[Review] Hunterf iPhone like case - Galaxy S III Accessories

Well i just received my Hunterf iphone like case for my galaxy s3. took some picture before i put it on. sadly i dont have photos of it currently on but it looks awesome. here are the photos that i have as of now. photos of what the case looks like on the phone can be found in the link below.
It is a full aluminum case that removes the stock back plate and is replaced with the one below keeping it thin still. It fits perfectly around the speaker, led flash, and camera lense. It also, on the bumper part of the case, replaces the buttons with nice aluminum buttons. It does add some weight but i don't think it is much to complain about. Wifi seems to be fine but i haven't really tested network signal and wifi much.
I bought the case from this link. I bought it in silver but the colors are red, black, silver, and blue.
It comes with a case, screen protector, little gel like fish toy(?), mini stylus, screwdriver to assemble, screws and plugs for headphone jack and charger.
It came to a total of $51 USD with shipping. it took about 2 weeks to arrive but that is because i ordered right before new years so they were on vacation. which means it might come to you faster!
If there are any questions feel free to ask and ill try to respond asap.

THANK YOU!! so many people promised to do reviews but youre the only one who followed up
But please tell us how your reception ans gps is

it switches the back plate. not sure what u mean by scratch protection?

You need insulation along the side, the amount provided does prevent some scratches, but it's best to add more.
No, you don't need any on the back.
BTW, the fish thingy is a headphone cable tie.

awesomeness.
I'm looing forward to mine by the 2nd week of February

My review!
Thought I would upload some picts as well!
My sky blue finally came in today!
Reception is affected but not dropping completely just one bar off of what i usually get, At home i would range around 3-4 bars with LTE now i would be at 2-3 with LTE speeds are barely affected. At work i go from a solid 3-4 to 3 bars with LTE.
All in all very nice case, but scratches easily.

How about getting a blue aluminum button to match that case.
I have the red button, and hoping that a red version wil be release for the note 2.
but it's only available in silver or black.

And for what its worth, GPS worked fine, no lock on issues but 4G LTE struggled to stay connected because the ASU was too low to maintain the connection in 4G zones.
The higher the ASU the better, its kinda like GPS, the higher the satellites the better the signal

The blue looks gorgeous, I have to say though, Its a gorgeous case but its not very good for a heavy user that needs a stable connection for data 24/7
I bought a Draco S3 Metal Bumper to see how it affects signal after reading the reviews online of other users, I found that the signal drop was only 5db, gps and nfc are not affected and the bumper is absolutely gorgeous, especially the Thunder Black
I'll still use my HunterF case from time to time, Its kinda like a woman with the perfect purse, gotta have a new one every so often to match the urge of use lol
The seller is offering XDA users 30% off but I got mine even cheaper on eBay from an authorized dealer for $58 with shipping, I can post a review of that as well if you guys want.

Just wondering how dust proof the case is? Looks like a lot of dust can get to the phone through the ports, especially with the removed back plate for the s3?

It looks very delicate, i think the paint will get scratch just by touching it

Fair enough, but there is a difference between verizons lte and tmo 4g. And as you stated in your original post about the case you only tested gps, which thanks to you I know there is not too much interference. Plus you also said that you took the data speed screenshot too early and the results were actually higher with the metal case, so forgive me for asking the dozens of others who ordered ro chime in. BUT your thread and posts have been constintanly updated and are a great resource, I learned a lot from your posts thanks

[Q] metal evo case

http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-htc-evo-4g_3934.htm
anyone tried this case? theres at least one other thats similar (looks exactly the same http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000989&products_id=30835). looked up some videos on youtube and looks like its fitting kinda loose, like theres a gap between top of case and phone.
Weak signal
I had one on a htc ppc a long time ago and the metal case kind of made my signal weak, but definetly a stong case.
I have one and it works great. The gap between the case and the phone is actually the padding that acts as a shock absorber. I would recommended a Monaco case eBay, it's the same thing check it out.
Thanks for the info people.
Another question, I keep my phone in my pocket all the time. Does the latch or hinges ever get colaught on anything? Looks like it could. That would definitely be a downer.

Makes sense. I was about to say putting metal around your phone would probably make it damage more easily...
The latch doesn't get caught on clothing. Not unless your wearing one of those christmas sweaters with the big knit lol.

To sum it up they didn't like how it looked so it got a bad review. Also they expected super thin mental to not bend. Can anybody confirm lower signal quality?

got the case yesterday (monaco, black). i haven't noticed any signal loss at all. phone heats up a little faster but i was kinda expecting it.
overall i really love this case. it does add some bulk to the phone but i don't mind at all. kinda feels like it beefs it up some.
Glad you decided to pull the trigger on the case. It's not as bad as these guys make it out to be, is it? Enjoy!
I pulled the trigger one of these when I saw this thread. I like the look and feel of it, but it does have some problems. The main problem I have with it is that it somehow interferes with the antennas in the phone and it absolutely kills me reception/signal strength. I don't have good reception in the building I work in......2 bars is the standard. If I leave my phone inside this case, it drops to 0-1 bars. Within a second of removing it from the case, it goes back up to 2 bars. It doesn't seem to interfere with a WiFi signal, though.
The other thing I don't like is that the latch is fairly easy to open.
With that said, the same day I got it my 2 y/o was playing one of her games the phone and she dropped it onto the concrete The case did its job. However, the impact did cause the door to swing open, but nothing happened to my phone.
I'm not sure if I want to keep it or not. With the slow data services I've been getting since the end of last year, I don't want anything that's going to slow down my phone even more.
Lol... Metal cases on cellphones... Might look cool but not the brightest idea ever, lol

Aluminium/Metal battery cover

Hey,
there has been some like these for other phones but I'm wondering if there is a metal/aluminium battery case for the note.
I don't mean a case that goes around the phone, no.. I mean that we remove the original galaxy note battery cover and place a (brushed?) metal cover in there. Would look and feel good I believe
It has been awhile since this has been discussed here, so here you go:
ebay
amazon
dealextreme
A couple of interesting parts and pieces here, after doing a google shopping search...but not so sure of the shop's reputation: papadigitals
Thanks, hadn't seen those in the forums and couldn't find by searching
Your phone signal will get degraded. Even a shell made of metal does that, unfortunately. Weaker signals mean more battery used, too.
Hopefully the "big"ness of the phone can compensate
I've ordered one a few days ago, lets see what happens what it arrives. I will write a short reply about its performance on my battery and signal
I ordered one two, about one month ago on dealextreme.
But eager to read you review!!!
Seriously?..
jerome is correct, what matters is where the antenna is, which is right underneath the battery cover..
This is a bad idea of the first kind..

Hermès leather quality and quite expensive.
Approx. 270 US $.
I like it in matt khaki.

I have had this on my phone for about 2 months now. no issues with signal that I can tell.. the phone works perfectly.
there is a tiny rubber edge to the cover which does it make the phone a little larger than the stock cover. by about 2mm.
I got a few and figured that it is cheaper than a case, and keeps the phone small.
the only issue for me, which is only slight- is that the pen is a little tricky to get out. no biggie though!
I got the cover today, will post comparing battery graphs and signal strength comparison on different locations
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
the civet definitely effects signal, but it dips from 94dBm to 97 at home
Outside in the open changes are 70 to 76..
Change is minimal in my opinion, it's not like my phone becomes blind with no signal.
A positive side is, it chills the phone insanely well. I normally get to 55celcius when gaming so I Stop to let it cool, hasn't happened with this cover yet. It conducts heat very well.
So I am very happy with this battery cover

Is the one I got, I do notice that it is very easy to scratch because it has lines graved into it. So if you put it roughly onto a rough surface you will surely see the marks
I havent seen issues with the signal yet , but yes the device heats up to 55 degrees which never happened before,. So heating is definitely an issue ....
Btw , i havent put the back cover , i have installed this directly over the back , hope thats not an issue , any insights on that ?

I have had mine for several months. I didn't notice any performance degradation, but the back of the cover is scratched like crazy. All four corners just from setting it down and sliding a wee bit. I removed it and put the original back on. All it is, is a metal paint on a plastic cover. It's cheap really.

I got one from ebay and it takes forever for gps to lock in and reception sucks! I have " no service" in spots i used to have full bars!
I got the same back but in red and surprisingly my reception got better.....however it makes it thicker so it dont fit in my otterbox case so i put my flygrip on it for when im not at work.
I hope it doesn't add to much bulk, didn't think about it though when I ordered it. I will provide an update on my signal once I get it.
If you guys end up doing a test, I'd recommend using the app Network Signal Info. It displays great info for both mobile and wifi connections and shows the results on a line graph for as long as you run the test.
I did a quick comparison between cases and the phone without a case on here, using that app and taking screen shots of the output:

Does it affects the phone signal ?
2 things:
1) Phone signal. Both CF and AL are NOT RF transparent.
2) IR blaster. It's covered.
That is all.

This in theory. I don't have the case. All I'm saying is, unless the people who designed this case are absolute genii, this case is either a) going to have signal issues or b) be made out of materials other than just CF and AL.
Just recieved mine today, the red with black back, im not keen as it makes the phone look quite big, reception wise i didnt keep it on long enough to fully tell, but it did knock a bar off my reception, also ir/power button is metal so ir blaster will not work with case on.

good thing you didn't buy it, it looks amazing the bad things are,
its incredibly bulky and very bad reception
i usually had 1-2 bars at home not good reception but something.
NOW i have completely no reception. I'm not using this case. it is completely horrible for me.
I even researched online where the antenna of the phone is and the whole back is an antenna, but because of the case all the antennas are touching each other.
Like this phone has the same issue as the iphone 4 (bad grip) signal issue. not complaining i love the phone more then any other phone out there. just with it had better reception or i had better reception at home

The back cover look too shiny for me, but look forward to seeing your review on metal bumper.
I had some ebay bucks so I grabbed one I will post some pics when i get it and post a review.
DO NOT BUY THIS CASE! I just got mine and it just feels cheap, the "carbon fiber" backing is not good, but I would say the worst part is the chrome sides, if they just left it all one color and didn't have the "bling" studs on the case it would be much better. Also doesn't help as soon as I out it on just for kick my reception tanked. Stay far away, I'm glad I just spend some spare eBay bucks on it and not any money.
Thanks for that I was just about to buy one as well.
In addition to the signal issue and the IR blaster being covered, there may be a third problem -- the noise-cancellation microphone hole on the right upper corner of the back is covered by the case. This will very likely affect the clarity of voice, as the noise cancellation mechanism is impaired.
