Would Best Buy price match for a Sprint or Verizon Note 2? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

It's on Amazon Wireless for $99 on Sprint and Verizon. Would Best Buy price match that for an AT&T Note 2? Anyone have any experience? Thanks.

Probably not, usually they only match stores that have a physical location in the area. So no online retailers.

it never hurts to try... iI would suggest you go there, ask politely, then if denied, argue politely. All in all, the money isn't made by the phone but on the contract, the service plan, and the accessories they attach at the point of sale.

Yes they price match amazon. I bought my note 2 at bestbuy when amazon had it for $174

Yep, they sure do! Just got my note 2 Friday from a price match online. They'll do both, I specifically asked in store when I was there (in store or online)

For the "yes they will", are you people confirming that best buy will price match Sprint and Verizon prices for Att's note 2?

Yes.
I got mine for $99 on Saturday from Best Buy as an upgrade on my AT&T account.
I had to show proof that AT&T would price match Amazon's Verizon price before they would do it.
I used someone else's receipt posted on another site.
If they give you trouble, let me know and I will post a copy of my receipt where my local Best Buy price matched.

Would you mind posting the receipt? Thanks

Yes they will. Done it for a bunch of items off amazon

All you have to do is go to Best Buy's price matching terms & conditions. Read it. They routinely change it & have for sometime been testing different on-line retailers in different regions for price match as well. Tiger Direct, Newegg & several others are listed. I am not sure about Amazon Wireless, but Amazon very well could be one of the online retailers they do officially price match.
I showed them an add on my device, they looked it up themselves to confirm & bam...Proce match - my rewards cert.

Thanks guys.

yeah, no problem!
I will tonight when I get off work. The receipt is at home.

I work for Best Buy Mobile and we pricematch Amazon Wireless all the time. Thing is the $99 is for a Sprint NEW customer not a Upgrade the Upgrade price is $199.99. If they pricematch $99.99 for an upgrade they aren't doing their job lol.

They are doing it right...the price match is against AT&T, not Sprint.
AT&T's online store is price matching Amazon, and in turn we are getting Best Buy to price match AT&T.
There is an article discussing this on slickdeals but I can not post the link due to my low post count.

This means zero. Trust me they're doing it wrong, am I doubting some random store did it for you? No, but I'm telling you they price matched the New 2 Year agreement price and will get hit for it in some way or another. Not to mention it was a different carrier. Pricing and agreements are different with all carriers especially Verizon, we have to get special permission to even put things on sale with certain carriers because like 100% of the time were cheaper than the carrier stores. AT&T can price match whatever they want they're AT&T they can do whatever they want because they're the ones that make the rules lol.
Anyways grats on your pricematch it's a sickphone

i live in toronto, negri is cheaper, but i wanted to buy it from bell / virgin because of warranty reasons, but i will have to pay more
649.99 plus tax would come up to $734.48 and negri has it for like 680 i think?

It looks like Negri's price is $730.50.
And even if it was $680:
$680 USD = $692.68 CAD. Add 5% GST and you get $727.31. I'm not sure if there would also be duty on top of that. There might also be brokerage fees, depending on the shipping method used. So at best you save about $7 and then have to deal with shipping it back to Negri if you have a warranty issue, instead of just taking it down to you local Bell/Virgin store.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the choice seems obvious to me.
Bell wouldn't sell me the Nexus with activating a line for at least a month.
So 35$ for activation fee and 30$ for the cheapest "plan".
Same for Virgin but no activation fee.
I had to buy it from a random dude on Kijiji who had some BNIB Nexus for 730$ locally in Montreal.
The name Negri kind of sounds racist so i wouldn't buy from them...

True enough. I guess I was assuming he'd stick with Bell. Someone did say they got a Best Buy store to sell one without any activation though... probably a mistake on Best Buy's part, but lucky for him

You'll have to pay HST + duty to bring it into Canada, and I'd be surprised if they'll ship for free to Canada.
When I bought my N1 from Google, the courier showed up with a bill for $89 to cover fees, on top of the price I had already paid. I had to give him my credit card # before he'd release the package to me.
You can buy the GN at full retail without a contract, just depends on the store. I bought mine at a future shop with no problems (oddly, Best Buy won't sell without a contract). I think you'll find warranty issues less painful if you buy locally, and if it's that much of a concern for you, then you can buy the extended service from FS and they'll basically swap your phone for a new one if anything goes wrong.

Honestly, I think it is hit and miss. I bought mine on launch day, the rep told me that a few people had already been in to buy it outright, and asked me which network I'd be activating it on. Told her Rogers, and she said that's what everyone else had said.
But I've also heard that some people have been told at Future Shop that they can't buy without a contract, so it's not consistent. I was turned down at Best Buy, but I've seen others post on the interweb that they bought from Best Buy. There was also another post here saying that the Source was selling outright, which is surprising since they're owned by Bell, but at the same time, as someone who has dealt with Bell corporate in the past, it wouldn't be surprising that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
You may have to store shop a bit, but I'm sure you'll find one that will sell it outright if you stick to the major retail outlets. I'd suggest staying away from the dealers though, they have more of a vested interest in signing contracts and receive fewer units for inventory so will be loathe to sell them outright this soon after launch.
Hope this helps...

Doubt it. When they say advertised price, they expect you to bring in an ad (such as a newspaper). Good luck if you try anyway.

I do know they price match amazon just not sure if its the device itself or if it is specified by carrier. My friend just went into Best Buy and got the LG Optimus G for $99.99 because of the amazon price match.
I got my Note II for $199 @ Best Buy by brice matching Amazon Wireless AT&T version. Even though it was out of stock!
Depends on the rep, some will do, some will BS "We Don't price match online stores, blah blah blah"
Try different locations, that's what I did to get mine, didn't even bring a print out, they actually checked it for me!
Good luck

Bought my Note II at Best Buy for $240 when they were running the sale. Went back about 15 or 16 days later and they price-matched the Amazon price for AT&T at $199, refunding the difference.
I've always been wary of purchasing phones from non-carrier stores, but I've had an excellent experience with Best Buy so far; much better than I've had dealing directly with various carriers over the years.
Best Buy price matched the Amazon Wireless amount of 174. 99 for me without even looking at what carrier the phone was specified as using or if it was in stock. It is definitely worth a shot.
Does anybody have the link for the Note 2 for under $200.00? I did look but the lowest was for $249.99.
I got mine at bby with a price match to amazon at $225. The online price match policy says that it must be readily available. Does not specify "in stock". Amazon ship time was 1 week. Just be firm and calm. Fighting and yelling won't get you anywhere.

Did you buy your T-Mobile Note II Online or T-Mobile Retail Store?

My online order was recently cancelled by T-Mobile for unknown reasons, possibly due to no stock. It is really frustrating especially after you wait for a week to find out the phone you ordered was on backorder and eventually cancelled. Is it better to wait and purchase online at T-Mobile's website once stocks are available again or should I purchase at the T-Mobile store? Are there any differences I should be looking out for?
Retail Store
I bought my Note 2 at the retail store. I had a similar experience with the first Note, ordered it and found out 3 days later the order was canceled because they were out of stock. In hind sight sort glad it turned out that way, loving my Note 2.

Do you remember the $0 promotion from 21-31 last month? This applied to Value Plan only and your contact will be reset.
I remember a promotion like that going on. However, I was inclined into a different plan. Guess, that was the reason why I waited and finally came to know T-Mobile's Online store was out-of-stock. I wouldn't mind paying the full price for the Note II. Would stores be having it ready in stock?

[Q] What is the best deal for Note 2

So I am up for a upgrade next week on the 18th and I really wanted to upgrade from the Skyrocket to the Note II. I want to try to find the best deal, because at the current $300 I don't think I would be able to get it. A month or so ago a couple people had luck getting Best Buy to price match the $99 Amazon Wireless price for the Note II on Sprint.. for a upgrade on AT&T. I have no idea how they got it to go through but someone even posted a copy of his receipt from Best Buy. Last week I called about 20 times trying to get a discount from AT&T customer service, since people had luck with them as well, but that failed. So I went down to Best Buy and they wouldn't do it either, even with the copy of the receipt. I just read about the $200 deal from Best Buy for the previous weekend and it sucks because people were able to get these great deals, and now that my upgrade is actually here I am going to miss out. Anyway, now that my rant is over, I was wondering if there are certain things people say or tricks that allow them to get places like Best Buy to lower prices that much and if I would be able to get a great deal next week.
Thanks.

Really.... I saw that a couple people posted about success at BB with price matching sprint but when I went in they said its for sprint and they won't price match for att. Currently there is a deal going on at BB that they give you $50 rewards points. Also RadioShack has note 2 upgrade for $200 so hopefully I can get BB to price match and then get the $50 off and get the note for $150.
But I would still like to get the $99 price match.. do you still have your receipt from when you got yours?

That is actually incorrect. The fee is based on many different variables, all of which are covered in the store policies.
You may be referencing a return of a new release. In that case if you order a product at $800, and return it unused after 7 days, your restock fee is based on the current site price, time out of our possession and condition of exterior packaging and accessories within the box. If the price of the device happens to be $600, your restock fee would be close to 25%.
Restocking Fees are not used to generate profit for our business. We use restocking fees to recover costs incurred during shipping and receiving of returned items, as well as price changes that may have occured while the device was out of our possession and unable to be sold.
We are very transparent in everything we do. If there is an issue please contact us so that we can explain in greater detail. Please do not mislead XDA readers. When posting your issue, please provide further detail so that others may make a educated decision as to where to purchase their next device.
We apologize that you are upset, but we do have the store policies posted and do not assess fees as a form of punishment, or to generate profit. We can only hope that you read the policies and ask questions if you have them.
Fair and Balanced - Always.
