The download link work but the file .img is damaged and so don't work !

... No, it's not broken. Either your internet is failing to download the file, or you failed to read instructions and made an idiot mistake. Since we can't help your ISP, let's assume the latter. Please tell us detailed steps you've taken.

I'm operating with windows 8 ..And when i try to open file (.img) it say: Damaged File
I've try to download more times but it is the same..
My problem isn't this ...When i finish to follow the steps (flash kernel and rom recommended) the phone don't start ...Start but only the written sony and autoreboot ...What's wrong?
I follow this step
Downloads/Installation
Please Nandroid backup before flashing. I am not responsible for any permanent damage or data loss. I try my best not to wreck your stuff though
If you are running Turbo r8 or older, the partition map has changed (30MB moved from data to system). You MUST Nandroid Backup before flashing the r9 update, then Nandroid restore after flashing. Otherwise you WILL lose your data.
GSM ONLY - You must have a vendor-unlocked partition layout - this only needs to be done once, if you have flashed my MIUI Australia ROM in the past or an official Neo L FTF, you already have it and can skip this step. If not, flash this full FTF first which is the same as .64 FTF but with the required vendor partition to format the unallocated space (it will completely wipe your phone) - R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf on Google Drive
CDMA ONLY - No need to flash any FTF, it seems R800x already has an unlocked vendor partition.
Ensure your ROM is less than 310MB system size. If you are not sure or don't know how to check, contact your ROM builder.
Download and flash the kernel -
Turbo Kernel r12
First-time users - Enter Multiboot Menu (Vol-Down key) and go to Internal > Recovery, then format system, data and cache before doing anything else. Very important.
If you cannot enter the Boot Menu or Recovery after flashing, you need to flash the FTF first.

What do you mean tried to open.img file? This is the boot file to fastboot to phone you don't need to open it! I am using it at the moment from same link no problems. Also try this "Using Fastboot may trigger a "boot menu loop" - simply enter CWM-Recovery for any slot and then select reboot to solve it."That quote is from CosmicDan page.I would suggest reading his instuctions again.:fingers-crossed:

Common Terms/Android Slangs
a small guide on some of the android terms my Diablo67
Bootloader:This small program's only job is to load other data and programs which are then executed from RAM.Often, multiple-stage boot loaders are used, during which several programs of increasing complexity load one after the other in a process of chain loading.
Fastboot:A diagnostic protocol used primarily to modify the flash filesystem in Android smartphones from another computer over a USB connection. It is part of the Android Debug Bridge library.
Utilizing the Fastboot protocol requires that the device be started in a boot loader or Second Program Loader mode in which only the most basic hardware initialization is performed. After enabling the protocol on the device itself it will accept any command sent to it over USB via a command line. Some of most commonly used fastboot commands include:
•flash - Overwrites a partition in flash with a binary image stored on the host computer.
•erase - Erases a partition in flash.
•reboot - Reboots the device into the either the main operating system or the system recovery partition.
•devices - Displays a list of all devices (with Serial #) connected to the host computer.
Flashing:The ROM memory used in smartphones and tablets etc. is often same as flash memory found in SD cards and USB flash drives, simply optimized for better speed and performance while running the operating system.
Kernel:A kernel is a layer of code that allows the OS and applications to interface with your phone's hardware. The degree in which you can access your phone's hardware features depends on the quality of code in the kernel. The homebrew (rooting) community for HTC has made several kernel code improvements that give us additional features from our hardware that the stock kernel does not. When you flash a custom ROM, you automatically get a kernel. But you can also flash a standalone kernel ROM on top of the existing one, effectively overwriting it. These days, the difference in custom kernels is less about new features and more about alternate configurations. Choosing a custom kernel is basically choosing one that works best with your ROM.
Nandroid:To backup the current running rom.
Recovery Mode:A small separate operating mode you can boot your device into, used for device administration. Two popular custom recovery modes are Amon Ra and Clockwork.
Basic Requirements
1.A Boot-unlocked and Rooted HTC One V
2.Charge it till above 75% battery
2.A PC(this guide is for now only for windows)
3.usb cable

Go developer.android.com and download the SDK & move it to your home directory ("~" or /Users/<username>)
Go to <sdk-location>/tools and launch "Android"
Download the platform tools
Open terminal
Open Finder to <sdk-location>/platform-tools
In terminal, type "sudo cp"; drag adb from the Finder window into the Terminal window; type "/usr/bin/"; hit enter
Enter your password
Repeat the above three steps, but drag "fastboot" instead of "adb"
Close terminal
Open terminal (it sounds weird, but just do it)
Now, and forever, do this to install a kernel:
Download kernel
Connect phone to computer
Make sure USB Debugging is enabled (Settings>Development>USB Debugging)
In terminal, type "adb reboot bootloader"
In terminal, type "fastboot flash boot"; drag in the kernel from finder; hit enter
Examples:
Code:
sudo cp /Users/Username/android-sdk-mac/platform-tools/adb /usr/bin/
sudo cp /Users/Username/android-sdk-mac/platform-tools/adb /usr/bin/
adb reboot recovery
fastboot flash boot /Users/Username/Downloads/boot.img

ok, calm down, everyone has this problem while flashing, i get it so many times, they can cause by the following reasons
bad flash
wrong rom
you forgot to flash the kernel
wrong kernel
messed up the order in flashing
ok,
1.Bad flash-this occurs if the .zip file is corrupted
solution:= re flash the ROM, if still no, download the file again and try
2.wrong ROM- u may have downloaded a ROM that is not for ur device or a ROM which is of not ur description
for example u might me a PRIMO C device/CDMA and u downloaded a PRIMO U/GSM ROM
3.Wrong Kernel-Kernel is the link between ur software and hardware, if u flash the wrong one like the case mentioned above , download the correct one and re flash
4.[ FLASHING YOUR KERNEL SHOULD BE THE LAST STEP][UNLESS U HAVE A S-OFF DEVICE]

to clarify, step 6: "flash" should be edited to say " install ROM from zip" to avoid the "flash" misconception associate with flashing kernels:good:
more detailed work should be there.. like you said install cwm or twrp.... give a link to where they are embedded in the words will be good...
and the above goes for the flashing rom part also...embed the link to the dev section
make it easy and tidy instead of all those ugly looking clutters you did

First you mention the ROM, then out of the blue you mention recovery. ROM should be introduced after a nand backup. You should also explain in short what a nand backup is. A sentence with an analogy is sufficient. I am a software developer and I would like to share a rule that I follow: If you need to add a comment in your code, that means the code is not readable. In the same way, when you mention something in bracket, it itself means that the sentence is no clear, and need rephrasing and rewording.
Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to insult or berate or anything, but I got it read by a friend who wants to flash his One V, and he got back to me with more questions than the guide answered. There a some step holes in the guide, and you have to write is as if you are a noob
Lastly, thanks a lot, this particular guide and your answers have been really helpful to me and the community.

Spreadtrum SC6820/SC8810 Full Backup

Hello there,
Today I will teach you how to make a full backup of your Spreadtrum phone !
This tutorial may also work on several other phones.
CWM can make a nearly full backup of your Spreadtrum, but it's not enough unfortunately.
Android is compartmented in 4 main partitions. You have theses partition:
* boot - It contains the Linux kernel
* System - It contains Android
* Recovery - It contains the recovery system, CWM if you installed it.
* DATA - It contain your personal datas, and should not be published online if you share your backup online.
But Android is one thing, your phone also have a lot of bios, firmwares, and bootloaders. Theses are not saved by traditional backup utilities such as CWM.
Theses partitions includes:
* UBoot - Very important, this thing is the low level bootloader. It starts Linux !
* Modem Firmware - used to dial with your GSM provider
* DSP Firmware - Make video playback smoother using DSP resources.
* NV - It's some kind of encryption key with some low levels parameters. Very important !
* Lots of misc stuffs - Like the boot logo, the kernel panics logs (record the boot-up errors to help the debugging process), etc ...
* Lots of important misc stuffs - For example what start-up the device even before handing the phone to Uboot.
This thread will cover a new way to backup your device, working "only" on rooted Spreadtrum devices.
With this you can recreate your original firmware file, and then rescue your phone even on the worst case you can find. (And help those with the same phone as you but have made a big flashing mistake)
So first, you will need to root your device. It may be simple or difficult, it all depends of the device you have. The instructions on how to root your device are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554
When you are rooted, you will have to install the Spreadtrum drivers if it's not already the case and log into your device with ADB.
You can download the drivers here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c5nf3rlhxmxhu4x
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2tyg0k2xp3ejgyg
You can download ADB and learn how it work here: http://dottech.org/21534/how-to-ins...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
Then you will have to tell adb what phone to use. By that I mean adding the PCI ID to a text file to tell adb that this peripheral is compatible.
The Spreadtrum PCI ID is 0x1782
add this line to "Your user directory/.android/adb_usb.ini"
Code:
0x1782
So when you are ready to go, you have to download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?y6wmegkc22gkr97
Then with adb, push it on your device with this command:
Code:
adb push backuptools.tar /data/local/tmp
Now we will extract the tools with this command:
Code:
adb shell su -c "tar -xvpf /data/local/tmp/backuptools.tar"
And now, let's start the backup process:
Code:
adb shell su -c "./mkbackup.sh"
and here we go, just wait a while and every partitions on your phone will be saved in the backup directory on the sd card !
You will never have to backup this way again as those partitions are read only, if you don't do crazy things they will never change. But if you want to make another backup I suggest you go with CWM (read this page if you don't have it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554).
Please do another backup with CWM even if everything as gone right with this method. Just to double check !
PS: if CWM does not work for you, you just have to send me your boot.img file from your backup and I will make one compatible with your phone.
To restore your backups you will also need to have CWM, you also can use ResearchDownload if you manage to entirely brick your phone or if any attempts to make a CWM recovery fails. I will have to do a tutorial about that too.
Thanks a lot :good:

Hi,
Can I have the exact name of your device ? (it must be in the battery compartment)
Did you tried all the CWM already in the rooting tutorial ? (I added one this morning)
If none of them work, I made this recovery with the boot.img you provided: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?aj2nman38j5cfip
Please don't forget to tell me what CWM work for you so I can add the name of your phone on the tutorial.

Well it's explained in the rooting tutorial.
If your phone have Fastboot you can flash using it. If you don't you can use the Spreadtrum flash utility called ResearchDownload.
Everything is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554
As your phone is already rooted it will be a lot more simple to flash using "dd" or some android flashing utilities. Actually it doesn't work that way on theses phones, sorry ... So just do as the rooting tutorial explains.
Hi, I'm succesfully rooted my phone with the "rooted system partition image" method, but none of the CWM images work, so I would be grateful if you can send me the recovery image.

A boot loop ?
You mean the recovery is looping ? and if you try to boot as normal everything working ok ?
I don't know what has gone wrong ... Where did you find your boot.img ? Did you extract it from the rom as the tutorial said or extracted from a .pac file ?
Have you flashed it with fastboot or with ResearchDownload ?

That's weird, really weird. Because the recovery partition is not involved in the normal boot procedure. So flashing a new recovery should not harm in any way the normal boot procedure.
I really don't know what have brought your phone in such state I'm afraid.
Maybe you should try to flash the recovery again. and see if everything is the same.
As the recovery is not involved in the normal boot process, it surely will not change anything, but as you have tried the over ones (CWM I mean), and that have not screwed your booting process, you may try to flash one of the non working ones again (but known for sure to not harm the boot process) to see if it work again.
Have you used the same FDL set as when you flashed the system partition and the over CWM ?
It's a good thing you have the full backup on your hand. Because you may surely be able to recover from that. I just have to make a tutorial about flashing the backup with ResearchDownload and explaining what file goes where from the backup.

I really don't know what have brought your phone in such state I'm afraid.
Maybe you should try to flash the recovery again. and see if everything is the same.

I made another CWM recovery for your phone, please try it: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lg7m6v49efzpnjk
Apparently was an error of ResearchDownload (It seems was flashing recovery.img into boot.), so I tried with another copy of ResearchDownload and FDL files and now works like a charm.
Thank you very much!

Can you tell me what version of ResearchDownload have this bug. It's a pretty scary one. I have to be sure I don't have it on my computer ...
By the way what CWM image is working ? The first or the second one ? (the two should work but I want to be sure before adding it to the main tutorial)
Thank you very much ! That's one more phone to the list of easily rootable Spreadtrums thanks to you !
Edit: And what FDLs you use precisely so I can rename the folder to reflect the use of this set for this phone (Is this the ones on the .pac firmware you've uploaded on the over topic ?)
RESEARCHDOWNLOAD R2.9.6010, with the R2.9.7002 everything's fine. Respect to the CWM images, after the error I tried with the second one, so maybe the first one also works, the FDLs that I used was extracted from the .pac dropbox.com/s/69yl8hn9361qpy5/FDLs-S6500-TV.tar
That's it, if I can help more, let me know.

[Q] Sony Xperia ZL / root

I tried many times to root the phone, unfortunately i couldn't.
Special thanks to user destroyedbeauty, he adviced my ( in PM ) step by step how to do it, but still no success.I followed the steps very careful.
When i tried to root, i didn't check USB Debugging & Unknown Sources.
Should i ?
Is there a way to install apps which require root, on the phone with no root ?
Below are the steps i tried to root the phone, adviced by the mentioned user.
I rather recommend that you install an kernel with pre-configed root access (Doomkernel / Advanced Stock kernel / XzK-kernel) by using built-in Fastboot in Flashtool. By doing this method, do this!!!:
1) Download kernel ZIP from specific kernel thread in "Xperia Z (Original) Android Development" thread section. Take anyone of these below, I also link Advanced Stock Kernel if you want complete stock Sony kernel with added init.d / root / recovery add-on / built-in!;
a) Xz-Gaming v1.0
b) XzK-Kernel v11.0
c) Doomkernel v19
d) AdvancedStockkernel
OBS!! Choice latest kernel from list in each thread for getting latest kernel that is optimized and made for your installed FW. Otherwise, problems can occur..
2) Extract boot.img from downloaded ZIP and put boot-file in Flashtool > Firmwares. After this, copy the same zip to your phone external / internal-SD card. Leave it there and continue read..
3) Turn off your phone and hold volume up, then connect phone to USB-cable. Keep an eye on LED notify lamp, see if it blinking blue - then you're connected in fastboot mode between phone and PC!
4) Open up Flashtool and push on the "Bolt-Button". Select fastboot, then go to firmware subfolder in your Flashtool folder on HDD and select extracted boot.img. Read log in flashtool, read it carefully. If everything seems to be normal, disconnect your phone and boot it up.
5) Go into recovery mode by either hammering volume up / volume down button and then choice "Install ZIP" option. Search after your ZIP file in recovery that contains boot.img and wifi-specific modules (critical for getting working WIF / Bluetooth!!).
6) After completed flashing, wipe cache and Dalvik cache (Dalvik can be found under Advanced section in recovery).
7) Reboot and voilá! Enjoy your custom kernel!
I only tried with "AdvancedStockkernel"
After step 4, the display stays black, nothing happent, no boot, no Sony logo, nothing.
I want to mention one more think : when i unlocked the bootloader 2 days ago, i followed this link :
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
It was successful. On the next step I was asked to write my email / imei / etc !!! Everything went ok.
After that, i tried to root and something went wrong, so i flashed whole .67 FTF in flashmode, again. Now is stock
Is the bootloader still unlocked, after i flashed .67 ftf in flashmode ? Could that be the reason i can't root the phone ?
Should i try again to unlock the bootloader, before i start again to root ?
Please help me guys.
Thank you

[Guide] Installing Custom Rom Xperia Ion (CM)

I have made this thread as a desperate attempt to minimize questions such as the one that follows. I have seen these questions clog up development threads and the responses are usually short and the user if extremely new to android, gets lost.
In making this guide, I have chosen to use the custom rom: CM-10 for Locked Bootloaders Rom shared by @optimumpro
I chose this rom due to the simple fact that the question was based from that thread AND because I myself use this rom.

Sorry to bother you all with my annoying questions, but, as far as twrp or cwm go, will titanium
backup suffice and how exactly do I install the rom?

The instructions as given are
1. Have JB latest Stock Kernel, Roger's Baseband in case of LT28i, Root and Recovery
2. Format System/Data/Cache in TWRP or Mount and Format the same in CWM
3. Install the ROM and Reboot. Nothing else is needed
here is the general breakdown if you are moving from Stock on XPERIA ION to in this example, the CM 10 rom for locked bootloaders.
------If from ICS, follow from step 1
------If from JB, follow from 1a
1)
1a)----Flash----
-You need flashtool (http://www.flashtool.net/index.php)
-You need the firmware (http://forum.xda-
developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752345)
You need to download the JB for Generic International Firmwares - LT28h and if you wish to have LTE for AT&T devices then
you must also download the latest JB for rogers (Rogers Stock Firmwares - LT28i)
First, Flash the Generic Ftf
(optional) For LTE, flash the Rogers Firmware with EVERYTHING excluded except for baseband
1b)----Root----
There are a few methods but personally I use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Download the current version (happens to be v33 at the moment)
-Connect phone to computer with Android Debugging Enabled with Unknown Sources
-Run the required File and follow the instructions in the Command Prompt Window
--It will complete the required steps and upon reboot, you will have root access.
-Install Busybox after root
1c)----Recovery----
-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30149181#poststop
--Download RECOVERY for XperiaIon v.4.zip
-Connect phone with same requirements for root
--extract and run the .bat file->done
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SPECIFIC ROM YOU WANT ALREADY ON YOUR INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL SD CARD BEFORE CONTINUING you have been warned
2) CWM MENU SELECTION
-Upon Reboot a BLUE LED should appear, immediately hold the volume DOWN key, CWM menu should appear
--Scroll using the volume and select using the power key--
-Go to Storage and as instructed by the CM 10 Rom I specified, wipe System/Data/Cache
For more information on the CWM menu breakdown visit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...neral/ref-cwm-clockworkmode-menu-options-t1542857
------OPTIONAL BACKUP------
-If you would like to make a backup of your current rom, go to option 4 the Nandroid menu and select the Backup Option
3) INSTALL
Then go back to main menu, to go the INSTALL MENU
and select choose zip from (external/interenal (depends on where you stored the zip))
-navigate to zip location-> select-> yes-> install
-----wait patiently-----
Reboot
Done
I think you should talk about making data backup too. For a newbie, he may never know that he should first have a back up and how to go about it.

STEP2:
Flash HM 1S-System-Menu1.3-test.zip...Select English->Press Next->Accept and Press Next->Enter the function->Install and uninstall->Install the dual system.....This installs Dual-System and gets rebooted to recovery, meaning dual system got installed!!

////**Manual System switching process: **///
Flash HM 1S-System-Menu1.3-test.zip Follow the prompts to enter the main menu -> enter the function ->System Switching -> and select a System of your choice and proceed and Finally reboot !!!
***///Wanna change rom or try a new ROM keeping the other still///***
Stay on the System on which you want to try a new ROM....Reboot to recovery...
Flash HM 1S-System-Menu-Test1.3.zip and Follow the prompts to enter the main menu -> enter the function ->clear data->
Continuing which will wipes and factory Resets the current Rom....After proceeding further enter RECOVERY....
and Flash the ROM u wanna Try...and repeat #STEP5 and install switching software on new system!!(Hope U Understand)!!!
For reverting back...we need to flash Sysrec.zip once again and flash Sysmenu.zip and follow uninstall procedure...then everything will be normal...

I don't think restoring nandroid data will work... Because....as u can see there are two two folders inside root/data/.......by restoring data from recovery will first wipes current root/data content and writes content from backup....so no dual-system!!! Hope you understand....tell me whether u have installed dual system? If so once see inside root/data /....u will get it!

Note 1: Two Roms will be installed with two separate system partitions....all u can do things like installing custom add-ons or patches either being on system1 or system 2..use switching software to switch between system partition 1or 2...
Note 2: U can switch to system of ur choice from recovery...by flashing HM1s-system-menu.zip...there u will c an option to switch system...hope u understand if u had read the procedure with a bit of pathence!

figured it out myself, for everybody else
won't format external sd card
and apps will be installed separately
Maybe some mistakes in step 2. The dev recommended unmount system, data and cache before installed Dual-System (doesn't matter really). Some user may need install it twice to success for unknown factors. And as I know on earlier versions, after you installed Dual-System, both partitions are empty. You need to flash a rom to system 1. But I haven't try v1.3 yet so I don't know if anything changed.
The tutorial seems so long but it's very reasonable to proceed.
1. (unnecessary for the 1st time) recover your phone's status - flash sysrec.zip
2. install the dual-boot system - flash into aroma and choose the option
3. flash a rom to current (1st) system - flash it in recovery
4. (optional but recommended) install a switcher in the rom - install it in the aroma, caution the options, don't choose the wrong system
5. switch to system2 - switch directly in the aroma, or [ boot your phone to use the switcher app (after that plz press vol+ to enter recovery because system2 is empty now)]
6. flash another rom to current (2nd) system - just flash it in recovery, it will be in system2
7. (optional but recommended) install a switcher in the rom - install it in the aroma, caution the options, don't choose the wrong system
now you have dual system installed.
For changing between systems, use the switcher (if installed) or change in the aroma installer.
For replacing a rom, switch to the rom you unwanted, and reboot to recovery and flash the new one.
For clear data, don't use recovery,it will clear both. Use the aroma (change to the system you want to clear data and choose clear current).
For miui user, special for miui is actually for miui 6 because /system/app can't get root permission in miui 6.
For uninstall, do it in aroma and then flash sysrec.zip
