I've done this on the Atrix before using ROM Toolbox. One word of warning, I soft bricked my 1st Kindle with it by tinkering on the default ROM, so make sure you have backups.

Bottom of first post. I copied exactly the same lines from my galaxy s3 and it worked perfectly spoofing my device as a gs3

[Q] What is the stock Kindle Fire build.prop manufacturer settings?

I, along with others, have ran into issues on CM7 downloading apps from the Market intended for the Kindle Fire, as it claims that our device is not supported. Editing the build.prop could fix this, and I'd like to include it as an FAQ on using DizzyDen's IMEI Generator.
I just need the settings for "Device_Manufacturer," "Manufacturer_Device," and "Device_Model" for a stock Kindle Fire, if someone could please share.

I don't see "Device_Manufacturer" or "Manufacturer_Device" or "Device Model".
I can give you some close settings....
ro.product.model=Full Android on Blaze or SDP
ro.product.brand=generic
ro.product.name=blaze
ro.product.device=blaze
ro.product.manufacturer=TI

Thanks a lot. I'll run the program a few times and see what setting configures what build.prop information
Thanks again! I've updated my tutorial to include those edits.

Did y'all get the build.prop from stock yet? If not, my wife just opened her fire last night and it's still completely stock, I can pull it from there if needed.

In /system directory... use an app like root explorer...
I have edited the build.prop by using copying it and editing it on my PC. Then I tried to paste the edited one back into the System folder. But I cannot because its a read-only system file. How can I edit this file and save successfully or paste this file sucessfully.
Or how did you do it?
Thanks.
P.S. Is there anything in there that we can edit to make the app ignore the network? Being that it only allows you to use your "Home Network".

When I try this on my Kindle Fire I get a message "Parse error. there is a problem parsing the package". What steps did you do to install on your Kindle Fire? Thanks in adavance.
I can confirm this is working on my AT&T Galaxy Note 2.
Didn't have to do anything but install it.

Could anyone run it on Jelly Bean? Mine just crashes and I couldn't even add the Amazon account under settings
No one uses Amazon Video On Demand App?

I use it on the iPad. There's no android version that I can find...
I had it running on my touch pad and nook tablet. There is an apk for it. Pm me if you want it. There are other things that need to be installed with it as well but can't remember off the top of my head.

You need to side load the apk. I don't want to be distributing apks in an open forum for obvious reasons.

+1 - I restored a backup (from my S3) of BBC Iplayer and BBC Media Player and they work fine on my Nexus 4. Only issue is video is not 100% full screen as the soft keys do not go away when playing video. I expect this will be fixed when the app actually supports the Nexus 4. It also seemed to have issues resizing properly when I turned phone from portrait to landscape, so I had to go back to iplayer start, put phone in landscape and then start video.

Text app?

I have the 4G LTE version of the kindle and I was wondering if its possible yo text from it? It has a sim card in there and correct APN information. I tried https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.mms.com.android.mms but it keeps saying please wait for service to be available when I have 4 bars.

Anyone? Since I can use data from my sim then should I be able to make calls + text?
I don't think the part that is used for data/3g is the same as what's used for texting and calls, but I am no expert, if u wanna make free calls get magic jack from the play store, as for texting I know multiple methods, but they aren't exactly native they are just apps, and sometimes you have to pay.

I have not got texting to work either. I thought it would be a good backup if in our of coverage on my phone. I plan on continuing to try.

That linked you provided in the op, I checked it and noticed they said the app doesn't currently work and to use an old version they have a download link to in the description, did you try using that? Also are you on stock amazon or another ROM?

Ya I tried the link in the the apps description. I have also extracted my Galaxy Note's texting app. No luck =/
I am on stock Amazon.
I think it would be amazing to get calling and texting to work on it. Its like I am already paying for data which comes with minutes and txts.
Yea I wonder if it would work on cm, I thought I heard that hashcode had it working, but then I read another thread I saw people asking for him to get it to work, so idk.

Yup tried every app possible that installs on the Kindle OS. Nothing. =[
I was perusing the forums and found a ROM for lte versions that's kinda in testing, maybe u can try it out and see if it works with one of the apps or a native one or something. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391776
