Boot Box Project App v2.7
Boot Box is a boot animation database, manager, creator, and more.
Boot Box (v2.7) - Open BETA update released
Open BETA testing stage. Expect bugs.
[July 1] Changelog (v2.7)
New! Create a flashable zip backup of your currently installed boot animation.
If you're running a CM-based ROM, you may have trouble with backups.
New! Pre-load GIF previews - this improves the quality and speed of the preview, by far.
New! Polished UI and new app icon.
Updated Scrambler. The randomizer now works better with no simultaneous choices.
New! View animations for all resolutions under one list (lots of duplicates, for now).
Fixed bugs with the latest additions menu. Pending animations won't show unless specified under settings. Explicit animations won't show in this menu.
Attempted to fix a bug where valid ZIP files are erroneously reported as invalid (please test)
More boot animation list sorting methods!
More tiny bug fixes and tweaks.
Reminder: the Boot Box Factory is meant to create animations with up to 10 images.
[Jan 3] Changelog (v2.2)
Public release, no opt-in required.
Added ability to sort by downloads.
Lots of bug fixing.
Removed Busybox dependencies. If you were previously having an issue where animations weren't installing, this should solve it. Please report.
Fixed bugs and timing issues in the Boot Box Factory Slideshow Wizard.
[Dec 31] Changelog (v2.0)
All new uploader, you may now upload your boot animations to Boot Box, from Boot Box (BETA, please test). The uploader crops the animation thumbnail for you and the uploader creates the GIF preview for you.
HUGE database overhaul. Completely changed server handling. Entire new database with new methods. Older versions of Boot Box are no longer supported.
Categories! hide/show certain categories.
New Setup Wizard on first run*
Fixed all cropping issues (CropLibrary)
Replaced Contributors List with Latest Additions
Improved SharedPreferences Handling
Added a few warning messages
Removed the ability to change the Boot Box Icon
Boot Box now accepts BitCoin donations
Other UI goodies and small bug fixes that I can't remember.

Notes:These boot animations are not flashable.
To install rename the downloaded file to "bootanimation.zip" and copy this file to /data/local/ (recommended) or /system/media/
If you're running AOKP, you may alternatively install it by accessing the General UI settings via ROM Control, and then selecting the bootanimation.zip that you downloaded.

Hi there, I've downloaded the bootanimation.zip and transferred it to /system/media and set its permission to rw-rw-r-- (via root explorer) but it doesn't seem to work after restart.
edit: It's working now. I've copied the zip to /data/local instead and it works!

Great looking Boot animation! The only criticism is that you spelled Success wrong, but that is the only problem I have with it! :good:

hm. I can't seem to get it to load. I placed the file in system/media and in data/local and with permissions as rw-r--r--
EDIT: Now the bootloader is stuck halfway so how do i reflash the original bootloader zip file?
EDIT: OK Panic over, i managed to boot to a custom recovery and rename the bootanimation to something random so it doesnt boot that animation. Now the OS Loads!

Updates are coming soon. I'm currently testing.

What ROM are you using? If you're on AOKP you can load up the bootanimation.zip from ROM Control [General UI].

Are you trying to use the boot animation on stock? If you're on stock, you may have issues so I suggest that you do a nandroid before trying it. Feedback is appreciated.

This is a request: Could you make one where the stock nexus bootloader comes on after the BIOS Style part passes? I have sort of made it but it made the bootanimation freeze. Could you check to see if there are any errors with it? Thank you

My only problem is that my phone boots up so fast I can't see the entire animation.

Done! Coming right up.
The only error was that the animation was compressed, it has to be added in a .zip but without compressing ("store" only)

Oh I see, I used winRAR to create the zip file, could that be the reason why it froze halfway and couldn't boot to the OS?

I have complied the original post's off all the bootanimation threads in the G2/DZ forum. Feel free to add your bootanimations to this list. Please do not ask questions in this thread. It is only intended to have final bootanimations.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
I really like the stock G2 boot image, but without being animated, it felt very stiff and boring. So I added some animation to it. It's very simple, with the fading grey lines at the top and bottom moving to the left slowly:

}
(this is a low quality GIF, the actual animation looks better, I promise)
I made this mostly for myself, but it turned out better than I expected so I wanted to share it. This is my very first boot animation, so be gentle in your criticism. This is an 800x480 boot animation, so it should work on other devices with that screen resolution, though I don't know why you'd want a G2 boot screen on your Nexus One or Droid Incredible.
To use this animation, use adb or a root explorer app to put the file in /data/local and make sure it's named bootanimation.zip. The file is attached below, or you can download it from MediaFire.
UPDATE: I just finished the modified version of this boot animation that replaces the T-Mobile logo with the HTC logo. Aside from that, they're the same. The new one is attached below, or you can grab it from MediaFire.
Enjoy!

I didn't make the original work. I just modified the information so that it tailored the specs of the G2.
Code:
adb devices (optional, only to see if adb sees your phone)
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
(if this doesn't work, try pushing to /system/media also)
Now to test if it worked type:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
<press ctrl+c to quit>
Info on BIOS is for G2.
*Update* 01/03/11
All the updates are in! 800 MHz is made per request.

Okay...WE NOW HAVE SOUND!!
First off, thanks to mrdaviso for script and instructions from spiicytuna.
My apologies to amazinglarry311, credit goes to him/her for the enablesound script.
enablebootsound scripts can be found here:
Enable Sound Boot
Here's how I did it:
Flash zip file from recovery.
reboot
Place android_audio.mp3 on sdcard root (change name of android_audio.zip to android_audio.mp3)
adb shell(I am assuming you are root)
enablebootsound(mine wasn't already enabled)
newbootsound
You can also use this script to install bootanimation now. ( I still prefer the old way)
place bootanimation.zip on sdcard root
newbootanim
A "Thanks" will do.

Hi all. This isnt new but for those of you that havent found it yet this is the Xoom Honeycomb boot animation feel free to download. But I need assistance, after installing it when the animation ends and it is about to loop there is a quick flash to white screen and then it continues. Not too big of a deal but was wondering if anyone could help me, Im kind of a perfectionist but have no idea how to fix it myself. Thanks
Heres a vid of what it looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSWnKu5hr7g&feature=player_embedded
and I will attach the bootanimation.zip
For those that dont know. All you have to do is take the .zip, rename it to bootanimation.zip and copy it to the /system/media folder. Backup your old boot file if you want.
Edit: Found a ported version for the droid x that looks pretty good going to attach that. I also attached two landscape bootanimations. One has the Honeycomb Bee at the beginning and the other doesnt. Just thought you guys might want to see it.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
****Disclaimer!!! I am not responsible for any errors or issues that may come from using these directions. This method has been tested and used by me on the T-Mobile G2 ONLY.****
Ok, I like playing with boot animations on my device. And I have this quirk for running everything I can on the device, rather than through ADB, unless I have to. While digging through assorted threads, here and abroad, I ran across a nifty app called GScript lite, free on the Market, and amazingly useful. On another thread, someone pointed out that if you copy a boot animation to /data/local, it will take precedence over any boot animations that your favorite ROM may install. So, I decided to simplify changing boot ani's, so I can swap them around whenever I feel like it. I now have it down to about 30 sec, and decided to post this for everyone interested to try it. Ok, so, here's the details;
Requirements: GScript lite, file manager, new boot animations
1) Download the animation you want to try to your SDcard
2) Copy the zip to /mnt/sdcard
3) Rename animation file "bootanimation.zip"
4) Open GScript and hit menu
a) Type in whatever you want to call the script in the top
box
b) Make sure "Needs SU?" is checked
c) Type cp /mnt/sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
<enter>
reboot
d) Now hit "save"
5) Just press your scriptname in the list and enjoy!
From here on out, to change boot animations, all you need to do is copy the renamed file to SD root, and click on that script, phone will reboot showing your brand new animation. "Share and Enjoy!"
I'd like to thank the GScript devs for a very useful tool, and Kaanha for the commands
Click the Thanks button if this helps you.

Bootanimation for CM7.
"CM7-3D"
1. Download bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on your sdcard
3. open terminal enter these commands:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/
reboot
If it doesn't work in /system/media, try in /system/local
You can also use any root explorer app to move this from your sd card manually.
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH FROM RECOVERY, IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Enjoy.

Here are some bootanimations I created. Some of these are pointless. I just made them to mess with my friends.
Im open to input, sugestions, etc....as I want to create a more smoother version.
::Instruction::
Download the zip and place it in /system/media
You should already have a file named bootanimation.zip...simply replace it with the downloaded one, of course renaming to bootanimation.zip
If it doesn't work in /system/media than
try in /system/local

You all should know the warnings, so dont bother unless you know what your doing.

I know you probably intend to create an animation, with thoes files, but with the current setup, you could have just left it with one png and set the fps to 1 ...since there is no animation.
Cant wait to see what you crank out...feel free to share.

This is a port of another boot animation I saw in another thread (if anyone knows which one, let me know and I'll give the original author credit). If you want the added "fatality dun-dun-dunnnnnnn" sound, download the attached "android_audio.zip" file, unzip it, and put it in /system/media (if you're running a CM-based Gingerbread build like GingerVillain 1.5 or PyroMod 1.1, rename finishhim.zip as bootanimation.zip, put android_audio.mp3 and bootanimation.zip on the root of your SD card, and follow this guide).
*psst...this boot animation might be illegal in Australia *
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Hey Guys. Here is the boot animation extracted from the Destroyed ROM which, to the best of my knowledge, was only available for the EVO. I I thought it looked pretty cool so I had my friend extract it for me and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I hope you like it!
Installing:
I'm not sure how other people like to install their boot animations, however if you don't know how here is how I do it:
*Must have super user permissions
1.Download and Open Terminal Emulator from the android market
2.Download bootanimation.zip from this thread and put it on your sd card
3.Enter this code into Terminal Emulator:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip /system/media
where the /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip would just be the directory where you have the zip file. if you just put it on the root of your sd card it would be /sdcard/bootanimation.zip and if you downloaded it using your phone it would probably be under /sdcard/download/bootanimation.zip
restart your phone and it should work. Hope this helps!
Edit:
*Be sure to backup your old bootanimation.zip if you think you may ever want to go back to it!

Hello, I tried searching around but couldn't find any similar problem.
I've created my own bootanimation.zip which can be downloaded here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=576GF823 Its Red Wings Related, showing the Center Ice at Joe Louis Arena, then an awesome goal by zetterberg, then loops center ice again. That all works great.
The problem I've run into is that the first time it plays any of the animations they are slow. and when I'm only playing the goal once it goes in slow mo, if i loop it, the 2nd time it plays fast as it should. Is there anyway to fix this? I originally was just doing the goal, then the center ice on loop. I tried putting 1 center ice first, hoping it would take the lag and allow the goal to play full speed, but it doesn't.
Any help is appreciated.
Omg so kewls
I would seriously enjoy a boot animation done with the Android Police video Intro.

You can flash a boot animation using adb or by copying it to your SDcard and then to a location on your phone.
ADB - Permanent:
adb push /data/local
ADB - Semi-Permanent:
adb push /system/media
Thanks to Evostance for these instructions.
Example commands (you need to insert your own file path for the location of the bootanimation.zip on your local drive)
Code:
adb push [COLOR="Red"]c:\sdk\platform-tools\bootanimation.zip[/COLOR] /data/local
or
Code:
adb push [COLOR="Red"]c:\sdk\platform-tools\bootanimation.zip[/COLOR] /system/media
Thanks to Obselite for help with this clarification!
Via CWM Flashable ZIP file:
A few people have requested which animations are flashable via CWM recovery, to help out I have downloaded, emptied and made the flashing script more generic from an existing ZIP file. Thanks to the community for creating this file in the first place.
(If anybody finds any problems with this file please let me know and I will try to correct it)
- Download the attached file: Empty_CWM_bootanimationZIP_Flashable.zip
- Do not extract it, open it using a file explorer, drag and drop your desired bootanimation.zip into the /data/local/ directory within the zip file.
- Delete the Read Me files and flash as normal.
****Please ensure you read and delete the included read me files, I have tested this on my own Galaxy Nexus and it is working fine with a variety of boot animations, as always though you modify your phone at your own risk, be careful!****
My own boot animations (wilskywalker):
Ok, after much experimentation I finally managed to create my own animations, I have made two animations based on the hidden nyandroid animation in ICS 4.0 in the settings menu.
Thanks and credit to Google for including this great hidden extra and cancerouspete for the inspiration to use this source material. Please let me know what you think in this thread, thanks folks!
Cid Loading - My version of the new CyanogenMod mascot, hope people like it (credit to CyanogenMod for the original image). (Flashable via CWM Recovery)
Cid Loading - Black Background - As above but with black background.
Classic Dancing Green Android - Pretty self explanatory this one. (Flashable via CWM Recovery)
Nyandroid Pop Dance - This is a higher resolution version of the dancing ICS droid. (Flashable via CWM Recovery)
Nyandroid Pop - This is a simple blue background with the nyandroid pop animation. (Flashable via CWM Recovery)
Beemo Minimal (Flashable via CWM & TWRP Recovery)
Android Progress Bar Minimal (Flashable via CWM & TWRP Recovery)

Boot animation requests
Is there a particular animation you would like but are unable to make it yourself? If so then you have come to the right place, head to this post for more info:
Custom Boot Animation Requests
Many thanks to strumcat for this generous offer. Please follow his guidelines below if you wish to make a request:
If you'd like a custom boot animation of your name rotating, more or less like the one in the attachment, let me know. Can be any color, one of several fonts, outlined like mine, or solid, or reflective.
If you have a short video clip you'd like made into a boot animation, post it and I'll see what I can do. Video has to be playable on my computer. The bigger, the better for more quality. I can resize them down, but resizing up doesn't look good. Background is best black for blending into black screen, but not absolutely necessary. If you have an existing boot animation that's too big for your screen I can resize it for you.
I can do one request per day, chosen at random.
Please respect the developers stipulations...and as always people, no ETA's!
Boot modifications
Here is a great script by djmcnz that allows you to randomize a number of different animations each time you boot your phone:

RootzWiki: I am sure you are all aware of this great website, here is their boot animation forum.
I hope this helps some people out, if I have missed anything out, made any mistakes, or failed to credit someone please let me know in this thread and I will happily correct it.
Also, if you find any great boot animations optimized for Galaxy Nexus (on XDA or anywhere else) let me know in this thread and I will update this post, thanks for your help!
Ye I don't like it either, like you say it's quite low resolution and rather than the background being black it's more of a purple colour which really doesn't do the screen justice.
[TUTORIAL] Create Your Own Boot Animation
How to create your own boot animations:
you will need the following two programs:
7zip - 7zip.org External Link
Notepad++ - notepad-plus-plus.org External Link
Install both these programs before you begin.
Create desc.txt file:
Firstly lets create our 'desc.txt' file, this will tell your phone how to display the images you have chosen for your boot animation.
Using Notepad++ create a new file with the following attributes:
Code:
Normal text file
UNIX
ANSI
INS
You then need to type the following into that file:
Code:
[COLOR="Green"]720 1280 24
p X Y partZ[/COLOR]
[COLOR="red"]***blank line***[/COLOR]
Below is an explanation of what all this means and how to define your values:
720: animation width value
1280: animation height value
24: animation frames per second value
p: defines that a new animation section has begun.
X: how many times this animation part loops (0 will loop infinitely until the android system boots).
Y: defines a pause after this animation section has played (0-10 maximum).
Z: is the folder name where the images are located to be played in this section of the animation.
***blank line***: This is literally what it says, a blank line, type nothing here, just make sure the line exists or you animation will not work.
Here is an example of what your file may look like once you have finished:
Code:
[COLOR="green"]720 1280 24
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1[/COLOR]
Create Image folders:
We now need to create the folders which will contain you image files. Each folder contains the images for the corresponding section of your animation as defined in your desc file above.
To start create a new folder named:
Code:
part0
Depending on how many sections you are having in your animation, you can continue to create folders with this naming convention, always lower-case followed by a number, no spaces:
Code:
part1
part2
etc
I am unsure if there is a limit to how many of these folders you may create and how that may or may not affect performance, this needs further clarification. If anybody can provide clarification I will update this tutorial.
Create Images:
Now the fun (and hours of editing begins). Choose what you want as your animation, this can be from any source you decide...that's the 'fun' bit. Then comes the editing. You will need to convert your selected source material into a series of images or 'frames' if you like to make up your animation.
You need to use the following values for your images:
All images must be PNG or JPEG format. They must not be interlaced. They should be sized according to the screen resolution of the device you wish to run them on, so for the Galaxy Nexus that would be 720x1280.
You should number the images beginning from 10001 and onwards depending on the number of images. This numbering should be continuous through all your folders and not reset for each folder, for example:
Code:
part0/10001.png; 10002.png; 10003.png
part1/10004.png; 10005.png; 10006.png
part2/10007.png; 10008.png; 10009.png
...and so on.
Please be aware I have seen other image files and naming conventions used on occasion, I am giving the information above based on my own experimentation and what has given me the best results and performance.
Create 'bootanimation.zip' File:
Once you have finished this process we need to create your 'bootanimation.zip' file.
Once you have installed 7zip, select your 'desc.text' and all your 'partx' files and right click on them, choose the following options from the context menu:
7zip > Add to archive...
The 7zip menu will then appear, ensure you have the following settings:
Archive: bootanimation
Archive format: zip
Compression level: Store
Update mode: Add and replace files
...leave all other options as default.
Then click 'OK'
You now have your 'bootanimation.zip' file.
This can be manually placed in your /system/media or /data/local directories.
Create Flashable ZIP File:
If you want to create a flashable zip file then please follow the instructions in my tutorial below:
[TUTORIAL] Making Flashable ZIPs, EDIFY Script, ZIP Signing & Key Creation
As always, if anybody spots any glaring errors here, or can provide additional information please post in this thread and I will update the tutorial, many thanks!
I hope this helps people out creating their own boot animations.
Have fun!!

I was looking around to see if I could find a "HD" version of the ICS Animation, but no joy
Still unable to find any custom boot animation's for the Galaxy Nexus, or even confirm that it can be done!?
Unfortunately Google searches only seem to bring up the stock GN boot for other devices.
Anybody had any more luck, or could confirm it is possible and point me in the direction of a good tutorial so I can try to start the ball rolling with some of my own?
Thanks
Yeah it can be done.
If anyone knows how to convert a mp4 into jpgs (1 for each frame, or 1 for every other frame) on OSX then let me know
Yea it definitely can, I made an optimized version of the isc with true blacks and deep colors

I would like to know where the zip file for this is.
There is a command 'bootanimation' in /system/bin
I ran 'cat' on it but it came out gibberish
I ran the 'bootanimation' tool from terminal on the handset...bad idea
It just repeated the animation with no way of exiting, I'm pulling the battery and looking further.
PS... Quicktime application on OSX should allow you to export to an image sequence, it should also have tools to allow you to crop movies etc.

I never liked that Nexus animation, it's low res and doesn't look good.
Is there any other boot animation confirmed working on GN or are these all incompatible with ICS?
It's not that we will see it often as the phone boots pretty fast, but would prefer to see anything else than that stock animation.
There was one I liked, a green spinning android with particles...
Thanks,
I did manage to find the bootanimation.zip folder
I copied it to the root of sdcard but I couldn't see it when I connected the phone, I moved it to the music folder and still I could not see it from the Win7 PC. I tried in MTP and PTP mode and then with dev-usb option enabled but nothing....
In the end I threw it in DropBox and downloaded it this way, no I see how it is made I will try and replace the folder and see if this works
In the process of making one of the light bike Androids.
Got it working fine, however its a little choppy. Might need to lower the quality
Pretty sure theres a reason the ICS isnt 1080p. The phone struggles to play it
i wanted the android tron light bikes as a bootanimation ever since i saw it

THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today
I take no credit in creating these animations. I just helped get them working on our device. these made flashable to replace the Samsung "qmg" files. If your ROM allows custom animation simply extract the bootanimation the zip and place in appropriate location.
Just flash from recovery and enjoy!
DOWNLOAD LINKS/INSTRUCTIONS
For the E4GT flashable click here no need to extract or rename, just flash in recover
For the manual install click here and just change name to bootanimation.zip and put it in system/media folder then reboot
The collection keeps growing so much that it's hard to post individual links so I will now link to my dropbox and you may choose from here . I will continue to post previews too I'm also working on putting together one large file with just the direct bootanimation file so there won't be a need to extract if needed. Thank you and enjoy
Here are the bootanimation.zip files that are to be renamed and replace your current bootanimation located in one of the following locations depending on your ROMS file location.
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip or /data/local/bootanimation.zip or /system/media/bootanimation.zip or /system/customize/resource/spc_bootanimation.zip or /data/local/spc_bootanimation.zip or [/system/media/spc_bootanimation.zip/U] or /system/customize/resource/VZW_bootanimation.zip or [/data/local/VZW_bootanimation.zip/U] or /system/media/VZW_bootanimation.zip or /system/customize/resource/hTC_bootanimation.zip or [U/data/local/hTC_bootanimation.zip] or /system/media/hTC_bootanimation.zip

Thank you, just sharing what I have found and learned here on XDA. Unfortunately from what i have found there isn't to much going on with the shutdown animations, those damn qmg files!!! There are other stock Samsung ones or you might go here to try your hand at creating them. There are a couple custom ones on the page made for the Galaxy S Advance
god I suck why can't I get any of them to work.

I went to recovery and tried to install the zip and I also tried flashing the Bootanimation4U.zip from another thread.

I' am sure that I am doing it wrong.
Turning the phone off I select boot into recovery mode. Says Android System Reovery (3e)
Then I pick apply update from external storage and pick the zip.

That's because you are trying to apply the zip using stock Android recovery. Flash a safe kernel using Odin, but make sure you have a stock kernel of your current rom's build in zip format saved to your phone first. Then flash safe kernel(I recommend chris41g's EL26+CWM), then wipe cache, dalvik(good habit), flash the boot animation zip, flash the stock kernel you saved to your phone, and reboot, enjoy. Good luck

I think I see what is happening. I have flashable for our E4GT phones here http://db.tt/ZxehLTloand the other link is for the bootanimation.zip files to be pushed manually to the system/media folder (only works if your ROM supports custom boots).
Download from this link http://db.tt/ZxehLTloand flash from recovery, make sure the zip end with "support.zip". If that still doesn't work let me know

Knight Rider
Hello everyone, I stumbled upon these boot animations a while ago, but didn't know how to use it until recently. So I decided to make one compatible with our S3 Mini + I've added KITT's scanner sound to make it more appealing
IMPORTANT : This is NOT created by me. I just resized the images and edited the animation to be able to play on 480x800 screened devices!
ALL CREDITS FOR IDEA, RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT GO TO @OptimusADDiCT
I don't plan to port all of his other KR boot animations, but if I get some more free time and lots of requests , I might do them as well

First you go to www.online-convert.com and convert your .gif to .jpg images (they're going to be inside a .rar file, just extract it). Now that you've got your images follow these instructions http://www.droidbeans.com/how-to-create-your-own-boot-animation-rooted-devices/ .
First few tries are gonna be complete fails, but when you get the hang of it you will see how easy it actually is to make bootanims xD

Ok, but keep in mind that it won't be a moving animated picture as it's just a normal .jpg
In other words, it will just sit there on your screen until your phone boots up. It won't move or something like that [emoji14]

No problem. DMod should work fine on any firmware, because it overwtites the existing system with the modded one.
My S3 Mini is on this ROM and I love it
Btw, DMod v7 isn't released afaik, v6 is the latest and it's also gr8. Try both for a few days and choose which one you want.

[MOD]ENABLE ZIP BOOTANIMATION w/AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER[MAY.15]

I finally made the time to put together an Aroma of a handful of my own creations along with some of my favorites! You will have the ability to enable custom Boot Animations for those running stock Roms. This mod will also install the ever so difficult to create "qmg" shutdowns! For the people running the newest Missing Link, you've seen most, but not all of what is here. Added a couple of boots and shutdowns.
New version added support to many newer Samsung devices running MM Only!
CONFIRMED SUPPORTED DEVICES
Galaxy S6
Galaxy S6 Edge
Galaxy S7
Galaxy S7 Edge
Note 4
Note 5
Note 7
AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER!! OVER 40 BOOT, 26 SHUTDOWN ANIMATIONS and 45 BOOT SPLASH IMAGES TO PICK FROM
The mod enables the use of "Custom ZIP" animations instead of the QMG animations giving you a much larger selection, even beyond this mod!! If you want to go back to QMG animations, simply just use a file manager with root access and navigate to system/media and delete the "bootanimation.zip" then reboot. Done, you will be back to the original QMG bootanimation your rom had prior to running this mod. Enjoy!!

*****BOOT ANIMATIONS PREVIEWS*****
This is set of boot animations I have either created or collected from all creative minds here at XDA.
The flashable zips are confirmed ONLY for Sprint's (Galaxy S2) E4GT right now!! testers welcome? Should be compatible with Samsung device's that use "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" files stored in /system/media. Just get the flashable.zip files here and flash via recovery
This link will get you to my original post with directions for installs, downloads for previews, bootanimation.zip files and flashable zips (these are made to support Samsung qmg bootanimation)
Direct downloads here for manual install of bootanimation.zip file
Previews here
Flashable zips here
These are made to support Samsung "qmg" bootanimations, specifically for the device I am on E4GT (Sprint's S2). IT'S UNTESTED ON ANY OTHER PHONES!! IF ANYONE WITH A SAMSUNG PHONE THAT HAS THE "QMG" LOCKED BOOT WOULD TEST LET ME KNOW THAT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
I have to thank all of the XDA community for these animation and support over the years!!! Please enjoy

UPDATE: First off thank you to everyone for the support and patience. I know the v1 had some "double option choices" and a few animations didn't work. I have went through and tested further and confirm they work now. I also added a couple more choices. I still need to work on the "previews" for some of them, about half are done right now. If the previews aren't available to view during recovery they are most likely available in the OP. Again thank you for your patience!!

It's an Aroma Installer and used via recovery. Just flash in recovery and pick your selection. That's it. You can extract them and move to system/media manually if you want, but you will also have to grab the sysyem/bin files and set permissions.
I recommend doing via recovery. If after that you want to use a different zip animation then you will have the option with the bin files already in place.
The newest addition to my Aroma Bootanimation installer.
