amazon app store - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've recently got me a Kindle Fire 2, which has been working nicely up to now, where it's developed a strange problem with the App Store. When I load it, instead of getting the "Free App of the Day" main page, all I get is a blank screen with only the category headings at the top.
I'm not currently keen to hack it into a normal tablet just yet, and this is only slightly annoying - but has anyone else seen this?

I would do a factory reset.

I was hoping to avoid that, and bizarrely - just after posting this, it started working again. ho hum.

If this happens to someone else.. try clearing the app data through settings.

HBO GO Help! (Pic)

Hey everyone, so my Galaxy S3 works great except that the HBO GO app for some reason has sporadic static lines running through the video. I don't notice this in any other video app including WatchESPN or YouTube. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it and even tried installing an older version and nothing has gotten rid of it. I have a second Galaxy S3 that my work is letting me borrow for testing and it has no such problems.
This is really getting me frustrated and was hoping that someone could offer some advice. I'm not rooted so I'd like to avoid wiping the device but didn't know if any other apps conflict with HBO GO that I should be aware of. Attached is a pic of the screen and you'll see the static lines I'm talking about outlined in red. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Do you have cinemax? If so try to see if it does it with that app, too.

Unfortunately I don't have Cinemax. Anyone have any ideas?

So I ended up just going to the T-Mobile store and swapping out the handset since I was within my 14 days. The new one has no issues with HBO GO or any other video. No idea what would have caused it but was just hoping someone else had seen the issue with the video before.

Amazon app store and JB 4.2

Since upgrading to JB 4.2 the Amazon app store keeps having me authenticate periodically. I assume that this is related to the JB update, but I haven't seen anyone else mention this issue. Particularly when accessing Tweetcaster Pro is when I see the issue start, but then no other app works correctly.
Just for some background, I wiped my phone yesterday with 4.1 and then installed 4.2. I have the latest version of the app store and have tried clearing cache/data, uninstalling, reinstalling. No help.
So I'd like to know if anyone else is seeing this or if it is just me.

Probably just needs a compatibility update, same as every other app that isn't working on 4.2 right now.

Thanks. I figured that was the case. I would just be more at ease knowing I wasn't alone.

Same here - driving me freaking crazy
You may have to redownload the Appstore apk, there seems to be one with a new layout now.

It kept asking me to sign in and when I did it was saying wrong password even though I knew it was right. I only had about 3 paid apps for free that I still used so I just uninstalled them and purchased from the play store and uninstalled the amazon app store.....haven't "bought" a free app in like 3 months...the selection is getting to be crap

Sorry for you, but glad to hear it. I ended up calling them today and they hadn't heard of any issues. I suspect they know now.
I'm getting the same thing too although my login credentials actually work. The one thing I haven't checked is whether or not these logins are creating a new device authorization every time.
I completely wiped my phone before upgrading to 4.2 and Amazon App store and Verizon FiOS Mobile Remote are the only two apps with issues.
I have the same issue with Forum Runner. Every time I close the app I get signed out and need to re-login every time I open it back up. So annoying but I'm guessing its a 4.2 update thing. I've deleted it and re-downloaded it and it made no difference.

Unfortunately, I have a few FAOTD that I use frequently, so I have to keep it installed.

They explained to me that everytime you login, it creates a new device instance. They limit it at 25. I hit that mark yesterday.

I've read that in the past, but it's never been true for me. I use TubeMate from Amazon and dont need the Amazon Market installed to do so.
Having the same issue with the app store. Just got off the phone with amazon and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix now

Ouch! I just logged in to my Amazon account and saw all the "Nexus 7 xx" devices that were registered.
Thanks for the heads up. I deregistered all the new devices.
This worked for me
From another forum I found this solution to work:
1) Delete Google Account
2) Reboot Device
3) Reactivate Google Account
4) Log on with Amazon Appstore App
All apps load and run without need to log on each time now.
I also deleted excess Amazon devices as noted above.

Yeah it does add a new device each time... I have 7! Deleted 6 of them... still same problem.

Amazon Appstore

I had a problem a while back with the Appstore logging out daily, so each log in adds a new device on-line. It was "fixed" on a revC apk and working fine for a few weeks. Just started doing the same yesterday. Anyone else having this issue?
I haven't seen this issue since it was fixed except for once. The appstore was logged out for no reason. It hasn't happened since so I haven't thought about it again. Not sure of any cause though.

Ditto here. I think I'm done with Amazon apps. Combine the losing password with the fact that you can't see the version of app store without logging in (to see if you need to update) and you can't paste into the password box (since I keep my passwords in a safe and normally don't see/type them) it becomes way too annoying.
So you are giving up on an app that gives you a free app every day because you occasionally have to re enter your details?

I uninstalled appstore, and re downloaded and reinstalled from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/android seems to stick now. I have too many free apps to give it up, although I am replacing them 1 by 1. Play is so much faster at updating.

Well, not just that. The free app every day used to include some good ones, but I can't remember the last time I saw one that interested me. The re-entering of details (and situations where you can't do that, like if you're on a plane) combined with the lack of timely app updates (and occasional battery drain issues) just make it more hassle than it's worth for me. YMMV.

Google Play Games not showing "All My Games".

Okay, so Google Play Games has not been loading all my games under the "All My Games" category. All I ever get is a spinning icon. I am stock unrooted dalvic.
Does anyone else have this problem. I know it used to show all of my games, but I cant pinpoint when it stopped. I have rooted before and had different roms and used ART before. But I have done a complete restore to 4.3 stock as per this guide and updated through the over the air update to 4.4.2. Once on 4.4.2 I then wipe the device from recovery. I have no idea why on bone stock I cannot get this app to show all of my games.
Of course Googling this issue is useless as the idiotic naming scheme for the app and it's menus are too generic to wield any results. On top of that the Google mobile help forums appear to have no way to actually post in them.
Has anyone else had this issue or at least have a recommendation on how to find a way to resolve it?
I am having this exact same issue. Nothing I have done so far has fixed it. It just started happening today. Were you ever able to resolve it?

Anyone tested Netflix on 10.5?

How the Netflix app running, smooth?
Netflix runs great on mine. Depending on your connection. If I use my phone for connection and in Sprint spark territory I receive HD content. Same for home network.
Yes Netflix is gorgeous on the 10.5. Give it about 30 seconds or so for the HD movie to buffer and it looks incredible.
The Netflix and youtube apps have been optimized by Samsung for this device. They look spectacular. It's third party video apps that suffer with extreme Pixelation and ghosting in dark scenes. Such as Crackle, Cable Provider Apps and other streaming services.
Mine doesn't even let me activate it, I mean, I'm just entering the app for the first time, when I enter my Email and password is telling me that the device can't be activated, I called Netflix and the only thing they told me was to uninstall it and reinstall it and when I told them that this one came pre-installed that I can't uninstall it just turn it off, he didn't even know what to tell me.
They are telling me to contact Samsung, so go figure...

I'm getting the same error. Tried clearing the data and signing in again, but now it won't even let , me get that far. Just getting the device cannot be activated error.

Please call Netflix and/or Samsung so they know that this isn't an isolated problem and worth together to fix it.
I called Samsung and basically told me to reset to factory, I asked them if they guarantee me that doing that will fix my issue and they couldn't, so I told them that I wasn't in the mood of just wasting hours that took me to set this today just to see if that fixes it and if at least they have a reliable backup solution where I could simply reset and restore I'd do it, but not with the joke they call Kies, and that I have had all their Galaxies s, both Gears and now the Tab S, so I do like them but must admit that their backup solution is a joke and is a shame that they seem to not care about do something at least like LG has.
I called back Netflix and this time they were asking and escalating the call and in waiting for a call back.
Just for curiosity and trying to cover all the bases, are you on the Continental US? I live in Puerto Rico and I'm just wondering if this could be some Region issue.
Just to let you know that after trying all day at the office where I'm the System Manager so I have full online access as usual with all my previous and actual android devices, and after talking to Samsung and Netflix guys I just cane home and guess what, I could activate Netflix without a hiccup, so what can be different with this Netflix app on this Tablet that is the first device that I couldn't activate the Netflix app but everything else was working perfectly, even more, I used the OEM browser and Chrome and went to Netflix and login from there and saw everything perfectly, so the proviene was always the Netflix App.
Let me wait for Netflix call as they haven't call yet and see what they think after I explain this to them.

I was able to get it working as well. I went into the application manager and uninstalled the update. Then, let it reupdate from the Google Play store and it worked fine.

They never called me yesterday, but after trying at home and worked I'm sure they just re-adjusted something on their end, that's the only explanation why suddenly it worked after not working for a full day, I'm assuming that they just changed something and let me try it again by myself instead of call me, that can explain why yours is working now also. I did what you are mentioning here about 5 times and nothing worked before, so if now is working then maybe something was changed after my couple of calls.

Netflix streams 4k video now, breaking bad, and ghostbusters I know for sure are 4k. I don't know if it will convert or look better though on the Samsung tab S? Let me know if you notice any difference?
I picked up the 8.4 S yesterday and I think it's clear that this is the best device for Netflix I have ever used. I checked out both the 8.4 and the 10.5 at the dealer and felt that the 8.4 was superior due to the pixel density giving it a sharper look.
To some extent I didn't feel the 10.5 was any better than the Note 10.1 2014 and I have always felt that video was a bit blurry on the larger screens. The display density on the 8.4 is just perfect and Netflix and Youtube are impressive.
I got the 10.5. 32Gb. Love it. No problem seeing up Netflix. When I started the the stock Netflix app it requested an update. After that it run smoothly.

I noticed some of you said that Netflix was already installed. For some reason mine wasn't.
I wonder why?
As I thought there was an exclusive Netflix app for the tab s. If I download Netflix from play store is it the same app?
Also for those that have the Netflix app pre installed is it not deletable then?
Mine came with Netflix pre installed. I can't delete it, only uninstall the updates.

Mine also came with pre installed Netflix. When I tried to run it, it promenade me to upgrade the app. After the upgrade it run flawlessly.

Got my galaxy tab s in the UK with no previous installed Netflix. Downloaded the app from Google play and it just hangs on the signing in page. Very frustrating.

Got my Tab s 4G from 3 UK and all works perfectly so far, even got he on Netflix compared to my partners tab 2.
