and? mods are also posted here.
it is not general discussion, it is not QA, it is not theme, it is not app.
it is a patch of system files so the best section is here.
otherwise mods should also remove tytungs GPS libs and many more good stuff. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ROMS!!!
if you want strictly divide stuff to ROMs and patches, moderators should create a new section called Android patches or similar...
(solution: leave all as is now, it is correct)

So what? This section it's about development not about roms only.
Next time you think a thread should be moved, just report it to real mods without replying...

It's not a MOD. It patch just copy NEW files with ZONEINFO in you CURRENT PHONE ROM. What's all. )
I create this patch for my own use. But if you needed that stuff - you can use it freely without compiling new version of zoneinfo from IANA site.

and what are "your needs"
more detail please, like tweaks and kernel, what miui kitchen(nothing fancy?) have you added something besides what is in the kitchen(mustard, ketchup?)
What is in the ROM? MIUI has come a long way though. They need to work on their camera app still.
Hey, let us see some screenshots. 'Your needs' isn't enough as details. I am looking forward to it because you might have really combined some good combos which might be worthy enough of a additional download.
sorry for the leak of info...it's my first rom. i hope i can link a video with my rom running soon in post #2

No offense intended, but if you cooked a ROM using the MIUI Kitchen then the only apparent effort on your part was making a few selections using spasms website (MIUI Kitchen) and downloading a zip.
Does sharing the above mentioned ZIP file make it eligible for the Development section? It's not your creation right?
Wouldn't we rather cook our own ROM considering that we all can? Just saying you know.
Do correct me if any thing I said is incorrect. Or perhaps, just out of line.
If we all begin to post the roms that we cook using the MIUI kitchen, then development section would be a mess. With all my respect, I think this doesn´t deserve a thread in this section.

Don't worry fella. I wasn't out looking for a war of words either. I was honestly confused as to the purpose of this thread in the Dev section.
As a side note, if you have been around on this thread for a long time, you might recall the Doc's kitchen. And I don't mean the current iteration. I am referring to the original Kitchen where the Dev section had about 10 - 15 odd ROM's. Many Dev's built their ROM's around the ones generated off that online kitchen. But they always added their bit to make the ROM stand out of the crowd. Some made it better. Some skinned. Some added new features.
If you have a development background, you might consider doing the same.
i would like to have the knowledge to bouild my own rom. i don't know either where to start

Yoo Here you guys can post random questions regarding development etc
We have already a bunch of threads here regarding Development about AROMA Installer, Theming, ROM Making & I'm getting like a Billion PM's everydayAbout:
- AROMA Installer
- Flashable ZIPs
- Framework
- Theming
- Modding
- De/Re-Compiling
- Tweaking

Finally, someone took the proper step to start this kind of thread,. However, it seems like that I am first with some kind of question and here it is:
Me and a buddy are going to developing our own custom ICS ROM for Arc S (it is our first - so don't blame anyone of us, thanks! :c) and I am going to create an flashable ZIP file for some testing to see other peoples critic and reaction over the ROM and I have searched Google like an madman but can't find any good guide on how to make my own ZIP file.. Do u got any tips or something?

Sure...
First you need a /system file.
You can mod the ROM on your phone, and than make a backup.
Than you can extract this backup using Yaffey.
Now you extract the system.img and put the /system in a .zip
Now the next part..
Download any flashable ROM for Xperia, and put META-INF in your .zip folder and edit the updater script placed in the folders to suit your ROM.
Now you must have inside the .zip "system" and "meta-inf". Make Sure that /system is extracting to /system
Best Regards

[MOD][SlimBean 7.5] 45 Steps Volume mod for fine-tuning media volume

for now, SlimBean version 7.5 only
45 Steps Volume Mod
1. Download this framework.jar and paste into /system/framework/ using a file manager with root access (e.g. ES File explorer, root explorer, etc)
2. Make sure permissions are set to rw-r-r
3. Reboot
Enjoy!
Out of curiosity, do you have the source of what you changed, and what exactly was changed before the framework.jar was compiled?
I wouldn't recommend installing an unknown compiled replacement for the framework.jar without understanding what exactly was changed and how, especially as it may impact other functions of the rom depending on what exactly was changed. Also this mod might not work after 7.5 as there's going to be a major framework change in the next week(lies).
I'll create a new one when a new version of SlimBean releases if people want it.

I'm curious if the framework.jar differs from device to device (I'm not an android developer so it's not within the scope of my knowledge). Because personally I haven't had a sound volume problem with Mako/N4... now the Nexus 7 on the other hand, gotta crank that baby up +12 decibels in DSPManager just to sound loud enough.
It's of course one of the reasons I asked about source, because if it's something minor here or there and just re-compiled for a specific, that would be easier to deployed in my opinion.
Here's the tutorial I followed.

Oh I see now, basically patching up some of the file's values for the desired result as opposed to doing it from source.

Know what would be really handy, if you know how to do it.
An Aroma installer (like I did for my sd-ext/dataswap enabler in my sig).
Basically package two versions of the framework.jar, modified and unmodified. Flashing the zip in recovery will ask if you want to apply the mod, or uninstall the mod, and replace the framework.jar with what you want (or alternatively two zips for apply and restore).

Youre right. I thought about it and concluded I'm not handy enough to create a flashable zip let alone an Aroma installer like the Beanstalk rom guy did in the Android Development forums. I'm thinking it that it may be possible to just do it all via flashable scripts for EVERY rom instead of just slimbean 7.5 but then again, I don't have any training with code. I'm now thinking my mod doesn't deserve a thread of its own lol (especially if people don't trust random files - and they rightfully shouldn't). But, nice looking out!

Technically mods are supposed to have a thread of their own, rather than just tagged in a rom thread.
That way anyone who has questions or issues can discuss them in the thread specific to that mod
Besides, a thread of it's own makes it seem a bit more um... legitimate.

You can use my OZOP Aroma zip and select to install viper from the mods section, or check the International themes and apps thread and you will see I have a couple of options there. My full OZOP v13.1 has the most current version as does the small viper only zip from international thread.
Good luck

That is correct.
I would NEVER come into another persons thread and promote the need to install my ROM. That is very disrespectful. My apologies to OP if that's how it came across.
Also, you don't have to use the ROM version v13.1, the OZOP ROMless version has the same option, just the V4A isn't the newest version.
Make a NANDROID back up first and unless you install "Inverted OZOP Control" from the mods section, stay away from the theme portion as well.
I would say if you aren't familiar with the compatibility, change or add the things you are looking first, then go back and play with other options as you get more comfortable.
Making the NANDROID will save you time and frustration if something doesn't work the way you wanted.
Good luck and please post ANY questions concerning the OZOP project in the appropriate thread. Best to leave the OP's thread discussion to things concerning OP's project.
Good luck and enjoy!

Love the rom. Is there a way to disable it asking for permissions when using tibu? I can't seem to find a way to disable that feature.
Funny how Canadian English is a tad different from US English, like the spelling of Favorites (favourites in this rom), and the word petro instead of gas for the US peeps.

I can't remember the name anymore, but I think it is applicationpermisson or something similar. It's located in system/app folder. Using a file manger with root access navigate there and rename the apk adding ".bak" to the end of it.
Now try TiB again and see if it's gone, you might need to reboot for it to take effect.
I removed that app from my rom for the very reason.
