[Q] Dead phone? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i had ex kernel 1.2 installed on my phone then i wanted cwm cause twrp keep showing flashing erors so i installed stock kernel with cwm and rebooted my phone. now i doesnt boot it just shows samsung galaxy gt-i8160 logo and doesnt go forward. how can i resolve this? my phone doesnt enter recovery mode but it enters download mode.

If you can access Download mode, there isn't any problem Just flash a stock rom ( lastest one is I8160XXLL2 ) with this guide :

i dont see XXLL2 can you post me a direct link? thanks for the answer i was like "scared" having a dead phone. my flash counter is 2 so i will be 3 and if i get it to gsmarena warranty - no free repair.

and what if i flash stock kernel with cwm recovery?

sorry for triple post. will i loose my root after flashing stock rom?

Sorry I can't post a link here ( xda forum's restriction) but you can find this stock rom on sammobile. Com. You will have to make a search with "i8160" and then a list of firmwares available for this phone will be displayed. Just download the one you need

If you flash stock rom with out any modification you will lose root.
You can use stock rooted.
Search forum for that.

with cwm kernel.

so i flashed xxll2 rom it came as md5 file and SS_DL.dll so i put phone to download everything ok pda file ok clicked start it started and show success (0) failed (0). so it didint flash or what??

And what is in the box where there should be "pass" or "fail". And maybe you should try a different firmware? ( xxlk6 for exemple).

[Q] Having trouble flashing Chinese GT-N7100 Note 2

The Chinese bootloader won't let me flash a french or indian firmware through Odin PC, and the current solution seems to be using Mobile Odin.
I was able to get Mobile Odin installed, but when I try and flash the firmware, on reboot it just hangs at the blue mobileOdin logo.
At this point, I have to restart the device into download mode, and flash back over the stock CHN firmware.
I tried using mobile Odin again with the CHN firmware I'm able to flash over through Odin PC, and I run into the same problem as before; the device hangs at the blue mobileOdin logo.
There seem to be others out there having this freezing issue with mobileOdin, but I cannot find a solution.
Is there anything else I can try other than mobileOdin to flash my Chinese Note 2?
Thanks
Try flash by stock recovery?
But is that even possible? Lol

Hi. I have posted a complete step by step instructions as how to flash India Android 4.3 firmware on Chinese N7100. Just search for it and follow the steps. You will be successful.

Well lets say like this, I REALLY hope you made a backup of your EFS image before you flash with Odin like they recommend everywhere (damn I feel stupid right now, since I have been flashing for years). I just bricked my N7100 Chinese version (no EFS = no phone functionality), because I tried to update the phone with Odin. I didn't know that the phone was hacked (almost all Chinese N7100 are if they are bought second hand), and trying to upgrade it to Official 4.3 was probably the most stupid thing I have ever done. Trying to put a indian official rom on a Chinese phone will definitely NOT work, you should put one with CHN in the file name.
What I should have done, was to just change the hacked ROM to any other un-official ROM out there. Instead using Odin, I just bricked it forever. Feels crazy, but using cwmrecovery to flash any other popular ROM would have kept my phone working. It is now offically a Phablet with Wifi only since my EFS image is broken.
Maybe you can see if you EFS image is still OK with ADB:
Code:
adb shell
cd /efs
ls
to see if it is still intact and that there are file sin that folder. Mine is just empty.

[Q] Best method for root

There are some old threads on rooting and new ones that are completely different.
What is the best method to r00t and what mod should i flash on it after i've rooted?
GT-I8160 v2.3.6 Gingerbread. BB: I8160XXLK6. Kernel: 2.6.35.7

the simple/best rooting methode
hy,
... first extract file "I8160XXLI2_CWM_5.0.2.6_ANT.tar" from rar archive
Methode for any GB firmware:
1. instal with odin the file "I8160XXLI2_CWM_5.0.2.6_ANT.tar", in the field "PDA"
2. boot in CWM mode and update with zip file "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip"
3. reboot ... and your mobile is rooted

It says "Ensure that you have I8160XXLL2 installed + custom kernel (requirements). If you don't have them already installed:

Do i not have to install the custom kernel?

Ok i'm going to try and flash kyrillos now, thanks.
I've used the already rooted rom's in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881964
I put EX Kernel on and flashed it with Kyrillos. The phone worked up until my phone crashed, as i had a lot of apps running. When i removed the battery/restarted it just got stuck in a boot loop I've accepted it and i'm going to just flash everything again. Whats the best solution around this or prevention in case it happens again?
All my apps are crashing upon startup again and i cant do anything expect click through force close over and over
I've cleared cache files, removed sd, battery etc. Nothing. I can mount the phone to my computer though.

[Q] Galaxy Grand 4.2.2 Stock Rom Rooting issue

Hello everyone,
Recently I updated my Samsung Galaxy Grand to the official 4.2.2 rom, and since then I'm unable to root my phone.
I flashed CWM Touch Recovery using Odin 3.07, but whenever I boot my phone into recovery mode, the logo shows up then a blank screen for 2 seconds and it restarts to boot normally.
any idea why this is happening?
Try flashing another CWM trough CWM official app in the play store ,

it might be cuz u r using the leaked firmware or whatever it called ( u flashed the 4.2.2 firmware from odin )
here is my suggestion ... i had the same prob as u...
flash 4.1.2 and then let it update normally from mobile to 4.2.2
and after this ... take this special edition of cwm ... ( 100% work ) link : ( https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_SFFvHY6sAFRllBQTQ1RzY2am8/edit ) and flash it.
( cwm will run only for 1 time ... so u have to flash fix recovery to let it run anytime )
after that ... flash fix-recovery.zip using cwm link : ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/49z2ywg226pqp5x/Fix-Recovery.zip )
*note* you should transfer the fix-recovery file to your mobile just after you update to 4.2.2 and before u start all of this installation guide *note*
hope it works for u...
atleast it did work for me

AT&T Galaxy SIII Downgrade from CM11?

I'm trying to downgrade my i747 from CM11 back to stock AT&T firmware but I'm unable to. I've done hours of searching and reading posts, coming up with dead ends.. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I can't seem to find an official original AT&T image, I did find a "rooted leaked" image.. but when I try to flash it with Oden it fails and the phone says "SW New Check Fail: Fused 2 > binary 0"
I ran the triangle away, tried a few different roms... I can re-image CM but not anything older. Is there a thread that explains where I can find the proper AT&T stock rom and roll back from CM11?
If you have the stock 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use Odin to flash a stock AT&T 4.3 ROM because AT&T never made a flashable 4.3 ROM available. AT&T only made 4.3 available as an OTA update to an existing ROM.
Thanks, so what are my options if any? I installed the CM11 through their http://get.cm site so I'm not sure what exactly they're doing but the end result is I have CM11, ODIN for the updater, and CWM. Can I downgrade to an older version then and just perform carrier updates to 4.3? If not is it safe to flash some other third party ROM? Or am I stuck on CM11?
-Keith
Boot into download mode and let us know what it says on the screen. This will help us determine if you have the 4.3 bootloader on your phone.
Download mode says:
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SGH-I747
Custom Binary Download: Yes (1 Counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
Qualcom Secureboot: Enable
Warranty Bit: 1
Bootloader AP SWREV: 2

I'm thinking of trying the approach that I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
Unless any reason's why I shouldn't, it seems people have been successful with that pseudo 'stock' build.
Based on your download info screen, you have the 4.3 bootloader and the link you provided would be a good choice.
If you didn't have the 4.3 bootloader, you could have flashed a stock 4.1.1 ROM via Odin. With a 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use Odin.
I tried that link but the flash failed..
format() expects 3 args, got 5
E:Error in /external_sd/ATT_i747_UCUEMJB_StockRestore_CWM_2282014.zip

Ugh..
Status 7 errors can be caused by using an outdated recovery.
I have 6.0.4.7 installed and downloaded the ZIP that says it's for that version but I keep getting the same error.
Maybe the ROM download is corrupt?

Did you verify the MD5 of the zip you downloaded? I haven't seen any other report of this not working as it is the definitive solution for returning to stock 4.3.It's possible your download wasn't complete or, as Audit suggested, the zip was corrupted in some way.
I downloaded a different recovery as suggested and was able to flash that way. I'm finally back on the pseudo-stock AT&T firmware and aside from one strange popup everything seems to be working great. Thanks for the help everyone,

I assume you can boot into download mode so use the latest tar version of Philz to flash recovery. Philz is based off the latest CWM.
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/
Place the file in the PDA box, don't check anything except F.reset. Flash the file, once you see reset in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery.

I did but the thing is i installed Philz, then flashed Phoenix ROM,stuck bootloop`ing, then flashed Zoot's-Wipe-Scripts_SGS_N-II and did a HARD WIPE (full one) and then installed again via philz_touch_6.46.3-n7100 the ROM and still got stuck right after Samsung (As soon as it does the blue circle, mine only makes half and then reboots, then half a circle again then reboots).
By the way,do you know how to check my IMEI ? Maybe is something wrong with my IMEI beacouse before , i had TWRP with Android Revolution HD and i got Emergency Calls Only but i coudnt fix it,no matter what. My IMEI seems good,i mean i have normal numbers but since i remember it is ending in four zeros.

Ok so the only option to get it back working was to install TWRP back and flash Android Revolution HD so i can check the imei in the system, and it shows like this:
004999010640000/01
On the back of the phone and on the original box is another IMEI as follows:
355xxxxxxx4671/1
So clearly my IMEI has been changed/damaged somewhere on the way. Don`t know when, and i don`t have an EFS Backup.
Thing is like follows: If i install TWRP (twrp-2.5.0.1-n7100) and then flash Android Revolution HD the phone works fine, the only problem that i have is the stupid Emergency Calls Only that i can`t fix beacouse everything that i patch or every fix that i try doing it,the phone restarts itself and goes into Samsung Bootloop.
If i flash CWM Philz (philz_touch_6.46.3-n7100) and try to flash Phoenix Rom it doesnt even get pass the blue Samsung Circle, same stupid bootloop.
So my problem is in fact the IMEI ? What do you think ? This is why all of my ROMS bootloops ? And this is why i always get Emergency Calls Only ?
Please help me out Vagsvag beacouse i am loosing my hope here.... This is my only phone and i`ve been trying to fix it since 2 weeks now...

I don't know if you try to flash the modem only over revolution HD via chainfire's mobile odin what will be happened.
For doing this install mobile odin lite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899 download from end of the page the add-on for n7100 (it's kernel for n7100) also download latest firmware from Sammy or better fne1 (the same version with revolution HD rom), unzip it, copy to your phone and mount the firmware at mobile odin at the place which is saying modem and flash it. Other way to do this is to extract with 7zip the Samsung fw (unzip first and after extract the unzipped .tar.md5 file with 7zip) and take the modem.bin file, copy to phone mount it at mobile odin and flash it. If is difficult to do this post to search at my pc and upload the modem. I have it somewhere.

Thanks very much for your help Vagsvag,i will try and do exactly what you told me to,step by step right now,and if it works out man.... you are going to have a big donation from me. Hopefully i am going to bring my phone back to life.
Forgot to mention, here is a list of ROMs i flashed with ODIN but with no succes.
Odin ver.3.09 (Run in administrator mode)
Stock ROMs as follows:
- GT-N7100_BTU_1_20121003084149_ (This is a 4.1.1 but still bad imei) after i flashed it with ODIN
- ROM-N7100XXUFNL1-20150116192411 (This one was 4.2 i guess) Still bad imei
- XEF-N7100XXUFND3-20140425111035 (This one`s the latest 4.2.2) And still bad IMEI
And all of them (i think) are stock ROM`s (Or at least that i what i tried downloading) From different locations. NONE of them worked thow...
Then i tried Phoenix ROM,no luck there, then i tried Android Revolution HD and still no luck. BUT it seems that everytime i install Android Rev.HD and i press reboot system , TWRP keeps telling me `FIX ROOT etc....` Everytime i install the ROM...hm.... Guess it`s just stupid permissions but it doesnt matter for me. As i had no problems, everytime i installed it,it had supersu in it,and busybox, and rootacces. So it`s ok.
Now i will try what you told me to do,and we will see how that goes. I will reply soon. Thanks again man,you have one beer from me. Your patience is gold for me.

This is the modem of fne1. I don't remember if revolution HD working correct with mobile odin. Some roms don't restart to make the flash. When you mount the modem and you click flash now mobile odin will do restart to flash it, if you see to don't restart is necessary to manual restart to recovery push the power button and select reboot to recovery, this is important, don't do normal restart if it fails to restart do only to recovery to avoid corruption of your installed recovery, after this your phone will restart at mobile odin recovery and will flash the modem. Also check wipe dalvik cache at mobile odin, not really necessary but check it.
