T-Mobile Galaxy S2 Embryo 6 Discussion - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

" For those who have flashed Embryo before, know this already. EMBRYO Rom is a daily driver rom, if your intention is otherwise, please be good and move on, no need to waste a post in this thread. In addition, the ROM is infinitely customizable (toggle for everything) and packed with supercharged features on top of the Samsung TouchWiz ROM, via the ROMCustomizer. In effect, theming is going to be extremely sparse (currently the statusbar icons). If someone wants to provide me with icon sets for a consistent theme, I will be happy to make a zip."- mohan_kr of XDA ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074328 )
I tried this rom yesterday... and i gotta say it has some nice features..... it is an good ROM overall, i just couldnt get the 4G working .... or calls... i think if in the correct hands we can have ourselves another good TouchWiz ROM.
The boot animation is nifty... as well as the start up sound....
It also has the ripple effect enabler in the settings....
It comes with an ability to keep the screen on while you look at the phone because it recognizes eyes looking at the scrren ( not sure if it works )
camera seems to go into some kind of AT&T sync with a server which causes it to close once the connection doesnt occur.
It has the issue with the signal bars not showing, not sure if it was fixed in tweakwiz but i know a great dev could fix it.
You are assuming all the risk for flashing this. You have been warned.
FEATURES:
* [6.0] my insecure boot kernel. DO NOT FLASH ANY OTHER KERNEL.
* [6.0] Multiwindow (not working). Please disable in Display -> Settings.
* [6.0] Smart Stay (not working). But, all the platform binaries are patched, it will turn on, but face detection fails. Unfortunately, this leads into native JNI territory. will need some more time.
* [6.0] IMPORTANT: Screenshot keys remmapped to Power + Vol down.
* [6.0] Full 23-toggle treatment. (Use the advanced setting app to customize).
* [6.0] Configurable Extended Power Menu (including ScreenShot and Data Mode). Go to ROMCustomizer for configuration.

* [6.0] statusbar: AOKP style statusbar clock configuration (including color).

* [6.0] Note-2: Gallery2 integrated.
* [6.0] Bunch of Easter Eggs in WiFi Advanced Settings Menu. (Please let me know if somethings does not work).
* [6.0] contacts: disabled permanently, ATT subscriber check.
* [6.0] mms: read/send delivery reports.
* [6.0] mms: bumped recipients to more than 10, although it is network provider dependent.
* [6.0] mms: bunch of options in MMS settings, too many to list here.
* [6.0] network: preferred network mode setting enabled (requires SIM unlock and RAT unlocked radio).
* [6.0] network: Native tethering enabled, important this will piggyback on your existing APN, not the standard ATT tethering APN.
* [6.0] network: bluetooth tethering enabled.
* [6.0] network: Internet calling enabled.
* [6.0] dialer: Call barring enabled
* [6.0] dialer: toggle for Exit to Home on End Call.
* [6.0] dialer: toggle for Ascending RingTone.
* [6.0] dialer: Voice call recording enabled.. You have to hit the menu button in the In call screen. The recording can be played back via the VoiceRecorder app.

* [6.0] Lockscreen: toggle for Ripple Lock.
* [6.0] Lockscreen: toggle for quick pin unlock.
* [6.0] Lockscreen: toggle for landscape mode.
* [6.0] Lockscreen: toggle for wake on volume keys.
* [6.0] Lockscreen: long press volume buttons for music control (only for Sammy Music Player).

* [6.0] system: toggle for boot sound, animation.
* [6.0] system: toggle for shutdown sound, animation.
* [6.0] system: toggle for activating and deactivating init scripts. (Note: the init scripts are disabled by default).
* [6.0] system: CPU underclock only. I/O scheduler setting.
No known major issues except for the ones listed here:
ISSUES :
* MultiWindow is currently experimental. It is a work in progress, please disable it in Settings -> Display.
* Smart Stay and Smart Rotate: I have patched the neccessary files. But face detection is not working, I believe I need native hacks for this. Hopefully, Sammy will have it for us.
* During First boot, there might be a race condition where ROMCustomizer needs root permissions and has initiated its set on boot scripts execution. It is rare, but might happen. This is harmless, open up SuperSu and Grant the permissions.
THANKS TO:
- mohan_kr for this ROM
- Samsung ofcourse, for doing a phenomenal job with the stock rom.
- wanam and lidroid for the 23 toggle mod.
- battery mod thread for the battery mod.
- Nexus 7 bootanimation, thanks to obtained
- AOKP (and CM) for ROMCustomizer inspiration.
Installation:
BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! BACK UP ! DID I SAY BACK UP ! YOUR CURRENT ROM? OKAY.. LEGGO!
Step 1) Make a Nandroid backup !
Step 2) Did you do Step 1)???? Do it now, already.
Step 3) Make sure you downloaded BOTH the required Packs ( PACK ONE, http://d-h.st/HBp PACK TWO: http://www.rdtk.net/files/Embryo6/02-ATT-SGH-I727-EMBRYO-6.0-core-data-cwm.zip) (PACK THREE OPTIONAL* http://d-h.st/pF7 ) for the ROM (check MD5SUM) onto your sdcard.
Step 4) If you want the bloat pack, download and move it to your sdcard.
Step 5) Boot into recovery.
Step 6) Format /system (usually in mounts and storage menu option)
Step 7) Format /data
Step 8) wipe data and cache partition
Step 9) Did you do Step 6, 7, and 8? If not, STOP, do NOT proceed.
Step 10) Choose the core pack (the one that starts with 01-...) and install. DO NOT BOOT YET
Step 11) Next, choose the data pack (the one that starts with 02-) and install. DO NOT BOOT YET, if you have optional pack.
Step 12) Next, install any optional packs (like the bloat pack, if you need ATT and Samsung bloat).
Step 13) Good, now reboot and LET IT WAIT till everything is installed. Do NOT touch and mess around with any keys. Your installation went fine, if you see the bootanimation and then the touchkey lights up (dalvik cache being built) and then installing applications screen shows up. If the touchkey's don't light up you are hosed, bad flash, reattempt!! Same thing if the installing applications do not show up.!

how install...?

I just installed this. Havnt tested the radio yet. But love the features, especially the volume button to skip music with the music widget! And the center clock!
This only needs a blue/black theme. Inverted gapps should work on this right?

Hopefully in the right hands this can be brought over entirely to our Hercules.. once I get home I will look at this ROM hopefully I can do something to it. Although it says that theming is hard to do or something...

Been running for a day don and it is much smoother and much more feature rich than the current leak based Roms in our Dev section..

What radio works for this rom and enables us to use 4g and call?

Blaze lb7 and lf4 radios

There is a ril_test.zip by blackwing floating around - flash it and you will be able to use any t989 radio
I'm on tllg2 right now and 4g working quite good so far (2 days)

Still running smooth here. It may seem like a dumb question but do you think the inverted gapps would work on this

Signal bars only don't show with T-Mobile radios. If you use a Skyrocket radio, signal will show the right way.

Probably. Flash them after you flash the ROM.

So what is this ROM? How is it different than a regular ROM? I see there are a lot of cool features which are not actually implemented (like multi-view).

those who have installed this on Hercules...what issues have u seen so far. ??

Wow this ROM really is bad ass. People, stop asking so many damn questions and just install the damn thing. You want regret it. Best Touchwiz 4.1 ROM out ATM.

This post is for the AOKP ROM from the Desire Z section
Another port from me. I would like to give thanks to the following:
-adamz667 - his ROM is used here. thanks to him for letting me port it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642443
-blackwing182 - used his ROM as a base, thank you for that
-Synthetic.nightmare - for helping me get wifi working and for the kernel, creamed coconut and frosted cherry
-Mr.Highway - for his port guide. you guys should use it and give him thanks
-all the other devs that helped me (you know who you are )
I wont be concentrating on this ROM as much as the CM9 one. do not expect me to solve all problems. thank you.
this is mainly for those who wanted nav buttons in a ROM. my CM9 port doesnt have it, but this AOKP one does, so should be fine. its a bit more buggy than the cm9 one, but should be alright for daily use
now onto the ROM:
adamz667 said:
I would like to present you Android Open Kang Project builds for HTC Vision.
Rom is based on Android 4.0 (ICS) and have a lot of customization options.
It's also DEV thread, so if you have a some problems with rom, first, try to find fix by yourself. If you can't - add post with description of your problem and LOGCAT.
Any help is welcome
I don't do this for any purposes, I just want to learn something new, so if you want to thanks thnk about AOKP Team and/or Andromadus Team
Special thanks goes to AOKP dev team (Team Kang) and Andromadus Team!

a note about linaro (warning, tech mumbo jumbo ahead)
These builds do NOT include the new Linaro optimizations. The optimizations don't increase the speed of Android by 100%, nor do they inject butter. They use a newer toolchain to compile Android, which has more optimizations. The Linaro people have also made the proper changes in Android code to allow builds to be compiled with -O3 instead of -O2 flags (think of it as another pass of code optimizations).
Please do not ask us whether we will include them in the future. We like speed as much as the next guy, but we want to make sure that it doesn't break ANYTHING. When/if it's ready, you'll know.

use the above quote for some info. for fixing, dont expect me to be able to fix all things
other things that work specifically for the myTouch 4G:
-wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc.
-trackpad wake
-camcorder: can record in 480p, CIF, and QVGA mode. DO NOT record in 720p mode or it will cause the camera to crash and not load. only fix will be to reboot your phone, so be careful. FFC records as well, only in CIF or QVGA mode.
-camera flash works fine
-nav buttons are in! if you want tablet mode ui*, see above quote. also, nav buttons require a special DPI, so see above. *tablet mode may not work for our phone, since this is a port. if it does work, thats good! whoever wants to test it, be my guest. also nav buttons are buggy. the glow doesnt disappear
-idk if netflix works, so tell me please <- confirmed it works by one person so far
-instagram works
-temple run loads, and i was able to play it. could represent that all games are playable, not too sure
-editing phone number is included out of the box. just flash, and its there
bugs:
-i do not know if themes work well with build 38. test out please
-please tell me
-do not flash wifi calling fix right after flashing the ROM. flash the ROM and everything else EXCEPT the wifi calling. after it boots up, then you can go ahead and flash wifi calling
-SMS notification not showing, so here's a fix: get the cm9 mms.apk and replace the aokp one
Instructions:
1. wipe data, system, etc.
2. flash ROM
3. flash gapps (http://goo.im/gapps - use/download CM9 one if you do not already have it)
4. flash AOKP port from Vision FFC fix v2
for updates, make sure to flash the files mentioned above. also, i do not think a full wipe is needed, but if problems arise, then full wipe. thanks
Optional:
1. flash a different kernel (link down below)
2. flash ICS BW Emoji for some black and white emoji in the system! cant send with emojis though
3. flash AOKP port HDPI Mms NewLine mod (or whatever name it is) - pressing enter will create a new line in text message (its in AOKP extras in dev host)
link to ROM & required files: http://d-h.st/users/chickenfactory/?fld_id=2739#files - Milestone 6 (latest)
link to kernels: http://d-h.st/users/chickenfactory/?fld_id=2744#files (i recommend the aospX frosted cherry kernel)
link to extras: http://d-h.st/users/chickenfactory (do not flash speakerfix. thats may be only for cm9)
one more thanks: thanks to all of you, community! enjoy the ROM port

[ROM][PORT][AOKP]blindICE/blindBEAN port
This post is the blindICE/AOKP Jellybean
*i do recommend the above port, since it has mostly everything working. theyre practically the same thing (to me), but i could be wrong. anyone can tell me the differences would be good
First off I would like to thank the following:
-blindndumb - for letting me port the ROM http://www.blindndumb.com/

-Mr.Highway - for his porting guide
-the other devs
-my testers: jamkul and exemp30
This ROM was a request from a user, so I made it for him and sharing it with you all
what works (blindICE only):
-camera and camcorder (480p and below for back camera; FFC: CIF or QVGA)
-the main things
bugs (blindICE only):
-trackpad isnt fully working. can only scroll, but cannot click an app or whatever
-you tell me
-be sure to flash another kernel. the wifi will not work. i must have messed up on the kernel for the ROM. without flashing another kernel, wifi wont work
-do not flash wifi calling fix right after flashing the ROM. flash the ROM and everything else EXCEPT the wifi calling. after it boots up, then you can go ahead and flash wifi calling
-SMS notification not showing, so here's a fix (or do not check this setting): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28438030&postcount=136
-this is more of an AOKP bug: top left hand corner of notification pulldown, date is not present. only way to fix this is to enable weather and enable weather panel
Instructions (blindICE only):
1. wipe data, system, etc
2. flash ROM
3. flash gapps
4. flash blindICE FFC v2 fix
5. flash blindICE trackpad fix
6. flash a different kernel (resolves the bootloop problems everyone has been having with my ports)
*steps 4-6 do not have to be in order
Optional(blindICE only):
1. flash wificalling rilfix
2. test: flash Phone.apk only for AOKP to change phone number under phone settings
3. test: for SIP calls, try adb push the android.software.sip.voip.xml file in my dev host to /system/etc/permissions
4. flash the ICS BW emoji file to have black and white emojis across the system (where supported)
5. flash AOKP port HDPI Mms NewLine mod (or whatever name it is) - pressing enter will create a new line in text message (its in AOKP extras in dev host)

AOKP Jellybean Builds (w/. 3.0 kernel):
Instructions:
1. flash ROM
2. flash gapps
3. flash LowMicFix.zip
Optional:
1. ICS Beats Audio v3
2. ICS BW emojis

what doesnt work (for AOKP Jellybean only):
-FFC
-idk what else

extras for blindICE:
-beats audio v3
-WiFi calling
-greek and chinese input. flashable zips. in dev host

Hmmm...either the lordmod or aospx one since both have smartassv2 as the governor. That's a good governor for a balance of performance and battery life. But if you want many governors to choose from, use aospx

Thanks. I am gonna try it and I will tell you my feedback about the ROM and the kernels.
I had a FCC when I wanted to switch to frontal camera and now I can not start the camera .It says "Unfortunately , Camera has stopped"

Did you flash the ffc v2 fix? Flash that first
Also clear camera data if you cannot start camera. If that doesn't work, reboot

CyanMobile help, requests, and general info

Everything CyanMobile
Well CyanMobile has really taken off and to help keep everything a bit neater and easier I have created this non-development thread. I will be posting instructions on just about everything here (This will be my free version of CyanMobile Settings Map and it will only cost you $5.99 LOL!).
I will start taking screen shoots of what the settings do and where they are to help assist everyone in setting this beast up. The options are numerous and most users will require hours of fiddling to find things and some will never find most of the cool features. So this should help everyone from the newest noob to the veteran users.
Also this will be where you can ask for help dealing with apps not included with rom, questions on settings, comment on your experience, and make requests (not saying all or any requests will be filled but it never hurts to ask).
While digging around in the source code I came across this from the SquadZone Team. It is a list of some of the features that are included in this rom.
What is CyanMobile?
CyanMobile is an aftermarket ROM like CyanogenMod, MIUI, JoyOS, LewaOS and others that are built from source...
Absolutely built from source based on CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread v2.3.7) and modifications from AOSP and AOKP
Thanks To CyanogenMod Team, AOKP Team, and AOSP Team for Their Work
**********************************************************************************************************************
** CyanMobile is Short of " *Cyan* (CyanogenMod) *Mob* (Mobiling) *I* (Improving) and *L* (Let's) *E* (Experiment)" **
**********************************************************************************************************************
All features are based on what users do and what users need with lots of improvements here and there
This ROM (optimized by Gingerbread) uses updates from other branches (like ICS stuff, AOSP and AOKP) with reverse
engineering or backporting skills
It can be used without any need to have any Google application (Gapps) installed..
Let us talk about what is in CyanMobile:

I will use this as the base of my CyanMobile Map. I have a bunch of screen shots and will be updating the OP over the next few days with this. Hope this helps yall setup your Rom with a bit more ease. Keep your eyes on this page and see what you can do with your new toy.
Major settings
Under Construction
How to answer incoming calls and how to change the way you answer them.
As most of yall have noticed if you have tried this rom this thing is a beast when it comes to customization. There are countless things you can do and one of them is change how your dialer works. Out of the box you dont have softkeys to answer or hangup your phone. You must hit the settings hard key to answer or dial and the back key to hangup. Sorry about not listing that till now but I forgot about it
How to setup some of the basic features
Changing how you answer your phone
1. Settings -- CyanMobile Settings -- calls
2. Check allow incall ui touch this will give you a ui to answer/reject calls (if you only uncheck the two above this then you will be unable to answer your phone)
3. Also you can recheck the two options to use the menu and back keys and then either the buttons or the ui will work
Setting up GPS
1. Settings -- Main Settings -- Location & Security
2. Check Use wireless networks
3. Check Use GPS satellites
4. Select GPS source then select Use Internal GPS
5. Last one is your choice (it does use your mobile data) Check Use assisted GPS
Second there is a built in a2sd but needs to be setup.
1. Settings-- development -- check mount SD on boot and enable download on SD.
2. Reboot
3. Settings -- applications -- preferred install location -- sdext
4. Settings -- cyanmobile settings -- check allow application moving
5. Select install location and choose sd-ext
6. Now reboot
From now on all apps will automatically be on sdext.
You can go into settings -- application -- manage applications
If everything was done correctly then you will have an option to move to sdcard and move to sd-ext/phone.
Now I know some of yall are getting tired of setting up this rom every time I put out a new release. While this wont save everything it will save most of our settings. Open CyanMobile settings and scroll over to Utilities and you will find options to back up and restore. Just follow their instructions.
To disable boot audio
Settings -- CyanMobile Settings -- Performance
Uncheck enable boot sound and reboot (I have tested and this does work)
A2sd style scripts will cause bootloops
Note on themes: so far every cm7 theme I tried works fine.
CyanMobile Settings
Well I am sure most of yall can figure out the normal settings so I will leave those out of this guide (unless I get requests for them).
I am going to start at the beginning and work my way through the settings. Some things might cover what has been posted in OP #1 but doing it this way will be easier for me. Also it should help to server as a better map for yall. I am taking pics as I am writing this so for now you will just see an insert message till I get them uploaded.
1. CyanMobile settings
2. First up is the Application tab
A. There are four listings here as shown above.
1. Allow application moving -- this must be enabled to use the built in a2sd program
2. Install location
a. Automatic -- system decides where to place apps
b. Internal -- this places apps on your /data partition
c. External -- this places apps in your .android_secure folder on your main sd partition (not a good option, will reboot when connecting mass storage.
d. SD-Ext -- this places apps on your sd-ext partition (best choice)
B. Use internal storage (this option is not for use and is grayed out)
C. Permission management -- this gives you the option to revoke or grant permission on a app by app basis
3. Calls tab
A. Smart phone call -- cool feature allows you to automatically dial a number when phone is placed near your ear (open contact, message or put number in dialer then put phone to your head and it dials)
B. Back button end call -- on by default
C. Menu button answers calls -- on by default
D. Allow Incall UI touch -- off by default -- selecting turns off options B + C (but you can enable them and have the option to use buttons or the UI) -- if you unselect this option it will automatically turn on options B + C (that way you will never be left without a way to answer calls)
E. Loop ringtone -- loops ringtone until call is answered or goes to voicemail (if not selected a short ringtone will only play once then stop)
F. Call Me Louder -- uses proximity sensor an will increase call volume when phone is inside pocket/bag/etc. (battery draining feature)
G. Vibrate during calls
H. Flip down to mute ringer -- battery draining feature
I. Flip down to snooze alarm -- battery draining feature
4. CPU settings tab
A. Current CPU frequency
B. Available governors -- changes governor
C. I/O scheduler -- changes I/O scheduler
D. Min CPU frequency -- allows you to set the lowest frequency the governor can use
E. Max CPU frequency -- allows you to set the highest frequency the governor can use
F. Max screen off CPU frequency -- limits screen off frequency -- if governor uses screen off freq then the lowest setting of the two will be used
G. Set on boot -- will restore setting after reboot/restart (only select after testing above settings -- that way you don't get stuck in boot loop due to too high/low cpu settings)
5. Display tab
A. Automatic backlight
1. Enable
2. Window length ( 2-60 seconds )
3. Reset threshold
4. Sample interval
5. Use custom
6. Screen dim level
7. Edit other levels
8. Allow light decrease
9. Decrease hysteresis
B. Screen-on animation -- animation when you come out of sleep
C. Screen-off animation -- animation when you go into sleep
D. Enable Bravia engine -- on by default (said to improve graphics)
E. Rotation animation
F. Window animation (this is not the only place to change this)
G. Transition animations (this is not the only place to change this)
H. Display Option -- changes the display size (evo 4G is 800X480)
I. Reset Display size
J. LCD Density (this can effect your market/playstore)
K. Clear Market data
L. Click to Reboot!
M. Reverse rotation -- used if your phone does not rotate correctly
N-Q. Used to enable/disable rotation settings 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees
6. Input tab
A. Input Tweaks
1. Haptic feedback tweaks
a. Haptic feedback main -- vibration when pressing softkeys and some UI interactions
b. Haptic feedback up -- vibration on release of key and some UI interactions
c. Haptic screen items -- vibration when making screen selections (haptic feedback up must be enable to use this feature)
d. Set Down Pattern -- make vibration patterns
c. Set Up Pattern -- make vibration patterns
d. Long-Press Pattern
e. Set Keypad Tap Pattern
2. Long-Press home settings
a. Show recent apps title
b. Number of recent apps
c. Quick home button -- when enabled pressing home shows recent apps (no long press required)
d. Task Switcher -- this is the app that makes it look like ics style recent apps (on by default)
e. Use custom application
f. Select custom application -- sets application used when long pressing home
3. Long-Press menu
a. Choose behavior -- a few preset options
b. Select custom application -- allows you to set app launched when long pressing menu
B. Search key behavior
1. Search key app
2. Custom application
3. Long-press search key
4. Custom application
C. Vibrate on shutdown
D. Volume rocker wake -- use volume keys to wake phone
E. Volume button music control -- long press vol+ to skip forward, vol- to restart/skip back (D and E can be enabled at same time so use care or you will wake the phone instead of changing tracks)
F. Camera button music control -- can be enabled but since we have no camera button it does nothing
G. Explorer Key -- another option you can change but since we dont have this key it wont do anything
6. Interface tab
(insert 27, 28, 29)
To be continued....

I am running it now and so far so good. I will upload to dropbox and send links via pm soon as I get all the governors added properly. For some reason Diablo is not showing up but I have hipkat and deathbysoap. The devil is in the details. LOL
crap wrong thread.
I will double check the setup. I am using a2sd right now without any problems. Must have mixed up or forget a step. Still trying to get all rom stuff straight and have not had much time for the setup part.
Edit:
Not sure what is going on with yours honda. I just tried it with my new beta 4.0 and it worked perfectly. I was on beta 3.0 dry and it had no problems with it either.
Work to be done
As I've said before " Great ROM " bout to make me update my SIG...LOL! It has had a couple problems, few RR, but still my DD! The usb connection makes it reboot? A2SD seems to not work? Most times it lags a lil then runs like a beast. I would love to try your KARA kernel! I'm hoping that these problems can be eliminated as I will be using this on my Phone as my DD until I upgrade. (which is when my evo dies) If you need any info from me or my device, just ask!
Guess I need A2SD installation instructions ..... wow I feel retarded.

Don't feel bad this is not your normal a2sd installation instructions are available at the top of this thread. I am glad your liking the Rom. Enjoy and as always feel free to contact me with any issues or questions.

Well just a thought but if you wanting DD's I would suggest doing a rental cause they dont look so good after a few years. Smaller is better with age. LOL.
I am checking the logs now. Just a thought but have you tried other cables or pc's. I use usb also and never had the reboot issue.
Edit:
Oh I see the problem. Should be an easy fix on your end. Looks like you have your apps moved to the sdcard and not the sd-ext partition.
1. open app manager
2. move all apps to phone
3. move apps to sd-ext
4. mount ums and see what happens
Yeah... renting is a good idea ( for more than that reason)! What about the Ferrai???
Got the Usb fixed Thanks to you!
4.0 seems to be even smoother so far! The settings an app combination make it a power house of a Rom! An the theme settings make it look sharp too!
Will be messing with the endless settings to see what way I can break this Rom!

Well the Ferrari is not the best idea either. First it is a drivers car meaning built for a track and can be very unforgiving to the average driver. Then the money factor expensive to purchase, insure, and maintenance is more than down payment on a new car. The corvette is a better choice you get performance and fuel economy how many cars can do 0-60 in the 4 second range and get almost 30 mpg on the highway? Plus if you are smart enough you can buy it use it for a year and then sell it for more than you paid for it. Try that with a Ferrari.
Well back on topic. Break what you can that way I can fix it. With each release I find less and less things to do to make this better. Enjoy!!
Damn man all I wanted was a Ferrari .... now I'm upset. Boo- who.
Anyway so far... the A2SD is working great, USB connection is working, FFC, HDMI, GPS every thing is working! First rom I've flashed in a while that has been 100% Evo 4G compatible.
P.S. : follow install an setup instructions ( might save the asprin)

[ROM] [4.2.2] (sprint lgog) unofficial ROOTBOX ( 8/06/2013 ) [aokp/cm/pa mixed]

RootBox is built straight from RootBox sources and always carries a very light installation with no extra/useless apps. This means, you can enjoy a pure Android experience combined with AOKP,CM, and Paranoid Android features; with some CM cherry-picks. Keep in mind Jelly Bean is only at the beginning stage of development and there will be minor bugs, but this ROM is working well enough to be called a daily driver. Thanks for flashing and please report any issues, logs, complaints, wanted additions, or anything within reason ( while following XDA rules)... Enjoy

Known Issues
these "fixes" are only necessary if you are experiencing problems
if experiencing mms issues try this:
MMS confirmed working for a few in IRC.. send receive should work now if you're lucky and can follow directions.
1. Delete telephony.db located at /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db ...Open ES File Explorer > Press the menu button > Settings > Scroll to the bottom > Make sure "Root Explorer" is checked > Click "OK" > navigate to the directory starting from "/" (you could prob do this with the CM file explorer too)
2. Delete messaging Data...From home screen > Press menu button > Manage Apps > "All" tab > Find Messaging > Press "Clear data" button
3. Reboot. Clear cache if you want.
GPS issues:
go back to stock rom or a stock based rom ( a back up is sufficient )
Get a GPS lock and keep it for a few minutes ( make certain you are getting a lock from GPS and not your network or WiFi )
Flash back to ROOTBOX
That should solve any GPS problems
Battery drain issues:
if your experiencing major battery drain there are a few things you can try i will list a few here....
turn wifi, gps, bluetotth, and sync off when not using it
turn auto-brightness off and adjust it to your liking
lower sceen time-out to 15 or 30 seconds
try installing an app like greenify or batteryguru that will shut down apps that are running in the background
try changing your govenor from performance to powersave with an app like faux enhancement or trickstermod
try lowering your max freq. from 15+ to something a little lower
turn things like daydream off if you dont use it
try using wifi more often if able 3g/mobile data will suck the battery dry in no time
try looking in task manager to see if you have rouge apps hanging out.. if you do stop them
Try flashing smoocha kernel can find it in the android development section for this phone
these in no way are guaranteed to get you more life but they are a start to getting better life..hell it cant hurt only make it better
Camera focus issues:
Double tap instead of single tap
Switch to a different mode then back..(switch to HDR then back, switch to panorama then back)
Try the script method posted below
Try a third party camera app
Or try this: a quick hack work-around to anyone who has auto-focus working but only for the 1st app launch.
using smanager
* Install and launch smanager
* Make a new script with this in it
killall mm-qcamera-daemon
killall com.android.gallery3d
am force-stop os.tools.scriptmanager
am start -n com.android.gallery3d/com.android.camera.CameraLauncher
* Click on the script. Set it as "favorite" and highlight "SU". Save
* Add a shortcut on launcher. Select SMShortcuts.
* Select Add one script shortcut. Pick your script. Change the name/image to whatever you want.
* Hit OK and profit.
Need to thank sputnikk23 & prowlingfox for this workaround
or try with tasker method

To do this, In Tasker:
Create a new Task called "Load Camera".
Click the + sign.
Click on Script.
Click on Run Shell.
Paste the following into the Command section (note that the first line is missing - that's on purpose):
Code:
killall com.android.gallery3d
am force-stop os.tools.scriptmanager
am start -n com.android.gallery3d/com.android.camera.CameraLauncher
Check the box next to Use Root - not sure if this is needed or not, but it works fine if it's checked.
Click the Tasker icon in the top left of the screen to accept the changes for the shell command.
Click the Tasker icon in the top left of the screen again to accept the changes to the Task.
Click on the Profiles tab.
Click on the + sign.
I called my Profile "Load Camera"
Click on "Application".
Select Camera.
Click on the Tasker icon in the top left of the screen to accept the selection.
Click on the task that you created in the first steps to tie the profile to the task.
Enjoy....
Give it a shot and let me know if it doesn't work for you, but it works just great for me.

I used the banks minimal but as long as your using a current 4.2.2 gapps I think you'll be good... But I'm not a frequent rootbox user so whatever gapps people were using in rlasalle'$ thread should apply here... today is actually the longest I've been on rb
I was on RB before switching to your AOKP.... Now I gotta decide whether or not to switch back. Since I'm running a fresh 6/29 AOKP build, I may just backup and flash RB. Then I have both! YAY!

I know this issue has been said, but want to put it out there since this is a new thread. I still have the camera image stretched when not on HDR mode. Flashed RB w/Banks minimal.

Yeah that's an issue that's known and I believe the gang is working on it... you can more or less conclude that this ROM will have all of the same bugs that all of our aosp ROMs have.... We are all building from teamlgog source... Except for the kernel in this rom..... which syn is a listed member in teamlgog's Github so in a way it's still using their source for that as well..... In short it is being looked into though I can't exactly speak for them since I'm not a member... but if anything gets fixed it will be included

Has anyone encountered no LED and no hardware key backlight? I can seem to get them working. Check MD5 on the file and it checks out. Full wipe before install. Aside from that Ioving this ROM.

Special Note!
I will only update this Rom a couple times since Official Nightlies have come out for our device.
Tip for those that want to use the new "Ok Google" feature without having to have Google Now open, make sure you are using Launcher and NOT Launcher 3 as your default launcher, found in Settings > Home.
Hmm, nice work. I'll give this a try to see how 4.4 performs as I'm still wary of the bugs which are still present
Going to give this a try as well. Thanks

Make sure you have Developer options enabled and check Root access setting, set it to Apps and ADB, by default on CM it is not set that way, I have no issues, I'm using CM's File Manager and can access full root, same with avast Firewall.

That's about average. For any rom, no matter the version, these days. Anyone with a lot more than that is not really doing much on their phone. Keeping screen timeout high, or watching a movie with screen dim maybe. If they were surfing web a lot or playing games, those apps would be there with higher percentages in gsam app sucker screen. not just android system and standby...etc on there.
Sorry, those aren't gsam screens, but same applies. There should be apps up near the top with "normal" usage.
Not trying to cause trouble.....but that's just unrealistic battery screen on time for average users.

No kernel settings changed from default and I'd agree with the 3-4hrs screen average for our device on most 4.3/4.4 based roms too, but there are a few things that I do that most likely increase my battery life some.
I turn off GPS and Mobile Data right after setup of rom, I'm always connected to Wi-Fi so they aren't really needed.
I don't use Google Now (no need for it), which I tested in the past and found it to be a huge battery drainer.
I keep my screen brightness set to 50% instead of auto, since I'm indoors most of the time.
That 5hr screen on time was from rom's first setup to just before charge, I'd say about 4hrs of that time was me using Flipboard and reading, and watching a couple videos, the other hour would of been rom setup and testing/playing with apps.
I think the rom is great, but I seems to have a few issues.
1. Extended battery charges slow and to a max of 54%
2. in calls the other end can't hear me very well (ear piece, wired headset and Bluetooth)
3. Some voice sms type apps don't play the incoming voice clip (heytell)
otherwise I like it, but I have to have those things :S
I am wondering, is there any possible way to get video recording on this ROM? Other than that I like it a lot and I am actually using it as my DD

[Discontinued] PORT ROM 7.1.2[T-560] & [T-561] ViperOS V5.1 for Galaxy tab E

clarification
this is a port rom, so it is likely that when you connect the device to the PC or via bluetooth it shows a different model, it is normal since it is a hybrid between the original rom and the port
the rom it on beta state so please report any problem
I'm not a developer, I only have some general knowledge, and experience porting rom, but I don't even have Linux installed
I leave the link of the original rom of the g360h that has almost the same hardware as the tab e, all the recognition for the creators of it

-Added widevine support(L3)
-Added binary files
v5
-Adjust dpi(all rom now sees like a tab)
-Some improvement on kernel to make more stable system(apps not crash)
-Added some binary stock 4.4.4 file to try to improve wifi and bluetooth problems
v5.1
-back to old kernel, seems more stable
-added tab s2 fingerprint, now safety net pass basic integrity check by default
-added some libs to adjust screen sensibility
This tablet is way out of safety net's league!
I've downloaded the first version of this port, and it worked way better than linage os 14.1. I'm going to try this now!
Porting TW based ROM (5.1.1)
Cool! Man, I'm porting TW based ROM which is android 5.1.1
Posible battery drain fix?
founded something interesting, the power_profile.xml under framework-res the file is that of the source ROM battery shows 2000 mha and not 5000mha maybe it is the reason for unestable battery i recompile framework with modded power_profile.xml just flash the zip an tell

That must be the reason for slow charge
@gitanillo87
Thanks for the port, can you give a brief description of the tweaks & customisations made in v2. I have flashed both v1/v2 & don't notice much difference between them, both filesizes are exactly the same. Both have been most stable and I've noticed no issues.

Hi there are not many differences between v1 an v2 only some tweaks on build.prop file, and some apks recompiled for a full deodex system
Maybe next weekend can't post v3 version of this rom with this changes:
-Added battery fix(now shows 5000 mha and no drain) need test a lot
-correct some binary files, causes inestability
-correct some permissions and symlinks missed
Battery: Devcheck: 2000 mAh before. Now, after fix it shows 5000 mAh.
There is something wrong with brightness controll, it stucks when I press "auto brightness", restart helps.
Is it possible to remove caller and sms app ...from 3G? And first of all - is it possible to update security?
I can confirm issue with screen brightness control.
[Edit] seen relevant info regarding screen brightness on the 14.1 thread.

Brightness control fix
Go to quick setting and in the screen of the edit toggles, add brightness toggle, and switch brightness from automatic to manual... Then can control manually the brightness
Clock, alarms
And we need to remember to do not touch the icon "A" at the brightness toggle.
Does anyone else experience a crash when tapping ' security' from the settings menu on v2 ?
(edit) Seems I had an app/service frozen in SD Maid which was causing this, unfreezing rectified matters.

Hi guys, just went to grab a SM-T560.
God it's tedious, so here is what i did :
1) flashing TWRP 3 with Odin: done
2) flashing from twrp:
* venomfullv2.zip
* fixbattery.zip
* opengapps7.1.2arm.zip (nano for me)
* lastest supersu.zip
3) reboot (TWRP reported i have no OS installed hu ?)
4) waiting 5 to 10 mns
Everything is ok, except i can't change brightness. Do you have a fix / tip for this issue ?
I saw sometimes advices to flash boot.img, but not sure why (my tablet booted fine even if twrp reported no system installed).
My goal is to have a reactive tablet. I heard Samsung 4.4 is bloated and that Venom is the best (and furthermore 7.1.2), i hope i choose the best horse
Also, what is samsung know (i guess a Secure Linux like module ), and is it active on Venom ?
Thank you !

Hi everyone, just installed and everything looks ok. Unfortunately, you do not see the percentage of battery when the tablet is charging when turned off (by pressing the home button). Any solution?
