Stock rom OTA dpi change? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I changed DPI after OTA and got a Soft Boot. (went from 320 to 240)
Anyonw know why? I am now afraid to change my DPI
I used Rom Toolbox, and it had 2 DPI settings. (both the same) i changed both.
Are they for the pen, and the regular display? Was it a goof in Rom Toolbox? Any help is appreciated.

This is the third or fourth time iv heard of rom toolbox doing this. I would suggest to not use it anymore. Change dpi by editing the build prop. I use root explorer for that

It works just fine. When you navigate to system/ buildprop, longpress buildprop and hit open with> text editor. Make your changes and hit menu> save and exit.

I honestly did that. i have done it hundreds of times on my Samsung Infuse. I wonder what it could be. i have read people say the root explorer is finicky with su commands...
Also when it wasnt letting me, supersu was logging that i had to have the pay for version to do it (but it may have meant a different command). so i switched to superuser (like my cm10 build used) and it didnt make a difference.

You need to make sure that you have the latest busy box installed. For me, root didn't work properly until I did that. It really is a great file explorer for the nexus, being that our screen is large and I love the drag and drop.

I can't get root access files with this file manager so its fairly useless but it looks pretty I guess just not practical, went back to root explorer an es file explorer an yes I have latest busybox as most root apps need it :screwy:
Best looking file explorer app, but depending on the ROM I'm running I can't get root access because the ROM is using a custom busybox. This is the only app I ever have this issue with unfortunately.

Yep, I know how to get the SU dialog to pop up, but another message saying Busybox needed to be updated would always come up as well, depending on the ROM I was on at the time. Just letting others know.

Not necessarily true... I side loaded both these apps just fine in EsFile Explorer. Try going into recovery and fixing permisions and clear cache/dalvik, bet you already have install from unknown sources checked, but double check just in case. But in the later, it would prompt for you to change it when attempting to install :/

Yes, install button going disabled is a bug in android systems, not just Lux, or because of any other brightness reducer app!
If u have any brightness reducer app, it results in disabling the install button for installing any saved app(apps from playstore install without any problem).
Disabling this app will enable the "install" button.

Bump
I can't find the thread but here is what you have to do.
Using root explorer ( or similar program), navigate to /system and set folder to writable. Open ur build.prop with text editor and add the following line:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval= (enter desired time in seconds here)
Then save and reboot.
I think the default is like 120 or something. I am not sure on JB but the line isn't there like it used to be. On the OG epic, the line was there and my value was modified to 300.
I would suggest backing up your build.prop before modifying. I am still new to the sgs3 so I am making an assumption this will work for you.

Duplicate Apps

Hey. Is there a way to create a duplicate game app so I can manage two profiles? I used to do it on my iPhone all the time, but I haven't figured out how to do it on Android yet. Any help is appreciated.
Btw, rooted and I have a good file Explorer and TiBu. Thanks.

There might be a way for experienced modders and the like. You could edit the package name and it's manifest prevent it from overwriting the current app. I have no clue how to do this though. Another option is to find another device and just install it there. I think the latter would be a lot simpler and easier. Hope I helped!
Sent from my Galaxy S3
I may try to look through some things to do it. Whenever I unzip an apk, edit what I want, rezip it, change it to. Apk, and try to install it I get a parse error, though. It's extremely frustrating. And I only have the one device, unfortunately.
That parse error is because you edited the apk and didn't recompile and resign it. Look in Software Development for a tool to do those for you. Hope I helped!

So after some serious research, I found that in TiBu, I could just turn the app into a multi user app and setup different data profiles for it and switch between them as I so desire.

I certainly can. First, near the bottom on the main TiBu page it says active days profile, tap to switch. Tap that and create Two profiles. One for each account.
Then go to the backup/restore tab. Scroll down to the app you want to dup and tap it, swipe right, and click enable multiple profiles. Viola.
Now you can either go into TiBu and switch data profiles every time you want to switch accounts or simply create the TiBu data profile widget.
Let me know if you have any more problems.

With root what to enable in build prop?

What have you enabled?.
Wondering if there's anything worth enabling in it?
I noticed there's fm transmitter on the 811 version.
for me so far, i changed "ro.build.target_operator=ATT" to OPEN to get rid of the annoying AT&T text in the notification/lockscreen, and changed DPI to 540. there's not much that's actually useful in the build.prop this time around

There is a record option in the build prop but it didn't enable it for me. Gotta be something else with it I bet.
Anyone with a sprint g4 manage to edit the build.prop without bootloop? Every time I modify the build.prop (dpi or enable/disable anything) it will just keep looping
What app do you guys use to modify the build.prop file? When using root explorer, it just tells me that the file is too large so nothing will be saved. I used to use 920 text editor, but it's no longer available in the play store

Might be framework related too. I remember using G2 and G3 tweakbox and you could enable it. Problem is this is the 4 and no xposed yet. I think it takes more to be able to add the button to the dialer.
Edit.. Actually the more I think of it, enabling it in the build might be what works, but it's just a matter of adding a physical functioning button to start record.
