I had the same problem. After Install the Loading Splash stayed or
an empty screen was shown as desktop.
Solution:
Using Recovery you must
- Wipe /data and /cache
- Mount /data and /system (!)
- Install the new version from ZIP file
It seems as the file is seen as an update, the mount is manually needed.
After that this ROM is the best I have tested so far, I am using now
permanently. The Wifi is now much more stabile, did download 7,2GB
of cards in Sygic with no problems. Also SPB 3D works nice on this,
could even remove Nova Launcher to save some space. Skype
also works nicely.
Thank you for the good work.

Update your updater script from mine. It's looking like your updater script doesn't flashs to data

[APP] SGS Tools

View the sourcecode on google Code!
Don't let the app die, develop for it/include its features in another app.
Latest version (4.1.9) can be found on page #37
Hi,
I have written an app, which contains useful functions specially for the Galaxy S imho.
It can do the following things:
-Secret codes list (contains at the moment 31 codes)
(Don't worry clicking around, there will appear a popup if you have selected factory/hard reset )
-System clean up: this means you can delete all system apps you don't like with 1 click. It will remove the .apk, the .odex and the data directory.
It won't let you delete apps that will "brick" your phone, so very useful for android beginners.
-MarketFix: This sets the Fingerprint in the build.prop to JF3 (2.1) and cleares the market cache. After a day you should see 120 hits when searching for "documents".
Useful if you are using a test Firmware and don't see copy protected apps in market.
-Homescreen Settings: In this Menu you can set the default screen (press the home button when you are already on the home screen) and the screen count.
Only works with some Firmwares! Works for example with JM5, JM7.
-Move SGS Tools to System: This will save the app on the device if you do a factory/hard reset. You can also undo this.
-Run a script.
This menu can run scripts, which are written as .txt files.
Simply write every command in a new line and put the script.txt to /sdcard/sgstools.
It checks the inputstream of the process, for example if you want to notify the user about progress with "echo /sdcard/test removed", this will appear in the progressdialog. It also checks the errorstream and will display, if for example a command could not be found.
- Enable/Disable boot/shutdown sound or place custom sounds
-Last but not least, you can add shortcuts to homescreen, which let you run commands. Useful for example as shutdown, reboot recovery, reboot, etc.
There's a bug in 2.2 Firmwares, which won't let you pick custom icons for shortcuts! (I tested it on 2.2 Emulator and also anycut won't set an icon on 2.2 Firmwares..)
That's it. Hope you like it.
(Sorry, it's not on the market - I don't have a market account yet )
PS: Press Menu Button to access further menus.
PPS: It uses a custom menu
PPPS: Rotate the device, and you will see in some menus a rotation animation!
PPPPS: German users can also look in this http://www.android-hilfe.de/samsung-galaxy-s/33978-sgs-tools-app-zum-schnellen-bearbeiten.html.

Yeah requieres root, but not for the secret codes.
Nice one!
You could also add a option to change system sounds, bootscreens etc. (very SGS specific)

Very nice app I have just one remark about secret codes, it seems that the secret codes executes directly which is very handy but in a case of "HARD RESET", Factory data reset" I think the user should been warned about danger this commands can do before one pinch those links
Can you implement that in your app ?
Wow! Looks amazing. Is the rotation animation just in that application or across the whole device?

When users execute the Factory data reset code they come in a window in which they explicitely have to agree by clicking a button (same window btw when you trigger factory data reset from the settings->security menu... which also don't present a warning btw)
Hard reset is tricky on the other hand. You never wanna trigger that one

Already implemented, look at attached picture. Or did u meant a second warning?
@Hard Reset:
I needed that 2 days ago, in order to use the lagfix. I had not enough space on data and only a hard reset (or manually removing much files) could solve that.

Rotation is only in that application, sry. For whole device you would have to modify the Framework, which isn't possible because it's not open source.
You would have to build a rom from aosp to implement that.

OK, I was just testing some secret codes in your app and saw that they were executed directly and then I hadn't guts to pinch the hard reset and factory reset links and hence was my question to you.
But now I know better and can bee shore that they can't do some major damage if I stupidly do a mistake and pinch those links
BTW a very nice touch the sliding menu
As a suggestion you could maybe implement APN backup as well
5 stars Fr4gg0r, so useful. Many thanks!
Custom Bootanimation seems not to be possible at the moment..
But I will add enable/disable Bootsound later this day.

So because Samsung's version of Android is closed source we can't implement it but say in Cyanogen Mod it would be possible? This is one of the major features I want to see in Android, adds a nice visual touch.
I think it should be possible in a Cynogen Mod.
But it's not said, that the system is powerful enough to handle that with heavy views..
okay, for the noobs here (meaning me), can someone do a quick "how to" install instuction
tks - and i am rooted
'Homescreen Settings' doesn't work for me
I set 'default: 2' and 'amount of screens: 5'. After press apply and reboot, no results. If I press home key, always show me the first one (0)

I have already heard this by other people.. the problem is, for me it always worked.
Are you really using JM5 or JM7?
To exclude misunderstanding:
If you press the home button from anywhere, you will always taken to first screen. This cannot be changed.
But if you already are on homescreen and then press the home button, it should take you to the screen you have set in my app.
@larryccf
Simply copy the apk to sdcard.
Then launch the stock myfiles app, or whatever file explorer, and click on the .apk.
The file explorer should initiate the installing then.
Update to Version 3.1:
-now you can de or activate the boot / shutdown sound and also replace them with custom sounds.
-I rewrote the Activity handling, which had been very bad! Now you won't have the press several times the back key.
The new .apk can be found in the first post.
I'll attach 2 example bootsounds..
Thanks very useful app.

Some screens ?
Polish language included in this ROM?
Hi i am using Wildfire S small Leizi 8-24-11 i am found two minor anoing details in this room, one is that the cannot know my localization if i am using wifi only, for example in google.com it ask me if it can use my location data and i say yes and nothing happens another example is in the meteorology widget it cannot check where am i, i need to manualy put where am i, this was usefull in travels because it automaticly tells me where am i and the other one was the short language support.
I would like to if this room was fixed this issues or at least the first one, because i am fine with english.
And i agree with buber82 some screens would be great.
Does the Sense 3.0 Lockscreen has those grey circles around each icon, because in the room i am using it does not have them and i think it´s better that way, i know this is a stupid detail and that there are thousand of other things more important but i would only like to know.
i am not the maker of Small Leizi Rom also it is a chinese rom. JikantaruROM is made by me actually there is no bugs in this rom also lock screen 3.0 has gray like original. taskbar is not transparent. this ROM is Asia rom. but you have to modify gps.conf to change your country.
Hi Jikantaru;
I'm in the mood of trying your ROM (and will be my first)
I need to ask you two things:
- from your description it looks like support to App2SD is possible using:
So that more software support APP2SD methods:
1 download adb.zip, extract to the C drive WINDOWS\system32
2. Handset menu, select Settings - application - development of tick-USB debugging, choose the PC side to connect disk drives
3 on the PC desktop, click the menu → Run → type "cmd"
4 pop-up DOS screen, enter "cd C:\WINDOWS\system32\adb"
5 Enter the following three commands,
adb shell
pm setInstallLocation 2
reboot
enter these three commands are case-sensitive,the phone will reboot, and then on OK.

Thanks for help!
I don't know how in mac
but you can follow this link2sd thread much better, it's what i'm using to move downloaded apps that can't be move to sdcard. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326
make 2nd partition on sd, mine i made 512mb ext2 but you can try other ext if you want, like ext3 or ext4 see if it works make it as primary. download link2sd from the market its free. use minitool partition wizard, but i think it's for windows, find a partition manager for mac, or just find a pc.
======
In my rom root xplorer app is included you can modify it there, it has a built in text editor. no need to change the gps.conf file cause i already replaced it, just modify the inside of it, of course you should mount R/W in root explorer. see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
gud luck
Very good job.
I'm trying your ROM. I haven't found bug so far.
I'll probably use it as main ROM.
it is normal 10 - 12 % battery drain per hour, if i hear musik with headset (screen off)?
have a muggen-power 1500mah
Hi Jikantaru;
Thanks for explanation. App2Sd trick is clear now and i'll do it.
About gps is a bit more complicated..before diving into it and devastate my phone..which is the counter effect of not doing it?
Thanks!

To hasbai :
If you look in apps, you'll notice thet there's Equalizer.
I think, it consumes ressources a lot.
I use SetCPU to improve battery life. Equalizer causes to freeze my device when screen is off (due to low frequency with SetCPU Profile).
I've unintalled it and everything's OK.
When I listen to music, I use PowerAmp with its integated equalizer. Everything works, even if screen is in off mode.
But the ROM works great, I'm keeping using it.
HI,
looks nice, even though I would prefer a non-Sense version given the weak processor.
WHich frequencies do you manage to get using setCPU with this ROM?
ON the STock rom I can only select between 480 and 600, not really too much, so I would like to try this one out.

WHich frequencies do you manage to get using setCPU with this ROM?
ON the STock rom I can only select between 480 and 600, not really too much, so I would like to try this one out.

There is no custom kernel now, so you'll got the same frequencies. Waiting for overclock kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249816

1. cause other icon is for setting it up; maybe you could use titanium bakup to remove it or just delete on system/app folder. but first you have to run uninstall in the second icon. why you want to remove it. its only 200kb.
2. try facebook on market or htc hub. i didnt remove friendstream.
Edit:
I put screen off and lock app so anyone wants CRT TV off animation you can put icon in home screen. The mod that when you press power button and CRT animation appears, is only for deodexed rom, deodexed services.jar won't boot the phone.
I tried to deodex this rom but 62MB internal memory is left.
Thanks for your reply.. What about gesture lock? and i have seen it is draining battery very fast? last jikantaru rom was fine but this rom is draining battery very fast dont know why?

What is this? (Thanks to everyone who help me to get rid of the really annoying ads. Now I don't see those annoying Ads after login)
This ROM is completely FL16 JB stock ROM with rooted, busybox added. There are three versions of this ROM based on odexed (pure stock) or deodexed.
1. CWM Flashable FL16 Pure Stock ROM (Odexed) - can be used with Data Wipe or No Data Wipe - Mirror
MD5 Check Sum - bcafc6e7fdb1a8a495850c5d131c15d7
2. CWM Flashable FL16 Pure Stock ROM (Deodexed apk) - only apk files deodexed - I don't think you need this.
3.CWM Flashable FL16 Pure Stock ROM (Fully Deodexed) - Deodexed /system/app + /framework - can be used with Data Wipe or No Data Wipe - Kobridge's_Stock_ROM_vFL16DS.2.zip 2/2/13 Updated!
MD5 Checksum: 7f8e5abf2109ddfd1430a5dfc7532006
How to Flash?
Before flashing this ROM, be sure that you have a nandroid backup available or make a new nandroid backup. Flash this ROM at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damages on your phone!
The steps are same as other ROMs. You'll need a CWM recovery kernel to flash this ROM and after flashing this ROM, you will lose the CWM recovery kernel because this ROM replace the CWM recovery kernel with stock FL16 kernel.
You will also need to flash the FL16 modem zip file (separate link provided) while flashing this ROM. Or you can flash it separately.
No Data Wipe - if you want to keep your current manually installed non-stock apps, do not wipe the data partition. You would be able to use your old configuration in most cases. I used this option to upgrade my previous rom to FL16. No issues found.
Data Wipe/Factory reset - it's also ok doing factory reset or wiping data partition using CWM recovery tool before flashing this ROM if you want to do a clean install. There's no reboot nor force closing issue found.

Kobridge's System App Backup & Recovery Tool - Advanced users only
Note: Incorrect use of this tool would cause a bootloop. When this tool recovers system apps, it first deletes all system apps. So, after the recovery, all system setting values are set to default.
System App Backup from CWM recovery: This tool makes backup of your system apps from /system/app and /preload/symlink/system/app folders.
You can use this tool whenever you makes the nandroid backup, flashed new kernel or you have the system app changes. If something goes wrong with system app, you can use this backup to recover the system apps. This would be a very convenient tool for most of users because to recover the system app, we may spend lots of time - recover the system using ROM, nandroid backup and make the changes again, etc.
System App recovery tool: After you make the backup of your system apps using my system app backup tool, you can simply use this recovery tool from CWM recovery. It will restore the all system apps based on the backup data. This tool recovers the system apps from /sdcard/backup/system and /sdcard/backup/preload folders.
Benefits using Kobridge's System App Backup/Recovery tool -
you don't need to flash the bloatware remover or manually remove the system apps after flashing the rom. You can simply use this tool to go back to previous status.
If system does not boot with system app issue, just simply odin the recovery kernel and flash the backed up system apps using recovery tool. Flash the original kernel and reboot. Your phone will boot without doing everything again!
After the recovery, all system settings moves back to factory default - clean up effect
After the recovery, all system data stored in /data/data folder cleaned up and any garbages removed!
without wiping data partition, you can get the same effects for the system apps.
a lot more...
Cons using Kobridge's System App Backup/Recovery tool -
You lose the previous saved system settings. Every system app's settings goes back to factory default.
Kobridge's CSC Tweak - experience the extended menu and options
Note: If you changed the values by yourself or removed any CSC stock files, then CSC tweak may not work.

Kobridge's Stock Bloatware Remover for Jelly Bean (FL16/FL04 ROM)
How to flash - just like flashing the rom, flash zip file from CWM recovery (I recommend to use EL26. You can find the EL26 CWM zip tar files in here)
You can flash this zip file just after flashing the rom or you can flash this zip file separately depending on your need. Be sure that after you flash this zip file, you may need to flash the original Kernel also at the same CWM session without rebooting your phone.
Where you can find the removed apps
You can find the removed apps from /mnt/extSdCard/Removed_Apps (system apps) and /mnt/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/preload (preload apps). To bring it back to your phone, move the apk files to /system/app or /preload/symlink/system/app folder and reboot.

How to recover old APK [or odex] files if I already removed some apps using previous version of bloatware remover:

Some useful info on JB ROM:
Some widgets are not working on JB depending on the launcher.
Samsung Task manager is not showing from app list. To launcher the app, you can use the widget or long pressed 'home' button to run the Samsung task manager.
Old sqlite3 binary does not work on JB. I had to change the sqlite3 binary in this rom to make the wifi sleep timer working.
It appears that external_SD under /SDCARD is no longer pointing to external SD card. Now it's under /mnt/extSdCard, /storage/extSdCard - I need to look at some scripts running during the boot.
System partition is too small to hold all apps. It seems like that's the reason why Samsung added /preload partition and moved some of non-core apps there. I tried to keep all apps into /system partition and phone didn't boot.
snapshot key - vol down + power do not work any more. To get the snapshot, press the home key + power button together
New way to recover the phone using Nandroid & stock ROM: (you can use this methond with Kobridge's system app backup/recovery tool)
Because Jelly Bean is using another partition which is not covered by our traditional CWM recovery. Whenever you restore your phone using nandroid backup oly, you may not get the full restore of your phone. It's because the /preload changes are not included. So, there is no way to backup this folder by cwm recovery.
So, what I'm suggesting method is
1. Be sure that you have a nandroid backup after JB rom flashed. Be sure that you have the flashable JB rom.
2. now to start the nandaroid recovery, reboot into cwm.
3. (full wipe data & cache) or do the factory reset
4. flash JB rom
5. (do not reboot after flashing the ROM) recover nandroid backup on the same recovery session
6. Flash Kobridge's Bloatware remover tool if you did that before
7. flash the JB kernel again (if your CWM kernel during nandroid backup was ICS or lower, then phone won't boot without this step)
8. reboot
Some other Kobridge's Tweaked ROM info:
When many apk files are updated or if you flashed new Kobridge's stock ROM, remove /data/local/zipalignedapk file and reboot. It will try to re-zipalign all apks from /preload /system/app /data/app.
Removed apks are placed in /storage/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/ (from system/app) and /storage/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/preload (from preload/symlink/system/app). /storage/extSdCard folder is a symbolic link of /mnt/extSdCard.
To move the removed apps back to original folder, you have to copy(move) the apk files from Removed_Apps folders to /system/app folder and change the permision to 644 and reboot. You cannot move the apk files back to /preload folder because the symbolic link is not there. To move it to preload folder, you have to manually create the symlink for the move files.
If you do not want to use Kobridge Tweak, remove the init.d folder and /system/bin/dvfs.sh file. For build.prop, copy it from original stock rom and place it to /system folder.
To check the tweak result, find /data/log/kobridge_tweakxx.log files (total 4 files created)
Again, I do not use 'data wipe'. From ICS to JB, everything moved ok and working fine for me.
On the same CWM recovery session, you can flash the ROM, Modem, and bloatware remover script also. But be sure that you need to wait enough time until system reboot and settle. After flashing the ROM, you may need to wait about upto 5 minutes. If you removed alignedapk file and doing the re-zipalign, then it would also take 3-5 minutes.
Kobridge Tweak Pack vJB4.2
From this version, I do not include my Kobridge tweaks into stock rom. So, if you want to add Kobridge Tweaks into this ROM, you need to flash the separate zip file (I want to give you the option that you could use any tweaks from anyone).

Battery Life in JB ROM - 12/22/12 - this information is subject to change.
So far, what I've found on JB rom is, there are lots of wakup locks comparing with ICS and GB. I think one of the reason why is, I never saw any wifi connection issue on JB rom whenever the screen turned on from deep sleep(?). From the ICS rom, we've seen lots of wifi wakeup failures but I've not seen this from JB.
So for overall, the battery life in JB is worst comparing with ICS or GB. For me, it's less than half of my ICS battery life. I'm still trying to figure out to make the battery life better on JB.
Update 12/23/12
I removed lots of wakeups but
Still not happy with battery life personally. Below three screenshots with 4.2A mode. A little fast battery consumption comparing with in ICS. (I'll test this again after my new battery arrives 1800mA)
Update 01/11/12 - with new battery
Finally got new 1800mA battery and measured battery life during one full charge cycle.
The battery life is much better than before comparing with my old battery.
Battery life shows in screenshots below starting from 4th and it's based on -
FL16 Stock deodexed, fl16 stock kernel/modem, no tweaks but some app level tweaks to reduce the battery consumption. Some of the apps are showed in screenshots and percentages being used.
Update 01/14/12
Finished the second life cycle of new battery. For overall, battery life is great even without the tweaks. I like this ROM!
The screenshots are available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059714&page=42
What's next? Battery life after applying the Kobridge Tweak Modes.
What's new on FL16?
Toggle bar moves - 'sync' option added into toggle bar (screenshot #2)
Telenav still does not work on FL16 odex version - once after open the app, it goes directly google market and update the app. But it's FC'd. - fixed on current version
vtt-sprint.apk removed from symlink
Connection Optimizer name changed from ConnectionManager.apk to ConnectionManager-wimax.apk
USB Mass Storage connection option is gone from Settings. Nowhere to find it.
Trick - download 'USB mode switch for SGS1 on CM (usb switch). This one always worked for me on any rom whenever I had an issue on mounting USB storage as mass storage. (screenshot #3&4)
Settings > Application manager - 'ON SD CARD' tab added
Internet browser force closing on different DPI (200)
Exchange service - whenever wifi sleep policy is set the 'never' (turn off wifi during the sleep)', it uses most of CPU and makes the phone unable to sleep! When the policy is set to 'always wifi turned on' then, phone sleeps better! Something wrong with connection optimizer. If you do not use exchange email, then freeze this service along with email app
First!
Thank you Kobridge
I hope those tweaks turn out well :fingerscrossed:
looks like your knocking this out. 2nd.
EDIT: looks very nice.
Yipes! Excellent. Watching closely.

Downloading now, how are wimax speeds looking kobridge? I've only been getting 1.2Mb max on cm9/10 compared to 10+ on stock el26
Edit: Pulled 5.4 up last night, not bad! BTW for anyone wondering about 4g tethering, try the latest beta of the app Wifi Tether for Root Users from their project site (the market version wouldn't connect and every other app dropped to 3g)
It worked.

I have a question. How are you managing to deodex the services.odex file??? Everytime I try to deodex this Stock ROM this is the only part that errors out and will not deodex. All the rest of the framework and apk's deodex just fine. The error I get is as follows:
NOW AT FILE 40 OF 44 IN system/framework: services.odex
Disassembling services.odex ...
java -Xmx512m -jar baksmali.jar -a 15 -d ../framework -x services.odex

The tweak is not included in this ROM. To apply the tweak, you need to manually flash the tweak zip file.

I'm a novice about deodexing. But what I can tell you is you need to add bootclass path on it.

[fix] s5 port dwnld booster toggle [fix]

I've been using @ktetreault14's and @cdmvirt's S5 port ROMs for some time now (which by the way, are both amazing, I honestly salute your guys' work), and being extremely particular with regards to small details, I noticed that the Download Booster toggle, though it does show up in the Settings under notification panel, never actually makes to the SystemUI - statusbar toggles. I'm not sure as to whether this was just an issue I was experiencing, perhaps I was doing something wrong while setting up the ROM, however, being new and not being able to post on the development forum, I wasn't really able to see if anyone else was experiencing this.
Nevertheless, I managed to figure out how to enable it, if indeed you were not able to get the 'NetworkBooster' toggle to show up in the statusbar toggles.
---------INSTRUCTIONS--------
1. Go to the Google Drive links below and download the noti_pane_netw_boos.zip AND the SystemUI(corrected toggles).apk.
2. Rename your current SystemUI.apk in system/priv-app/ to SystemUI.apk.bak, or simply back it up just in case.
***MAKE SURE TO DO NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE NEXT STEP IN CASE FOR WHATEVER REASON A PROBLEM ARISES***
3. Reboot into recovery mode (I was using Philz), clear dalvik cache, and flash the 'noti_pane_netw_boos.zip'.
4. Reboot your device.
***NOTE: YOU MUST ADD THE 'WifiCalling' TOGGLE INTO THE 'Settings.db' 'system' TABLE, NOT 'NetworkBooster'. ***
i.e. If you use the SQLite method to add/remove quick toggles, go to SettingsStorage.apk in SQLite Editor, go to Settings.db, then go to 'system' table, then for the value of 'notification_panel_active_apps_list', add 'WifiCalling;', making sure to not add any spaces and to end the line with a ';' (semi-colon).
----> If you use the method of going into csc/feature.xml or csc/others.xml and adding the quick toggles in the <CscFeature_Settings_DefNotificationPanelOrder> and <CscFeature_Settings_DefQuickPanelOrder> tags, simply do the same. Add 'WifiCalling;' at the end of the list.
5. Reboot device once again in order to allow the above changes to take place, and you should have the download booster toggle in the statusbar.
Let me know if you have any issues or questions.
Regards

Problem with Swift Black (rooted, clean stock OOS 5.1)

Hello.
I'm trying to apply this theme (bought on Play Store of course) and it doesn't work asides for already themed apps from OOS dark theme.
Is there anything special to do in order to make it work ?
Thanks for your help.
Did you choose Oxygen version in the left top corner of the app list? Swift black is working well for me on OB6.
Same thing happened tonme..infact none of substratum themes working. overlay getting installed successfully but nothing is getting themed..not even after a reboot..tried clearing cache nd dalvik but still nothing..

It was a little tricky for me to but here's what I did
1. Open Swift black selected OOS from the top drop down
2. Make sure your select the option for every app that has a drop down confirming your app version# for each one Instagram, play store etc....
3. Click the FAB SELECT BUILD /UPDATE
4. repeat step 2
5. click FAB SELECT BUILD/INSTALL
make sure you the "THEME INSTALLED WITH NO ERRORS" message in status bar wait 30 sec for system UI to restart you should notice some changes now
REBOOT- PROFIT ENJOY:good: much WoW,??

Thanks, it works for me.
The steps are different in custom ROM tho (OmniROM case)
1- Build and update
2- Reboot
3- Activate
Yep, it's odd imo ,but that's how it works lol
Or, after installing the themes, reboot. Then go back into substratum to the manager page and select all themes and then enable selected. You will have to reboot again for apps like Google to to theme. Enjoy.
