Does anyone have a CWM Flashable version of the T999VVLDLL1 Jelly Bean Modem? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

As you all know, the T999V variants and T999 can not flash the radio/modem files interchangeably between the two.
As such, does anyone have a copy of the Modem? I'm currently running an JB Rom with an ICS Modem and getting some really sad speeds. I checked the Sticky here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880987
and it is currently not posted.
If anyone is using this Modem, I believe you could follow the steps in this guide to a certain extent:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27584839#post27584839
Thanks in advance to all that reply!

after further googling, I think all I need is some kind soul to extract the modem.bin from their phones. Afterwards, I think I have enough tech savvy to repackage the Modem.bin into a CWM ZIP file for public consumption.
Please follow the steps using either ADB or Terminal on your phone to extract the modem and then post it here. Thank you!
Requirements:
1. CWM Recovery & root (Thanks Chainfire!)
2. ADB setup and know how to use it! or Terminal Emulator app
3. Samsung KIES drivers installed
4. Power on device, Enable USB debugging
**If you don’t how to do above, then XDA forum search and Google is your friend**
Steps:
1. Dump your current modem onto your internal sdcard
# Run Terminal Emulator app and input steps b -> e

c) dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7 of=/sdcard/modem.bin bs=4096

e) exit

Nobody sent me anything, so I extracted the modem.bin file from a root66 kies odin file:

Just wanted to say thanks for doing this. I offered a month ago to do this for the thread if someone could help me figure out how to export the modem and I see you just sat down and figured it out. Thanks for the taking the time to do this, Support Canada! T999V forever!

How does this compare to VLLH2 in terms of battery life and performance?

For me it's the same as the previous version. Maybe better signal if you are far from the tower.

Anyone know why does the updater script and radio file still say VLLH2 for the baseband file name? I'm assuming that it is just a left-over from reusing the packaging from the previous baseband zip.
Has anyone tried this and confirmed that it is truly VLDLL1 via the About/Phone menu?
File sizes are different -- new version is quite a bit smaller...so they are not identical...

I'm getting mixed inputs here. I have a t999 T-Mobile Galaxy S III and every time I update my Cyanogenmod ROM (which I've been doing for years) everything goes smooth but when the device boots up, it says "unknown" for the baseband version. If I flash the UVDMD5 radio it goes back to normal. But every single time I flash a new nightly this happens. Just wondering if this is a fix for that or if there I no fix. I rooted with the stock root injected .tar file just like I've done 3 separate times. This is the only one of my 3 S3's that has done this. I confirmed that it was NOT a t999L model before anything. Is there a possibility that this device could be a non t999 without saying it is? Or is it possible that this is a t999L model without showing that it is? I'm very lost here. Nobody seems to have the same issue as me. I've searched through hundreds of thread pages to no avail. Help please somebody?

I've no idea why it would do that. Sounds like some sort of Rom issue maybe? If it was anything but a T999, the md5 modem would not work btw. But I've never heard of thus before, so it could be some sort of unknown corruption somewhere in another partition. Purely a guess on that though.
If you Odin back to the LJA, or any other build does it still do this? Does it happen when you flash any Rom? Or just cm? If it's only cm, then I'd ask in the Rom thread. What about other kinds of flashes, such as kernels, recoveries and mods?

[Q] Sprint Epic 4G Touch (NY,USA) Baseband

My rooting went horribly wrong.
I admit, I rushed it, was sleep deprived, and inpatient.
Right now, my phone looks very much like stock BUT
My issue is: I have no provider set on my phone. In other words, its as if my phone is unable to connect to Sprint's network.

When I try to update the PRL from system updates, below is the result...
I used some combination of the following files:
SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse
S2Root_1.4.3_Release
Litening_Rom_v6-1.rar
acs-eb30-clockwork-epic-touch-4g-sep-20-4-00-pm.tar
EG30-Stock-OdexV2.zip
Stock-EG30.tar
Also tried calling sprint customer support...no help
At this point, what would be the fastest way to get my phone into a state in which it is once again recognized by Sprint
I don't think a prl update will populate the baseband version.
Have you tried starting over by flashing Stock-EG30.tar ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420 ) and then doing a factory reset?
After that, update both your profile and prl.
By the way...
some of the files you listed appear to be for the i9100. Despite the similar naming convention, the Epic Touch (D710) is different from the i9100 and cannot directly re-use i9100 roms, kernels, etc.

Um, you realize that the superclick instructions you followed are intended for international SGS2 users, not Epic Touch?
oops. still, one of u guys must be able to figure this out. I've been working on it a lot, first day with the droid, was trying to root my GF's phone and I pooped her new toy. I was all confident cause I knew how to JB iphones. I've got a sprint ticket to get it fixed.
By the way, in doing so I obtained my MSL...
I'm thinking you hosed your modem. The first three things you mentioned in the list you tried are, as was pointed out, for the International version. By flashing these you've put the wrong radio into your phone.
This thread has a link to a modem.bin download.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17617227
Search the Dev thread (sorry, on my phone so I can't come up with the link) on how to flash it. Once you do that, flash "stock kernel pulled from unrooted phone" (you'll see a link to it in the thread I just gave you). Then I think you'll be ok.
And, even though it's the same basic phone, ONLY flash stuff you find in this forum.
.....
Why are all these people flashing things from another phone? Thyself like the first rule of flashing. Flash the eg30 tar and then the eg30 modem.bin for your baseband. Thy should fix it. Good luck.

[APP] kTool for the SGS3 - easiely backup/restore kernel, recovery, EFS

Hey ho
kTool - a little helper app some might know from the S2 - is now fully compatible with the Galaxy S3
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
For those who don't know about it, here's a quick rundown of the features:
Dump current kernel and recovery
Flash kernel from /sdcard/zImage
Flash recovery from /sdcard/recovery.bin
Backup EFS
(as raw .IMG dump and as .TAR archive)
Check/Verify EFS backup (i.e. compare to "live" EFS)
Restore EFS from either .IMG or .TAR
Open stock update .TARs and flash from from it:
- Modem Firmware
- PARAM.LFS
- Kernel
- (Recovery to be added in a later update)
Reboot device
- normally
- to recovery
- to download mode
And here's the original release thread in the S2 section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18652863
Find more details (and screenshots) and answers in that thread, however if you got more questions or suggestions you can post them in this thread as well
You can grab the app from Google Play (free):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.ktool
Also, as there will be as many different variants of the S3 as there are for the S2, it might happen that you got an S3 but the app refuses to run.
In that case, please send me (via PM, email or posted in this thread) a screenshot of the "Incompatible Device" dialog and I'll update the app
Hope you like it.
Thanx M8.
How 'bout a new kernel. In Dev. Maybe.. lol
Seriously great work used it on my gs2.
Wow,
Great Job, thank you very much.
Now everything on air for SGS3,
Now I can test any Kernel, since I have backup of the stock kernel to go back:good::good::good:

Could you do me a favour and open a shell/terminal on the phone and paste me the output of the "mount" command?
Also what are the sizes of the created "efs.img" and "efs.tar.gz" files?

Yes the 747 will terminal emulator work?

OK, that helps a lot already, thanks!
I'll prep a testbuild and if you don't mind you can test it?
Did it fail the check for the .TAR as well, because as far as I can see, the .TAR backup schould have worked.
// EDIT
Hmm, the next big question is, is this for all US variants or only the AT&T one.... guess I'll need to wait till someone with one of the other variants shows up and will take them out again for now....
// EDIT 2
Ouch, and what about kernel, recovery, modem and all the other partitions.... gotta find a way to figure out those too....
// EDIT 3
And me again....
Could you please try the following command in the terminal as well:
Code:
su
ls -al /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name
If it gives a list of entries, please paste it to me Thanks!
// EDIT 4
OK, finding clues for more and more differences.... why Samsung, oh why do you do this....?
I could also use the output of
Code:
su
ls -al /efs
*sigh*

When I flash back stock backed up zImage kernel, on any custom kernel, the recovery flashed along with that custom kernel will be retained? can I use that recovey with stock kernel?
Yeah.
The S3 uses a seperate recovery this time (unlike the S2, where the recvoery was part of the main kernel).
So if you flash a kernel, the recovery will remain unchanged.
OK, I think I found a partition layout for the i747 - maybe someone can confirm this being correct?

Sweet. Beats keeping up with every modem file seperately. I had 5-6 modems saved on my sdcard with my skyrocket. And I'll bet before long there'll be at least 6 modems advailable for the SGS3. At least with this, theres only one zip I need to look for. Thanks

No, you need CWM or TWRP or anything except stock recovery. There are other ways to update your modem with stock recovery though.

Do I just go into cwm and flash the zip and it automatically selects one? I opened the zip on my pc and It shows LH1 or LH4. For my Rogers S3. Sorry I just don't quite understand how this tool works if I flash a. Zip file
I tried to pm you but it doesn't show up in my sent messages. Trying to figure out what modem I could choose or how this tool works ifiI'm just flashing it? And do I clear any cache?

after flashed a N7100 Rom to my I317M, I got unknown baseband and IMEI

I got my galaxy note ii from Canada Rogers network just yesterday. In order to add more language option, I falshed a N7100 ROM to my I317M. After that I got no signal on the phone, and I check into the 'about device' option, I see unknown baseband, IMEI, network and so on. I had backup the efs file, but when I trying to flash back to my phone, just nothing happen.
I did research on that, find out that to flash a stock ROM maybe have a chance to fix the problem. however, I can not find a Rogers stock ROM anywhere, so I am writing to ask if someone can help me about to fix the phone. Thanks very much.
Consider yourself LUCKY you don't have a brick right now. There is a reason there are different threads on here for each of the galaxy note 2 variants. There was talk about being able to flash roms of one variant on to another but I don't think much lead way was made. My suggestion to you is, 1. find a stock i317M rom and flash it using pc odin and then stick only to the thread corresponding to the variant you have to flash custom roms!

If you hunt around in the different variants development forums, you'll see that it's possible to flash roms from one variant to another. The catch is, if the variants have different radios (LTE/HSPA vs just HSPA), you'll lose all cell functions, which is exactly what happened to the OP. That's probably not a trade-off most people are willing to make, but I'm hopeful this is an easy issue for devs to overcome.

[Q] Moving beyond Cyanogenmod 10

I just rooted my wife's Sprint Galaxy S3 (d2spr) and managed to install Cyanogenmod 10. Back when we were on another carrier, I had installed later versions of the ROM, but only after a LOT of reading. Running the latest CWM, running the latest TWRP, doesn't matter. I cannot install later versions. The wiki says:
WARNING: Firmware update notice
CM10.1 and newer are not compatible with ICS bootloaders on this device. Update your device's firmware or you will get assert failures in recovery.
That is exactly my problem, but how do I perform this firmware update? I hope it's not an issue of reverting to stock, because Knox was enough trouble to overcome. I referred to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677 to update the baseband, which just stopped the phone from connecting to towers.
What am I missing? Where do I get this firmware? Once updated, will I then be able to avoid further Status 7 errors? (Editing the updater-script every time seems like a hoaky band-aid when one has downloaded the exact, correct, tailor-made ROM.) Thanks a lot to the community. I've learned everything I know from these forums, and I felt like I had hit enough of a dead end to ask for help.
I think you would have to odin a stock jb .tar, NOT KITKAT and then you reroot and flash whatever rom you want. Some of your concerns might be alleviated if you use tibu and back-up apps to an external sd, as well as nandroid to an external sd.
Edit: CNexus or Freeza might have their stock .tars for jb versions around here, they even come rooted too
Edit 2: This thread might have what you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947
I suggest waiting until someone else confirms though (but if I'm right you'll want the link that says "firmware/modem/baseband update", the 5th link)

Because i have read a bit about it and i believe that flashing the firmware might wipe internal data and it comes with knox as well. And from what you posted, all you need is a jb firmware. But that's also why I said to wait until someone more knowledgeable confirms what I'm saying

n00b-xda-disciple's Wicked X Video review
Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII on TouchWiz 4.4.2 with Conquest: Singularity v5.2, Ktoonsez' latest kernel and the latest Philz Touch Recovery.
You people are awesome!
Thank you. I will try it tomorrow, and check back. Samsung has done a lot to thwart rooting lately, and I didn't want to close any doors by installing something TouchWiz-based.
Argh!

If you go to that same thread and find the spoiler under "old versions" (bottom of post #1) you can flash the "MB1 firmware/modem/baseband update" as well

Hold the phone! (Pun intended) There are two context clues in your op that lead me to believe that you should under no circumstances flash any firmware found in that firmware thread linked here.

If you have Knox your bootloader cannot be downgraded.

The only time I've personally witnessed this behavior is on the ND8 bootloader. If you don't know which bootloader you're on already you would be wise to find out before flashing any firmware file.
You've all given good advice, but the best advice came too late. The phone no longer powers on because of the baseband update I was attempting. I'm now waiting for a MicroSD card to show up so that I can attempt this:
