[RECOVERY] ClockWorkMod Testing - HTC One VX

This wont permanently break your device or any bad stuff. The worst that is going to happen is possibly lose your personal data.
THIS IS A WIP IT MIGHT NOT WORK. If you flash this and it boots to recovery, you should be warned to not use any of the functions right now. You might lose personal data from /data or /sdcard. Its important you pull recovery log
Instructions:
Download cwmrecovery.img from here
Put phone in fastboot mode
Open command prompt and type "fastboot flash recovery cwmrecovery.img"
Reboot to recovery
If it boots to recovery type "adb pull /tmp/recovery.log"
If it says device not found let me know and exit recovery without doing any of the functions

I'll try this when i get home in a little bit. If something goes adrift though, will i lose the data from my sd card? or phone storage? or both? im just wondering, either one i can back all my info up to my comp, though most of its saved to my gmail.
EDIT: tried it a second time, and it does not boot into recovery. i think i forgot to try and boot it to recovery the first time i tried it.

Same results, can't boot into recovery also

Doesnt look like jmz has updated this since before the working root method. Best to wait on this until it's updated i think. There is a stock recovery.img here in case you want to return to working recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122940
Just extract the recovery.img from the zip and flash it. If that's not the right file let me know and I'll put the file up here, just don't have time right now.

Anyone find anything with this ?

Yes. I always use that to get a recovery device folder. This device is much diff in the recovery world. Ramdisk is huge with libs and bins. I'm trying to get one of these this weekend but that is if funds allow it

Well that's awesome , lol, thanks for the work on this phone

I just picked one of these up from ebay. It should be here around this weekend. But it doesn't have a battery cover. I couldn't find one on ebay. So if anyone knows where I can get one please let me know

Maybe you can pick one up from HTC themselves i dont know how much it will cost though

[Q] Help Please - Bricked One X

Another thread like this... I know. Sorry.
In an attempt to load the modified battery management file, I've managed to brick my One X. It just sits at the 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen and that's as far as it gets.
I can boot into bootloader and then use fastboot, which in turn has allowed me to load the Clockwork Touch Recovery. I can reboot and load this recovery fine. But whatever I try, I cannot get it to boot back into the normal OS.
I cannot mount the phone on my laptop as that's not an option (that I'm aware of) in the One X recovery mode. Therefore I cannot copy across a new ROM to the SDCard and reload via 'Update.zip'.
Battery is healthy, everything was working prior to this failed attempt at being clever.
What other options are there to re-load a ROM and get the device working again?
Thanks in advance for your help
Rob

Thank you, very much. A question, where it says:
'After that download RUU specific to your handset and run. This should install fine and return you to stock.'
I've downloaded what I think is right and I have a .zip file, how can I get this onto the device to install it?
It is mentioned in the instructions. You will need to use adb.
Edit: I presume that you have fast boot and adb installed on your PC. If not you will need to do that for your device to be recognized

That's the trouble, I can't. Because there is no USB access in recovery, ADB doesn't work.
Unless I'm missing something obvious?

No adb.
Boot into fastboot on mobile and run the RUU from pc.
You need to have your bootloader locked before the RUU can run.
fastboot oem lock
Also did you try a factory reset in recovery and then tried to reboot into system

Thanks guys, sorry for the slow reply...
I do indeed have ADP/Fastboot on my computer still.
Where can I download the stock RUU? I can find a .zip version from this very forum, but how do I install that if I can't transfer it? I had assumed there would be a .exe version to run from my computer. Is there?
skywalker1970 - I did indeed try that, thanks.
Thanks again

My Friend has Bootlooped his One X

Hi. I asked my friend that is new to android:
to root his android phone n flash his phone so he can become somewhat of a modder:
however he has just told me that he has got into a bootloop after flashing the cyan theme on a stock HTC ONE X bootloader unlocked.(international)
He had not made a backup & wants the least complicated method
Do you have a simple solution so he can boot his phone into his phone?
Edit: I have looked on google but cannot find the right solution for his situation.

Hold the power button down til it turns black and the lights blink then hold volume down to boot into bootloader.
Then select recovery and reflash his Rom. Or push the stock files that got edited using adb.

If recovery doesn't boot tell him to go into bootloader -> fastboot and then use 'fastboot erase cache'.

Yes he can get into recovery, i kinda feel responsible cause i told him to flash something.
Anyways I've searched on google n i can't find any clear instructions on erasing fasboot cache
Why did you tell him to flash something he knew nothing about? Surely you advised him to read up on everything first, download the right RUU as backup, etc?

Just grab a Rom and flash it in recovery that will fix it. Don't make it complicated. No need for anything else he only changed a few files like systemui and framework.res, once they get replaced again with the new Rom it will boot as normal.

Yes, please!
I really like updating roms, but a huge drawback when I have to connect it to my PC all the time...
I miss the old HD2 days...
Nice find, I think it could, but it's dependent on init.d, ROM devs could maybe implement or into there rom though. I'm gonna test in a mo. The boot seems to be writable once the roms booted, just not from recovery, so it basically flashes it as the ROM boots.

[Q] Finally took the plunge and rooted it, but can't do anything else?

Finally rooted the phone today, but when I try to go into an alternate recovery, or install a ROM (which I've never done before) the phone reboots (like it should I'm assuming) begins to load what I told it to do, and then I get an image of my phone with a red question mark above it, and my phone just reboots again.
What's causing this?

How are you flashing the recovery. The description you are describing is the stock recovery to flash a new recovery do it in fastboot (fastboot flash recovery name of recovery here)
Get the all in one tool from the dev section and it will do it for you.
All you need to do is choose which one you want CDMA or gsm, twrp or cwm (i prefer twrp for the one v)

'Ok the All in one tool worked. I flashed TWRP, wiped my caches and installed AOKP JB 4.1.2, i've got the "Initiating swagger" screen, how long should this take? It's been about 10 minutes...
So as far as i can tell, the rom install failed because i didnt complete the wipe (because the wipe through TWRP failed...) what causes this?
It will say it failed because the sd-ext didn't wipe (THAT'S A GOOD THING) the /sd-ext is your SD card lol. So did you get into the actual ROM for aokp? So when you clicked swaggerfy it froze? Hmm I'd try a different ROM or different kernel what kernel are u using. I reccomend Jan 3rd super slick (anything newer breaks the camera).
Edit: i noticed you said caches? Do did you click factory reset? I usually do factory and dalvik but i think factory does it all.

I hope I get a fairly quick response to this Followed some advide in that thread, flashed a kernel (I thought) using the All In One Tool, ever since, I've been stuck in a bootloop. Obviously I have access to my bootloader and TWRP (thankfully). My recovery backup returns the same results though.
Im new to this so I'll try toprovide all the info I can.
Followed the TUT on how to Unlock Bootloader and Root 2 days ago.
Yesterday, using the All In One tool, flashed TWRP onto phone.
Was unable to Flash AOKP JellyBean 4.1.2 so I asked for help again (ROM was flashed, but stuck on Initiating Swagger Boot)
Tried using All-In-One to flash (what I thought was) a kernel, since then, my phone just boots continuously or not at all (depending on if I wipe or whatnot)
While at work, I was able to Flash the AOKP rom and Boot into it, but after about 1 minute of use, it reboots.
This is where I'm at now.
My bootloader says
***UNLOCKED***
PRIMOC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.57.0000
RADIO- 1.00.05.0929
eMMC-boot
Jun 18 2012, 10:22:43
I'm using the latest version (2.3.3.) of TWRP
Is there anyway I can find, and delete, the boot.img I flashed with All-In-One, that caused this bootloop?
Found out why: radio is the new version aka .0928
HTC provided a new radio release and it screwed up being able to flash new JB roms. The fixable solution is to find the virgin mobile ruu exe and do that long process to get the old radio: .0521_2(?) back. I'll link you to the ruu thread in a sec let me find it first

So I accidently mis-read a post a fellow XDA member posted and flashed my boot with the recovery.img before I was able to make a backup of my boot.img. So what can I do now? Phone hangs at HTC intor logo, however I can still flash and enter BOOTLOADER.
Would appreciate the help chaps...
Fastboot getvar version-main
Go to fastboot and type that, post outcome. From there on we can find the right RUU for you. Once you have the right ruu you relock the bootloader with
Fastboot oem lock
Then you plug in your device and run the RUU as administrator. First get the version main and don't do anything you can't undo! With an ruu u can get full stock back
If you want to run a custom rom anyway you might as well download one and flash it away and flash the boot that comes with it. I understand if you want to revert back to stock first though, your call

Turn off, plugin make sure the zip is still on your phone if not copy again. Unplug phone before flashing and flash zip from sd card again. Just copy the Rom in the internal storage not in a folder, this could cause problems
Don't worry about battery life it usually charges in recovery and if not there are plenty scripts out there to charge it anyway. The thing to do in these kind of situations is stay calm tomorrow I have time to find the right ruu for you if you still want to return back to stock.

Hate to say it, but I just repeatedly troll spammed the mount/unmount option in recovery while plugging and unplugging the USB cable - Seems to have done the trick. Copying fresh Viper .zip over. Fresh flash of recovery and fresh flash of Viper boot.img.

There's an option in recovery to wipe everything in preparation for new ROM installation, should I do that?
