[Q] Front phone speaker stoped working after root - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! This is my first time here in xda
Anyway, I have rooted my old HTC Desire HD and i ran in to a problem.
Whenever i get a call or i make a call (phone, Skype whatever) the sound is coming from the back speaker and not the front one... but its not like its on speaker phone... When i get a call, the sound from the back speaker is low like its needs to be and only if i turn the speaker phone on it gets louder.
its like the phone thinks that the back speaker is the front speaker.... did anyone had that problem?

My friend had same issue..
I found a thread
elsewhere that mentioned removing the
battery for about a minute seems to solve
strange hardware problems with this
phone. So I removed the battery, waited,
put it back in, rebooted and somehow,
that fixed it!

HELP PLEASE! I can't hear caller voice

All of the sudden I can't hear caller voice, but when I put on speaker then everything is ok. I then switch back to regular mode and can't hear. As if I am on mute. Anyone have the same problem? or help me pin the problem. The phone rings fine.
Please help the old guy out geniuses.
Thanks in advance
hi,
i think that your problem is not software but hardware...it happend to me...just the little speaker broked....you have to change that or you can use with bluetooth headset....
Keep in mind that this is my experiene , i don't know if it be the same for you..but i think so
How many speaker are there on the phone? I thought only one right? the music, handfree speaker is fine. If there are more than one speaker, please direct me a site where I can order it. Thanks
For some reason, I think this is more software problem then hardware. The phone is in my case and never drop and taking really good care of it.
Hi!
I have same issues here.
I think there is a rom problem or somenthing like that...
Here I have to reset.. make alot of calls to test .. raise de volume up.. change speaker and works... its really annoying.
BTW.. I was using Cloudy 1.3 and was flawlessly. Changed to Gen.Y D2 R2 , issue is back .. =(
I think it's a software problem.Have you installed any software like codec or some other audio/sound application? If so try to uninstall it and resart your device. If not try a hard reset.

i believe there are 2 speakers in diamond, one is for ringer and speaker phone the other is for calling.
try switching back to Cloudy 1.3 and see if problem still exist?
if there are then your speaker is broken otherwise it's the rom problem.
Guys, just FYI the same issue appears when you install SRS WOW HD sound driver v1.5.1. Version 1.2.1 was working smoothly on diamond, but once i installed this new one, all sounds are mute for some reason and once i uninstalled it again, it was back to normal. Don't know if this will help, anyways with this issue you don't hear anything (ringer, alarm, caller)...
Actually I had the same problem, it was the internal speaker giving problems... u might hve to give it in for repairs if u can....
Hearing aid batterys? lol
I also have this problem... I believe that some of the ROMs that I've installed before set the speaker volume too high which resulted in the speaker blowing. I suggest you either send the phone in for repairs or search for software on XDA which turns the speakerphone on automatically when you make calls, that's how I get around this. You just put it by your ear like normal and you can still hear the phonecall =) Seems like HTC uses really crappy speakers in their phones...

[Q] Speaker auto turn-on when calling

Hi guys,
Since a few days, for some reason my phone automatically turns on the speaker when I either make a phone call or am being called. I tried turning off the car mode auto-launch and I downloaded a free app called Car Mode which also didn't work.
I also searched some other forums, it seems that this is a common issue on the normal Desire. Some people state it's a hardware related problem, others say it's software related.
Does anyone know what's happening here?
Thanks
When your phone is on call, and you flip your phone over face down, the speaker would activate. Please use the search before posting for god sake.

Congratulations on being a dumbass, sir.
Read my OP and try again.

I have tried during call a few times but it did not switch to speaker mode.....why ?
audio defaults to speaker
this has just started happening for me too... hence coming across your post...
feel like a **** sometimes when I pickup my phone and put it to my ear to start talking and the voice blasts out the speaker instead
Did you find a solution?? I'll post back here if I find a solution....
On another note.... thanks for the help LittleJerc...

solution...for me anyway
I feel like a little bit of a LitteJerc now myself... I just restarted my phone and phone calls dont automatically go through the loud speaker anymore... why didnt I try that before.... the classic 'have you turned it off and on again'.....
See if that works for you!!??

Help please - can't hear anyone...

I went to use my phone today and something is amiss.
When in calls I can't hear the other person - doesn't matter if the call is incoming or outgoing.
Strange thing is the touch tones sound out of the ear speaker when dialing but when the call connects - nothing.
If I connect headphones or activate the loudspeaker then I can hear the caller.
I've taken the phone apart and removed the little ear speaker and cleared out any dust etc and made sure both sprung contacts are in order - after putting it back together - still the same problem.
In desperation I've flashed back to my phone's stock ruu and still the problem remains.
Can anyone suggest what the problem may be?
bump - still stumped.
why not choose another ROM?
have you?

Microphone issues

I've been having microphone issues ever since I got my samsung gs3 a few weeks ago. People tell me that my phone sounds like it's on mute or that suddenly I'm faded away because people will say "hello? Are you still there?" Meanwhile I can still hear them fine. It happens on almost every phone call. However, when I use the speaker or my bluetooth headset then it works fine without problems. My phone is not on mute and I have turned of noise reduction and the option to mute phone when turning phone upside down.
Is this a known or common issue or does my phone need to be replaced through samsung warranty? I searched this forum and several other sites, but it doesn't seem like there is a fix.
Thanks.

problem with my speaker

why when ma phone ring the top speaker (left speaker) dnt ring always only sometimes it ring in calls but it works fine in music and as phone speaker but not when i got call
any answer ?????
Same problem.
Lived my life with my 816, then sudenly my wife told me that the sound on my phone was "mono-a-like"... got call from a friend but he didn't hear me... and i started to look what happened... came up with these comclusions:
Top speaker working, mic and lower (right) speaker not working.
Started digging on the internet. Found some info that it could have been update fault (and not only htc ware ..."faulty", also my friends samsung galaxy started to act wierd)... but found info that rooting 816 could help. Done that - unlocked, rooted, changed all... didn't help... got back to my old version, but haven't found any answere what might have happened. May be "just" hardware fault, may be not... Anyone?
