Zenus case.
Aren't you guys acting a bit paranoid when even cutting the magnets out of the case. I yet have to find the fist discussion thread or post in which someone confirms permanent damage. And I did quite some extensive googling on the subject. So just post the sites/threads or stop scaring each other.

Did you not read the 4th post of people showing the note 8.0 with dead spots where they can't write?
I had the note 8.0 though and from my memory since it didn't have options and settings to utilize a magnetic cover I think that is the reason why some note 8.0 are getting messed up.
I don't know what will happen but that's why I have a free 2 year warranty so I don't really care.

LOL, the fourth post is actually mine. I've been reading through that entire thread, but so far there's actually no-one having actual *permanent* damage to the digitizer as a result from using a magnetic cover.

Interfering... could be. Ruining seems unlikely to mee. See the discussion in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288809

Interesting read.
Wacom says no permanent damage is caused by magnets, but it could very well be that parts of your device can be magnetized and with that the problem would be (at least) somewhat permanent.

Oh, my mistake lol.
I'm actually not that worried, not enough to cut out the magnets in my moko. I have an extra year warranty with my CC provider and by the end of that warranty, I'm sure I'll be getting the 2016 edition.

If I read that post in the referenced thread right - those "dead spots" were not a demonstration of permanent damage. The poster mentions placing the screen next to the magnets in the folio to achieve that effect.

Could you post pictures of where those magnets are located? I'm going to cut mine out as well. Zenus will start shipping at the end of November so I'd rather play it safe and just get rid of the magnets.
Update. I got out the magnets. The circular magnet was partially covered by the card flap for anyone else interested.
