[Q] Branded one x drive space - HTC One X

When i bought my contract and phone the description clearly says that the one x has 32gb internal space, but using androids own space meter aswell as other apps that show actual space i have a total of 12Gb. I asked tmob on twitter and they said i should have 32gb and told me to go into one of their stores if i have a concern, but as i live an hour and a half away from one i don't really want to do that.
Do i have a duff phone or are the specs wrong for the phone ive seen?

Try factory reset.

Ive done a FC a few times since getting it, no difference.

I guess you are still on ICS. There was a bug in mass storage mode where if your unmount wasn't clean you could lose exactly 1gb of space.
It wouldn't appear as used space. It would just be gone.
Unfortunately this can happen repeatedly.
At one point i had lost 7gbs of my internal storage.
The easiest solution for me was to backup the sdcard partition then reformat it.
Then the space comes back

Its been 12gb since i got the phone, before root etc.

Are you sure you don't have a 16GB HOX? What does the box say?

The box does say 16gb on it, but the tmob store says 32gb when i ordered it and they confirmed it was 32gb from my order.
I think i shall have to get back onto them.

I think you should indeed, it sounds like you have been a victim of mis-selling to me. Do you have paperwork that specifically states 32GB then? They don't have a leg to stand on...

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/pay-as-you-go/htc-one-x-payg/
Think they misled you there...On the website, they only provide the 16GB version on both Contract, and PAYG. So this is most likely the same, if you got it from a T-mobile store.
If from a Non-Network specific store e.g. Phones4U or CarPhone Warehouse...You'd have most definately got a 32GB One X on the T-Mobile network.

I got it as a contract upgrade through tmobiles website, it definitely said 32Gb as i knew i would need that much and would not have had the 16gb knowingly.
Annoyingly the order confirmation and despatch notice do not state anything other than the price.
The only proof really i have is that i was told on twitter by direct message that i definitely have the 32gb version.
They have only changed the website to say "one x 16gb" recently, before it only said "one x" with 32gb internal space.

Yeh i have, ive got a couple of market apps to see actual total space but they all say 12gb (with 8Gb used total by me/system).
Tmobile said i should go in store to talk to an adviser, very unhelpful. I have a feeling they are going to try to rip me off.

Why does US Galaxy Nexus get 32GB ??

I just realized.....
The Verizon version not only gets LTE but it ALSO GETS 32GB !!!
While the rest of the world has to pay the same $650 for no LTE and 16GB !!
WTF
I feel the GSM should have been 32GB....
If you are on TMo or AT&T you are 16GB. Not that I care too much it seems to be enough.

Well there's no LTE version for non-US countries because the US is the only country that has a carrier thats quite far along with LTE. Its not even close to being launched across Europe right now.
It probably gets 32gb storage at the same time because the device already has to be thicker for the LTE chipset, so now they have room for extra storage.
Pretty sure the GSM version has an expansion SD card slot

Does not. But you can buy the 32GB version from stores if you want. It's roughly ~1000 usd here in Romania.
Eg: http://www.pcgarage.ro/telefoane-mobile/samsung/i9250-galaxy-nexus-32gb-black/ available in 7 days after order. (use google translate to view the site)
Operators and other sites selling the Gnex have just the 16GB version on stock, but other shops can provide the 32GB aswell. Prolly they don't have it on stock as it carries quite a hefty price tag

16gb and 32gb take up the same physical space. The issue is cost.
EDIT: nevermind

Not if they just used 2x 16gb cards instead of 1x 32gb (cut cost). But I'm sure theres an iFixit teardown that proves whats under there. More than likely, it was at Verizon's request that they made it 32gb to put it in line with its other $299 LTE phones.

32gb version is up for pre-order on plenty of sites. It hasn't been sold yet because no one has them, and there's no indication that they ever will get them. We're probably stuck on 16gb for the GSM version.
1) This is not new news
2) The GSM version costs the same because you an use it on multiple carriers. I can literally take the T-Mobile SIM card out of my phone, reboot it, and put an ATT SIM card in it and make a call. That alone is worth extra $$$ in my opinion.
Unlocking a phone and allowing you to use it on any carrier AND having carriers let you use it is enough. I'm pretty sure someone had to fuss up money to allow it.

Agreed. The fact that this is 5-band HSPA+ at 21mbps far outweighs LTE on a single (overpriced) carrier. If I get fed up with T-Mobile (or just want to try out ATT) there isn't a thing in the world stopping me from hopping back and forth.
32gb and/or sd ftw!

yeah, it $ucks that the 32GB version is only able to work in one carrier. I miss the days when I had an unblocked phones and I was switching between AT&T and T-mobile every month.
(yeah, the above is sarcasm)
If you take a look at the teardowns, the Verizon version's internal layout is significantly different from the GSM version's layout. To make room for the LTE chipset the SIM card slot and the flash memory chip are moved off the motherboard onto a daughterboard that stacks on top of the motherboard (hence the extra thickness), the mini-SIM slot is changed into a micro-SIM slot, and the Samsung 16GB flash+512MB LPDDR2 RAM combo module is changed into a SanDisk 32GB flash module, and another 512MB LPDDR2 RAM package is added to the motherboard to maintain 1GB of total RAM. Motherboard layout-wise, they are totally different devices.
So the GSM version will work on nearly every single GSM network in the world?
The rest of the world also got the Galaxy SII while the U.S. had to wait for months. Id say we're even now.

I Could be wrong but the Galaxy Nexus is petaband (5 bands) so yes it will work on any GSM band in the world, some carriers sell it unlocked like mine (Bell) others sell it locked so it needs to be unlocked to work on other carriers but it will work.

just curious I know the GSM works on every GSM carrier anywhere in the word, but what about the LTE version ? i know it is for USA Verizon and it is CDMA but does it have other GSM frequenies to work on the GSM bands ? I can take my GSM version to anywhere in the world pop a local SIM in and it works, what if I have the Verizon unit travel outside the USA will the LTE work ? or am I stuck to use it only in the USA for Verizon ?
Now I'm on an unlimited data plan music and pictures don't take up any space on storage so the only thing taking up space on my storage now is rom manager backups

... And you can stream videos from Netflix and/or the Market, keep (a few of) your files in Dropbox, upload your photos to Picasa, Google+, etc... Rooted users can even back up their apps to dropbox using Titanium Backup (I even used TiBu's dropbox integration feature to backup my USER apps from my Fascinate and restore them on my Gnex). Cloud storage is the wave of the future.
That said, local storage is far from being obsolete, and my sympathy goes out to those who only have 16gb to store the HD videos they recorded. Plus, if you have a data cap and slower-than-LTE speeds, it sucks not to have expandable storage...
Has anyone seen John Connor?

Is the M8 32gb on Tmobile?

I checked the site and the smallest ROM is 32gb.

Yes- The only available option (or at least the only one I was given) was 32GB.
Cheers!

Sir i have the same issue as yours. Try checking my thread. I've discussed it with other people regarding my issue. Im from philippines and i dunno if a lot of customers here are experiencing it or if they are not aware. I talked to the store where I bought this and they cant explain well to me. They are even diverting me to the internal memory -_-
Anyways what they did was to redirect me to talk to a customer service agent at another mall. And then the customer service agent found out by testing 2 stock phones (32gb type of G3s). 1 phone got 2gb ram, the other got 3gb ram, do note both are 32gb type of phones.
Then after that, he just forward my concern to the main office.
Unluckily main office didnt do anything. They just re forward the issue to Korea. So im stuck this whole weekend waiting for Korea to reply and wait for the results on Monday.
Actually they were not even aware of this issue. Even the store, the customer service, nor the main office.

[Q] 32GB vs 16GB

Greetings everyone,
I am looking at buying a new Tab S, probably the 10.5 inch, in the next few weeks (waiting on Black Friday).
I was wondering if the 32 GB version was worth the extra money. I plan on getting a 128GB micro SD card to hold video's and music and whatnot.
So, what does everyone think?
Cheers
Wendell
Is 144GB enough ...... or do you need 160GB?
I get by with 144.

I heard he was selling camping equipment these days and living in a Hippy Harem?
Depends on what apps you load. The memory on board is for programs, not all programs or data will run properly on the external. An example is my favorite, Co-Pilot Live. It's a GPS program that downloads all maps. Google you say??? We'll internet does not reach everywhere. Just this week I was on i95 between GA and SC and Verizon went down for all svc for 1 hour. No maps, no calls. Then head to the mountains or other places....
The map for North America is over 2.1 gig. You can not put it on the external memory. I have it on all my android devices.

[Q] 64GB unlocked?

So, I recently bought a pair of these for the wife and kid.
I purchased what was listed as 32GB Unlocked for $199 from big A.
Today what arrived in the mail was a pair of 64GB phones running 3.6.8 (the unlocked OS version).
Has this happened to anyone else?
Is it possible to confirm this is unlocked?
No SIM was installed or provided (makes sense given it is supposed to be unlocked)
Battery/Storage reports:Your Files: 1.42Gb, Free 51.93 GB
That would seem to indicate it certainly is 64GB internal
I did not see any carrier branded software in the apps tray.
EDIT: Saw 2 reviews on Amazon since I posted the question about it. So it appears some orders of the US 32GB unlocked are getting 64GB unlocked versions.
Linkified the reviews as backing data (both are this past week):

Hi I also got an unlocked 64gb, the barcode on the box scans as a 32gb phone, so there must be a few rogue phones around
I was concerned that the 64GB Fire phone I received might not be unlocked, so I called Amazon. The support tech verified that I did in fact receive a 64GB version and that it is unlocked. She also said that if there's a problem using a SIM card, I could return it "as defective" within a year.
One of the big complaints about the Fire phone is its lack of the Google Play Store which severely limits the number of apps available. After reading through several of the reviews at Amazon, I found the steps one can use to sideload it. (Can't post a link yet, so look in the review entitled, "Here's how to install Google Play Store and change home screen!" by Jason Singleton.) I haven't done this yet. My fear is that a "pure" Android app may not be completely compatible with the Fire OS. There are comments in the reviews at Amazon from people who sideloaded Google Maps and report that the street names are often illegible.
If there was a 16GB Android phone with an expansion card slot and comparable camera available for the same price, I think I'd buy it instead of the Fire to avoid the app hassle. However, to get a 64GB phone plus a year of Amazon Prime, along with unlimited cloud storage and automatic backup to it for $199, well, I can put up with that issue.
Lucky you! I bought mine from swappa and knew I was getting a 32GB.. But after reading your post I slightly let myself down by checking my available storage in hopes that I would be one of the lucky ones. Hah
