[Q] Galaxy Nexus stuck on 4.1.2; can't connect to google servers on wifi - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a Galaxy Nexus 16gb, currently running 4.1.2, YAKJU (maguro) JZO54K, on the I9250XXLF1 baseband.
Yesterday my phone was yakjuux, and I decided to flash it to the international version(4.1.2). Lo and behold, I have an update waiting for me as soon as my phone boots back up! I dared to click the "Restart and install" button, and after a few minutes my phone was happily rebooted... Except it had not updated to 4.2 at all. It was still at the 4.1.2 that I had flashed it to earlier, only now there was no sign of an update.
I used a method found on your lovely forums using fastboot and adb to re-flash the phone... I'm not what you would call a n00b, but flashing phones is not my area of expertise.
Can anyone offer any insight? Is there any more information I could give that could help?
SEMI-RELATED issue: I have a wireless network at my workplace that I would like to use to keep myself from using all my data all the time (I constantly stream music while i'm working). The problem is, when I connect to the wireless network, my phone does not connect to Google's servers.. (Grey indicator). A friend who also has a galaxy nexus connects through the same wireless connection and achieves a connection to Google. His phone is running 4.2.1 on a different baseband than mine. His unit is also a YAKJU device.
Any insight into either problem would be awesome! Thanks!

I'm sure someone on here knows how this problem can be solved...
Basically I flashed my phone so that it would be a Yakju phone, therefore receiving updates directly from Google. I also wanted to test the OTA update to make sure that the phone would act like a stock yakju Galaxy Nexus. Obviously something went wrong, that's why I'm posting for help.
I don't want to flash my phone every time there's a new android update available.

[Q] Data and Phone network connectivity problem

My Verizon GN is having difficulty connecting to my phone and data networks. It all started on the day of the outage this week. I assumed it would all fix itself, but it has not. I've snooped around the board quite a bit and it seems all other users have had their connections restored.
I first noticed the problem on Thursday morning. My data status in notification bar would drop to display no "bars." It does not switch over to 3G. I figured this problem would resolve itself once Verizon fixed its network.
Then I tried to send a text and it couldn't be sent. I tried to call someone and it would not dial out.
But these loss of connections are not persistent. Eventually, the 4G works for a bit then disconnects again.
The phone network seems to be doing this as well. Sometimes I can call/text, other times I can't.
I was considering wiping my phone and flashing a new ROM or getting the stock ROM from google to flash. However, I seem to be having trouble with clockwork mod. When I try to reboot into recovery mode it takes me to what I assume is download mode (shows an android knocked over on his side with, I think, a red X).
Is there something simple I can do to fix my data/phone network connection?
If I have to flash back to complete stock, then how do I do this without being able to access recovery?
If all else fails, will I be able to do a factory reset considering the current scenario? I assume I would need to do this before bringing it to Verizon for service.
I appreciate any help provided. Here are some other details that might help.
Rooted with stock ROM
4.0.2
Baseband I515.09 V.EK05 / I515.EK02
Kernel 3.0.8-gaaa2611
Build ICL53F
/edit/
I should have mentioned I had the most up-to-date version of CWM. I just reflashed it with ROM Mgr and it booted into recovery, so that's good.
Well ****. I went into CWM - Advanced - Fix Permissions. I thought hitting Fix Permissions would bring up another menu. Instead it fixed permissions. Hopefully I didn't do something stupid that I don't understand.
I flashed the GummyNex Rom hoping it was a kernel issue or an issue resolved by going from 4.0.2 to 4.0.3. It's been a little better it seems, but it did drop both networks once already and it's only been 15 minutes or so.
The new ROM definitely did not solve anything. I don't know what to do. I need to find a way to get back unrooted, unlocked, stock. Unfortunately, I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 which current SDK doesn't seem to support.

After Rooting and Flashing JB 4.1 My Phone Won't Connect to Verizon!

Hi, sorry if I sound stupid but I'm new here.. After finally rooting my phone with the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit and flashing Android 4.1.1 my phone is restored with all apps and works fine, however there is no cellular data whatsoever. I tried going to the Verizon ESN change website and reactivating it, I tried calling *228 (which comes up with "no cellular network") and I tried going into network settings, all with no avail. Can anyone help?
I rooted with This Toolkit
I flashed This ROM

[Q] Galaxy nexus wifi sometimes not working after time

Hi,
I am having a problem with my galaxy nexus device that was happening ever since i bought the device when it was running ics and also now running JB 4.2
It is hard to reproduce, and not very consistent.
The problem :
Sometimes after I don't use the device for, lets say, over an hour, when I try to use it, The wireless is not working. The Wireless icon is showing, and it is connected to the network but the icon is grayed out and not blue like it is when transferring data. What I have to do is disconnect from the network and then reconnect and everything is back to normal.
My questions are :
Has anyone else encountered this sort of problem ?
Is there anyway to try and debug the problem once it is happening to get some more insight ? (log files or something else ?)
My Device :
Galaxy nexus, wasn't yakju build, but i flashed it right after i got it so ever since it was running yakju.
The phone is not rooted, running vanilla 4.2 JB
baseband version 19250xxlh1\kernel 3.0.31-gd5a18e0
build umber: JOP40C
Thanks !

[Q] Sprint Galaxy Nexus; signal/3G issues

Sprint Galaxy Nexus
4.2.1
Not rooted
I performed a factory reset on my phone yesterday due to it bogging down and being rather slow. I never did a reset after getting the 4.2.1 update so I figured it was a good time. I woke up this morning, putzed around the house, and setup Tasker again. I laid my phone down for ten minutes while I got ready for work. Whenever I tried to wake my phone and nothing happened. I tried a few more times and the screen would not wake up. I pulled the battery, hard reset, reinserted battery and the phone wouldn't turn on. Then, I wiped the contact terminals (on the battery and the phone) and reinserted the battery and the phone booted up. However, since then I have had some major problems.
1. Power button does not always work properly. I have to press it several times to sleep or wake the phone. (Okay, not major, just inconvenient and probably unrelated to the issues below)
2. No data connection whatsoever.
3. In the data usage menu, there is no longer a data toggle switch.
4. Under the Network Mode option, LTE/CDMA produces absolutely no cell signal whatsoever. I have to switch to CDMA only. (WiFi works fine)
5. Toggling airplane mode, as some have suggested, does not cause the phone to connect to mobile data. Another factory reset did not restore mobile data. Rebooting did not restore mobile data.
6. All of these problems are true before and after factory reset. No new problems were created and nothing was exacerbated as a result of performing a factory reset.
I've been from one end of the internet to another looking for solutions to this problem and I have found that many are having a similar issue but toggling airplane mode or rebooting fixes it. Not the case for me. Most also seem to be having this problem after rooting. Again, not the case for me.
Any suggestions? I would prefer to not return the phone. Purchased from Radioshack and the 30-day warranty has expired. This is my second gnex already, as the first one's charging port broke. It took over a week to get this one from another store which graciously shipped it in to my store. There's also the issue of being broke and not really being able to afford another $30 activation fee on top of the deductible for a new phone.
Why not try reflashing the stock image and updating again to 4.2.1?

Not at all. You'd use Odin . Myself I have very spotty sprint signal in my home. Spoke to a corporate executive and they mailed me an AirRave free . Never have less then full bars 3g all around home. You should a- flash to stock using Odin following posts in sprint sextjon . b - call up and try to get an airavana.

Excellent. I will give it a shot at some point today or tomorrow and then let you know how it worked out. Thanks!
So, I restored the phone to stock. Signal is still non-existent on LTE/CDMA mode. Cannot perform Profile or PRL updates. Still no mobile data. I'm guessing hardware failure?
Also, on setup it asks for a SIM card. And at the bottom of the drop-down menu, it says "No SIM card|Sprint" or "No SIM card|No Service" depending on if I am in CDMA or LTE/CDMA.
Also, in the Status menu:
My phone number
Unknown
MIN
Unknown
PRL Version
Unknown
ICCID
Unknown
Seems a little odd to me.
Attempted fully rooting and flashing radios. No luck there either. It's also not wanting to update. Tells me my phone is up-to-date (connected via WiFi). Downloading Cyanogen now to see if it will work in the morning.
And while attempting to flash a new ROM, got the famous "can't copy anything to the device ever, under any circumstances" error.
Update: Got CM10 installed. Still "No SIM" error, no 3G, no data, no LTE. Found some more information on this No SIM error. Apparently a few others have had this same problem and in the end had to get a new phone.
Anyone know anything?
You should a- flash to stock using Odin following posts in sprint sextjon
I've been back to stock twice now. The first thing I did was flash to stock. Then I played around a bit and now I'm back to stock again.
Is there a difference between using Odin and Nexus Root Toolkit to return to stock?
Bump
Wow, one day and my thread is buried!
After battling for about a day, I got updated to JB 4.2.1, I can do profile and PRL updates again, but there is still no 3G/mobile data, and I still have zero bars on LTE/CDMA and have to use just CDMA. I am currently stock but the bootloader is unlocked, no root.
If anyone has heard any solution, please help. Also, if there's a difference between flashing to stock with Odin vs NRT, please say so.

Try fastboot flashing your LTE and CDMA radios again. As far as I know, fastboot commands do NOT require root. I had a similar issue.

Indeed, fastboot does not require root. I've flashed my radios several times now in various different ways. I even flashed different versions. I attempted again but with no luck. I have normal service when using CDMA but nothing on LTE/CDMA. Still no data, still "No SIM card" error.
Pretty sure I'll have to get it replaced. I've gone from stock JB back to stock ICS, rooted, CM10, back to stock ICS, rooted, back to stock JB unrooted, and flashed three different radios. I'm surprised I haven't managed to brick it yet.
UPDATE: Sprint is sending me a new phone, for free.

[Q] Samsung Nexus wi-fi issues, firmware or hardware?

I've been dealing with this issue for just about 2 weeks, and i have no clue what to do...
The Wifi on my phone will not turn on at all. Even after a factory reset (many factor resets). So after looking around I thought rooting the phone and upgrading to Kit-Kat would help. But even after doing that, my phone still would tell me the phrase "turning on WiFi" and would never turn on.
So i flashed back to 4.3 and unrooted my phone to send it to Samsung. Samsung USA claims that they cannot take my phone b/c its a global phone based on the IMEI, but the problem sounded like a hardware issue because a light doesn't flash when i try to turn on the wifi.
LASTLY I went back to the people who sold me the phone, and they claim its a firm ware issue, and that i have to bring the phone back to 4.1 for it to work.
Is this wifi problem firmware or hardware issues? If its hardware, is there a way to make the phone 4.1 without rooting it?

If it's the international version you can get the official factory images from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Don't know if you should use the takju or yakju version, but I've heard they should both work.
The instructions on how to flash are on that page as well
That being said I don't think flashing the old rom will fix it. It's probably a hardware problem.... but, you never know
