Music widget on Sparkplug ROM?Hi - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Cudnt ask this in the ROM thread so hope someone here can answer. Flashed the latest Sparkplug ROM. While setting up my screen I noticed there wasnt a music app. I thought maybe I froze it but the ony thing available is a music widget. When I expanded the zip using 7zip I see data/app contains htcmusic.apk but cannot find it anywhere on my phone. Cannot access the widget from the home screen widget setup cause its not listed as a widget.

That may have been removed or broken in the process of optimizing the ROM (I can't speak for the developer, hopefully he will have a better answer). For now, you can install something like Google Play Music which works well on Sense ROMs. The only thing it will lack that the HTC music player has is lockscreen controls.
Edit: You say htcmusic.apk is in /data/app/ ? It should be in /system/app/ to work, if my thinking is correct.

I think I know what the problem is. You need to boot into recovery, format /system, then re-install the ROM.
back story:
I managed to pick up another inc today and flashed Sparkplug to it, I'm planning on setting it up for my wife. I had the same problem, music and many other of the HTC sense apps were installed, though they did not show up in the menu, and the sense widgets didn't show up in the widgets menu either, something was definitely up with the Sense UI stuff, though the phone ran fine and some of the apps (like flashlight) worked just fine. I had rooted, downgraded, and gotten s-off, then installed the ROM. I had done a factory reset but I had not wiped /system, and that was the problem I think. I installed the ROM the first time with ClockworkMod recovery (I figured that would be needed for s-off to work).
Anyway, I installed TWRP recovery (because I like that better), wiped /system, cache, and dalvik, then installed the ROM again (did NOT do a factory reset this time). As I suspected, all the HTC apps are there and work now, including the music player. I highly doubt usinc TWRP or CWN will make a difference, but I think you need to format /system and reinstall the ROM.

Ok. I tried it. Formatted the system & reflashed. Music APK still was not available but the music widget was. Then I installed ADW launcher & the widget disappeared. So if I want music, I cant use ADW. Think ill just head on back over to touch of blue.

music.apk on Sparkplug
Noticed the same thing here. Anyone know where to get music.apk and how to properly install it? Thanks.
Edit: Never mind, found the answer. I can't post outside links yet so... Google "612827 need music apk file" and that should get you a link to androidforums.com. It's for the Galaxy but the file identified in comment #5 worked for me. Just ran it from my Internet browser using "file:///sdcard/Music.apk" and everything worked. Hope this helps the OP if he is still looking for an answer.

Problem loading widgets after a reboot

Hi guys,
I've flashed many roms many times and this is an issue i've never seen before and I haven't figured out how to fix.
I ran into this issue with CM7, Redemptive Revo 2.2, and Re-Engineered so it doesn't appear to be ROM specific. I also ran into the issue with LauncherPro, Go Launcher and ADW Ex so it doesn't seem to be launcher specific either.
Basically the issue is that after setting up my widgets and rebooting the phone, all the widgets will be gone. LauncherPro will tell me 'Problem loading widget' for every widget while Go Launcher will just not display them.
I've re-installed Revo after a full wipe, installed Go Launcher from the market and I still ran into that issue late list night so I'm really confused as to what could be causing this.
Has anyone ever ran into an issue like that? I'm not sure what more I could do, I did a full wipe (dalvik included), re-installed the launcher from the market (no titanium restore) and still after a reboot all the widgets are gone.
Thank you
You didn't per chance move your apps to the sd card, did you?

I do have an app partition on my SD card but I didn't manually move apps to the SD card. That being said though, I know some roms (CM7 for sure) automatically decide where an app gets installed so maybe some of them did get installed to the SD card.
I did a backup of my important files on my SD card and re-partitionned it. Hopefully that will fix the issue.
Well now I'm completely baffled... I wiped my SDCard, did a full wipe of the phone. Installed rEVOlution 2.2, installed my apps via appbrain, setup my widgets, rebooted, and after the reboot all my widgets are gone again...

Check to make sure Appbrain didn't put those apps back on your sd card (if they were even there to begin with).
Ahh I didn't think about that. I checked and the skin for my audio manager widget was on the SD card as well as my poker game. Maybe the fact that the widget was using a skin on the SD card caused the launcher to have issues loading the widgets.
I rebooted twice and the widgets reloaded fine every time so that might have fixed it.
Yea Widgets can't be on the SD

Sorry to bump an old thread here but, pray tell, would any of you guys know of a solution/workaround for someone who has just the exact same problem, but with widgets which are ALL stored in the onboard memory (along with all the other ~650 apps that I already find essential -and this just because I'm waiting to get my class-10 32Gb microSD tomorrow to transfer them to a sd-ext2 partition, don't want to repeat the same process of moving all those apps one by one again.. And even with all that the DS still has more than 250Mb available with the default partition layout. Gotta love this thing. ^^) ??
Been looking everywhere, but no one seems to have a guaranteed, sure-fire, bulletproof way of getting rid of this annoying bug..
(Or I'm just looking in the wrong places -or handling it like a noob. Could very well be. I've had that DS for barely a month now, but it caused me more than half this time period's nights to be totally sleepless, spending the night away tweaking it just right.. xD And now that I was reaching near perfection, this stupid bug pops out of its box ! )

[solved][Q] widgets problem

Hi guys,i've just ran into a problem, whenever i install a new app and try to add it's widget to the homescreen i cant find them!i installed and re-installed many apps n even wiped cache but still no new widgets added to the widget list
Can someone please help me?
Thanks in advance
Every app doesn't have a widget. Read from the market description if it's even supposed to have a widget and then report back.
Thanks for you're help Hawks556,in the market it does say it has several widgets, and to be specific its PlayerPro..and to explain more i had PowerAMP and i uninstalled it,after i discovered this this problem i re-installed back and also it didn't have the widgets although its used to..
I appreciate you're help
Allright, just had to make sure there aren't any confusions. Tried the PlayerPro app myself and I have no problems with thi widgets. What rom are you using?
I am using Android Revolution HD Beta4 (gingerbread) and i didn't have any problems so far..sorry to trouble you my friend
Have you tried wiping dalvik cache from recovery?
Yea i tried that but also no result
The apps aren't installed on the SDcard by any chance?
Man you are my hero!i just moved them to the phone and the widgets showed up!i was just about to do a full wipe and re-install everything!thank you very very much!but just so i know, why didn't they show when they were on the SD carf?
I'm not sure about the exact reason but I think it's just built like that. It takes a while for the phone to initialize the sd card when you boot (you can see the icon in the statusbar). This in turn would probably result in some errors when loading the widgets from the sdcard as it's not ready yet. I hope you can make some sense of this
P.S. you can always hit the thanks button
Man am really thankful for ur help, and be sure i will press that button as soon as am back to my laptop,am using xda app right now..
Again,thank you

[Q] Uncommon Sense won't recoqnice Google account.

So in my ever continuing quest to find a ROM that works for me I think I may have finally found it, Uncommon Sense 1.1 I think it's an older ROM but it's exactly what I'm looking for, the stability of Sense but the launcher and lock screen look like AOSP Android. I flashed it last night and I loved it but I had a huge problem, so huge I went back and loaded a nandroid of my previous ROM, Senseless rEVOlution. When I loaded the ROM for the first time I loaded the ROM it wouldn't let me enter my Google account information. The option to do so was greyed out and when I tried to select it nothing happened, though it still let me enter the information for my Comcast.net email account. Then when I tried to open the market and the Gmail apps I immediately was sent back to the home screen, I didn't even get a forced close error. I went into settings>accounts and sync and found no option to add a Google account. I checked all my running applications but there was no opstion to update or uninstall the market (version 2.2.7). As a last resort I went to the web based market to download Astro file manager to my hone but it said that it was already installed and wouldn't let me install it again. I tried downloading another file manager (I forget what it's called) but it never downloaded to my phone. Finally I jut got fed up and restored my nandroid of Senseless rEVOlution. Not only did everything work the way it should but that other file manager had downloaded to my Senseless rEVOlution nandroid backup somehow. I really don't get it. I really want to use this ROM but this problem needs to be solved first. Doed anyone have know what the problem might be? Shoulf I unsync my Google account from Senseless rEVOlution and flash Uncommon Sense again?
Oh and I should mention that I culdn't get any of the apps and widgets that were installed, like the HTC colck widget, to recognixe my location. This too was fixed upon loading the Senseless rEVOlution nandroid.
Sounds like that the GAPPS weren't (aren't?) installed in Uncommon Sense 1.1? Try redownloading it from XDA and don't do the install if it is listed in ROM Manager. Flash the zip. Do a full wipe - factory user data reset/dalvik cache a few times, then flash the zip and see what happens.
Thanks RMarkwald. I flashed the ROM without the gapps package and everything now works like it should. This really is an old ROM, it even comes with the really old version of the market brfore it was redesigned (it has since updated to the most recent version). My only concern is that it is so old that my phone wants to install a system update, and with ll the recent talk about carriers cracking down on root users and Verizon tracking who is rooted and who isn't by tracking who;s phone takes updates and who;s doesn't I'm reluctand to take the update yet I can't get my phone to stop notifying me about it. Other then that great ROM.
There was a fix to get rid of that, I don't remember what it was but most devs have incorporated it into roms now. I'll look around but do a search for like remove OTA update notification or something to see what you find.

You can use Skyraider 3.5 with the uncommon pack, it adds the launcher, app drawer and status bar of uncommon. It doesn't have musicmod, but it has pretty much everything else.

Custom alarms/ringtones suddenly vanished/inaccessible

EDIT: Fixed! Posted solution for others' reference is here: My Solution
A few days ago, in the middle of the day (I don't believe I did anything, in between the phone acting normal and this issue coming up, more significant than installing the official Twitter app and setting up notifications for tweets from one specific account within it. I've since uninstalled that app, but it didn't fix this issue; no idea if it's even to blame), my Nexus randomly decided to 'forget' all of my custom alarms and notifications. In the alarms section, the "Ringtone" for each of my alarms changed to the name "298" and sounds like a generic alarm clock beep, unlike any of the default alarms you can choose from on the phone:
(At this point, I'd love to share the screenshot I took to show what I mean, but the forum won't allow me to post any outside links until I've made 10 posts, so I hope my text description is clear enough)
When I tap "Ringtone" to try and re-instate one of the .mp3 files I had put in my "Alarms" folder, only the defaults are available to choose from (and, again, none of them sound like whatever this 298 is either, which is weird).
Astro has no trouble 'seeing' my .mp3's in the "Alarms" folder, so it isn't like the phone suddenly lost awareness of the files themselves.
What in the word could cause something like this, and is there any way to fix it?
The only customizations I'm using are a (I'm sorry, I can't remember which) custom ROM of Jelly Bean that was 'normal' except for being pre-rooted (and a few other 'back-end' things like deoxy-whatever, heh), and a mod to change how the battery looks.
Help?
Not sure what the rules on bumping are, but I have a feeling that from the level of activity, if I don't bump it now, it will never be seen by anyone who could possibly help me fix this problem again.
Radomly? Ummm, try flashing stock rom to see if the problem persists.

I have a feeling resetting everything will fix things, but I consider that a last resort, because of how much work it'd take to restore everything to the way I have it...

Try re-flasing the current rom without wiping your data/factory reset
1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe cache
3. Wipe dalvik cache
3. Install the rom
4. Install gapps
5. Reboot

I have to track down what ROM I used again (it was from this site), then...also, what's "gapps"? I don't remember ever installing that--maybe that's one of the things that the ROM I used already included?

I think its bigixie. Then you don't have to install gapps (google applications package - play store, talk, gmail, etc)
Don't forget to do a nandroid back first.
I have the same exact problem.
My two custom ringtones are not seen by any Music Player and I can't set them as ringtones but I see them in Solid Explorer.
Fixed!
So my friend suggested something that randomly worked. I plugged the phone into my PC, going into its storage as a media device, blah blah blah, and copied my Alarms, Ringtones (my ringtone had also 'vanished'), and Notifications folders to my PC, then deleted them off the phone, then moved them back from PC to the phone.
Voila, all was well again.
I still think that Twitter app had something to do with it...it's the only thing of significance I had done with my phone that day, and the only thing I did that day that I had never done with my Nexus before.
Wanted to post this so that others know of a (hopefully effective) solution if they have an issue like this.
Do you or did you have ROM Manager installed? If you do, that's the likely culprit.
It has a bug that does exactly what you describe. So if so, be sure to send them an email and tell them.

New to the android head units, what to do? Pumpkin KD-C0250 unit in question

only ever dealt with android products such as my tab pro, note 3/4. but just purchased and received my pumpkin kd-c0250 headunit.
had a quick look and seen someone recommend new/custom firmware.
Stock music player seems a bit **** too but integrates with the home screen which i tried with shuttle music player and that doesnt, unless its possible to add it as a wiget?
also im guessing a universal root for 4.4.4 should work to get me root access too?
just looking to see what others can recommend as a good starting point for making the headunit "better" all round. sorry if this gets posted once a day or anything

If you are new to Android, the first thing I would suggest is looking at replacing the Launcher. This will give you a lot more freedom
to add widgets for things like Shuttle and other apps you may want to try. I would also leave the ROM stock for as long as you can stand to do so. Take notes as you work with the stock ROM of the changes you would like to make, and search through the threads here to find if
you can make them without flashing to a custom ROM.
Rooting this unit is quite simple by using the temporary root method. Enter *#hct#root# as the password when opening System Settings.
DO NOT REBOOT. First go to the Play Store and Install the SUPERSU app by CHAINFIRE Once you have done that, let the system reboot,
and then go back to System Settings and enter the password adboff This will turn off the temporary factory SuperUser app, but you will still be able to use the CHAINFIRE SUPERSU app you installed to control root access of your apps.
I will say that if you want to jump in off the deep end, Malaysk has put together some awesome stuff.
I started with a DSA Rooted Stock Rom and installed APEX Launcher, mostly because it let me get started with a built in root,
and it also gave me 2 or 3 GBs to install other apps where the Stock ROM from the Factory only had a 1 GB partition.
Have Fun, and
Good Luck,
Rick
Sidenote:
the code *#hct#root# did not work with my KD-C0250, if it does for Harmonial i'de like to know
Installed one of the stock rooted Roms and entered the code and it worked. Dunno if it would have worked on the original rom.
There's as music app in the system/app folder. (Or is it /apk) at work and can't check.
That hash better layout for the library I like, but for the life of me I can't get it to open other than when it boots on startup with auto player from the likes of the headunit app.. Anyone got any idea on that front? Tried installing the apk and it does it successfully but no icon to open it, or even the option to open once done like with usual apks, just a "done" button

Oh ok, still on the original rom here, thanks for the info!
Still cant get my head around this music app thing.
the one that has an icon and is the only one i can open is the default "mtcmusic3" app.
the one that will start on boot with the headunit app is just called "music" and is in the system/app folder.
Info on the app when i check it out is "version 4.4.4-eng.meng.20150806.-211037". would really like to just run that as standard. but if i exit out of it at any point i can only seem to reopen it via booting the head unit again, no shortcut on the launcher to open it.
