Lock screen pin? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I added a pin to my phone, but it doesn't work every time. Plus I can still open email, camera, etc from the lock screen. How are you guys securing your phones from people accessing your info?

What is a pin?

You have to set a lock time in the menu where you set the lock combo

A pin is a lock code. For example your atm card had a pin number when u use it

Personal Identification Number

So I never got an answer. How come I have pin or pattern lock on but it does not work every single time I turn screen off then Bck on? In must be doing something wrong. Also does encryption setting have anything to do with the lock screen? Why do the instructions say it can take a hour or more to setup? What will it do?

I don't, mainly because I lock my phone whenever it goes into my pocket

I'm 100% stock and this happens too. But yes its only when I get a text message or whenever my screen comes on while in my pocket.

Yup, I turned the feature off. More annoying than anything.

(Q) App to lock turning off the device with pin?

Hello peeps.. quick question.. does anyone know if there is an app that will prevent the user from turning it off with the power button? Pretty much requires a pin to turn off the phone.. any ideas?

I don't think so. But there was one that locked out certain apps. And what you could do is map the power button to say a camera button or totally disable it, then use an app from the market that would turn the screen off. With the password app locking the screen off app. ... hope you followed

Stuck orientation in landscape

Sometimes when I'm using the phone to watch videos, when I back out for whatever app I'm using the phone will go back to portrait orientation when at the home screen, but when I open another app it goes directly into landscape even when I'm holding the phone in portrait. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? It fixes itself after I restart the phone. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Do you have smart stay enabled?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I just unchecked that, is that the problem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Well the smart stay senses your face and if it thinks that your looking at the screen it won't change orientation regardless of how it's rotated. I

I have also read in some places that it is a but that we got from the last firmware update.

I know it was doing it to me before I checkrd the smart stay. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't hardware related.

The smart stay was turned off and the problem is still there.

Camera access without unlocking first

Hi is there a way to access the camera without having to unlock the phone.

What are you saying?

I don't know how much clearer I can make the question.
I'd like to be able to take photos while the phone is still locked with a pattern.
This is a common feature on many other phones now. For example HTC one or S4.
Presently I'm on stock. I have to enter my pattern to be able to access the camera app.

Hold your finger on the last dot of your pattern for a second, you'll get a couple widgets including camera

You can also set your quick memo button to be the camera. As long as phone is on you should be able to use the button.

Changing password

Does anyone know how to change the password or remove a password for the screen unlock? I don't see anything in the security area that allows you to make changes to it.
