Bootloader & SIM Unlocking:
PLEASE NOTE: The ONLY WAY to Sim Unlock your Phone is to PAY for it, so do some Googling and read which services have been recommended in the past.
- Know Your Android Bootloader - What it is and Why it Matters
There are three ways to Unlock yours, the Standard/Official method (For SimFree/Un-Branded Phones) which is explained HERE, (PLEASE NOTE! - You loose DRM when using the official method but not with the TestPoint) but if your Phone came from a Carrier then chances are (99%) you won't be able to use that method. There is a simple method of checking if you can or not which you'll find HERE.
Standard Unlocking:
Then there is the TestPoint method...
TestPoint Unlocking:
Two members - Alejandrissimo or Jinx13 offer a Remote Service which isn't free, but cheaper than anywhere else on the net, and when you take in to account you will also SIM Unlock and retain DRM using the Remote method it's worth it.

AW: Unlock bootloader not allowed, what to do.
Try flashing a global / european generic firmware with flashtool. My phone had a branded t-mobile firmware with the same problem. Flashing a global genereic solved the problem for me... No problems so far..

Hi, in January you suggested using Alejandrissimo to unlock my xperia.
Do you know if his service is reliable and do you know anyone who has used his service?
Cheers.

[LT18i] unlock bootloader without losing DRM ?

I did search the forum, and found methods for Arc, but none for the Arc S.
Is there any way ?
Also what are the disadvantages of losing DRM? Read somewhere TrackID and Timescape won't work. I can live with that. Anything more ?
timescape work fine in my lt18i with an unlocked bootloader
They use the same methods.

Really good guide,I've learnt alot of good new things, appreciate the time and effort you've put into it.

You lose the ability to use things like Trackid
Read from somewhere, that test point method is not supported on Arc S, but is supported on Arc. Someone tell me more.

Official method only works for generic, unbranded phones. If your phone was purchased through a carrier, its bootloader cannot be unlocked.

SETool1 doesn't support the arc s (LT18i), only SETool2 which requires hardware and paid credits.

[Q] How I can unlock my bootloader ? HELP

Hi everyone ! I have a Xperia Arc LT15i and I found out using *#*#7378423#*#* that I cannot unlock bootloader (Bootloader unlock allowed: No). How I can unlock my bootloader because I want a ROM like CM9 or JJ's Hybrid and it`s must to have bootloader unlock. Please help me with unlocking the bootloader, or please help to find a ROM like CM9 without unlock my bootloader. I want to say that I am not very skilled Waiting for more tips.
download flashtool then Plug in > unlock bootloader
it will guide you to sony's web page, copy paste the code and let flashtool unlock it
Actually JJ's ROM doesn't require an unlocked boot loader.

If you have bootloader unlock allowed:no standing, then you can't unlock it with Sony service, because your IMEI number is then 15 symbols long, so no way for unlocking bl without paying for services like setool

Hi,
If you have bootloader unlock allowed:no , you can unlock it with Omnius , but is not free, 15€/unlock .
I unlocked my LT15i with Omnius, I had "unlock allowed:no" before.
So .. I can't unlock my bootloader, only if I paid :crying:
Setool & Omnius links?
you guys got any links related to this Omnius and Setool things? or other alternatives for Xperias stating that unlocking bootloader is not allowed?.. I had thought that if they say so, it was just impossible to unlock...

I'm starting to get angry I said and ludz179 in answer above you I can not unlock the bootloader so because the Service Info says Bootloader unlock allowed: No
was only giving info you say your phone says cannot unlock boot loader then from wat iv seen there is no way to unlock it.
but there is lots of roms out there that run well on none unlocked bootloaders and using new flashtool seems easy plus using DooMLoRD to root the phone .. I think the only way to do it would be to send it to sony service to unlock but knowing them you go no chance
just trying to help thats all
Can't help enquiring. You mention that there are several roms that are available which does not need to have the bootloader unlock.Could you give me the links please.

I think the date 12w28 is currently an issue to unlock with the TestPoint method from what I've read.

Is there a dev team anyone knows of who work especially on hacking sonyericsson(now sony) handsets just like the ios dev team for the iphone-ipad family?
it would be refreshing to know if there is effort being put into that or to get tweets indicating process, i don't mean to be rude here just asking out of curiosity. Got my arc s for 3 months now and still can't use it with a sim card. And returning the phone is no option for me cause i bought it abroad thinking a new unlock is due date.

[Q] Does this method unlocks bootloader on "unlook bootloader: NO"?

I apologize if i repeat the question, but recently discovered this site:
http://w**w.unlockroot.com/
Does this way it is possible to unlock the bootloader on xperia s blocked?
And then do consseguir root?
Attention: my xperia s is referring to the "no" in unlok bootloader!
If your boot loader says no, then it can not be unlocked anyway possible. If it can root maybe it will.
Edit: it also conforms on the website that if your device say bootloader: no, then you can't unlock it.

you must go to Sony's Offical page to unlock the bootloader
all third root tools cannot unlock Sony's bootloader in the root progress
(except the root tool suggest you to enter the bootloader-unlock key
(sorry for my poor english

Not entirely true... When it was launched some dealers had access to Sony certified Servers and they could unlock the bootloader status.
The problem is that Sony closed the servers and since then, only Sony can do the change.
So, to get clear: at this time, only Sony can change the lock of the boatloader authorization to Yes.
To do so you have to contact your carrier or Sony in your country.
It is not impossible, but it's only available trough the official channels.

Questions about bootloader

Could not find any info using search.
1. Is BL locked in pre-ordered device ?
If answer is YES:
2. Is it unlockable ?
3. Does Sony provide on demand unlocking codes in a way they did for other models ?
All phones came with their bootloader locked, some phones from network carriers will not allow the bootloader to be unlocked. However, if you have a sim free phone then you can unlock the bootloader via Sony site. There is a guide on the forum, it's basically same as Z1.
