Lots of information on XDA forum, but not unified for this version of software.
After spending several hours reading the treads, i was able to do it and motivated to create a blog about this
So i wrote 2 articles, one how to root and one how to install a custom rom, containing links to XDA treads and goodies
Do you still need help?

I am sorry if i sounded like i did not do any searching or research on resolving this issue..
In fact i have been searching on the webby for the whole day looking for the answers and found many.. but none were able to work for me... It may be due to my limited capabilities in understanding and therefore i am seeking for help in this forum...
I believe the purpose of this forum is to share and help out everyone in any way possible.... Its good that you have bought a KF for your finacee but i dun see any rationale in boasting here what you have achieved... not everyone is able to resolve everything just by doing some research like you.
I am just a sincere noob KF user who is looking for some help... Appreciate if i can have some constructive comments instead... thanks

My suggestion would be to take some time out to read over the first two posts in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
The first will help you get some basic understanding of how these pieces fit together. If you are using Windows, the second makes sure you have the device drivers installed correctly. Once you've done that, you'll want to set the bootmode on your device back to normal using KFU. Provided the Kindle Fire software is working correctly, you should be able to reboot and get it working normally again.

[Q] kindle fire unrecognized in windows. adb does not work. No SO. bricked

hello.
I write this post because right now I'm desperate. my kinde fire was rooted and works great. I wanted to install an unofficial ROM and there came all problems.
first of all I want to say that I resort to this message because I've tried everything, but I did manage to save my device.
My Kindle was rooted and TWRP works well. I inadvertently left the device without an operating system. I forgot to put a rom after you wipe. After this, when the device booted, first came out the white and orange logo, then white and blue recovery and eventually returned to the first logo.
First I tried to recover it with the original firmware. I could not access the device via the file browser windows, so I copied the. zip with adb push. after several attempts I went to plan B, because I always got the same "error 7", so I tried to install the cyanogen rom, but I had the same fate.
After that, I was reading about fastboot, so I downloaded kindle fire utility. I think something went here even worse, because now TWRP gone.
I finally discovered unbrick kindle utility, but now my pc does not recognize the device. drivers are installed and kindle fire utility says "adb: online", but I can not access the device.
I searched a lot of information, but I think I am increasingly far from the solution, so I decided to write this post.
anyone can help me to recover the kindle? I'm desperate now. I'd like to have everything as before, I do not lose the root
thanks!!!

Hi! i alredy have the same issue. I tried to change the room but something was wrong... I tried to get back and i used kindle fire utility too. I think it was the problem because now i can not turn on. did you find the way to fix it!??????? help i am desperate as you were...:crying:

Hi. I was just commenting that a lot of people are rushing into doing things without reading, or even checking what model they have. Admittedly Amazon hasn't made it easy by advertising it as the Kindle Fire 2. All the recent posts in this section of the forum are from people bricking their devices, mainly because they did something wrong.
I don't know how the situation can be changed, apart from building some checks into the KF1 rooting/modding tools.

After Root -> sluggish Kindle with flashing logo
Hi,
I root me Kindle Fire v2 (v10.4.6) to, with the software KFFirstAide but I got several problems.
1. software can't find and install busybox.apk
2. software shows me the message "all fine" but the kindle is sluggish and the boot logo is always flashing every 2 or 3 sec.
The Software-Option to remove this problem doesn't work - i get always a error back.
Is there an option to fix this?
If i use the kindle option: factory reset, all works fine again but root is off.

Is it worth rooting the kindle fire? I've been thinking any doing it and flashing a rom
---------- Post added at 03:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:16 PM ----------
One thing I like abt rooting is that it gets rid of the special offers which get annoying after awhile
Is it possible to change the original ROM-Version 10.4.6. directly to CyanogenMod 10.1.3? ( cm-10.1.3-otter2.zip) or does I need a factory cable for a downgrade or some other fixes? My only experience with CM is a Samsung N7000
That's not a downgrade, the kindle doesn't run CyanogenMod by default. You have to install 2nd bootloader+ twrp to flash custom ROMs. Look here for info and make sure to downgrade the boot loader first, and I can't stress enough to check the md5sum of the boot loader when you download it, you don't want a hard brick from a bad download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963

Anyone else here get the 8.4.5 update? I got it about 3-4 weeks ago and just a couple of days ago, got 8.4.6. Sent a message to Amazon to see what was fixed/added, but didn't get any information yet.
Wondering if it would effect rooting/installing CWM or CM mods.

I just used the method from this and it worked fine to get root.
"this" method worked for my Kindle too
Used the same method, first under Linux, which would not work, then fell back to Windows 7 which also failed saying "couldn't find specified paths".
Connected Kindle to PC before starting next run and all worked perfectly.....full ROOT and no data loss, all apps working again.
Thanks to all...

Tried this one a few times, the computer pings the 4.2.2.2 address just fine, I installed the drivers and ran the software. when it asked me to plug the kindle in, I do so, and it continues its business , but the computer starts installing new drivers during this time.
The prompt window says that the kindle will reboot into recovery, it doesn't and in the end, it says that the kindle will reboot, but nothing happens...

Hello All XDA members,
I have a Kindle HD 8.9 and as the warranty passed off, at the same time Christmas is nearing...I decided to install CM KK on my sons kindle as i don't have enough money to give a present to my son.
I've done all that is given here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963.
Problems I've faced are as the thread didn't mention to root I was trying some codes without that but some how figured that i needed root to proceed..Simultaneously rooted my kindle rebooted and then proceeded with the codes i.e backup of system img and all the steps that were given.
I has all the downloaded files in download directory so the stack push didn't work first then i moved all the required files to C> ADB folder and everything worked but before figuring it out i googled stack file push failure and came across a guide that has the stack push directory to data/temp (I see that this was later edited here)
However i retried with the push to the location that is currently mentioned now and it worked (So the stack file is at 2 locations now)
Proceeded with all next steps and stuck at flashing bin file in fastboot, realized the downloaded file was .bin.html i renamed it to bin and flashed
Everything was done as mentioned except something that needed to be understood and done by logical thinking like removing .html and flashing .bin.
After all this when the kindle was supposed to reboot it didn't and its completely dead now... I have done all that was mentioned and have said all the errors or misses that i has above ..now is it that the kindle is dead brick forever ?
I cant trust how can that be because i really know how cautious i was and i did almost every thing as mentioned..
Saddest part is that now I've messed up my sons kindle which i thought of Flashing CM KK and giving a little gift as i'm not capable of providing any gift now ..I've messed his kindle as well now
I'd be really glad and thankful if some one can help me out in this situation and recover kindle.
Again i'd like to mention I've done as mentioned please trust me and still have the image backups, i read that the back up can be reflashed but as there is no commuication via ADB or flashboot i don't thing that can be done now .
Why did this happen what can be possible reason ?
Sounds like you may have accidently saved a webpage instead of the .bin file, that's why it had the .html on the end. If you tried to flash this to the bootloader then unfortunately you have bricked it

It shouldn't have .html on the end. Check the md5 sum for the file and make sure that it is the same as it should be, you should ALWAYS do this when messing with the bootloader
Maybe you flashed wrong images.
I just went to the link of the guide that you followed in flashing a second bootloader and recovery. The instructions are for a Kindle Fire 2/ Otter2. Its a different device from the KF HD 8.9. So.... if you did flash the images from that link, it will lead to a bricked device no matter if you followed the instructions to the letter. Maybe you can sell it on ebay or Craigslist for parts. Just a thought...

I actually plan on doing this for a similar reason. My sons kindle battery life is appalling as it drains faster than before and charges slower, plus kindle updates are lacking badly and some things don't work anymore.
I hope you can fix it somehow.

As stated by Max above, if you flashed those images from that thread you linked to in your post, then those are the incorrect files for your device. and would have definitely bricked it! assuming you do have the FFHD 8.9 inch. but you still may be able to unbrick it. are you positive of which kindle device you have? if you are positive that it is indeed a KFHD 8.9, do you know which version it was on before you started the OP?

Let me see if I got this correct, you sold the bricked kindle with the incorrect images on it on craislist? You Bought another kindle off eBay that has been reported stolen/lost? That sounds like some of my luck! So you got another kfhd 8.9? And you are for sure!? If so, go to about tablet in settings and see which version its currently running, also turn ON USB debugging and set it to allow 3rd party app installs in security settings, then get adb and fastboot working and we will go from there.

yes the lag is known issue after/when trying to root using some of the ways posted! if you can get through the lagg long enough to get an app on it i would recommend using an app called keyrootmaster you can get it here http://download.apks.org/?server=14&apkid=com.zhiqupk.root&ver=1.3.6 this is what i used and several other posters i know of, THE ONLY BAD THING IS the app is written in Indonesian language, BUT it works and after about 3 taps you got root! if you are going to CM or some other rom it shouldn't matter about the language anyway as all of that app will be gone and superuser is baked into CM anyway. see if you can get that app, get it rooted and let me know and i will try to help you get TWRP and CM installed.
