[Q] Cannot install apk's. - HTC One X

Hi guys.
I have a little problem with my hox for about two days. I cannot install this application: usb bt joystick center. I downloaded it from Google Play and it says i have not enough free space but I have more than 1 gb free internal memory. I found apk file on the Internet but there is the same error. Other apps are installing themeselves correctly. Usb bt joystick center was working fine when i was using ICS. Yesterday i upgraded to jb, this app was crashing at start so i uninstalled it and wanted to try again but unfortunately now I can't. Help please

uninstall it, then unsign your google play account. go into the list of all installed apps and find google playstore and stop it, clear cache. then sign in again and try again !
hope it helps

I did it, but with no result. Also I tried to install via ADB but then it shows me this error:

You could try a factory reset..... Don't know what else

I would rather jump into a Custom ROM like ARHD instead of doing factory reset
I found an article with a solution for my problem http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...oid-install-failed-insufficient-storage-error but when I unrar my apk file and try to edit AndroidManifest.xml I have some chinese chars and squares which I don't understand What editor I should use for these xml files? I tried Notepad (;p) WordPad, Programmer's Notepad and everywhere was the same.

I always open them with notepad++ don't know if that's the one you already tried

Thanks for advice. Finally I found a solution, WORKING one
For others having same issue:
I just executed installation on external memory which "isn't full like internal" using
adb shell pm set-install-location 2

Maybe it's not the best idea, but USB BT Joystick Center is now installed

Nice !

I tried this but it didn't work.
By the way, how are you supposed to change install location to "external memory" if there is no external memory? HTC One X as well as One X+ has no external memory, only an internal memory of 32/64 GB ROMs respectively, and a 1 GB root/system RAM memory which contains system apps.

ERROR ROM ?

You can move installed apps to the sdcard but only if they are supported !
And it was a problem that encountered a year ago !
And if you can't install apk files i would suggest to do a full wipe and re install the rom. And don't restore any old stuff......

[Q] Internal memory full

Hello everyone.
I'm running Oxygen 2.0.1 with A2SD enabled.
My internal memeory seems to be almost completely full though i have nothing installed in it.
I cleared the cache a look through almost all my apps, but i really can't figure out why i have no space left.
Usually i have more than 100MB free space even with many more applications installed, so something must be using all my internal mem.
Do i have to clean my internal memory each time i flash a new ROM or something like that?
When you flash a new rom you do a factory reset and clear dalvik cache. As for your memory being almost full, depending on how the a2sd script works and what it puts onto the SD card, data can still install to internal memory. Like the dalvik cache. If you can, use a file manager to see what is using memory.
Sent from CM7
could you please tell me how i use a file manager to check what's using my memory?

Use root explorer. It will show the space available on each nand partition.

Okay thank you all guys.
I bought root explorer and look around a bit, and ofcause i came across the dalvik-cache.
The Dalvik-cache is nothing less than 85mb, which is pretty huge right?
is there any way i can shrink the case/is it possible that the cache contains information from my old rom, which does nothing else than using the space?
You could wipe it through recovery then reboot and see what it looks like then..

I have a problem similar to this, but I had installed Intercepter-NG, and forgot to tell the program to use my SD card, and it filled up the internal memory with logs.
Now I can't get to the logs, because I have lost my USB cable.
Is there a free program for the Galaxy Y S5360 that will let me look in Internal Memory and delete the logs??

You don't need your usb cable to browse your own phone
There are many free programs, search the play store for a file manager...
Uninstall some apps if you need to make space
Or...is there an option within this interceptor app to delete the logs directly?

USB mount your SD card, and run a chkdsk and make sure it is clean. I recently had this same looking issue and it was fixed by a chkdsk.

I had the same error recently when attempting to download applications on meXdroid ROM. It would only happen when I downloaded the ROM and gapps through ROM manager. Once I found and downloaded the direct zips from their website, I was able to have it running with no problem.

I'm assuming you did all this previously through ROM manager?
If so, make sure you check the MD5, full wipe, and flash through recovery with the zips from the above links. If not, I don't know if this will really help.

[q] hybrid rom help!!!!!

Hey there buddies, good day to all!
I'm having a problem with Hybrid ROM v2.1, although it is super fast & neat with enormous 80MB System ROM free storage ,
there are some sytem applications that has been removed like Simcard Tool Kit & Kies.apk, etc..
Now, i'm having trouble connecting to Samsung Kies in PC although it's not really important since i cannot update my custom ROM thru Kies, i just want to restore my contacts there.. lol
My other problem is the annoying pop up dialog box that says "Your balance is not enough to send a text. You only have 0 that will expire on etc.. etc.." that appears everytime i reboot my phone..
So i was thinking if the removed Simcard Tool kit.apk from Hybrid ROM causes the annoying dialog box..
So i tried to copy the stk.apk from my backup stock ROM & went to root explorer, mount as R/W, paste it to sytem/app & change the permission to rw--r--r-- and restarted it, but nothing happens. the annoying pop up is still there & simcard tool kit.apk stills seems not working & doesn't appear in apps drawer..
& Lastly, i'm using Creed's 14toggles bar & it's working fine in Hybrid ROM but i noticed that after i flashed it, everytime i connect to PC via USB, the icon in disconnect & connect USB was messed up..
Will be glad if somebody can help me.. thanks!!!!!
I am also using hybrid rom 2.1 but I am not having any problems and if you want to backup contact then there are a lot of applications in the market you can try them

Thanks bro. You mean edit it "by hand"? What if I put back the framework-res.apk that came with Hybrid? Will that work? Which specific file do I need to edit anyway?
At the moment I restored a backup I made before flashing Creed's status bar so I guess I'll be editing the framework-res.apk there, right?

Same problem?
For sim toolkit try this:

As for the contacts, I prefer exporting it to SD and then restoring after flashing a new rom. Faster than Kies.

Insufficient storage Link2SD error?

I'm not sure what the problem is here. I'm running CM9A6 via the RobotoMod 1.0.2 ROM, and I couldn't get the default S2E to work at all. I installed link2SD as a workaround, and while I know it has it's limitations, I can't determine why it won't link an app.
I downloaded Where's my Perry? for my kids, and due to it's size (50+ MB), I wanted to get it out of my internal storage. It isn't working, though - link2SD is throwing an error saying there's "insufficient storage". I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves:

Perry?free is already on the SDCard. You are trying to install it to internal memory and then getting Link2SD to link it back to the SDCard. As you only have 51.18MB free on your internal storage and Perry?free is 52.73MB it won't work. Leave it where it is.

Hi,
For CM9, use Ext4 on 2nd partition on SDcard. Do you have it?.
Link2sd was working fine with me when I had CM9Alpha7. Try only with Link2sd(don't have multiple SDcard apps).
Select 'Autolink' on Link2sd settings. If you do right, all apps will be installed on SD card.

2nd part is formatted Ext2. It works fine other than this one program, and I have it configured to install to SD.
I'll try linking just the dalvik-cache and library, and see if that works, leaving the app on the SD card.

If you bothered to look at the images provided by the OP, you will see that Link2SD is working fine. Changing the partition to Ext4 will not magically create more internal space.
See tats the problem wit link2sd. I used it for a long time after using data2sd. Now I'm back to daya2sd. It may boot slower but it gives u happiness.

For me, I was able to move the whole 2.3 gb map file to ext sd card by just deleting the TomTom map files located in my internal sd and let TomTom re-download the map to my external SD. As for the TomTom application itself, I went to App manager of HTC and tap on TomTom, it has an option to move to SD. So around 70 mb of the app data gets move to SD. I hope I've answered your questions.
As for your past favorites saved address, the only way I can retain all my favourites is by using Titanium Backup to restore it.
