I haven't found a thing to complain about, yet, except for perhaps the screen could be a bit better (still not complaining) and I wish the native grid layout was 5-across instead of 4.

I'd lose the physical home button.

No physical keys. That's the only thing I'd change. It doesn't bother me at all though

In my experience, the only thing that screamed out at me was that the colors were overblown in the default mode. But the screen ends up looking pretty good once set to movie mode. I was a little concerned, at first, when I learned the subpixel layout wasn't standard RGB - I hate non-standard pixel layouts. It's close enough though - still three RGB subpixels per screen pixel, but it's RG over a long B. It sure beats the crap out of the pentile S3.
Out of curiosity, in what way would you make the screen better?
The one thing I'd change: cram a beefier GPU in there. Seems a little underpowered.

1080p screen would be nice concidering a lot of companies flagships are shipping with those now. Not sure if amoled's are capable of that res though

The fact that the glass is fairly susceptible to getting broken. Truthfully my girl put her phone down on the counter when she was cooking picked it back up and there was a crack from just above the volume rocker over to just below the power button. No hard hit or an uneven surface just cracked like a clean crack. No chips nothing. .. Good times eh?

Sorry, to hear about your girlfriends experience. Does anyone know if that is a common occurrence with the Note? Having the screen break easily?

32gb as the minimum option for the same price as the 16gb. Really, 16gb shouldn't even BE an option.

Same just happened to mine! I've never broke or scratched a screen or laptop in my life because I am OCD about taking care of my high end electronics. But I've had my Note 2 for less than a month and have already cracked the screen apparently. I didn't do ANYTHING to it... I just noticed there is a 1" crack in the middle today. It's hard to see and COULD be a scratch but my fingernail catches on it BAD and it distorts the LED light so... ATT suggested a screen protector to keep it from spreading. Putting one on tomorrow. I wonder if I could buff out the crack before I do???
One thing I would change? It's too round/slippery/heavy! It has shot out of my hand like 6 times (all on bed/couch thankfully) because its so heavy/wide that I must keep a tighter grip than usual and the stupid sides are actually slanted/rounded in a way that pressure makes the phone want to SHOOT out of my hand when a finger slips. Am I the only one who just cant hold on to this damn phone? A case is ESSENTIAL but, its just TOO big with my otterbox on it... For this alone, I am switching to the S4 which, actually has a squarish edge and a FIRM grip! What were they thinking making such a gigantic beast have NO grip???

Change the screen to 6 inch 1080p. Ok that's two.

More internal storage memory. Phones this big/expensive should only be 32/64gb not 16. Cause after OS etc we only get what.... 11?

My headphone jack on my blue S3 is defective. Every headset I try if I spin the plug it will cut out the right earphone. My white one is fine. Funny thing is tho I like the blue one better so it is a deal breaker for me and rogers is sending me a refurb.

What are you doing to your phone to cause these cracks? I've had mine since it launched on AT&T and I've noticed no defects. My original Galaxy S had some issues like the bottom buttons would blink and click when I wasn't touching them (returned for a new one and didn't have that problem).

Pics of your back case? Just curious what kind of cracks you have. Do you have a case on it? My case covers the back so I'm not sure how it would get any kind of cracks on it. I wouldn't really call a google search with a handful of results a known fact. I had the original Galaxy S - horrid GPS on that was a known fact. There were posts everywhere about how bad it was. I'm not seeing that kind of result with cracked screens or backs.
I've got the blue also and I'm not having any issues with these sort of cracks on the back cover. And I've removed and reinstalled the back probably 50 times in the month I've owned it (I switch back and forth between my HOX, GNex, and S3 constantly).

Mine has very vivid cracks on the back case, What i do not understand is why pebble blue is having issues known to white only.
I have blue, and have some micro cracks around the flash, I'm assuming due to extended use and overheating. You have to want to see them though, pretty subtle.

The cracks on the bezel are quite well known (except by Samsung who won't admit it!). White ones seem to be worse, but cases have been reported on the blue ones too...
My wife and I upgraded last week. Her SGS3 micro sd card reader was inoperable out of the box and we had to return for a new one. I had 4 cards in different sizes formatted to fat32 that worked in my SGS3 did not work in hers.
I figure Samsung is churning these units out at such a quick rate to meet the demand.

Screen alignment with bezel off?

Hi all. Got my Note 2 and loving it. Got a question though. My screen is slightly off center with the bezel to the right just a bit. Theres more "black" space where the screen live pixel end in the left then the right. I know no phone is perfect and dont want to exchange and get one with bigger problem. You guys have same issue? Might be different side of bezel. Want to know if its a normal accurance. Thanks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
My screen is slightly off center to the right as well. Once you notice it you can't unsee it.
Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Mine doesn't do that. If it were me, I'd make them give you a new one. When you're paying 600-800 for a phone it'd better be perfect. Imo
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Well, I did an exchange for a different reason, and yes, the new one has the same alignment issue too. Not as bad as the first one I had. After checking the stores display of different Note 2, they all had same screen alignment issue. Some more visible then others. Not a big deal to me with my new one. On another completely different thing, I find it kind of misleading that when you see the pic ad in Samsungs Note 2 site, you see the feather image covering the whole screen, not showing any dead pixels on the sides. Yes, $600-800 is a lot of money but there is not 1 device out there that is perfect. Either squeaky back or power button, blueish screen, loose buttons, speaker cracking,.... All have something.
Of course, if problem is really bad, exchange for new one. But as of now, I love the Note 2.

oh yes very common on Samsung 1st batch's but not talked about much.
My Sprint versions had off center so I swapped out second was perfect - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33473143#post33473143

First ATT was perfect.
Second was pushed left with menu key backlight transparency jagged.
Third - my current has perfect center & menu key.

I'm new to the GS3 and I have noticed a defect on the screen.

I bought my s3 yesterday. and Last night going to bed I have to play with again. I noticed when I have all the brightest low I could see a lot of black dots on the screen and a lot of black lines on the bottom of the screen. Is it just mine or your is too? Again I had my lights off and put the brightest all the way down on the screen. Then try on your phone to get a black picture and you will see. I took a screenshot of it but I can only see these black stuff with low bright. If this is just me I may have to return this baby

Yeah I noticed about the other thread. I got my phone yesterday and noticed it when I was in bed playing with it. I have the s2 t989 as well and that doesnt have the defect. I understand some of the old s2 have some defect on the screen color but this one is different. It looks like the digitizer was cracked. At the bottom it looks like a signature a bunch of black line and a lot of dots on the screen. Though when I put the brightest a little bit brighter its gone. It doesnt bother me. But This phone is new and it should not have any defect.
Common defect nbd. Not even close to how awful the backlight bleed was on my iPad 2 before I got it replaced.
I do Have the same issue but i'm not sure if goingto change my phone is under warranty!

known issue. However, my S3 doesn't have any or at least it is much much better than 2 my previous ones. (yes, I know how to check it and Im very picky; Im that kind of guy that goes to the closet to check the screen right after unboxing it). I didn't exchange my phone for this issue. i just happen to get a non-black dot one. Exchange it if you feel so. doesn't affect much tho.
This is on all OLEDs even mine, it is not defect and will not disrupt colors or brightness since they are visible only in pitch black, I don't even think they would replace your phone because of that

[Q] Planning to get a Galaxy Note 2 (International Version) concerns inside.

So I've been with a few Galaxy devices and the Tab 7.7 was a huge disappointment with the screen department as I've never gotten one that had no obvious issues. I currently have a Galaxy S3 and the only glaring issue it has is the pinkish whites but I dont really care to much as the phone was a company gift, planning to pass it on to the wife and get my self a Galaxy Note 2.
First order of business is are there any common screen related issues on the Galaxy Note 2, all Im aware about is that there are some screens that are more bluish/reddish than others. I do hope that the Galaxy Note 2 does not have any of those black crush issues, suction cup/circular marks on dark images and banding lines.
Second, how responsive is the S-Pen on the entire screen? Some Galaxy Note 1's had a very poor / zero response on the edges of the screen and how is the 'input latency' on it?
Lastly how awesome is it ?
Hey there.
1. I have had no screen issues. Whites seem fine though not as bright as an LCD. No black crush or anything for me.
2. Pen is great. Quite accuraye and responsive. I did noticed a small inconsistency towards the edges only when moving quickly.
3. So freaking awesome haha

Regarding screen color "issues". Samsung allows you to change the screen mode in the device, which will give you different color densities. Not a defect, it's s great feature for those who prefer a certain look to the devices screen.

Samsung's best amoled yet. Black crush has not been an issue. Actually kind of makes me upset as this screen looks better than my 51" Samsung plasma now. Lol. And if you're gonna use a screen protector might want to thoroughly research which ones work fine with s pen. The cheap ones I got from T-Mobile are terrible for s pen and have no oleophobic coating. I had to polish the screen protector with rain x to get a usable screen and functional with s pen.

With the previous generation I had to deal with uneven colors on the screen, like for example the Galaxy S2's yellowish left side and the Tab7.7's darker side and the screen was filled with cup holes. Though I spent the last hour searching for any related screen issue complaint I havent found anything yet which is a good sign, I dont want to go through all the trouble with my Tab7.7 (about 11-12 replacements)

For the screen protectors I think Im going with SGP Ultra Nano something.. they should work well with the Spen.
Any other input from users especially if they have seen/heard any screen issues would be nice, so at least I can lower or raise my expectations properly
Looking for more feedback if there are any issues
The only current issue I'm aware of with the screens is that on some devices, the s-pen doesn't register at the extreme lower, right corner of the screen. Mine has this issue but it doesn't bother me as I have no reason to want to click there.

Thanks, with the really low response on this thread I would assume that there is not wide spread screen related issue on the Galaxy Note 2. even on the Galaxy S3 a simple google search gives me tons of results from users reporting with a defective or a problematic screen.

Black dark pixels on your galaxy?

I have about 2 pencil eraser size dark spots on my Galaxy only seeing in a dark room and when screen is black. Is this something you guys have in your galaxy and please don't say this is not common threads are everywhere with amoled screens. I'm Just saying don't want to exchange it when I might get a worse one, I heard some people have had as much as 10 spots.

I don't have any, but pretty sure it's a common problem with amoled screens.
This is common with amoled screens. I haven't seen one without this.
Yeah I read a thread where this dude who worked for tmobile said a lot of them have it, he had to replace his 3 times to get one without one. Also my power is a little loose instead of being firm tight. I hear people having loose volume, home, and power buttons even falling off. Samsung really has to make better builds than this plastic thing, it's not like it cost them much to make. Also I feel like the home button could be a little higher as with a case I tend to touch both.
