[Q] Can upgrade, what to though? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

So got a text saying I can upgrade for $30 upgrade fee. Soooooo........ what should I get?

Oh oh I know. Get a pony. Don't try to root it though, you might get kicked.

Anything but HTC

My heart says the DNA, but the part of me that has been screwed/ignored/overcharged by Verizon and HTC say go to AT&T and get a Galaxy SIII. Then another part of me says AT&T won't be any better, but T-Mobile and Sprint have crap coverage around me.

I will only buy nexus phones from here on out.

I think I'm due for an upgrade sometime in February 2013.
I'll just wait it out until there is actually something *promising* on the market.
Hopefully there will be a Nexus on Verizon by this summer.
Or maybe the rumored Motorola X phone?
Ah well, we'll see.
---
Oh, right - you wanted suggestions...
HTC DNA looks great, if you can stomach buying an HTC after the update mess here on vivow.
I like the Droid Razr HD a lot, but it looks like the bootloader is still locked :/
You could always wait it out, like I am. Anyways, let us know what you get!

If you could upgrade tonight?

So I know this ahould probably be in q&a, but probably won't get many hits over there...
I can't upgrade until February 2013, but called in today about my phone and they are giving me the option for early upgrade. Catch is, the supervisor was just being really cool and most likely will not get this opportunity again.
No Inc lte unfortunately as that's what I thought I would get in Feb. Good news is I can preorder the s3 or any other phone on the current roster... What would you do? I have 2 hours to decide if I'm gonna do it. Also, I think I'll be grandfathered in for unlimited data if done now, right?

What are your thoughts on the s3? I'm afraid that the Inc 4g will be too similar... this way I would have my giant, more powerful 4g phone, along with my 'normal' sized inc2 that runs ics without a hitch (on stock kernel) trying to justify this because the specs are pretty impressive on the Sammy, buuuttt... My fascinate sucked lol

Lol, doing the exact same thing as you. And I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the s3. Spec wise it's too impressive, and you know it's going to get good dev support. I've flip flopped around on what phone I wanted for awhile now but I'm wanting to try out a Sammy phone.

Which phone to get

So I've had my vision for almost 2-3years now or something like that. absolutely love it, but I'm pretty sure I can get an upgrade and apparently they are doing away with those so I have to act fast. Basically I don't know what to get.. there's the gs3 or one s would be my 2 choices.. any thoughts?

I've been looking myself, but haven't found anything I really want yet. The 'Era 42' rumors have been quiet, but I'm still hoping a G3 will get released.
If not I plan on just getting a GNex and going off contract. Between the price of the phone and off contract plans, I'll end up saving money in the long run.

If you are thinking of looking at the HTC One S, then have a look at the Motorola Razr M. A few reviewers like Engadget like the phone (some doesn't like the camera) but perhaps it might be on your list of consideration?
My GS3 will be here tomorrow. I've always said that I wanted a phone with qwerty, but I recently realized that it's been a long time since I've even opened the keyboard on my G2. Swiftkey is what caused that to happen, so I know I'll be happy with the GS3.
There is a new "Galaxy S" Qwerty coming out from Samsung, supposedly has a dual core S4 inside, so it has good guts.
Other than that, the GS3 and new Nexus devices would be the only ones I would look at.
Go for the s3. just like me
Just keeping my DZ as long as a new Nexus comes out.

HTC One/M7

HTC's announcement for their newest phone is today (in a couple minutes, really). A video was posted as a preview, which you can watch here, but it isn't in English. It's a pretty good looking phone with some decent specs but overall I think HTC just makes some weird decisions. Calling this device the HTC One after they've already released HTC One X/S/V etc. Seems backwards to me.
Anybody possibly going to be moving to this phone after the Inc 2, or for those of you on newer phones like the DNA/Inc 4g will you be jumping ship this early? My upgrade is in July so I'll probably give it a shot but ultimately I think I will end up with the Galaxy S IV (a sure-fire for development down the road, and for straight spec-power) or potentially the rumored Motorola X.
Specs Quick Reference:
4.7" Full HD screen
Snapdragon 600 processor (Quad-Core)
2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage
2,300 mAh battery
4.1.2 Jelly Bean
My next phone will haveto have on screen keys. I was thinking the HTC One but now I'm just hoping the X-phone is real. I fear it'll probably have an amoled display though(not really a fan). I could get past it if everything else was in order.
Hi guys, I just found the HTC One section on xda
Its not linked on the portal yet

No way I would buy another HTC phone. Hoping the Motorola X is real. And that it won't be locked when it comes out. Weary of anything Verizon really. Coverage may force me to stay with them though.

I know that feel.
If Motorola X doesn't work out soon....I'll be on an iPhone
Until Google and Big Red get their sh*t together. Then I'll be back!
I'm just gonna wait till a phone with the Snapdragon 800 is announced. Until then, I think I'll wait. My GS3 is good enough at the moment and the Xperia Z is perfect.
I thought of putting something witty in my signature, but I was too lazy to do it from my GS3.
Umm... why do you have two phones?

Thanks for the obvious info Captain Obvious. Unless Verizon releases it on their network, the chances of the One ever being on Verizon is really slim. Although I'm pretty sure most of us already knew that anyways.

Where does it say that? Because as far as I know, only Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T are confirmed to carry the HTC One.

That's just speculation at the moment. Verizon might end up doing what they did when the HTC One X first came out. F*ck it up and give it a Droid name. *cough cough Droid Incredible 4G LTE.

[Q] Upgrade Options

So here it is. Time to upgrade. Followed the Eris->Inc 1->Inc 2 path so obviously I seem to like HTC phones but the Galaxy S3 seems like a nice one too. Since I like the Inc's I'm stuck choosing between a Incredible 4G LTE and a Samsung Galaxy S3. Anyone have helpful info or opinions?
Darn shame we can't get the HTC One on Verizon....at least not officially afaik...

I thought there was talk about it coming in the Summer.
Wait for the GS4 to hit big red. I'm not gonna pick HTC anymore due to this phone not getting updated n the lies. Shoot November hits I might even switch to sprint

My upgrade is on the 17th & I'm getting the SGSIII. I think it's a solid phone & I don't think the SGS4 is not a big enough upgrade for me to consider. However, i'm more purchasing the SGSIII because of price. Just me though.

Verizon HTC One

I know, I know. This is an AT&T forum but I have to vent somewhere. It was just released that the One is coming to Verizon but not until September 5th. My question or rant..whichever you prefer. Why on earth would they wait so long to release a phone everyone else had released in March? By this time HTC will be well in the works for the ONE's replacement. HTC is my favorite, have been holding out on my two unlimited plans for the ONE....but 8 months later. Come on guys. Sorry if this bothers any of you.

This is what Verizon usually does, and a large reason why I left them for AT&T. The running "joke" amongst Verizon users is "It'll be late, if at all" for devices.

Precisely the reason that I am a new AT&T customer. Just couldn't wait for VZW any longer.
It probably had something to do with Verizon wanting the Verizon logo everywhere on the phone/s
I really don't know why they are going to release it so late, better late than never I suppose.

It really doesn't make any Sense at all (pun intended).
But I'm actually worried more for our Verizon bretherens bootloaders. If any carrier is gonna lock a phone down that is unlockable on EVERY other carrier and variant it'd be Verizon.

Verizon is probably going back and forth with HTC right now on replacing the HTC logo in the front with the Verizon logo (just look at what they did to the Note 2)
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Verizon is also probably trying to milk the Droid DNA Cow for every drop she got...
BTW
Rumors of a HTC One Ultra. Plus, etc... or something like that (a bigger version with a Snapdragon 800 processor) have me both pissed off and salivating.
Pissed off cause...you know, I have had my phone for a month and a half...
Salivating cause...that Snapdragon 800 processor seems pretty tasty...

Will ship August 22nd.
There's a debate that the reason all the carriers havent updated to 4.2.2. Is because Verizon is keeping them from doing it until they get the one. How messed is that? I'm not sure if that's 100% true but sounds like a good argument.
There can only be one, the chosen ONE.

So the 22nd it is... Sure took them a long time to put that disgusting branding on the back. What a shame.

Add me to this list. I left for the One amongst other reasons. Kinda kicking myself now that Verizon will be offering it, but it is what it is. AT&T has just about caught Verizon in terms of 4G LTE anyway.
I'm also looking forward to new nexus devices that I'll actually be able to use!
