first of all you need to root your phone.
you can find rooting guide in general as well as developement section.
then you need to install custom recovery.you can download rom manager from play store then from that app you can flash cwm recovery.
then download appropriate zip of rom which you want to download.
you want 4.0+ so here many ICS roms available(cm9) and also JB roms (cm10).
look at developement section and then download zip file of rom.
put it on sdcard
then go to recovery(remove battery then reinsert battery, hold volume down and power button)
you will see hboot menu, wait 2-3 seconds because it will scan PMG76IMG file.
then with volume button scroll it to recovery and then use power button to go to recovery.
then wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
(do twice for sure)
go to advanced
wipe dalvick cache and battery stats
then install from zip
and select your rom zip file and install it.
now your done.new rom will installed then reboot system.

When i have press volume down+power
and choose recovery it bring me one photo with mobile and a red triangle with a ! insinde.
And stay at this screen forever....
the specs it show when i pres vol. down + power are:
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.57.39.31

HBOOT
<VOL UP> TO PREVIEOUS ITEM
<VOL DOWN> TO NEXT ITEM
<POWER> TO SELECT ITEM
FASTBOOT -> GREEN COLOR
RECOVERY -> GREEN COLOR
FACTORY RESET -> RED COLOR
SIMLOCK -> BLUE COLOR
IMAGE CRC -> BLACK COLOR
can you find out anything for all that?

you need to root your phone first.
your phone is 2012 model?
if you bought your phone in 2012 you might wont able to use other than stock sense roms.
here is tutorial for root and installing custom recovery.

for wfs 2012 okay.

I don't understand where i must enter the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" at pc or at phone and if it is as phone how i enter it?
I have already unlocked bootloader is that any matter?

A 2012 model can have an jb or ics rom. Eoghan's kernel includes a patch for 2012 models. So you have to flash the rom and than eoghan's kernel. This should be working.

just root your phone.you need custom modded recovery which you can find in wildfire s general section under [guide]wfs 2012(i gave its link earlier)
then flash ICS or JB rom and flash kernel by eoghan.its in android dev section under second page i guess.
thread names as [kernels]cm7/cm9/cm10/paranoid 2.54

first go to this post and download 2012+cwm+recovery.zip file.
and also attached kernel you can see at end of post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37337141&postcount=33
then extract that 2012+cwm+recovery.zip to your main computer drive( e.g. C drive)
now open start menu and type cmd.
you will see command prompt.
now locate it to your c drive,
something you will see like this:
c:\user\name>
(name ll be your account name there)
so then type
Code:
cd..
you will see then c:\user>
again type
Code:
cd..
so now you will see like this:
c:\
then type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then you can see custom recovery will install in your phone.
then you need to download root.zip i attached here and then flash it via recovery.(remove battery, hold power+volume down) select recovery now you can see recovery.then go to install from sdcard and select root.zip it ll root your phone.
now if you want to install ICS and JB roms you need to download these all roms and then immediately flash kernel from mentioned first post.
done you can use cm9/cm10 roms.
good luck.
NOTE: (Read first)
(you need to download htc sync for htc drivers because without htc drivers this fastboot not work.plug your device with your computer in fastboot mode.just with power +volume down button you can see first option fastboot so select it with power button.you can see in that option "fastboot usb" on upper side. and yeah download htc sync but when you do fastboot close htc synce from notification bar.we just need htc drivers so we download htc sync.)
for confirm that you device is connecting to computer type
Code:
adb devices
you can see now name of device like MB02393 something like that.if you cant see meaning you didnt installed drivers correctly.(when your phone is on and usb debugging is on,in fastboot mode this won't appear so dont worry)
if your motive is only use cm9/cm10 roms and nothing to do with stock rom then no need to flash root.zip just backup your stock rom .
recovery has backup option.
then do as in first mentioned link:
if you stuck anywhere like htc logo and all read each page of this thread might it ll help:

[Q] installing custom roms

hi...
can any1 tell me how to install custom roms using pc...........
i have searched the forum....but couldnt find any answer.................
sorry for starting a new thread........
thanks in advance
General Method:
- find, download and copy a flashable rom called "fullwipe 1.3" to the sd
- copy the zip with the rom you want to load in it to your sd card
- reboot into cwm recovery
- install zip from sd card
- choose the fullwipe 1.3 zip
- install
- then choose the rom's zip
- install
- reboot
wait for it to load. there you go.
For more advanced rom's, you must make directory's on your sd card for them to work properly. Follow instructions posted by the Rom's developer for proper installation.
thanks bro..........4 all ur help..............
1 more question........
what about using it through the fone......
i mean .....after downloading through the rom manager..........should i follow the same procedure ????
question
I rooted today, s-off & eng-off, installed rom manager
what do i have to do to get clockwork to work
I try booting into recovery but, display goes blank & has a red triangle symbol & after many minutes nothing happens..... can some inform me of the step I may have missed or something i can do to verify that i have the device set up properly.
Hopefully Thanks in advance.

I can appreciate that, but I need to know what to do. I try to do that & i get an error while attempting to run privileged commands. Flashing sounds all great but I cant seem to get it to do anything in recovery... error issues trying to do that, or anything else, I also have super user update issues that say they put a recovery image on the sd card & to go boot that from within recovery.
Just hoping to find out why i cant do the simple things everyone speaks of.

Well if you can't flash recovery from Rom Manager then there's something wrong with your root privileges or s-offs... Just to make things clear, how did you try to flash the recovery?
AT THE TOP OF THE BOOTLOADER IT MUST SAY "... ENG S-OFF RL" FOR THIS TO WORK
With the device connected, boot into bootloader and select FASTBOOT and press power once.
It will now show FASTBOOT USB, and give you 4 options.
Download the newest 4.x.x.x version of the cwm recovery from the dev section.
Download My Toolkit and Extract to C:\
In the recovery zip that you downloaded from the dev thread, find the "recovery.img" and extract it to the RESOURCE folder of my toolkit. (make sure its only the recovery.img and not the folders it sits in)
open up a command prompt (windows key + R, type "cmd" and hit enter)
type in: cd "C:\HTC ACE TOOLKIT\RESOURCE" and hit enter.
the prompt should now be in that directory.
now type in the following EXACTLY and press enter afterwards:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Let it flash, and badaboom, you have just flash cwm recovery.

well, in that toolkit i told you to download is a command script that does pretty much what I told you do to for the recovery.
Since you and I have the exact same phone I recommend grabbing the radio from the 2.52 korean build (Radio_12.59.60.26U_26.11.04.21_M), and the rill's as well.
Here is the radio and ril (first 2 links, download via the dropbox links): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996630
make sure you're in bootloader > fastboot and it says FASTBOOT USB on the screen
take a radio.img from within the zip and drop it into the resource folder and then run the shorcut in the toolkit.
It will now flash the radio to your phone and reboot.
Now with the rill's you flash via cwm recovery, from the RIL zip you downloaded, off your sd card in the same way you would flash a rom.

I would Like to thank you for your help & support, I was a the step of having fastboot usb And on my pc I unziped the radio And droped the image in the resource folder, a window pops up (disk burner) only option to choose is DVD R Drive.... do I have to have the SD card unmouted as a disk drive to the computer?
leave disk burner outta this. lol
The phone should be in bootloader under "fastboot" so the highlighted area will say FASTBOOT USB (since your phone is connected to your pc).
If radio.img is in the RESOURCE folder of my toolkit, go back to the main folder (HTC ACE TOOLKIT) and just double click the "Flash Radio" shorcut.

Changed Rom
Changed rom last night & wanted to know weather I should flash the "rill's" & "radio" each time I change roms. I just did the radio now so hope that cures the tinny sound, also it sounded kinda tinny just playing music, is there a patch or something else to do or is all that fixed in the radio?
Any suggestion on roms to try? using Revolution HD right now.

[tutorial] How to Unlock Bootloader and Root your Htc One V

Here is a simple tutorial on how to unlock bootloader and root your Htc One V.
Do this AT YOUR OWN RISK and I don't guarantee it will work on all Htc One V (but successfully done on my Htc One V (PrimoU)).
First: Credits go to:
1) paulobrien for his tools & guide
2) bagofcrap24 for the stolen unlocking bootloader tutorial..
Second: It is good to have official RUU for your Htc One V version. You can find the official RUU HERE(credit : JMZ) & HTCSync in case you something goes wrong and you need to revive your One V.
Or make a nandroid backup after you successfully unlock the bootloader. How ? Read further below. So read fully before you attempt to unlock bootloader and rooting.
Third: the tutorial
Unlocking Your Bootloader
Note: After doing unlocking bootloader, all your data/apps are gone so make a backup to your PC first.
You will need to run the initial setup again.
1. Go Here "http://www.htcdev.com/" and create yourself an account on HTCDEV.
2. Download These Fastboot Files
3. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
4. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 2 to the new folder
5. Go Here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ and select "All Other Supported Models" and "then begin unlock bootloader"
6. Yes, Tick both Boxes, Proceed
7. Skip up to step 8 as we have all we need for the first 7 steps
8. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 5-7 seconds (the three keys will flash a few times then it will power off)
9. Hold volume down button, the device will boot to HBOOT
10. Select Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power once (you'll be in fastboot mode)
11. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
12. cd to your folder where we put fastboot files cd c:\fastboot
13. type this into your command prompt window fastboot oem get_identifier_token
14. select & copy the text as per step 9 on the HTCDev website
15. paste your identifier token into the box at the bottom and submit
You Will Very Shortly Receive an email from HTCDev with a link to the second part of the instructions and your "Unlock_code.bin" attached
16. download the "Unlock_code.bin" from the email and save it to the same folder that we extracted fastboot files to in step 2
17. type this into your command prompt window fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
18. The Display Will change on your phone, press Vol + to accept and power to confirm.
Congratulations You Have Successfully Unlocked Your Bootloader
UPDATE: Read the IMPORTANT note added below
Rooting with Superboot for GSM Device (Primo U)
1. Download r1-primo-superboot.zip to your computer and extract in any directory.
2. Download the modded boot.superboot.img
3. Replace the boot.superboot.img in the folder that you extracted just now (r1-primo-superboot).
Or download one of the Superboot that relevant to your device HERE
4. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 5-7 seconds (the three keys will flash a few times then it will power off)
5. Hold volume down button, the device will boot to HBOOT
6. Select Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power once (you'll be in fastboot mode)
7. Connect your phone to PC
8. Double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
Rooting with Superboot for CDMA Device (Primo C)
1. Download r1-primo-cdma-superboot.zip to your computer and extract in any directory.
2. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 5-7 seconds (the three keys will flash a few times then it will power off)
3. Hold volume down button, the device will boot to HBOOT
4. Select Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power once (you'll be in fastboot mode)
5. Connect your phone to PC
6. Double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
Once it complete, the phone will reboot on its own. In app drawer you will see a SuperSU icon, click on it and update SU binary then you are done with rooting your Htc One V.
You can try any app with root access to confirm it is working.

IMPORTANT
As some people forget to make a nandroid backup for their stock ROM, after they successfully unlocked their device,
when a soft brick happens, it will be a big problem to be back on stock when they are unable to find the official RUU for their device.
So make sure, after successfully unlocked your device, don't do anything else yet, flash the CWM recovery and make a nandroid, make nandroid and nandroid of your stock ROM.
Download the Recovery for GSM Device:
CWM 5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28153112
Direct download link : http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.5-primou.img
CWM 6 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871243 (the latest version as at 05 Sep 2012)
Download the Recovery for CDMA Device:
CWM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749798
How to make a nandroid backup ?
Once the CWM recovery installed:
Press power once (to go to hboot)
press volume down/up to navigate the menu to RECOVERY, press POWER once
Once in the RECOVERY menu:
click backup and restore
click backup
the backup process is running. It will be a few minutes to complete.
once complete, check whether the backup is successful
click backup and restore
click restore
you will see your backup files, e.g: 2012-06-12.0.13.04
click Go Back or use the back button
click reboot system now to boot your device
once fully booted, mount your sdcard to PC, browse to \clockworkmod\backup and copy the 2012-06-12.0.13.04 folder to your PC as a second backup in case something is wrong with your sdcard.
2012-06-12.0.13.04 is an example only, you will get a different no.
Alternatively, you also can use TWRP recovery:
GSM version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721749
CDMA version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764183
Now you are ready to do the rooting process.
Once your device is rooted, you are free to do whatever you want to do with your device, to flash a custom ROM, a custom kernel... whatever.
If soft brick happens and there is no official RUU, a stock nandroid backup may helps you
It doesn't work !!!!
It stucks at -waiting for device- in
11. type this into your command prompt window fastboot oem get_identifier_token
It works perfectly when s off and root. But why cant i gain root access when i already have SU app?
I tried to update the SU but it failed on gaining root access and busybox list.

I don't see why rooting is a development issue. Development is for, well, software development like ROMs and recoveries, etc. Rooting is required to develop, but isn't development per-se.
I am planning on buying this phone.
I just have a few questions.
What is S-off and S-on?
Also, what is RUU?

I just give a basic explanation:
S-Off - security off - you can change everything including hboot partition layout, radio, system, data & recovery
S-On - opposite of the above, all cannot be change (which normally with a locked bootloader)
S-On + unlocked bootloader - you can change only system, data & recovery
RUU - ROM Update Utility - and exe file which consist all the OS files to be installed to the phone.

Here is a simple tutorial on how to unlock bootloader and root your Htc One V.

Thank you for your response.
How do you toggle S-On to S-off?
Why is it recommended to have the RUU you said one should have?

We have to wait until a developer finds an exploit.
To root, it is mandatory to have S-OFF?
Can I just make the root without the S-OFF?
Im here again:
How can I make S-OFF in my HTC One V, the HTCDev teaches seeks to remove the battery, but the HTC One V has internal battery (you can not remove)?
Someone who has made S-OFF on your HTC One V, could you help me?
(sorry my bad english, im speak portuguese only)...

You cannot do restore factory settings when you moved some system apks out from nand.
In order to flash a RUU:
1) you need an official RUU for your device.
2) you have htc usb drivers installed on PC.
3) relock the bootloader
in fastboot mode type fastboot oem lock
4) flash RUU
Do you have some kind of note of your actual software version number ?

Wildfire S black screen recovery 1.26.401.3 hboot 1.09.0099

Hi
I bought my wfs in poland (sorry for my english and mistakes). I have problem because I updated my phone to 2.26.401.3 in phone jumped message about new soft and I update. Now I unlocked bootloader with htcdev and when I go into recovery (cwm installed by rom manager) I have black screen and under screen leds are light. I tried this but this isn't working now i downgraded phone to 2.13.401.3 and recovery (cwm) still not working. I tried another recovery but no one working. I want install new rom. What do? Can I install custom rom without recovery? or any solutions of this problem?
I had very similar problems, and could not find any solution, so I created custom recovery.img with appropriate kernel. Download attached recovery.img and using fastboot burn it:
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery,img
Phone needs to be in "fastboot usb" mode. Let me know if you have problems with it. Works for me.

[TUTORIAL] How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on wildfire s
I Hope you have SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync installed on your Windows PC. After unlocking the bootloader and rooted your device follow this:
(Note: You only need to install HTC Sync for the drivers that come with it. But the program sometimes causes conflicts, so during this procedure, make sure it is not running. Open Task Manager in Windows and kill it. If you don’t use HTC Sync, you may also open Control Panel and uninstall it without uninstalling the drivers.)
[OPTIONAL] Update Android software version to 2.3.5
If you have a Marvel/A510e, It is recommended updating to 2.3.5 before proceeding (if possible), though you can root a 2.3.3 device. If you decide to root 2.3.3 now and install 2.3.5 later, you’ll loose your root, cwm and have to do it again.
Make sure the phone is connected in Charge only mode. Enable USB debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB. Also Disable "Fast boot" by go to Settings>Power>uncheck "Fast boot".
1. Download the official 5.0.2.8 image at ClockworkMod’s index of recoveries here: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/
Make sure you choose the right one for your device whether Marvel or MarvelC. If you downloaded the zip version, extract the img file from the zip you just downloaded.
2. Boot the phone into HBOOT. After it scans for PG7610.zip, select 'FASTBOOT' and press the <Power> button then connect the USB cable. The word 'FASTBOOT' will change into 'FASTBOOT USB'. If not, then either your USB drivers for the Wildfire S or Android SDK Tools is not installed properly.
3. Open command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you extracted the recovery image in step 1.
4. Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery [image name.img]. For example:
c:\android\>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img
Try the above method, if it fails then go down:
It's a full version, so just download the .zip put it in sdcard then replace battery, press <power> with Vol Down.

i have a marvel unlocked s on wildfire s.
i can't root my phone because when i go into the recovery mode, the black screen comes up with the 4 lighting keys. i don't know what to do. i read the related posts but nothing seems to help. could you guys please help.. i unlocked my phone for rooting and now i can't do anything.
You can root your phone by using the HTC super tool, just google for it.
I assume you have stock recovery on your phone, then you actually can't really use that recovery. You should try to root it with supertool
and then install CWM with ROM Manager
I hope this came in handy for you!

i tried the supertool but it doesn't work. i tried everything even the clockworkmode recovery, the flashing of cwm works perfectly fine but the recovery mode doesn't show up so that i can install from sd card. only a black screen with key lighted comes up. i tried the things given in the black screen recovery article of xda .. but nothing seems to help. could you help me out to see through this. my moms htc wildfire s which is one year old works perfectly fine but the problem is with my new one.. i also heard that lot of people are experiencing the same.
After unlocking, you have to root the device first then install CWM and take a nandroid backup thru Recovery option.
For rooting you can also use root.zip method. just google it.
To flash CWM, goto Hboot menu and select fastboot, then goto cmd (command prompt) on pc try using fastboot commands to flash boot.img, system.img and recovery.img.
Hope this may be useful.....

Maybe you need to downgrade your stock ROM (if you still can boot it up so to say).
Look for a RUU for WFS and try to downgrade/upgrade HBOOT and such to an older/newer version.
Sorry that I can't post any links too RUUs, I'm on my phone.
But there is a tread with these in the Dev section I think, but if they don't work you can just google for them.
tbh I have a similar problem with my bro's WFS, I can't even unlock it because of wrong versions a such so I think your problem could be related to this.

I think you you've chosen the wrong cwm. Chose the right one here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229
download PG76IMG.zip and you need to install it using fastboot, it will not work using the zip file from your sd card. Make sure you delete that file before attempting what is below (adapted from CafeKampuchia's guide on rooting).
You will need SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync installed on your Windows computer. Install the SDK tools in a directory named something like c:\android. Put the recovery image in this directory, too, not the zip file.
Boot the phone into HBOOT by turning the phone off, removing the battery, replacing the battery then holding down the power key and volume button. After it scans for PG7610.zip, select FASTBOOT and press the power button then connect the USB cable. The word FASTBOOT will change into FASTBOOT USB. If not, then either your USB drivers for the Wildfire S or Android SDK Tools is not installed properly.
Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to c:\android
Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery [image name.img]. For example:

Why do you clean your sd card?
From fastboot you can flash custom recovery, and then you can enter your custom recovery to mount the sd card..
from there, copy a custom rom on your choice and flash it..remember to flash the kernel too..
Good luck bro! :good:

Now I already installed the custom rom (ARHD 9.7.2). But when appears the wallpaper to start setting up, it restarts in boot loop.
I tried to restore using a backup and it didn't work. (old backup CWM 5.8.2.7) now I have CWM 5.8.4.0
What should I do?

First of all thank you Hossam.Abdelsalam for the instructions. However, screen on my HTC One X (TM UK) is not staying off if I connect wall charger (step 1 and 2). So, it is not charging battery. Any idea what can I do?

Have a search for a bat file that lets you charge your phone in a reboot cycle, then you can go from there.

Yeah, but what error? what does it say when you try to erase cache?
Please, slow down and tell us what you are trying to do and what you have already done.
Did you:
- unlock the phone with HTC Dev?
- flash Unlock_code.bin?
- install custom recovery?
- install custom rom?
- install the boot.img for the custom rom via fastboot?
We're here to help but we cant if your not telling us whats wrong

Did you try to install a JB version of ARHD?
If so, it sounds like you haven't updated the hboot.
It's almost impossible to help if you don't answer questions though.

That sound about right... but what rom did you install?
if it is a sense Jellybean rom like ARHD 12 you probably forgot to update the hboot with the firmware.zip
