[ROM] [AOSP] [Linaro] CarbonRom Nightlies/Releases [maguro] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Download Carbon
All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.
Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

found an issue with the install script - download this again if you have already - you'll likely get an error 6 otherwise.

Flashed and experiencing the smoothness and lightning speed

Finally!!!!
Downloading now!

You should rename Chronus to cLock in the OP, since the name was changed recently.
Quite funny that the error 6 bug in the build has also found its way to this rom from LS. Does this mean its literally just a renamed version that could also be called beta 4?

just flashed it, looking good. one question, how can i use CM's default launcher? never liked Nova and all the other custom launchers. thanks!
EDIT
found it, thanks/

You probably didn't manually update Google search in play store (which causes constant KB FCS) if ur using a diff lang then please use our international KB apk

It froze for me at evry boot, no matter what language was set. Fortunately i use SwiftKey as keyboard.
By the way, i did a very clean istall (all Wipes, Factory Reset and Formatting System).

I am really interested in this ROM. There seems to be a great team behind the scene.
Could someone compare this ROM to MiNCO v6 with franco r264?
Does this ROM run with franco kernel?
And which kernel is included? An own one? ^^ Are the comprehensive speed enhancements, including Linaro -O3 and processor-specific optimizations lost if flashing another kernel?
Thanks in advance guys! Followed you on G+ and joined also your community there.

in case anyone is wondering, the delay in seeing the boot animation is due to added support for boot audio. we haven't included any in there, but if you want, you can do so by placing any mp3 named boot_audio.mp3 in /system/media.

I'm not updating my hboot - Which means I'm still using the older kernel from pabx.. If you have an updated hboot, you can update the kernle by pushing the boot.img and modules found in /system/lib/hw - I will porbably sort out a flashable.zip when I can..
I updated my hboot.... But I will still support you guys who can't!! check out http://goo.im/devs/carbon/endeavoru/release/old-hboot for old hboot roms
Lots of thanks and respect to pabx, for letting me use his device tree, kernel, all his modules and helping me to get it boot / everything working!! Much Appreciation
THIS MEANS - ANY HBOOT!!!
As with all 4.2 ROMs, if you want to go back to 4.1 ROMs can be tricky... taken directy from pabx's thread
pabx said:
SDCARD Notice
Android 4.2 significantly changes the way how sdcards are handled internally, due to this we dropped USB Mass storage support. This build does only support MTP!
Also note that the ROM will move your data from /sdcard/ into /sdcard/0 on first boot (0 is the 'home directory' of the default user). If you go back to 4.1.2: Don't forget to move the data in 0/ back to the root of your sdcard.
Going back to 4.1.2
If you go back to your old 4.1 backup: Do not forget to re-flash your 'old' boot.img.
Also note that you'll have to move your migrated data from /sdcard/0/ back to /sdcard/ (CWM doesn't know about /sdcard/0/ yet).
This can be done via (while booted in CWM):
adb shell
cd /sdcard/0/
mv * ../
mv .* ../
cd ..
rmdir 0

after running liquid smooth 4.2 for more than 300 hours without any major issue i would love to give it a try and i will after an hour
thanks Matt!
Let's see...
Thanks a lot all of you!
Have been waiting for this for while now. Thanks for it.
I am running ARHD 18.2 by mike1986.
Do I simply need to flash boot.img and then the ROM with Gapps or there is some other step too? (Apart from wiping the device data, obviously)
I am running HBoot 1.36

Hi matt.
Loved the LiquidSmooth rom. It was the best i ever had on my HOX and i'm having high hopes for this one. First issue though. Just after a clean install, when i try to go to the 3G Access Points (to manually configure them as my operator has a bit funny settings) the com.android.phone process crashes. Is it just me?

Pretty good so far mate. Had some weirdness with the status bar settings not showing, but closing it and re-opening seemed to fix it. I havent actually used Carbon before. But nice, thanks! Keep up the good word
I'll use it a little more and report any issues.
Yeah its stated in 1st post, i have same issue on my device...will see what could be done on next builds to fix that.
btw thanks for testing/using it
gps
Hello I installed the rom very fast but unfortunately the problem of the other CM11 offline gps does not work.
So I went back to the original rom.
Carbon is based on CM11 so indeed the bugs will be the same ...
This ROM is great. Will use pretty heavily today. I don't use GPS much on it.
New build is up
This one is for Castor (not the wifi tab)
Build 1 here
Using castor_windy build. Works great and no issues so far ( haven't used GPS yet ). Seems very fast/smooth. Always liked Carbon on my nexus 5! Thanks for the work to everyone involved.

Bugs
CAMERA: Enabling stabilization option in camera settings under "Video camera" causes an error message and crash when attempting to record.
[*]APP: Gardenscapes connection error on all yoshino devices. Enable storage permissions for app manually.
CAMERA: Manual focus by tapping while zoomed in crashes the app.
All of these issues are present on modpunk's latest LineageOS build. I'm not a programmer, so please be patient while the issues are resolved!
Nice! Been hoping for a Carbon ROM build for the xz1c. Just flashed and looking good so far. Thanks so much!
I installed it. So far everything is working for me. Will you continue to compile new versions, especially if new patches arrive?

I shared my initial version with the intention of releasing new versions.
However, my only practical platforms for compiling my builds on are my laptop, which takes 6 hours to build everything without having compiled anything else and gives me only 20GB of free storage space after building, and Google Cloud Trial which is just a trial, and so it has a limit.
As long as I have access to a build server, new builds will be released for at least a while.
New build! No device-specific bug fixes just upstream changes and a kernel switch
Going on vacation so no builds until around mid-August. Sorry!
While you guys wait, I recommend installing AOSP Phh-Treble with a DRM fix, Magisk, and SELinux permissive patch. The included camera won't work, but Open Camera does and the quality will be as good as stock despite being AOSP.
Also runs noticeably smoother than other AOSP roms like AOSP compiled directly from sonyxperiadev, pretty ironic considering that Treble GSIs aren't tailored to device-specific level.

How did you manage that? I was on Stock rom booted into TWRP. There I did a factory reset and wiped System, Cache, dalvik and data. Then I flashed the System Image from treble project the A partition one vanille Android but it didnt boot. Am I forgetting something?
EDIT: Fixed it. You should not use a Magisk patched ramdisk before flashing or use a patched kernel. A flash after coming from a fresh stock rom worked.

I'm sorry for not committing to this project, but shouldn't you be grateful that I built CarbonROM for lilac and shared it with you and the rest of the community?
You've needlessly pointed out twice that progress on RR for the S9 has halted. And? Developers are humans, just like you (I assume).
I suggest that if you haven't already, you should experience what it's like to build and maintain a custom ROM, before continuing to complain about inactive developers.
I'm back from vacation now, but I really don't have any reason to continue with this project, doesn't help that I would have to share my builds with people like you if I did. Google Cloud credit is running low anyways, and I don't have access to any other solutions.

Anyway, thanks for your work. Some guys here may cant read your post before about your vacation.
May be you will change your opinion about not publishing any future versions.
I think that Carbon was running quite well.
Dang that sucks. I really wanted to see more from CarbonRom.
As I expected...you ask for donations in your first post and now......no more updates
you developers always ask for donation and this is one good example why many people dont donate.

Sorry, I've never shared my builds on XDA before, and I was just trying to follow other CarbonROM members' post formats. Please note that I am not a member of the CarbonROM team, these are unofficial builds.
Good news! I now have a dedicated build machine, completely separate from my main computer.
I may post more builds soon, but flashlight, RIL, and camera are currently broken in modpunk's LineageOS I built for myself (my CarbonROM uses his device and kernel trees).
Hopefully I'll be able to revert the changes and bring a build to you guys sooner.
@SirSoviet Pls I'm not being rude or bossy I just wanna ask are we going to get new builds of this rom?
