Boost Mobile Galaxy S2 SPH-D710BST - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok, I'm sincerely hoping the mods don't flame me for posting this thread, but I wanted to talk about the experience I had getting a Sprint ROM flashed over and working properly on a Boost Galaxy S2. I've looked and most of the threads regarding this phone are in the "EPIC 4G TOUCH" threads. And yes, while the Boost Galaxy S2 is identical to its Sprint twin, it has been a bit of a pain for me to get it rooted and running a custom ROM on Boost, as most of the ROM's out there are designed for Sprint. I wanted to start this thread to let anyone else know the steps I had to take to get this thing up and running 100% on Boost Mobile.
First, I used a root guide (the link to which I cannot post the link because I'm a new user) at AndoidForums posted by guyphs (much thanks to you) to get it rooted. This method uses an AGAT kernel and recovery, which I don't particularly care for. So the next step was to flash CWM, which wasn't difficult, it just took two tries to flash and work correctly. Once you're rooted and have your custom recovery running, **MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP*** (TRUST ME, this will come in handy later).
Once it was running, I got Paranoid Android 2.56 from you fine folks here on XDA. Once I flashed it, the problems began. The first thing was a MMS problem (which is common), but CM-based Paranoid Android doesn't like to let you use the dialer codes to edit the MMS proxy settings to fix this. You actually have to open the Voice Dialer then speak "Open APN's" to edit these thing. Once you delete all the old APN's, you can create a new one based on the original Boost Settings (which you should have written down before you started all this mess), After that the MMS started working.
Then I noticed that I wasn't getting a 3G or 4G Data connection. Come to find out, the Sprint ROM flashed a different modem version, so I had to find a different modem that was compatible. That turned out to be the FI27 Modem. Once I flashed this modem, the data connection was restored, but I noticed that the 3G/4G data speeds were HORRIBLE and the signal strength was very low. But the ROM and everything was working correctly so I made another Nandroid Backup (more on that in a minute)
Turns out, I had an old PRL. The newest Boost PRL is #61009 but the one I had was a Sprint PRL. Since I know jack-squat about CDMA workshop and editing/flashing PRL's, I wanted to find an easier way. Turns out there is a WAY easier way. Just use your aforementioned Nandroid Backup (the first one) to flash back to Stock ROM w/root. Once the phone reboots, your PRL will be updated to 61009 when the Network sees the new device connecting.
As soon as the PRL updated, I simply flashed back to my Paranoid Android image, and BANG! everything is working smooth as silk and super fast. I didn't lose the PRL or the FI27 modem during the flashing back to PA.
And I only pay $50 a month. no more getting the shaft from Verizon, and I was one of the "lucky ones" to have Unlimited Data.
**MODS. Sorry if I posted something that was posted before. I searched but couldn't find any post along these lines. Just wanted to let the folks know about how to get this sucker running like a champ.

I've done exactly everything you've done, and STILL I can only send mms messages, but I still can't receive them, I erased all the APNs and entered a new one with the following settings...
Name = Sprint
APN = Boost_Mobile
Proxy =
Port =
Username =
Password =
Server =
MMSC = http://mm.myboostmobile.com
MMS proxy =
MMS port =
MCC = 310
MNC = 120
Authentication type= PAP or CHAP
APN type =
APN protocol = IPv4
APN roaming protocol - IPv4
APN enable/disable (greyed out) = Apn enabled
Bearer = Unspecified
I sent you a PM, if you got everything working, let me know what settings you used.

,,,,,,,,,,you can get all of these for our phone at [ it has them all. Btw if anyone can post in development. Please let me know. Our phone is not supported by mobile Odin. Its a shame. It would make life a lot easier for us. Ty Won't let me post link. So Google rwilco12 android repository. I don't understand why its so difficult here to help people. Anyway Google that and you should hit on his page. if not pm me. Hopefully I'll have some freedom there..good luck guy and post back

I like Rwilco12's repository. It's a great place to find individual files when you don't know where else to look.
I also understand how.you feel about posting links and such here.. I know why those rules exist, but I really can't see how posting helpful links is somehow a 'bad thing'. I could understand if I were posting links to garbage.. But when the intent of the post is purely beneficial, I think you should be allowed to post a link...even if it's the first post you've ever made in the forums.

Try this it worked for me ..flash in recovery...it should do the trick

I was noticing after some testing using the PA Rom that my 4G speeds were noticeably slower. I had never really tested them before while I was running the Stock Rom, so I didn't have a baseline to go off of, thus I didn't really know what kind of speeds to expect from Boost/Sprint.
So on the PA Rom with the FI27 modem, I would average between 500-800kbps download speeds over 3G. With 4G, the average was about 1.5-2mbps.
To test, I went back to the Stock Rom, unrooted, and was getting close to 1.5mbps down on 3G and 7-10mbps on 4G.
After rooting, the data speeds were painfully slow. About 50kbps down on 3G and 200kbps down on 4G! Ouch..
I read on here, that custom kernels will destroy Data speeds..I can confirm this.. lol
So I flashed this kernel from SexTape(much thanks) over at SXTP Developers: SXTP_Agat_BSTFI22-v0.1.0.zip WHICH, fixed all my borked data speeds.
This kernel comes with the custom recovery from Agat63(thanks for all your hard work Bro!) so if you're running the Stock FI22 Rom, all you have to do is flash this and SuperUser, and you're ROOTED.
Only thing is, my Baseband and Bulid Number now show up as FL24, not FI22. But don't really care, as long as my phone is stable and running as fast over the mobile data network as it is now.
Thanks to Sextape and Agat63 for their work on this phone.

If everything else is showing FL24 - which is the current Boost build - you may want the FL24 kernel + repack. Has a few more tweaks than the stock FI22... not to mention the Exynos exploit patched:

Garwynn,
This is what I'm showing now under About Phone. Is this correct or do you think I need the FL24 repack.

Have to check but think that kernel is fi22 compile as I didn't remove the dirty flag.

I flashed the FL24 v2.0 you linked to.. My data speeds were WAY lower than what i was getting with the FI22 v1.0 kernel repack.
I flashed back this morning because I use my Nexus 7 tethered to my SGS2 at work and wouldn't be able to tolerate low data speeds.lol

Download the FL24 + Agat's recovery kernel:
http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=119
...and this file:
http://garwynn.rainmotorsports.net/subusybox.zip
Flash the kernel in Odin or Mobile Odin, then the zip in Agat's recovery.
Boom! Re-rooted!

I was never rooted before this. This is my first attempt at rooting my device will your link still work? And i cannot flash via ODIN because my windows will not recognize my phone, i am trying to figure out how to use Heimdall on my mac, do i just flash the same file in heimdall?
I think i figured out how to install via heimdall, i must extract the .tar and i end up with a zImage, then i use cli to flash heimdall: heimdall flash --kernel zImage
I will let you know my results, thanks garwynn.
edit: worked like a charm. device is rooted now thanks a bunch dude. that really helped out

Garwynn, has anyone had any luck getting Google Now working with this ROM? If it's deodexed, we should just be able to flash it over right?

IMEI injected, stuck on Edge

I lost my IMEI flashing a CM10 nightly for my i747 on AT&T. I was able to inject the IMEI back via QPST. I now see the correct IMEI listed in About, however I can only connect to the Edge network. I extracted a QCN image per the development thread after using Odin to flash Root69, however was unable to use Peoplearmy / DX's tool to generate a new QCN file to push back to the phone as an error was generated.
Phone: GS3 i747
Network: AT&T
IMEI SV: 05
I am "In Service" and "Not Roaming".

Sounds like an issue people with Sprint phones had when flashing certain Roms they would lose theyre RSA keys thus losing 4G. Could be a Radio related issue also... Do you have the latest Radios? is Wifi working for ya?
I have not changed anything with the radios. I can see 3 APNs, one of which is ATT LTE. A number of settings seem to not be set. I can see and use WiFi without issue.

So all you did was flash a CM10 nightly and that killed your imei? Not sure that's possible. It just writes to your system partition. Are you sure you didn't do anything else? Did the CM10 update have updated radios or something else? Seems very odd.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
Installation was as follows:
* Stock
* Use Odin to flash Root69 for rooted stock ROM
* Install RomManager from Play store
* Use Superuser to grant RomManager root to install ClockworkMod
* Download CM10 nightly, 08-21, d2att
* Use CWM to flash CM10, 08-21
I experienced some bad echo on phone calls. Change log seemed to indicate that that may be fixed in newer version.
* Use CWM to flash CM10, 08-25
* Discover No Sound, Known Bug fixed in 08-26
* Use CWM to flash CM10, 08-24 as 26 wasn't out
* Sound works
* Time lag?
* IMEI=0
Trying to think of anything else. Trying to remember if I went back to 21. Face unlock didn't work past 21, but pattern failsafe did.

Just curious, based on the quoted text it sounds like you are back on CM10. When you did the ODIN back to rooted stock, was that at a point where your injectected IMEI was looking good, and you still had edge only? I'm just suggesting to see if the problem remains on rooted stck if you haven't already.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, I am on CM10 at the moment. I injected the IMEI against rooted stock. I extracted the QCN image also against rooted stock. Both rooted stock and CM10 08-21 connect to only Edge.

It's absolutely possible, as the very same thing happened to me. Was the CM10 preview. Fortunately I was able to reinject my imei via peoplearmy's excellent work.
I ended up rolling back to a stock rooted nandroid before reinjection, just because I found it easier to get the phone into RMNet mode on stock. (And I was freaking out at the time, too.)
Just to be clear, I believe the imei loss has to do with flashing to the S3 with IMEI V2 in general, and nothing in particular to do with CM10. I plan on flashing a stable CM10 nightly very soon, probably this weekend, I really liked it.

For steps involving CM10, I rebooted into recovery via the power long press menu.
For rooted stock, I gave it the three fingered salute on boot up.

Mt theory is that if you reboot from power menu the radio is still active since it's a soft reboot hence possibility for corruption. If you power the phone off and then go into recovery, the radio is not on so less chance for corruption. It fits your case.
Wonder if we have more examples. As a techie, there is no way that just flashing CM10 can corrupt imei if it's just writing to system. This is standard Android stuff. However if for some reason you're going into recovery and the radio is still on maybe that's the issue.

Which network are you on? Were you able to connect to 4G after the IMEI injection or did you need Peoplearmy's tool?
My IMEI reads correctly, however I still am being rejected by the 4G network, thus falling back to 2G from the sim card.

There are a ton more examples. Losing IMEI is a major documented issue. There are two separate tools/processes developed to fix it, and a big thread tracking down root causes. Speculation is it's related to IMEI V2, but here are the threads.

I had not made a backup, and did need peoplearmy's SGS3 QCN Generator tool to rebuild the imei. I'm on AT&T. Don't have LTE up here in BFE Alaska, but I can connect to HSPA+ now so '4G' is working. Speedtest shows 4meg down/1meg up which will work for me.
I am starting to think I see where the remaining issue is - I have IMEI SV 05. This probably explains why Peoplearmy's tool does not successfully generate a QCN for me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Not sure the imei version makes a difference for the restore part of it. The losing imei being related to having imei v2 was a theory proposed in one of those threads, but it may not be related

I've done plenty phones, some which said never use the reboot menu, and some like showcase/mesmerize that you have to do it to get into the correct cwm when ics was first released... I like your theory... I have always avoided the power menu to recovery, and if their is a problem with imei sv 02, i stayed on that for a long time, flashing whatever without problems...
OP, Have you tried putting your modem back to LEM before trying Peoplearmy's post?
This definitely struck a chord.
Runing into similar issue
I have run into a similar issue. I had tried to install custom roms onto my phone and ran into a issue with reliability. I attempted to return to stock firmware. can't send text messages or make calls
having the same issue. I got the SGS3 and tried to root it. When I started, I tried flashing the clockworkmod recovery through odin first, it would complete, but my recovery would still be stuck as the factory original stock...? then i tried flashing the att stock rom with root injected and lost my imei. I reinjected it and it now shows the correct IMEI. now sometimes the phone fails to send or receive messages, fails to call or receive calls at times, and when I try to use the mobile data, it is stuck on edge. If I factory reset it, I get 4G for around literally 2 minutes and it just goes back to edge. Also, I read that people have multiple APNs listed under Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. I only seem to have one - it says AT&T PTA.

[Q] What ROMs support 4G LTE?

New phone, and I already feel like a n00b again. Flame on if you wish, but here goes:
So I have a shiny new G S3, and after futzing with it and finding it full of the normal carrier crapware, figure it is easier just to flash it to something custom. So I get Cyanogenmod all ready, clockwork recovery set, flash, all pretty much with no drama (besides the normal USB driver fight) and... I have no 4G.
Now I *DID* have 4G on the sprint ROM, so I know that I am both in the service area as well as activated. I get *NO* data unless I switch the moble networks option to "CDMA/evDO auto". Then 3G works just fine. Put it on "LTE/CDMA/EvDo" and nothing (I can still make calls though).
I've tried the stable 10.0.0-d2spr build, a few of the nightlies, and one particular one I found on another thread (the 20121226 nightly build) and none of these do 4G.
So on this phone, do I need a radio or something (coming from the HTC world) along with the ROM itself? Is there some type of activation or registration apk I should be seeing and am just missing? I see all kinds of posts from last year about this phone from people who don't seem to even have 4G where they are... but not a single screenshot from anyone that shows the 4G connection icon on any custom ROM.
I'm willing to try just about any ROM, although I'd like to keep it to ones I can flash from clockwork recovery.
If it is of any hint, I couldn't use heimdall... got "protocol error"... but was able to install Samsung drivers and install clockwork with Odin with no problem at all.
It works on every rom based on the official firmware. (Freegs, freezas rom, blazer rom, etc) almost anything in android development.
A prl and profile update would probably do you some good.
I believe even cm supports lte, but I'm not much an aosp guy. You could try updating to the latest radio, May help.
I wish I could be more help, but I'm not a pro in this area as I don't have lte in my town yet. Lol
Id also recommend using twrp through goo.im

Cm does support 4G, as I had it on the stable version. Worked just fine. Restore your stock version, update profile and PRL then restore or re flash cm10 and it should work just fine.
I will post a screenshot later on cm10 with 4G.

I took this LTE speed test the day I downloaded and installed LiquidSmooth beta 3.2.1. Worked on LTE for me, flawlessly.

This may be a dumb question, but if I did that prior to flashing (I activated the phone, and started the reflash about an hour after that, but with LTE working), wouldn't the restore and then reflash just overwrite it again? Is there some way to back up the profile/prl, or some aftermarket/Sprint app to do it on a custom ROM? (or some secret phone number sequence, which I can't seem to find?)
I'm now on Liquidsmooth 3.2.1, and although nice, it also seems not to like LTE mode (no data/Internet at all).
Here's another new thought, though: when I'm on LTE mode in "mobile networks", and then go into About Phone -> Status, it does say "Mobile network type: LTE:13" with "service state: in service" and "roaming: Not Roaming" and I can make calls... so it looks like possibly an activation problem or something? Is there a set of passwords or auth keys stored somewhere that may need updating?

I'm pretty sure updating PRL and profiles just updates your radios, so it doesn't effect it if you restore a ROM. But don't quote me on that. There is a good chance I am wrong. All I know is I see around that seems to fix the error a lot, stock updating prl then restoring to cm10.

... and got back a stock image (and recovery) just like promised (Billiard412, you, sir, rock!). And with it, my 4G, working Sprint tether app, (can you tell what the most important feature is to me?)... and briefly thought of leaving it this way and trying to live with the crapware.
But... for science... I reflashed CM stable as those above suggested... and back exactly to where I was before. No data coverage at all unless I put it in EvDo mode.
Poking at the settings tab while on Sprint ROM, if anyone cares, the PRL doesn't change (still 24010) but the Sprint image did give me a filled in ICCID (the CM had that blank) as well as a "username". The mobile network type was now "LTE:14" (rather than "LTE:13" like it was on CM before and after) .
Sigh.
Might ye gods of XDA have any words of wisdom (I'll even take sympathy, at this point). No Nelson laughs, please.

The problem is with CM10. It does support LTE, but there was a problem with the APN settings that causes the problems you're experiencing. There is a file you can flash on CM10.0 that will fix your problem, but you may be better off looking for a nightly from 12/26 or later (I think that was the first nightly with the fix, but I don't remember), or just jump to CM10.1. All CM10.1 nightlies have the fix in place already.

I searched the CM10 thread and was able to locate the LTE handoff update. Unfortunately, the link no longer comes up in dropbox. I do, however, have it on my computer, but as I am not the original creator of the ZIP, I'm not sure about sharing something I did not create, as well as I do not know who the original creator is. If anyone out there can give me the permission, of or from, the original owner of the zip, I'll add it here.

Download, but do NOT extract. Flash AOSP/CM rom first, then kernel of choice (if you don't use provided kernel for rom, and finally, flash the update. As always, prior to beginning a new rom install, always wipe data/factory reset/wipe dalvik cache.

[Q] How to edit E975 ROM to work on LS970

I would like some help changing a ROM from E975 to flash on my LS970, has anyone been successful at this?
I found a rom that is only for the E975 and I really want to check it out.
Here's what I have done so far:
I changed the updater-script to say the same as my phone so it would flash.
At this point I was able to flash the ROM and it booted great but I had no mobile network information.
So then I also edited the build.prop so my phone info would be there and I was able to change from 4G only to other mobile settings.
The ROM booted and worked great except I kept getting force closes, "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped working"
I get this constantly, sometimes overlapping others. Until I turn off data or turn on airplane mode. So it is something to do with data, does anyone have any ideas?
I looked at other ls970 ROMs to match the settings in the build.prop but I still get the phone fc's.
(No I did not just pull one and slap it in another)
I am referring to the telephony lines, the ones that need to be edited and added in PA to make it work.
Things that work:
Everything that does not require mobile data to be turned on. (everything works if on wifi)
I can send/receive calls and texts, mms on wifi.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I have brought it up in the thread for the rom but I don't want to mention it here unless asked since I know the devs of some roms don't want mirrors (not that I would but I don't want to prompt someone to link me to a mirror of a modified version)
Basically I am trying to make an E975 ROM work on my LS970 and what the steps are to make it happen.
I just made a team to attempt that very thing. Data is being our issue. I'm pretty sure the variety of modems they have are our issue. We're trying to make stock Roms cross platform. Similar to what xbox did with Gee and Geeb.

That's awesome! I would offer my assistance but this is beyond me. Would you mind letting me know what you did when it is finished?
If I get it to work I will definitely post back, it may help you as well.
Basically what I have is an e975 ROM that is specific for that device. What have you got working so far? Is the modem part of the install package? Can I flash the ZVC modem from recovery for a specific ROM or is that in a different partition and affects the whole phone and every other ROM I install?
I am using the multiboot method so I am worried about my other ROMs I have installed, I don't want them to go out of whack since they work for the most part.
EDIT: I am up to testing anything you want to throw this way if that helps.
Here's the thread I started over there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2749491 In a nutshell, calls are working, data is being random for working or not. And LTE is a no go.
We're trying to just get a working baseline that's consistent, but so far weird things keep happening.
Jake wasn't too sure if it's even possible with stock. But we're trying.
I'll PM you shortly, and fill you in.

[Q] No Mobile Data at all? -- 4.4.3 Shiny

I really, really hope this hasn't been asked before and I apologize in advance...
I have a GNex (MAGURO)
and today I CLEAN flashed 4.4.3 Shiny Rom and flashed the region appropriate maguro radio as well.
After booting up and all the setting up was done, I was not able to connect to my mobile data at all. Wifi works excellent but as soon
as I turn on my Mobile Data, I get absolutely no connection whatsoever. I've rebooted several times and nothing has changed.
I've never experienced a complete data drop like this on all the other roms i have flashed for previous builds.
HELP is needed ASAP because i rely heavily on my Mobile Data and my phone is basically useless without it.
Thanks
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you sure you flashed the shiny rom for maguro? This sounds like exactly what would happen if you flashed Toro instead.

this is the thread i got the rom from

and im 100% sure its maguro
Hmmm. I was hoping for an easy solution..... If it were me and I had a backup where data worked, I'd go back to that and see if it still works. Then maybe try a different 4.4.3 rom like cyanogenmod or paranoid to see if it's other roms that also have this problem. After all that, if you still want shiny, try deleting your file and download it again. Hope this helps! Good luck. Let me know if it works out.

just to make things clear, Galaxy Nexus (GSM) is maguro...right?
I was hoping for an easy one too lol..
I actually have a backup already and the data works perfectly on it (AOKP 4.2.2)
I've flashed Shiny 4.4.3 before today and had the same problem. I posted this same question on the thread that i got the download from (rootzwiki)
but got no response so i just reverted back to my AOKP 4.4.2 backup. I really want 4.4.3 so thats why I came back to Shiny.
i will definitely look into other 4.4.3 roms and retry downloading the Shiny file. I will let you know if things work out.
Thanks for your help
UPDATE...
I have flashed LiquidSmooth 4.4.3 and it has sat in my phone for over 12 hours and the data works normal again...
Although the data works, im not too keen on some of the features included like the boot animation, fonts and the liquid blue themed icons.
yes i understand its because its THEIR rom and they can put what they want. But, my original goal was to get a 4.4.3 rom as close to stock as possible while awaiting AOKP's 4.4.3 rom release (because im very familiar with aokp roms) and it's the only alternative i have for a 4.4.3 rom with working data. so i guess im going to have to make do with what i have and wait.
thanks to whoever helped
HOWEVER
i am still open to suggestions on how to get 4.4.3 Shiny Rom working on my Gnex

Why did you flash a new baseband? Not a necessary step...so in the end you did have the same radio before and after flashing ShinyRom?
You need to change your APN from IPv4/IPv6 to just IPv4.
Settings -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> Internet -> APN protocol: Switch from IPv4/IPv6 to just IPv4 option.

I didn't think it was a necessary step but the reason why i flashed a new baseband was because i thought my previous baseband was outdated(?) for some reason that i cannot explain.
and yes, in the end, i had the same radio before and after flashing ShinyRom (radio: UGLH1)
_____________________
i dont know much about radios due to the fact that i ran AOKP for numerous builds and never had a problem with my mobile data before, and so going into ShinyRom and having problems with my data, i was not exactly sure what i was doing "trying" to fix the problem.

Yo! by the way, I don't know if it's my device or kit kat, but I've tried liquid smooth and this rom, and for some reason everything displays kinda blurry, or like low res on the screen. Is it because my dpi is too high or low? or is it a setting I gotta switch. Hopefully someone can help me out here, thanks!

Yeah, this is a problem with CyanogenMod 11. It was not a problem with VILLUMINATI. Maybe Dastin can help fix the issue in the main CyanogenMod build?
Here essentially is the problem and what I've found to be the solution - the LCD density settings are incorrect. It is set by default to 220, but that density doesn't seem to match the screen's native resolution. I read online somewhere that for the S2 the setting should be 240. It's not intuitive, but lower numbers actually result in higher resolutions. Because this phone's screen isn't as sharp/has a lower Pixel Per Inch (ppi) count than some of the later model phones, it needs the high 240 number to get the lower resolution to match what the screen natively displays (hopefully I just said that correctly). Anyway, when you get the correct resolution settings, even if they aren't as "high" things become less blurry and look sharper, since the native resolution is correct.
So, how to change this? Here goes:
Download the "File Explorerer ES" app (it's free) from the app store.
Open the app
Click the menu icon in the top left.
Expand "Tools"
Turn on "Root Explorer" (and give the app root access whenever you get prompted... you'll need root to edit the system file).
At the top of the screen, click on "Storage".
At the top of the screen, click on "/". The goal here is to get to the root (aka /) of your filesystem, where the file we want is.
The top of the screen should now say "Device". If so, scroll down the list until you find the file called "system", and then open it.
Scroll down again and select the "build.prop" file.
It will probably ask what program you want to use to open it with. Pick "ES Note Editor".
In the top right of the editor, click the settings icon, then pick the "edit" option.
Scroll down the file until you find the line that says "ro.sf.lcd_density=220". Change that so that the number is 240.
Click the back arrow at the top left of the editor. You should be prompted on whether you want to save. Click yes.
Reboot your phone. When you log back into it again, you should see clearer icons.

Blank APN list
My SPH-D710 on Ting isn't getting 3g or LTE since flashing to CM 11. I've tried a number of different radios including ICS, GB, and JB with no luck. If I look in the APN list under Mobile Networks the list is completely blank and if I try resetting the list to defaults nothing is restored. I've tried factory resetting the phone several times and each time I clear all the caches, etc. Does anyone have a trick I can try?
Yes. First flash a stock ROM. Update prl profiles and whatever until ting works. You'll hopefully have 3g and lte doesn't matter because it won't work on this phone after jelly bean. Then flash whatever you like.

SMS Issues
Hi:
FWIW, I have been suffering these same text-messaging issues since going to CyanogenMod 11 on my SPH-D710 a few months back. I also recall seeing at least 1 or 2 other users on the older 'Villumiati' thread with similar issues, never resolved to my knowledge. I'm also on the FL24 modem, and re-flashed that as well a month or so ago to no avail. I have found that I can 'refresh' my text messages by going into "airplane mode" and then turning the radio back on, but this is not a very practical solution. Also, in case it might be a factor, I should include that my Sprint account is configured to use Google voice so that I can see/reply to SMS messages online. I'd appreciate any/all ideas as to how to 'fix' this issue, as it has caused all sort of social 'problems' related to not getting messages. (Also, I cannot send messages when this problem occurs, resulting in more time going in-and-out of airplane mode just to send a simple message).
(edit: this posted to a different forum - the above was in reference to posts #205-207 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/epi...anogenmod-11-official-nightly-t2852074/page21)

I also checked one of the free root checkers from the play store and it also said that my phone wasn't rooted.
I came from Touched by S4 ROM, made sure to default and wipe everything before moving to CM11. While on touched by S4, I had root.
TIA for any assistance.

Try to flash super Su again. Or just reflash cm.

Yes. First flash a stock ROM. Update prl profiles and whatever until ting works. You'll hopefully have 3g and lte doesn't matter because it won't work on this phone after jelly bean. Then flash whatever you like.

Hi linux guy,
Thanks for your note up, but unfortunately I followed your steps reverted back to stock GB28 where everything including 3g was working perfectly and then flashed CM11 with ICS modem but all I get is a 3g icon on the signal bar but there is no actual internet?!!, is shows connected but no net!
My camera will not take video! Anyone have the solution to this problem?
Did you try using a different resolution? I know mine would only take 480, until i flashed this new kernel...

APNs in Dec. nightlies
Latest nightlies (12/20, 12/23, 12/24) lost ability to send text completely. Send button is grayed out and does nothing. Thought it might be due to the change in APN settings. Going to settings - mobile networks - apns does nothing. Read back through the thread several times and resetting apns back to default does nothing, the choices to choose sprint, boost, VM, or ting never appears. Tried wiping /system, /data, and /cache and installing fresh. Still same results. Restoring back to my last known working nightly (11/23) texting works fine again without ever going to APN settings.
Am I missing something?
4G WiMax?
Please tell! Do you mean you actually have 4G WiMax working on CM 11 with this kernel???
 @dirtyhewr
I sent some screens of the difference between before and after on the kernel's thread...

... This phone now runs better than it ever has... No lags at all anymore! I am running cm nightly with the trim+FPbug kernel... AND 4g still works... Anytime i have flashed another kernel on this ROM, 4g stops working...
... Also, and i don't know if it has anything to do with kernel, it must, but i can now record 1080hd with the camcorder... I have never been able to do that before!
Make sure you thank @Lanchon for his work here... This is huge for this device!

Does 4G work on the 11-12-14 SNAPSHOT build? Which nightly do I need to use to get 4G WiMax up and running again? When I first updated to 4.4.4 a long time ago, WiMax was killed by upgrading beyond 4.2.2 forever.
