Try Euroskank Jellybro with Ktoonsez kernel! - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Seriously I've been using this as a daily driver for months now.. I recently flashed Ktoonsez kernel and it is seriously the slickest daily driver out there with literally no issues thus far. If you want full functionality and a SUPER fast rom give this rom a shot and check out Ktoonsez or the Task underwear kernel.

I must be the only one who can't find the instructions on how to flash his ROM.
I tried to do it the normal way of flashing:
nandroid
data/factory reset
format system
wipe both caches
flash rom
flash kernel
flash gaaps
wipe caches again for good measure
reboot
but then I had a boot loop... so I rebooted back into recovery and ended up having a different recovery.
I then redid all the steps above and it came through. (quite quickly)
I was very surprised at the speed and smoothness. I thought I would fall in love but started having problems when I started to use the phone.
First my calls were strangely muffled/staticy.. I've never had that happen. Then when I went to use google voice for texting, it force closed and I couldn't use my keyboard. I don't know why, but I have this issue on the other 4.2 ROM I've tried (Tasks) I wanted to look into it, but there wasn't a FAQ or Instructions from what I could see. I read somewhere that sometimes you can get a bad download when downloading straight from your phone, so I'll report back once I redownload it. It probably it just a bad download, or bad flash method... How did you flash it?

First, most Google force close issues are resulting from not update Google search even with flashing gapps, first thing is to open play store and you will see an update will be immediately available. No more problems after that.
NOW, this ROM- just for reference I have flashed and extensively ran Task, Illusion, Jellybam, CM10.1, Root box and more. This is the smoothest, non problematic, dependable, end user friendly, option loaded, perfect running ROM personally for me. There simply are no ands, ifs or butts. I have the at&t variant S3, I too run the Task/Ktoonez kernel in conjunction. McHammer said it best *Can't touch dis* this should be one of thee most commonly popular used ROM on the market. Djn541 I personally thank you for ridiculous, flawless work bro.

Thanks for that! It's true.. It wasn't showing as a needed update. Thanks!! I redownloaded and flashed and woah it's even faster than it was the first time! I used the Ktoonez kernel this time and it's running well (as of now atleast )

Not really sure how someone being a "jerk" would effect the quality of the development. I hope that some of you that get emotional over this kinda stuff will at some point focus on the development rather then feed into some emotional attachment to words that are said. You need to focus on what this site is for. Development. So whether or not someone is a "meanie" or whatever you want to call it doesn't/shouldn't matter considering that this site is for developers and development. Its not your personal "make my phone cool" site. Its to progress and further android so that people can have cool things in the end.

If you are just using the phone as normal, leave it. If for some reason you experience a lot of random reboots you want to lower the top end. But on Tasks Kernel, I don't ever have reboot problems and I leave everything at his defaults. Butter.....

Modifying kernels can lead to damaging devices. The kernel is like the engine to the OS so it's kind of a big deal. My kernel is compatible with tmo devices.

Yes. Based on yesterday's GB base or a leaked incomplete ICS base. Not exactly "miles ahead".
Because its gingerbread.

According to THIS article dated May 2nd, only 5% of phones are running ICS. Its not like its widely used yet. We on XDA just get antsy sometimes and WANT IT NOW.
TDJ is planning on updating his GB ROM to the new GB update. Since GB is not the hottest thing, he is taking his time with it

Sticking with GB, I have yet to see a DD ICS Rom that isn't having a lot of issues. There is no source yet, or proper kernel. I'm patient, and until we get Team Kang's work on that, I have my ASUS 300T, so. Lol

I am currently running wanam's 1.1 version of his stock-based ROM. Been running it for 2 days and has felt much smoother and battery friendly than stock! ATT and Samsung apps are flashable later through CWM which like. LOVE this ROM. Only known issue that I have seen is the 1080p recording for the camera. It does record in 720p though. Thanks!

I ran CM !0 for a few days but I used a Mac and MTP doesn't work so its a bit of a deal breaker for me, but in all fairness its Extremely stable to be an Alpha build. My first android phone was the G1 and then on to the Nexus One so i'm a sucker for AOSP based android roms and for Cyanogen Mod in general so ill be running it when the MTP gets sorted out on my Mac.
I tried Wanams rom, I remember him from my SGS2, Hes a great Dev & its really stable as well.
The best all around so far for me is AndroidUser00110001's Rom linked below. I've found the wifi disconnect problem that i was having with the other TW Roms is gone and it has had the best over all balance of performance and stability.

I have looked at it, and the one I have installed on my phone even has the Aurora designation I intend to use if I publicly release a rom for this phone, so we will see.
Also, son of a *****, godaddy didn't auto-renew my domain. Guess I will need a new one.
A buddy of mine just got the S3 and isn't into the touchwiz and nature theme. He just got the phone yesterday so I've been looking for the best custom rom with everything working. Any suggestions? Definitely AOKP. Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions are awesome. I've yet to find any bugs that keep it from being a daily driver. In fact I've found none. But I haven't used it that in depth much, we shall see.
But I put my vote in for AOKP. By far the best, and I only flash for AOSP based ROMs anyways. :good:

You sure about that? Yeah i wouldn't count on it. The whole "close" thing is almost certainly merely referring to the international models. Carriers still have to take their sweet time bloating it up with their stuff. I'd guess that we'd get it sometime early next year or late q4

Yep some pretty good ROMs out there.. i've been on Blazer for a while now. Gets the job done. It just gives me something to do, escape reality through technology, and some kind of social connection with this badass forum.
Sure wish i could contribute something to the development world though..
Please omit my last post, I can't stand stock ROMs for this device. CM10 = The way to go. just my opinion though
I usually run rooted stock at first then flash a ROM that has things I like in it. I used to be one of those flashaholics back when I had my Evo but not so much any more. So far, I've only flashed 2 ROMs. Rooted my stock when I first got the phone, flashed Blazer ROM 1.3 (updated to 1.6 later), and just last night I flashed AOKP.
I'm really picky when it comes to ROMs. Battery life is huge to me, but I'm a sucker for shiny things like Jelly Bean.
In the past I would stick to ROMs based on the stock ROM, as I felt they had less problems and better battery life. However, CM & JB are hard to leave once you've flashed it. JB just seems right!

Whats not working in CM10,is it daily driver yet?
I been running CM10 as well. Was on blazer Rom for awhile but it's hard going back to TouchWiz after getting a taste of jelly bean.
For me it's good enough as a daily drive but I'm on one of the older builds that had Bluetooth a2dp working although it cause in-call volume control to not work. Currently though on the latest builds, a2dp isn't working.
Other than that, it runs great for most part.
Do these Rom make for a longer battery life? If so what are your battery lifes before/after?

As of today, what would be the best (in your opinion) daily driver ROM for the GS3?

I just received my S3 a few days ago and have just now been following threads to scope the scene. I am aware that I can create a backup and play around with the ROM's myself, and I will do that actually. Before I do this I would like YOUR opinion on the top ROM and why. What I (personally) look for in a ROM is: stability, good battery time, performance/benchmarks, features, look & feel and more. Thank you very much and have a happy new year!
tldr; What is the best (US) Galaxy S 3 ROM based on stability, battery time, performance, features and look/feel.
That's a tough question as everyone has personal opinions of different Roms and each device will also handle each ROM different in my opinion this will only turn into a this ROM is better than that ROM thread and that is not good

It depends on what you are looking for from a ROM.
If you want stable stay with stock TW
If you want latest and greatest chose AOSP/AOPK Rom.
Both are now on 4.2 which is much smoother and faster than TW.
No bloatware of course. Better battery life with custom kernels etc...
CM 10.1 is great
Tasks AOPK is better IMHO at the moment. CM is updated nightly which is a plus it minus... Task updates his ROM less frequently but it's a lot more stable at the moment...
Which ever ROM you choose if not stock READ entire OP make sure you follow it to the T and then read all posts as they tell you all about bugs and workarounds
Good luck

I always follow the instructions to a T, I want the best experience possible out of anything I flash ever. You mentioned better battery life with the Kernels, any experience with ktoonsez's or Task's kernel? Could you give me some estimate figures (example: 5 hours battery on stock, 8 on ktoonsez)
Running Illusion (CM based Rom) with the latest KT747 and no issues here, so I disagree with the guy above. I prefer stock android which is why I like roms like Task's AOKP and CM10.1 the most. It all comes down to preference.
Running Tasks AOKP 4.1.2. With lean kernel. Never crashes never any problems. Most stable custom ROM I've ever used. 4 hours screen on time, best battery I've ever gotten.
Just waiting for some updates on 4.2 then I will upgrade.

Where is the thread for the Task roms? Searching for "Task" brings up too much ambiguous crap.

If you are having issues searching you certainly don't want to use Task's ROM. IMHO....Happy New Year!!!!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684 There's no need to search really. All you would've needed to do it click on the original development forum and my thread is right there.

Thanks, orig dev I think was the only one I didn't click on.. Time is limited taking care of a 6month old..
This just ends up being a popularity thread.
I'm a huge AOKP/CM10 fan, but right now those ROM's don't have the one thing I need (USB-DAC) so I'm stuck with TouchWiz based ROM's.
I flashed Ultimatum ROM last week and have yet to have a single issue with it.
It's mostly stock with minor tweaks, so it SHOULD be a reliable ROM.
I then flashed a 23toggle mod with blue icons, so I at least have a good looking ROM also.
I find myself always restoring a debloated version of DG's m7 stock based rom with tasks kernel. I use rom toolbox as well to help tweak certain battery consuming apps. I usually lose 3-5% overnight on standby(7 hrs if I'm lucky and my kids let me). I think juice deffender helps me as well. Performance is pretty good but I'm a battery dork. The thread is probably back a couple pages now if you want to look at it. All of these dev's make great roms though. Try them all. Its called flashaholic and i'm a member.

I'm in love with the Aeonfluxx ROM. I've tried dozens of roms claiming to have great battery life, but none come close to Aeonfluxx.

I did.
I had the same question, but about the newer 4.2.1 roms. I want to upgrade, but i'm not sure which one will work best for me. Seems like Task and KTz joint is the most popular right now, but CM10 has been my daily. AS far as TW, I keep going back to Bacon Step with KTZ kernal becasue i use bluetooth alot and its my last TW backup. I want 4.2, but i need bluetooth to listen to my podcasts. What 4.2 rom has working bluetooth audio?

Can anyone help?

Just got my GS3(ATT) and im loving it.
ex Galaxy Note user so im familiar with rooting/odin/kernels/recoveries etc..
i just need some guidance in a completely stock rom that hes everything working.
and a kernel that everyone is trying
this isnt a "which rom is better?" thread or "what do you recomend?"
i know i have to try things out fist but i wanna keep it TouchWizy for a bit for now
Ive downloaded Ultimatum 2.0 so far
oh and i got stock ICS so i wanna get some Jelly goodies
Thnx in advance if mods feel the need to take it down because it starts a flamewar about rom pleasedo so.
Thnx once again

I dispute the existence of such a thing, but suit yourself...
If I were you, and I'm reading correctly that your phone is currently running ICS, I'd start with stock Jelly Bean; you can grab a rooted stock image here. Since I'm not running a TW ROM presently, I can't really suggest what might be good beyond that; I'll take the opportunity, though, to point out the KT747 kernel (which I'm currently running) available in several different flavours for AOSP and TW alike; configured properly, it's consistently been a performance and battery life boost for me.
Realistically, it's probably best to poke around for yourself and see what works best for you; there's a lot of development effort going towards this device right now, and there's something for everyone.

Hahaha yeah same here but we always start with stock
Thanks for the links
ill most likely start out with stock JB TW and add the kernel for some performance then start doing some more heavy duty stuff
anyone else's help is appreciated as well.

I was like you before I became addicted to AOKP. Check out Jedi Invasion 2.1. The performance on that thing and the battery life is amazing, PLUS! it's running TouchWiz! Why I didn't stick to it was because Facebook wasn't working for me :/ And since you've used a Galaxy Note, you'll feel at home

Thank you!! I'm downloading it now.. I decided to skip the stock JB for now and just jump to the big stuff.
My fiancé hates the flashing lol
I had a bad Note where calls/text wouldn't come in.. It might of been the ROMs too, not sure. But I had promised her I wouldn't flash anymore..... I just couldn't stay away haha
Any other kernels or tweaks you guys can
point out?
I know with the Note, the AOSP/AOKP roms had the whole Bravia/Beats/Thunderbolt tweaks (not that I need them or anything) just wondering if there is any like them
Thanks once again.

Tell me how it goes! It's an extremely well built rom
Yeah, I know what you mean, haha. I used to flash like 5-10 roms a day; I just couldn't find the right one! But ultimately stuck with Task's AOKP.
There's this other rom that is very similar to a Galaxy Note II experience, if you're looking for one that is. It also has the Bravia Engine and DSP Manager (kinda like Beats). Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951115

So far its amazing! And everything is working.. I couldn't stay away from aosp Lol
Any opinions on Liquid Smooth or have you tried it?
On the Note it was crazy fast or smooth so I'm gonna see how it does on the GS3.
